  • REPORT: ‘Blade’ Reboot Casting Supporting Roles Ahead of Fall Production Start

REPORT: ‘Blade’ Reboot Casting Supporting Roles Ahead of Fall Production Start

Just two days ago, we got the first casting details for the upcoming adaptation of Blade. The Mahershala Ali-led project will introduce the Marvel Cinematic Universe to the mystical world of vampires. It will be the second adaptation since Wesley Snipes tackled the role back in 1993. The seemed to hint at the addition of his daughter. She was a character that almost made her comic debut in 2015. Now, POC Culture revealed that Marvel Studios is casting two African-American female roles for an upcoming project. They do hint that there is a possibility they might also be for Black Panther, but it seems pretty likely, going by the descriptions, these belong to Blade.

Marvel is trying to cast an African-American woman in the age range of 20 to 35 to play Betsy. She aspires to become a heroine, and it seems that her role requests comedic chops from the stress. She would appear alongside Lucy, who is in a similar age range. She is on the run after her mother passed away under mysterious circumstances and living off the grid. It would make sense that the strange occurrence might get tied to a vampire attack, which some might not even believe in a world filled with heroes.

These characters might have a connection to Ruby, who was the focus of the last casting reveal. They are older, but she could accidentally get involved as the “mysterious circumstance” makes its return to haunt Lucy. It could be how she gets involved as a major supporting character and what leads to her meeting Ali‘s Blade. We still know very little about the story, so it is only speculation. With casting underway, we will hopefully find out who will direct the film in the coming weeks.

  • First Look at ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’s Knightmare Deathstroke and Cyborg

First Look at ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’s Knightmare Deathstroke and Cyborg

In almost two weeks, fans will be able to sit down and experience what the 2017 film was originally supposed to be. The film will include all new and never-before-seen footage from director Zack Snyder‘s original vision. One of the most elusive parts of Snyder‘s DC films was the mysterious Knightmare timeline. In it, Superman had fallen to the anti-life equation and was turned into an agent of Apokolips. It would lead to Darkseid’s conquest of Earth. We got our first look at the timeline in Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. It gave us a brief glimpse of Batman’s rebellion before he was thwarted by Superman’s soldiers and Parademons. It looks as if the story will continue in the upcoming film, as a new gallery of the Justice League has offered us a closer look at the Knightmare designs.

The images above give us our first look at Knightmare Cyborg. It is shocking to see him in one piece with his armor malformed and rocky. It also seems as if his lights have gone off at some point, but this could be due to the figurine. He also is wearing a brown cloak, which he probably uses to hide his robotic body.

The next photos from the gallery feature our first look at Mera from this timeline. She is now wielding a trident and has presumably taken the place of Aquaman in the resistance. If you look closer, you can see that she is wielding a Parademon rifle as well. There is also the reveal of a worn-out Deathstroke armor that is covered in sand. We also get a closer look at Jared Leto‘s Joker, reprising the role for the first time since Suicide Squad back in 2016. This Joker seems to be dressed on a surgical gown of sorts, with a kevlar vest covered in bloody police badges, as well as his signature gun, featured in Suicide Squad.

The gallery includes a variety of other costumes, such as the Flash costume that we briefly saw in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. We’re eager to see where the Knightmare sequence takes the story, and how this motley crew came together. Former enemies putting aside their feud for a chance at a better future. Zack Snyder’s Justice League will begin streaming globally on March 18th exclusively on HBO Max.

First Look at ‘Space Jam: A New Legacy’ Teases LeBron James’ Biggest Game Yet

Warner Bros. has quite the line-up planned for 2021. We will see the return of some iconic franchises. They recently released a new Tom and Jerry film, and Godzilla vs. Kong will release in the coming weeks. There is one more legacy franchise making a grand return, and that is Space JamThe Looney Tunes are back in action with a new basketball star to help them defeat the latest threat in a game of basketball. LeBron James is joining the franchise that started with Michael Jordan back in 1997. After a long wait, we finally got our first look at the film in some new images and the film’s main story. It also finally teases who the enemy team will consist of, and it seems like we have Warner Bros. attempt at a basketball version of Avengers: Endgame.

If you take a close look at the blurry background, you’ll notice some Warner Bros. icons hiding in the background. Entertainment Weekly also confirms that characters like Batman and King Kong will be courtside watching the biggest game of James‘ life. He will face the Goon Squad, which consists of a variety of powered-up pros. The story will see him play himself, as he and his onscreen son end up trapped in a strange digital world, where they meet a rogue artificial intelligence.

He is struggling to connect to his son, who ends up getting the attention of Don Cheadle‘s Al G Rhythm, who wants to obtain the king’s massive follower count. To find a way out of the virtual world, LeBron must gather the Looney Tunes to face the Goon Squad. So that he can accomplish this task, he will be traveling through various classic franchises, but they wouldn’t confirm which ones we can expect. They confirm that this isn’t a sequel but rather a brand new entry using the same template.

  • RUMOR: Michael Korvac to Appear in ‘Captain Marvel 2’

RUMOR: Michael Korvac to Appear in ‘Captain Marvel 2’

Marvel Studios seems to be quite busy casting for its upcoming Captain Marvel sequel. We got the reveal that they are currently looking to cast the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s version of Blue Marvel. Now, we got another revelation about an iconic Marvel character joining the film that kind of conflicts with the before-mentioned Blue Marvel reveal. That Hashtag Show believes that the role, which is described as a supporting male role between 20 to 30 years of age, will turn out to be Michael Korvacs.
They reference that the casting looking for a Michael B. Jordan or Jon Boyega type actor also included Timothy Chalamet for reference. As such, they’ve heard that the character will be one of the multiple villains, like Zawe Aston. He will have a supporting role throughout the film before turning out to be the main threat, Michael Korvac. It looks like he was part of the original script written by Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck, and Nicole Perlman before Megan McDonnell rewrote it.
In the comics, Korvac was from the alternate universe Earth-691, where he was turned into a cyborg by the alien race Badoon. They are the same race that we saw alongside Ronan in Guardians of the Galaxy. His transformation has given him the ability to absorb any energy. He even absorbed Galactus’ cosmic energy at one point, which made him a dangerous existence in the multiverse. He would make for a formidable foe for Captain Marvel to face, as we haven’t seen her get pushed to her limits yet. It does conflict with the Blue Marvel news, so we’ll have to take it with a grain of salt for now.

  • REPORT: Sony’s Spider-Man Spin-Off ‘Silk’ Adds Sang Kyu Kim as Showrunner

REPORT: Sony’s Spider-Man Spin-Off ‘Silk’ Adds Sang Kyu Kim as Showrunner

All eyes are on the title reveal for Spider-Man: No Way Home. Well, Peter Parker isn’t the only webhead on Sony’s mind, as some details have made their way online. Around six months ago, it got revealed that a live-action series was in development for Silk. It would introduce the world to the character of Cindy Moon. She is new to Marvel comics, as she made her debut back in 2014, as Peter uncovered that he wasn’t the only one bit by the radioactive spider.

She even got her series and had an important role in the Spider-Verse event. At the time, we already knew that Phil Lord and Chris Miller were developing the series as part o their five-year deal alongside Korean-American writer Lauren Moon. The Illuminerdi may have gotten their hands on the first details for the series. It is in early development as an Amazon Prime series. They are currently casting a Korean-American, who is between the age of 19 and 29-years-of-age. It seems they have approached Adeline Rudolph for the role, but there have been no talks so far.

The first description also teases the series story following her early beginnings in crime-fighting, who has a knack for 80s and 90s pop culture. Not just that, they also have added Sang Kyu Kim as showrunner and executive producer for the series. Kim has quite the filmography as a producer on series, such as Jupiter’s LegacyAltered CarbonDesignated Survivor, and The Walking Dead. It will be interesting to see if the series will tie into Venom and the MCU Spider-Man films or if it will be its project moving forward.

  • Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Cynthia Erivo Join Robert Zemeckis’ ‘Pinocchio’

Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Cynthia Erivo Join Robert Zemeckis’ ‘Pinocchio’

Disney has been busy developing their next live-action adaptations of some of their classic animations. A few days ago, Jessica Alexander joined the upcoming remake of The Little Mermaid. That wasn’t the end of it just yet. They’ve also been busy casting their cast for the Robert Zemeckis-directed Pinocchio. The Wrap has reported that Cynthia Erivo closed a deal to play the Blue Fairy. They also found their Jiminy Cricket. Joseph Gordon-Levitt has joined the production as the helpful companion. They are joining Keegan-Michael Key as Honest John and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, who will voice the titular Pinocchio.

The film will be adapted based on a script by Zemeckis and Chris Weitz. It will start production in the United Kingdom. It is joining other Disney adaptations that will head directly to the Disney+ streaming service once it premieres, as revealed in Disney’s Investors Day. Guillermo del Toro has also been working on a new adaptation of the iconic wooden boy, which will be a far departure from the Disney original. It will be interesting to see how different these two visions will end up being when they release.

Erivo has quite the background. She appeared in the films WidowsHarriet, and the HBO series ‘The Outsiders. She has been quite busy with her debut album and a children’s book on the way as well. The actress will also portray Aretha Franklin in the upcoming series Genius. It is great to see her join the upcoming Disney+ film, and it will be interesting to see what she brings to the role of the Blue Fairy.

  • Report: Obi Wan Kenobi will appear in “Star Wars: Andor”

Report: Obi Wan Kenobi will appear in “Star Wars: Andor”

Coming off the heels of an incredible season finale of The Mandalorian in December, many Star Wars fans are excited to see where the next story set a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away may take them. Some are excited to continue with the aftermath of Order 66 in The Bad Batch, while others may be waiting to see what the dealings in The Book of Boba Fett have in store for the famed bounty hunter. But amongst the lists of series and films that are coming soon to a galaxy near you is the upcoming Disney+ series, Star Wars: Andor.

Kathleen Kennedy, the President of Lucasfilm, described the series as “a tense nail-biting spy thriller in the Star Wars universe.” Created by Tony Gilroy (The Bourne Identity), Diego Luna will reprise his role as Cassian Andor from the spinoff film, Rogue One. He will also be joined by the cast of Stellan Skarsgard, Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, and Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma. And it seems that a certain negotiator may have joined their ranks as well.

Our friends at the Illuminerdi are reporting that Ewan McGregor is set to reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi for the upcoming Andor series. What’s interesting is that it reportedly will not be a “one and done” cameo like Luke Skywalker at the end of Season 2 for The Mandalorian, but that he’ll rather have a recurring role in the series. Now, this would certainly serve quite some backstory for the character of Obi-Wan, given that he’s been isolated in Tatooine since the events of Revenge of the Sith all the way until A New Hope. Let’s not forget that we’re also going to be getting an Obi-Wan Kenobi series for Disney+ as well after this, which is set 10 years after the events of Episode III, so it would be interesting to see how the two series will connect with one another.

  • ‘THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER’ Set Photos Reveal Miek’s New Power Suit

‘THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER’ Set Photos Reveal Miek’s New Power Suit

Following set photos depicting a brand new Asgardian play featuring Matt Damon and Luke HemsworthMelissa McCarthy’s cameo, and Sam Neill’s return, we now continue the deluge of leaked pics from the fourth Thor installment with new looks at Toothgnasher and Toothgrinder as well as big hints on the brand new look Miek might have on the upcoming movie.

    https://twitter.com/Marvel_TH/status/1367038578664960001?s=19

The new photo seem to take place around Thor arriving at New Asgard via his goats, Toothgnasher and Toothgrinder, and a glimpse of the new look Miek will be sporting in the film. Both goats had already been sighted a few weeks back, but we now get much clearer looks at the animatronics production is using to depict them on set, to make it easier for actors to interact with what are sure to be mostly CGI characters when it’s all said and done. The goats are heavily featured in Jason Aaron’s Thor run, which is also being referer to in two other major ways in Thor: Love and Thunder: The introduction of the villain Gorr, The God Butcher (Christian Bale), and Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) wielding Mjölnir and thus becoming The Mighty Thor.

These new set photos also give us a look at Miek, reminding us of an old Taika Waititi statement during an Instagram live broadcast where he watched Thor: Ragnarok along with fans, that Miek would feature brand new exoskeletons in the following movie, including one clearly resembling a female figure. He then went on to share a few of the looks his team had been working on, and one of them seems to have been now caught on camera.

Thor: Love and Thunder is currently filming in Australia with a release date of May 6th, 2022.

  • CW Renews ‘Superman and Lois’ for a Season 2

CW Renews ‘Superman and Lois’ for a Season 2

In the first season of Supergirl, it seemed unlikely that we would ever see the face of Superman on the CW. They only gave us a brief silhouette of the Kryptonian. Suddenly, after Supergirl‘s second season was announced, Tyler Hoechlin had been cast in the role of Kal-El and would make his Arrowverse debut. From then on, he’d only make brief appearances here and there. His character would only have larger roles in the various crossovers. That all changed when it got announced that Hoechlin was receiving a series titled Superman and Lois.

The journey isn’t stopping there, as the series has been renewed for a second season following its monumental premiere last week. The series premiere delivered the largest day-one streaming audience for a new series on the CW. It also racked up 1.7 million viewers during its initial broadcast. Of course, the news got instantly shared on the official Twitter account:

The CW’s Chairman and CEO, Mark Pedowitz, stated the incredible debut for Superman and Lois

The phenomenal multiplatform debut of Superman & Lois, which delivered for us in a big way on both a linear and streaming basis, is a testament to the creativity, hard work and dedication of the talented people who worked tirelessly in front of and behind the camera, especially in this challenging environment

Superman and Lois currently air on the CW Network. Tyler Hoechlin and Bitsie Tulloch are reprising their roles as Superman and Lois Lane in a post-crisis world. Now in the united Earth-Prime after a multiversal reset, they have to juggle being parents of two children and face a world of uncertainty.

  • REPORT: ‘CAPTAIN MARVEL 2’ Casting Hints at Blue Marvel’s MCU Debut

REPORT: ‘CAPTAIN MARVEL 2’ Casting Hints at Blue Marvel’s MCU Debut

Casting is underway for Captain Marvel 2 and the description of a supporting role in the film may hint towards Dr. Adam Brashear, aka the Blue Marvel, joining the MCU. According to GWW, Marvel Studios is seeking a Black male, 20-30, described as a Michael B. Jordan or John Boyega type, for an unnamed role in the film.

A 'Blue Marvel' Film Could Be The MCU's Platform for High-Concept Sci-Fi - MCUExchange

Blue Marvel was first introduced in a 2008 limited series titled Adam: Legend of the Blue Marvel and though he has been used sparingly over the last decade or so, he did feature prominently in Al Ewing’s Ultimates where he entered into a relationship with Monica Rambeau. While Brashear’s backstory might have to be changed to fit into the current flow of the MCU, his incredible origins and high concept sci-fi stories would be right at home. Time will tell if this is Brashear or not, but fans of his (like me) are keeping our fingers crossed that we’ll get a chance to see him brought to life in the MCU!
