Three Ways ‘Ms. Marvel’ Will Tie Into ‘The Marvels’
Now that Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness has released on the big screen, and Moon Knight has concluded its 6-episode run on Disney+, eyes have naturally pivoted to the next double entry in the MCU: Thor: Love & Thunder and the introduction of Kamala Khan in Ms. Marvel. Ms. Marvel is about three weeks away from dropping, and as we have seen, the Disney+ shows are FIRMLY connected to the wider MCU (even Moon Knight had a reference to the GRC that debuted in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier). Ms. Marvel will be no different, forging ties to the 2023 theatrical release, The Marvels.
The 1-2 punch of Ms. Marvel/The Marvels seems in line with WandaVision/Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness. As such, the speculation train is rampant as to how this story about a young hero from New Jersey can connect to the sequel for one of Marvel’s highest grossing films ever. We can start to answer that by going back to the source: the comics.
Based on the trailer, Kamala Khan’s power source seems incredibly reminiscent of the Quantum Bands. The Quantum Bands, gifted in the comics to Mar-Vell as he became Protector of the Universe, may offer us our first connection to Carol Danvers. In the MCU, the Bands are likely Kree tech with a connection to the Quantum Realm. The Kree came to Earth-616 to bring Carol Danvers back to Hala, and it is entirely possible that they left some tech that Kamala Khan stumbles upon. The last time we saw Carol, in the post-credit scene for Shang Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings, where she was quickly distracted and had to run off. It’s incredibly likely that will coincide with the timeline of The Marvels.
The Disney Plus streaming series Hawkeye may also provide a template for a connection to form between Kamala and Carol. In that, we see a young Kate Bishop inspired by Hawkeye after watching him from her parents’ apartment as he fought off the Chitauri. In the comics, Kamala looks up to Carol in the same way, and you see hints of that transferring over from the page to the screen in the footage that Marvel has released. Kamala idolizes Carol, and it wouldn’t be too surprising to see a similar scene in Ms. Marvel that allows for Kamala to develop a deep respect for Carol. Keep in mind that, at this point in the MCU, Carol’s adventures have taken place off-world, so Marvel is going to have to show why Kamala feels this deep connection to Carol.
Lastly, we can’t talk about how Ms. Marvel will connect to The Marvels without discussing the third “Marvel”: Monica Rambeau. Imbued with powers from thrice crossing “The Hex”, it is possible that Monica Rambeau will be the one to remind Kamala that Carol is not the hero that she thinks she is. Monica blipped when her mother was alive, returning only to have her mother pass and Carol, her mother’s best friend, nowhere to be found. In Wandavision, we see a Monica that is very clearly not too fond of Carol, and now she’s going to be with a person in Kamala who adores the person she cannot stand.Given that Carol didn’t Blip, and thus won’t understand why Monica is so pissed, it’s even likely that Kamala is who tells Carol that Monica has a reason to not be happy with her. Given Carol’s stubborn nature, this will most likely be needed. At the end of WandaVision, we also see that Monica is told by a friendly Skrull that someone wanted to see her, and that someone could be a Carol who has now recruited a kid into space (if Ms. Marvel ends with Kamala Khan being beamed up in order to be protected). Imagine her anger when seeing that Carol came to protect Kamala, but not her.
With her power source potentially being Kree tech, the idolization of one of the heroes, and potential role as an intermediary between Carol and Monica, Ms. Marvel will most definitely be required watching for anyone preparing to watch The Marvels. -

REPORT: Runtime for ‘Ms. Marvel’s First 2 Episodes Revealed
As first reactions are hitting the web from Ms. Marvel, we also get some teases on what the first two episodes have to offer for those excited to check out Marvel Studios’ latest project. There’s always some excitement, or even uncertainty, about the runtime of these episodes as Marvel Studios has not truly broken beyond the one-hour mark with its drama series. It looks like the same can be said for the
The first episode of Ms. Marvel will be 47 minutes long with the sequel running for two minutes longer. As per usual, it also includes the usual credits that are different depending on what region you are from, as they also include the local dub actors. So, keep that in mind if the runtime is slightly off in your local region.
The runtime discussion has been an interesting one, as many have gotten the feeling that Marvel isn’t using more time to fully explore these stories. As we’re seeing these projects as quite new for Marvel Studios, who mainly focused on three cinematic productions per year. As they expand, they likely have to adjust to it and we’ll see how they learn moving forward.
Ms. Marvel will explore the story of Kamala Khan. A young teenager who looks up to the heroes she grew up admiring, only to suddenly gain a special ability of her own. As the Pakistani-American tries to find out what she is truly capable of, Khan also has to balance her studies, avoiding high school’s usual trappings and the watchful eye of her family.

REVIEW: ‘Shoresy’ is Even Better Than ‘Letterkenny’
Every so often, a show comes seemingly out of nowhere and takes the world – and internet – by storm. Hulu’s Letterkenny is that series. The series spun out of a YouTube video by series star/creator Jared Keeso and was initially titled Letterkenny Problems. Since being ordered to series, there have been ten seasons of Letterkenny. It’s a simple concept that excels in great character development and storytelling. Which is why it is unsurprising then that Hulu and CraveTV opted to crate a spinoff focusing on the fan-favorite, wise-cracking, and often inappropriate hockey player that loves to give Riley and Jonesy a hard time. Shoresy has a lot to live up to and yet it succeeds with flying colors.
With a single episode, Shoresy proves Keeso isn’t a one-hit-wonder. After the blazing success of Letterkenny, a series that seemed to garner attention almost overnight, it’s no wonder why Hulu and Crave TV ordered the spinoff. Shoresy recaptures that magic from the first season of Letterkenny with such ease. In fact, while Letterkenny might’ve spent time on trying to get Wayne to fight again, Shoresy spends time trying to make the character more than a fighting asshole.
Those expecting Shoresy to talk about banging everyone’s moms will be delightfully surprised to learn the character is given room to be more than the naked handstand guy who thrives on torturing others. Yes, he’s still frustrating. And yes, his trademark “give your balls a tug” line is still very much there. But there’s also a heck of a lot more to the show. In fact, there are moments in which Shoresy feels like a more defined series than its predecessor. Unlike the original series, Shoresy doesn’t need to take time to establish itself – the series knows what it wants to be and delivers on its intent from the very beginning.
One of the things that makes the series all the more enjoyable is seeing how Keeso successfully navigates the character. Playing two characters that exist within the same universe can be a bit difficult; it’s also probably why Shoresy’s face is hidden in Letterkenny throughout his appearances. Trying to make viewers understand these are two very different characters despite Keeso playing both roles can be a hard sell. And yet, Keeso does such a great job at changing up his mannerisms and speech to ensure Wayne and Shoresy are not one in the same. It’s a pretty difficult task, given the characters do share a fair amount of character traits, but Keeso manages to do so with ease.
More impressively, though, the supporting cast manages to shine just as much as Keeso. When the series focuses solely on hockey players, it is vital that the show makes it a point to make the characters feel like a proper team. The sense of comradery needs to be felt by the audience. Sure, the other players don’t get as many lines as Shoresy, but the supporting cast is a delight and they do get in on the action. Unfortunately, those looking for Letterkenny actors to pop-up, don’t expect too many. There are a few that do appear – J.J. Frankie is one of them as he’s on Shoresy’s new team. However, there is a nice little surprise for fans of a certain chaotic Glen. (No, he’s not there as Glen, but the always great Jacob Tierney does make an appearance.)
On one hand, it seems wrong to compare Shoresy to Letterkenny. Yes, they are within the same universe, and yes, Keeso created both series. But they are incredibly different. There’s no denying Letterkenny is great – there’s a reason millions around the world have taken to the series – but Shoresy feels like an upgrade to an already great world.
The series is being billed as a limited series, however, by the end of episode six, it is clear that Shoresy isn’t over just yet. With most shows that bill themselves as a limited series, an open-ended ending could be frustrating. That isn’t the case with Shoresy, though, because by the end of the season there’s such a rich amount of character development that it becomes difficult to part with these characters. For leading man Keeso, balancing two hits shows could prove troublesome, but one thing is for certain: Keeso knows how to deliver a smart television series and Shoresy is proof that he’s one of the best talents on the small screen these days.

‘Avengers: Endgame’ Directors Decline Comment on ‘Avengers 5’ Rumors
Joe and Anthony Russo have made quite the mark in the industry, as not only did they direct some of the most successful films for Marvel Studios, but they went on to found their own production company AGBO to support smaller productions. Everything Everywhere All at Once was also thanks to their support and made quite the splash in the industry. Yet, there have been rumors that they may be returning to Marvel Studios for a fifth e entry.
In a new piece by Den of Geek, they got a chance to sit down with the directors who shared their thoughts on the treatment of Scarlet Johanssen, where Disney left quite a sour taste with many of its talent moving forward due to the sudden shift towards streaming releases. They said “it was disturbing to us as artists” and are happy that it has been resolved since. They denied to comment on a potential return to Marvel Studios, Joe Russo did highlight their view of where cinema is currently developing.
I think we will start trending back towards original IP. I think it’s a great opportunity… I think that original IP will start to emerge in this market as corporations become more pedantic and factory-like with the execution of their current IP. I just think people are going to crave new ideas
Joe RussoWe’re definitely seeing some more unique IPs taking a stronger stand and in the best-case scenario, there will be a balance between franchise films and original IPs. The industry is learning that there’s no necessity for every film to be a massive box office breaking success, instead of focusing on smaller-scale projects taking a stronger stand in the market.
Franchises will still be around, they’ve always been around since the 70s and we’ll likely see a continuous change with streaming dominating the market, as highlighted by Russo.
We’re certainly concerned with the trend in the market that’s moving away from artists. There’s been a lot of value in tech companies getting involved in making content, but there’s also some downsides to that. And those downsides include tech companies like Netflix and Apple and Amazon having much deeper pockets than studios do, and they can pay more and that’s starting to scare the studios.
Joe RussoWhile many in the industry are focused on franchises as the main cause of the current trend. Yet, streaming, YouTube, TikTok, and more have been bombarding the market with content that shifts entire viewing behaviors. Yes, superhero films have a certain dominance but we’re seeing original IPs make their stand and continue to have a stronger standing. Like any industry, competition helps develop the market but the problem is that external factors are showing their fangs.

The Imperfections of a Jedi Master: The Duchess, The Apprentice, and Obi-Wan Kenobi
Duchess Satine of Mandalore is on the run, and Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi has been assigned to save her. The two have a long history together, dating back to Kenobi’s time as Qui-Gon Jinn’s apprentice. For a moment, all feels right again. Remarks and retorts are thrown back and forth as they relive their glory days, nearly forgetting about the weight of their responsibilities. The same weight that crushed any chance they had at a life together all those years before. Then, suddenly, Senator Tal Merrik is unveiled as a traitor. His sights set on ending Satine’s life. Thinking this might be the end, the Duchess admits something she never thought she would. “I’ve always loved you“, she says to Obi-Wan. The Jedi responds with one of his classic quips, “This is hardly the time-“. Satine stops him with a furrowed brow. She knows something about him nobody else does, and no amount of wit will substitute the admission she’s looking for. Kenobi takes a moment, and then he says it. “If you had said the words, I would have left the Jedi Order.”
Obi-Wan is a lot of things. To one generation, he’s remembered as the wise old hermit who set Luke Skywalker on the path toward becoming a legendary Jedi. To another, he’s seen as a valiant hero of the Clone Wars, who never faltered in the face of tragedy. He’s loved by legions of fans because he is brave, he is charming, and he always appears to do the right thing. He is Jedi Master Kenobi, a purveyor of righteousness and adept at all things not flying. What people tend to forget, however, is that he is also deeply human. Full of regret, sorrow, and longing. He knows where he’s made mistakes, and he knows where he will continue to make them. He’s just really hoping the next one won’t be as bad as his last.
It’s this trait, perhaps his most crucial, that endears him so completely to so many, even if they aren’t aware of it. Duchess Satine would end up surviving that terrifying brush with death, but Kenobi’s reputation as a by-the-books mentor did not. Suddenly, fans across the globe were aware of Obi-Wan’s true self. Free of obligation and duty, for just one moment, Kenobi became every bit the emotional puppy he had spent years telling his apprentice it was unacceptable to be. This is because, as much as he tries to hide it, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker are one and the same. They just have different coping mechanisms.
Kenobi spends most of his time in the prequel trilogy scolding Anakin. The young Jedi feels so much at any given moment, and he feels it genuinely. When a person is constantly bombarded with that level of emotion, it begins to manifest in one of two ways. It either numbs itself, or it boils to the point of outward reaction. Anakin reacts, and Obi-Wan numbs. The Jedi Master’s way of dealing with his own trauma is to stuff it down and live by his code, in much the same way a real person might bury themselves in work after a bad breakup. He never truly believed in the code as an end-all-be-all solution. It was just easier to cite a rule of “no attachments” than it was to confront his own feelings. Life is less complicated when you’re not allowed to do things anyway.
During the Clone Wars, Jedi Master Luminara Unduli spoke to Anakin about his love for padawan Ashoka Tano. With both Tano and Barris Offee presumed dead, Skywalker became frantic. Unduli remained calm. Searching desperately for his learner, Anakin was told by Luminara that it was not the Jedi way to feel so strongly for his apprentice. He refused to comply. The moment is played as an indicator of Anakin’s future, but it plays surprisingly well into his own master’s future as well. This same type of emotional denial would emerge again in one of the franchise’s most iconic moments. Faced with losing his apprentice to the Dark Side amidst the fall of the Republic, to which he dedicated so much of his life, Kenobi says something that flies in the face of everything he’s told Anakin since their partnership began. “You were my brother, Anakin. I loved you!”. This, good folks, is attachment. Unbridled attachment, showing Kenobi’s true colors in the same way they emerged when he thought Satine would be gone forever.
Unfortunately, with the untimely death of Qui-Gon, Kenobi was forced to begin raising Anakin way before he was ready. At such a young age, the Jedi Knight was still learning who he was, and the Jedi Code was simply sitting there like the galaxy’s warmest comfort blanket. Qui-Gon never got the chance to teach Obi-Wan how to love himself, and he was never allowed the time to sort that out himself. Being then tasked with the emotions of a young, wildly Force-sensitive boy likely stunted his own emotional growth, and in turn, negatively impacted the way he was able to deal with Anakin’s own needs. He wanted to help, but he just couldn’t understand the way Anakin would respond to the same scenarios as himself. Both cared, both wanted nothing but the best, and yet they always argued over how to solve the problem. One reacts, one numbs, and neither is able to comprehend the other. This is the true tragedy of Star Wars, a catastrophic lack of communication.
It doesn’t help that, typically, when confronted with accusation or pressure, Kenobi will respond with some sort of cheeky comment. For him, it makes it easier to sidestep the admittance of his own faults. Earlier in the same aforementioned adventure with Satine, the Duchess mentioned having a scar to prove she spent time with Kenobi in the past. “I remember carrying you to safety“, the debonair Jedi claims. “That’s from when you dropped me“, she informs him. The visual feedback on Obi-Wan’s face seems to communicate something along the lines of, “Why would you say that in front of my friends?”. In actuality, what Satine has done is cut through the teacher’s façade. In front of everyone, she has revealed him to be fallible. No matter how many cool moments he’s had in the past, everyone now knows that Obi-Wan Kenobi once dropped the damsel in distress. He is imperfect, and it’s beautiful.
“If you had said the words, I would have left the Jedi Order“. Potentially the most important sentence Obi-Wan Kenobi said in his entire life. Only moments after speaking it, the Jedi Master would be given a near-impossible choice. Senator Merrik holds Satine at gunpoint, taunting Kenobi with the power he now holds. If Kenobi kills him in cold blood, he will betray his order and lose Satine’s respect, but if he doesn’t, Satine will die. Obi-Wan stands his ground as music swells, raising anticipation for the decision everyone hopes he’ll have to make. He grips his lightsaber, scowls, and prepares to do what must be done. Then, a blue-colored blade runs Merrik through. While Kenobi numbed himself and weighed his choices, Anakin reacted to save those he loved. “What“, Anakin says jovially, “He was gonna kill her“. The crisis is averted, and everyone involved is able to maintain the status quo. Life goes on, and nobody learns anything. This is the way of the Jedi, and its eventual demise. The rest is history.

Daybreak’s Marvel MMORPG Once Again Canceled
Well, it seems that Daybreak’s visions of an MMORPG in the Marvel Universe may never truly come together, as it has been announced that the latest attempt has once again been squashed. It was initially announced back in November but it seems that EG7, Daybreak’s mother company has confirmed the canceled project. The statement was made as follows:
EG7 today announced it will be discontinuing the development of the Marvel project at Daybreak Games. Based on the re-evaluation of the development risk profile, size of investment, and the long-term product portfolio strategy for the group, the board has decided to change the development priorities and reallocate resources within the group to focus on alternative long-term projects.
This decision won’t deter any medium-term revenues and profits according to EG7, but it’s surprising that a second attempt would get canceled once again. They tried to get a project going back in 2018, but that project didn’t have any momentum before a second attempt would try to revive it. They have quite a bit of experience with comic book adaptations, such as their work on DC Universe Online, but no details are given about what led to the cancelation.
There have been hints that Marvel’s gaming license fee is quite steep, which makes long-term investments quite the gamble. Square-Enix invested quite a bit to get the license to work on four projects, which only managed to turn into the GaaS game Marvel’s Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy. There’s no word if there was another Marvel game in some form of development, and if we’d ever see it after they sold their entire Western division. As of now, it seems Marvel has made its home on the mobile market and PlayStation consoles.

New ‘Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2’s Warzone Map Leaks Online After Reveal
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II was just officially revealed with a teaser trailer yesterday, but it seems as if leakers weren’t too far behind as we have the first details of the accompanying Warzone 2 map coming from leaker Tom Henderson. The game is rumored to be arriving with Modern Warfare II in October, with the game’s new Escape From Tarkov type mode also being playable on this new map.
We had previously learned that the new Warzone map would be scattered with locations similar to older Call of Duty maps, similar to what we have seen in Warzone and Blackout. Rumored locations include the Airport which is a remake of the Modern Warfare franchise’s Terminal, an expanded version of Quarry, and possibly even bits of Favala, all beloved maps from Modern Warfare’s past. Although we don’t have a clear legitimate picture of the map as of yet, Henderson has drawn a mock-up of what he believes the map to be based on his insider knowledge, which has been pretty spot on with Modern Warfare II. You can see the mock-up below.
As you can see, multiple other POI exists on the map, possibly leading the way for even more classic locations to be featured, as we know is a staple of these larger Call of Duty maps by now. With the large focus on remastering the original Modern Warfare II maps, I would not be surprised to see Activision attempting to capitalize on the standout title that many fans consider the peak of Call of Duty games. Modern Warfare II is certainly shaping up to deliver on fan expectations, are you excited for the future of Call of Duty? Let us know!

‘The Flash’s New Suit Spotted at Licensing Expo
While we still have quite some time to go before The Flash hits theaters and redefines the DC Extended Universe, a new look at the updated costume has been revealed during the Las Vegas Licensing Expo. Not only do we get a good look at the Flash’s costume in all its glory, but he’s also joined by what will be Sasha Calle‘s Supergirl suit. You can see the shared images below:
Sadly, it doesn’t look like they also have Michael Keaton‘s updated Batman suit at the Expo, but it seems they are focusing on these two pieces. It does look like they have The Batman‘s iconic cycle in the background. Still, it’s great to get a closer look at the design that moves away from the armored design we see in the Justice League films. It seems more closely inspired by the iconic comic designs, which were more of a skintight outfit.
It’s crazy to think that we’ve originally seen this design in concept art almost two years ago, but still have to wait one more year to finally see it on screen. The pushback on the multiversal storyline also creates an issue with other releases, as some that take place in whatever new universe is set up by this film also may not release for some time, such as Batgirl which will feature Michael Keaton‘s Batman. There’s no official word for what the future of the DCEU will look like. So, we’ll have to wait for an update.
