  • Leaked First Look at Tyler Hoechlin’s New Superman Suit

Leaked First Look at Tyler Hoechlin’s New Superman Suit

Since his first appearance on Supergirl, Tyler Hoechlin’s Clark Kent has sported the same suit. There was one exception, as he wore a black variant in the Elseworlds crossover, but that was technically Doctor Destiny pretending to be Clark via the Book of Destiny. Never the less, he was bound for an upgrade sooner or later. Now, the first season of Superman and Lois is set to hit the CW early next year as the newest addition to the Arrowverse, joining shows like BatwomanFlashStargirl, and Black Lightning.

While they aren’t the best, new set photos have given us our first look at what Hoechlin’s new suit will look like and it already seems to be a vast improvement on the first with a much more streamlined look with the removal of the infamous cape clips a new belt, new red boots, and what looks to be a much brighter emblem on his chest. The look is highly reminiscent of the look Superman first sported back in 2016 at the dawn of the current DC storyline, Rebirth.

Superman and Lois is set to take flight on February 23rd. It will feature the return of Tyler Hoechlin’s Man of Steel and Bitsie Tulloch’s Lois Lane as the couple adjusts to parenthood on a post-crisis Earth-Prime, where Clark will have to balance being a superhero and a father.

  • ‘Stargirl’ Casts Jim Gaffigan as Thunderbolt

‘Stargirl’ Casts Jim Gaffigan as Thunderbolt

Stargirl has been slowly adding to its cast as it prepares for its upcoming second season. They finally found their main villains in Shade and Eclipso. There was also the casting of Ysa Penarejo, who might end up being Alan Scott’s daughter Jade. Slowly, the show has been gathering its new members to join the Justice Society of America, but it looks like one more character will be joining Courtney. Stand-up comedian Jim Gaffigan reportedly will join the cast to voice a fully CG-character known as Thunderbolt. In the comics, he lived inside a pen. It briefly was seen in the show, so many expected his addition sooner rather than later. Entertainment Weekly also shared the following description of the character.

The wishes he grants often cause more trouble than the wish-asker would ever expect. But despite his somewhat constant supernatural disasters, the Thunderbolt’s heart is always in the right place, even if it is wounded by the friends he has lost throughout his long existence.

He is an extremely powerful character in the comics, so it seems they will stick to that very fact. Thunderbolt can fulfill wishes like other genies and is from the land of Bahdnesia. The casting confirms he will make an appearance at some point, but it is uncertain if he will have a larger role in the story. CW may be using the character for a one-off episode, and he will end up back where he came from by the end of it. Still, he could also end up being the Ex Machina for the story, as they are about to face some truly powerful enemies. Gaffigan is a fun addition to the cast, so it would be a waste not to have him around for multiple episodes, but we will see once the show airs its second season on the CW.

  • Ysa Penarejo Seemingly Playing Green Lantern Jade in ‘Stargirl’

Ysa Penarejo Seemingly Playing Green Lantern Jade in ‘Stargirl’

The first season for Stargirl was a smash hit on both DC Universe and The CW. The show has now found a permanent home on the CW with its second season. With the shows focus on honoring the legacy of the Justice Society of America, we were bound to be seeing more heroes join the ranks of the team. We would see a new generation take on the mantle of the fallen heroes.

Last week we got the news that Nick Taraby and Jonathan Cake would be joining the cast for the second season as the main antagonist Eclipso and Shade. In addition, there was a tidbit that Ysa Penarejo had joined the cast. Though, who Penarejo would end up playing was a mystery at the time. Early on, there was speculation that she would be playing the role of Jade, the newest recruit to Courtney’s new generation of heroes. This news has seems now to be confirmed due to a recent Instagram story uploaded by Wildcat actress, Yvette Montreal. In the image, we can clearly see Penarejo wearing the Starheart, Alan Scott’s iconic Green Lantern ring.

For those that don’t know, Jade is the daughter of Alan Scott and the supervillain Rose Canton. She is also the twin sister of Todd Rice, who goes by Obsidian. Both were given up for adoption and split up by Rose fearing, that she would harm them. Jade would go on to find her brother, and they would become founding members of the team Infinity Inc. after being rejected by the JSA. Jade and Obsidian both gained their abilities from their father’s prolonged exposure to the Starheart, which gave Jade the ability to conjure green energy and shape it into constructs. Not just that, she also has her mother’s ability to manipulate plants. With Jade seemingly set to join the show, her twin brother Obsidian cannot be too far behind.

  • ‘Stargirl’ Adds Nick Tarabay as Eclipso & Jonathan Cake as The Shade

‘Stargirl’ Adds Nick Tarabay as Eclipso & Jonathan Cake as The Shade

It looks like the DC show Stargirl finally found its core villains for the second season. Executive producer Geoff Johns already teased the addition of Eclipso and The Shade back in New York Comic-Con. Now, Deadline revealed that Nick Tarabay is playing Eclipso. Also, Jonathan Cake was cast as the Shade. They also teased that Ysa Paenarejo will join in an undisclosed role of a known DC character. Tarabay‘s Eclipso will be the main antagonist, who will clash with the Justice Society of America in the upcoming season. He was the life essence trapped in the blue diamond, which we briefly saw in the hands of the Injustice Society of America. He has the power to corrupt people based on their darkest and most impure thoughts. Interesting to note, the character of Eclipso is also rumored to appear in Black Adam.

The Shade is an immortal, who can control shadows. He is stuck in his eloquent ways from the 19th Century, who is described as quite witty. It is uncertain what exactly his role will be. If we go by Johns‘ quote, he called him the most powerful and unpredictable character the JSA will have to face. It will be interesting to see what Cake brings to the role. He has a background in Grey’s AnatomySEAL Team, and The AffairTarabay has some experience with DC shows, as he portrayed Captain Boomerang on Arrow. He also voices characters in video games such as The Butcher in last year’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Yves Penarejo just recently appeared in Netflix’s Project MC2. These are some great additions for CW’s latest superhero show, which will continue the adventures of young Courtney Whitmore and the JSA.

  • ‘Gotham’s Alex Morf Cast as Victor Zsasz in ‘Batwoman’ Season 2

‘Gotham’s Alex Morf Cast as Victor Zsasz in ‘Batwoman’ Season 2

Looks like Batwoman‘s second season will start introducing some more iconic Batman villains. In general, the upcoming season will see a massive shift with series lead Ruby Rose being replaced by Javicia Leslie. She will play a new character named Ryan Wilder with Kate Kane’s disappearance being at the center of the second season’s story. Rachel Skarsten remains as the villainous Alice but will be joined by Shivani Ghai as Safiyah Sohail. Now, they are also adding the classic character of Victor Zsasz. He will be played by Gotham veteran Alex Morf, who played the gang leader Sykes. He also appeared in Mindhunter and Daredevil. His version of the character is described as follows.

A charismatic, skilled hitman with high, unpredictable energy. He proudly carves tally marks onto his skin for every victim he kills.

Well, it certainly sounds like Zsasz. The character’s iconic aspect is the carving of his victim count into his skin. We will see just how many people he has killed by the time the show rolls around and unveils his scars. The character has also appeared in Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn played by Chris Messina. Anthony Carrigan got a chance to play him in Gotham. It will be interesting to see what Mof brings to the table as the iconic character. We are curious how they will tie Wilder’s character to the larger Batman mythos that was teased throughout the first season. We did get introduced to this universe’s version of Hush, so there is a good chance he works for him throughout the season.

  • ‘Batwoman’ BTS Pictures Offer First Look at Javicia Leslie in Costume and Batmobile

‘Batwoman’ BTS Pictures Offer First Look at Javicia Leslie in Costume and Batmobile

Batwoman has just recently started production on its second season. The upcoming season will see a major change for the series as Rubie Rose left the show. Luckily, the team didn’t waste time and Javicia Leslie joined the show. She will play an original character named Ryan Wilder. The disappearance of Kate Kane will be a plot point throughout the season that will be explored. We’ve gotten smaller teases here and there of what she may look like in the costume. There was also the question if they would completely redesign it. Well, looks like they stayed true to the design from the previous season. We got a tease by the actress alongside a set photo of her full design.

.The costume looks great on Leslie. It is pretty much the exact same costume that Rose wore last season. They are still early in development so they may also be working on a second version of the costume that she wears later on. She is wearing the red wig that is a staple of the character’s comic design. So, there is a good chance this will remain the same as it is an iconic visual alongside the red bat symbol. There is, however, one brand new addition to the upcoming season. The website Canadagraphs got their hands on an image that seems to show what could be the Batmobile.

It is a little difficult to make out but it seems to be some kind of supercar. What makes it stand out are the MoCap tags stuck to it. So, this means they will most likely change it with CGI once filming has finished. The show has to work on a budget so we won’t be seeing anything near 1989’s Batman or the Tumblr from Batman Begins. It is still great to see it make an appearance after Kane spent the first season mostly using her private motorcycle. At least this way if Wilder drives to the Batcave she won’t be easy to track. According to Canadagraphs, the scene involves Batwoman trying to jump into the bus that belongs to Crows Security. Hopefully, they will reveal a render of what the Batmobile might look like once they added the effects.

  • ‘SUPERGIRL’ To End With Season 6

‘SUPERGIRL’ To End With Season 6

Following a cliffhanger ending to its fifth season, Supergirl is set to make one final flight in 2021. The show is set to end with the conclusion of its upcoming sixth season. It is set to begin production later this month and will consist of 20 episodes. As a result of the pandemic, the last season had to end production early, so this will be a direct continuation. It is unclear if Mellissa Benoist or David Harewood will have a future with the establishment of the Justice League but it seems likely. It’ll be interesting to see how they wrap up the series and what it means for the Arrowverse overall. Benoist recent tweet on the cancelation may be an indicator that Supergirl won’t be sticking around.

    https://twitter.com/MelissaBenoist/status/1308507326752514048?s=19

The show first premiered on CBS but moved to CW for its second season. There it became a staple in the channels comic book line-up. It followed Kara Zor-El, the long lost cousin of Kal-El. She was lost in the Phantom Zone before she eventually landed on earth and taking up the mantle of Supergirl. Eventually, she would make up one-third of the universes trinity alongside Green Arrow and The Flash. The conclusion was confirmed by Berlanti Productions on Tuesday.

This news doesn’t feel all that shocking due to the development of Superman and Lois. It is planned to follow the post-crisis life of Clark and Lois who now, as a result of Crisis, have two teenage sons. They’ve also moved back to Smallville where Clark will learn to balance the life of hero and a father. Superman and Lois will be joining The FlashLegends of Tomorrow, Black Lightning, and Batwoman. The latter’s second season will introduce us to Javicia Leslie, who will take up the mantle of Batwoman following Ruby Rose’s exit.

  • ‘Batwoman’ Season 2 Officially Started Production

‘Batwoman’ Season 2 Officially Started Production

Looks like CW is slowly starting its show’s productions. In an official tweet by Batwoman‘s account, Camrus Johnson and Nicole Kang shared a video from the set confirming that production has started for the upcoming second season. This will see a massive change with Javicia Leslie taking over the lead from Ruby Rose. It is good to see that Luke Fox and Mary Hamilton will remain as part of the main cast. They will help Javicia‘s character ease into her new role as Batwoman, while they uncover what happened to Kate Kane.

The last season ended earlier due to the pandemic. Alice poisoned her closest ally, as Mouse was just about to leave her. Hush finally made his dream come true, as Alice gave him the face he always desired. Now, he looks like Bruce Wayne. Somehow he looks nothing like Kevin Conroy, who Kate seemed to recognize during the Crisis on Infinite Earth’s crossover. We get a tie-in to Supergirl, as Kate reveals she is still in possession of kryptonite that Cara entrusted to her.

The ending kept a lot of storylines open. It is uncertain if Alice will return, as her relationship with Kate was the main focus throughout the season. We still don’t know why exactly Bruce Wayne left Gotham behind. There is the plot thread with the death of Lucius Fox potentially leading to a bigger mystery. It will be interesting to see how they tie everything together while making way for Javicia‘s to take over as the new Batwoman.

  • CW Developing Live-Action ‘Powerpuff Girls’ Series

CW Developing Live-Action ‘Powerpuff Girls’ Series

No, you read that right. CW has started development on a brand new live-action series based on the popular Cartoon Network show Powerpuff Girls. It will be another Berlanti Production with Diablo Cody, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and David Madden as executive producers. Berlanti is well-known for his work on YouRiverdaleDawson’s Creek, and the Arrowverse shows. They are certainly no strangers to CW and this seems to be in their wheelhouse.

According to Variety, the show will focus on the titular characters in their 20s. They have drifted apart and are resentful for wasting their childhood fighting crime. So, we can expect a lot of teen angst throughout the series with plenty of drama. We can probably expect something in the vein of CW’s Riverdale meets The Flash.

Of all series to adapt, this is a strange one. It just recently received a remake that was met with mixed reviews. The designs are also unique, so it’s a show that won’t be easy to translate into live-action. CW had quite the success with their darker adaptations of classic IPs. Yet, I am just having a hard time wrapping my head around this concept. Even as they faced some darker foes like HIM, it still was more comedy driven. Perhaps this version will tie-in to the Gorillaz, as Ace from the Gangreen Gang temporarily became their drummer. At the end of the day, I am quite curious about how they’re going to attempt this adaptation. We’ll have to wait and see what they cook up with Chemical X.

  • Javicia Leslie is CW’s New Batwoman

Javicia Leslie is CW’s New Batwoman

Batwoman has found a new its new caped heroine in Javicia Leslie, the actress is set to make her debut in its upcoming sophomore season on the CW network. Leslie will replace previous lead Ruby Rose, who departed the show after its first season due to being unhappy with the long hours spent on set.

Leslie will be portraying Ryan Wilder, a new and original character that is described as “likable, messy, a little goofy, and untamed” and apparently the complete opposite of Kane. This leaves the door open for Rose to at any point reprise the role for a guest appearance or two.

It’ll be interesting to see how the show introduces Wilder; it has yet to be disclosed whether we’ll see this show move to another earth or if she will simply take up the mantle of Batwoman on earth-prime. Batwoman ended it first season earlier than planned due to the pandemic not allowing it to finish filming its last few episodes.

According to a trade report, Leslie had this to say about the news “I am extremely proud to be the first Black actress to play the iconic role of Bawoman on television, and as a bisexual woman, I am honored to join this groundbreaking show which has been such a trailblazer for the LGBTQ+ community.”
