  • First ‘Superman and Lois’ Trailer Released

First ‘Superman and Lois’ Trailer Released

CW has been making some curious changes lately. The Arrowverse seemed to be facing a shift, as many long-term shows were getting canceled. They even decided not to move forward with the Arrow spin-off Green Arrow and the CanariesBlack Lightning and Supergirl are also on their way out, which may signal a new direction. DC has been focusing a lot on adding to HBO Max’s line-up, which may be a reason for this reshuffling. It isn’t the end of an era, as CW has a brand new DC show on the horizon. The CW has greenlit a brand new series titled Superman & Lois. It will focus on the Man of Steel trying to juggle his responsibilities as a hero and taking care of his children. After a long wait, we finally got a first look trailer at the upcoming series, which you can check out here:

The trailer looks very promising. Clark trying to balance his family and superhero life makes for a great premise. Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch are perfect choices for the CW’s version of the iconic power couple. The series is set within the Arrowverse continuity, so we might see Supergirl or other heroes could make an appearance throughout the season. We already got the tease that David Ramsey’s John Diggle was going to return, and he also directed an episode for the show. The first trailer certainly teases a great new addition to the Arrowverse line-up. We will see how crazy things get as Clark tries to regain some kind of normalcy.

  • ‘The Flash’ Season 7 Adds Jon Cor as Villain Chillblaine

‘The Flash’ Season 7 Adds Jon Cor as Villain Chillblaine

The Flash was another show that suffered multiple delays due to the ongoing pandemic. The show even missed its usual Fall premiere. As such, the last time we saw Barry Allen, he was facing off against Eva McCulloch, also known as the Mirror Mistress. Sadly, another casualty of the pandemic, the season came to an abrupt end. Along with many other shows, The Flash was unable to finish production in time to wrap up its season finale. Still, it won’t stop us from speculating what we can expect in the upcoming seventh season.

The upcoming season was rumored to feature multiple villains, such as the returning Bloodwork and Godspeed. It looks like one more is joining the fray. It seems that Jon Cor has officially joined the cast as the villain Chillblaine. The Flash has yet another icy foe to face. It also offered a breakdown of his character profile:

Mark Stevens is a charismatic bad boy obsessed with cryogenic technology. But when he’s not breaking into corporate safes, he’s busy breaking hearts with his irresistible charm and roguish style. Armed with his own cold weapons, he’ll become a new thorn in the side of Team Flash as the DC Comics villain Chillblaine.

He made his debut back in 1992. Lisa Snart recruited him as a replacement for Captain Cold. The character was armed with Snart’s Cryo Gun and began running with the Rouges. Cor seems to be playing a new version. According to the description, he may have various cryo-based weapons at his disposal to stand out from his cold predecessor. Lisa Snart is currently not listed for the upcoming season, so his origins might be detached from her and reinvented for the new season. We’ll find out more once the show finally airs in February.

  • ‘Batwoman’ Showrunner Carline Dries Confirms Black Mask for the Second Season

‘Batwoman’ Showrunner Carline Dries Confirms Black Mask for the Second Season

Batwoman is about to shake things up with its upcoming season. Javicia Leslie is taking over the mantle with her original character Ryan Wilder after Kate Kane has gone missing. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Caroline Dries discussed what we can expect from the second season, most notably, the villains that will make Wilder’s life quite complicated. In it, she reveals that a fan-favorite of Batman’s rogue gallery will make his CW premiere.

We have a couple big bads this season. One, [who] we teed up midway through last season, is this woman Safiyah, and she’s sort of Alice’s Achilles’ Heel. And ultimately yes with the False Face Society, we will see the leader of this gang as Black Mask later on in the season

It seems that the False Face Society will have a larger role throughout the series, as they will be responsible for their drug dealing. According to Dries, a big aspect of Wilder’s character is tied to it. At one point, she was in a relationship with someone who did drugs, which got her in jail. As such, she has a very personal vendetta against anyone pushing drugs in Gotham.

So far, they have not named who exactly is playing Black Mask. Shivaani Ghai is playing one of the big bad, Safiyah. Alice (Rachel Skarsten) is set to return as well, who might be on the hunt to find out what happened to her sister. So far, there is no exact casting announced for Black Mask, but we could get some info as we near the show’s premiere. Ewan McGregor just recently played the character of Black Mask in Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn, so some viewers might be familiar with the mask-wearing mafia boss once Batwoman returns on January 17th.

  • ‘Fortnite’ Leaks Reveal Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Green Arrow & More

‘Fortnite’ Leaks Reveal Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Green Arrow & More

Looks like the current season is taking skins from all over the multiverse, as recent leaks for Fornite have revealed a variety of new skins joining this season. During the Game Awards, they revealed Halo‘s Master Chief and two characters from The Walking Dead were joining. Many wondered if we would also see more skins from Marvel after they took over the last season. Well, it looks like they weren’t quite done yet, as a group of well-known Fortnite hackers took to Twitter to share a variety of new skins showing off Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and even a comic-accurate Taskmaster.

That is not all, as we also got the reveal for a DC skin based on the popular CW show Arrow will be included in the game based on Stephen Amell‘s iconic rendition. We also get a good look at the entire set, which reveals the character’s iconic punching arrow and a quiver.

Nintendo fans are hoping for the potential addition of Samus Aran from Metroid. She would make complete sense within the wacky Battle Royale world, and it seems there are no limits on who they might include at this point. So, whoever had their fantasy of having Stephen Amell‘s Green Arrow take on Deadpool can do so now. Now that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate announced Sephiroth as their next DLC character, could we see Sora end up on Fornite?

  • ‘Superman and Lois’: First Official Look at Tyler Hoechlins New Suit

‘Superman and Lois’: First Official Look at Tyler Hoechlins New Suit

Since his first appearance on Supergirl, Tyler Hoechlin’s Clark Kent has sported the same suit with one exception. He was allowed to wear a black variant in the Elseworlds crossover, but that was technically Doctor Destiny pretending to be Clark via the Book of Destiny. Never the less, he was bound for an upgrade sooner or later. Now, the first season of Superman and Lois is set to hit the CW early next year as the newest addition to the Arrowverse. Hoechlin also is finally getting the suit upgrade.

The CW officially revealed Clarks newest look for the upcoming spin-off series. We finally got a good look at what was seen in leaked set photos that made their rounds a while back. This new look is almost identical to the outfit that Clark wears in the current Rebirth comic runs that feature the character. He finally dumped those dreaded cape clips that had plagued the suit since his debut in Supergirl. Also, they finally added a much better belt to what seems to be a much stiffer bodysuit. I think it might just be how the arms are positioned, but it looks tough to move in that, especially forearms.

Superman and Lois is currently in production and is set to debut early next year on the CW network. It will have a 13 episode run, unlike other CW’s network show. The show will feature the iconic comic couple juggling their everyday lives while raising their children. It is part of the fallout that resulted from the Crisis event that shook the Arrowverse to its core, rebooting the multiverse into something much bigger and brighter. Superman and Lois are one of a few new projects at the CW with shows like Wonder-Girl and Naomi.

  • ‘Stargirl’: Sportsmaster and Tigress to Return for Season 2

‘Stargirl’: Sportsmaster and Tigress to Return for Season 2

At the end of Stargirl‘s first season, we saw the downfall of the Injustice Society at the hands of the new Justice Society of America. Among those members were the standouts Sportsmaster and Tigress. The last time we saw them, they were lying unconscious within the ISA base after a shattering defeat at the hands of Hourman and Stargirl. It was never made clear if the dangerous duo had been arrested or was able to escape. Well, it looks like we’ll soon find out, as both Tigress and Sportsmaster will make a brief return in the sophomore season of Stargirl.

Sportsmaster actor, Neile Hopkins, took to Instagram to confirm that he and Joy Osmanski were both returning to set for what might be a single episode. They aren’t suited up, so they might get interrogated for information on the latest enemies, Eclipso and Shade. So, it could be just a brief appearance. Hopkins also confirms that director Lea Thompson would be returning to direct the upcoming season. It is unclear if she will only be working on one episode, but a return is nonetheless exciting, as her work on the previous season was nothing short of great.

Stargirl‘s second season is still in production with no set release date. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see it release around the same time, as its first season. It made its debut around mid-May, which would seem like a fitting estimate. The second season will see the team face the might of Eclipso after Cindy Burman accidentally released him from his crystalline prison. He will be working alongside veteran ISA member Shade to keep the newly established next-generation JSA on their toes.

  • Ava DuVernay Adapting DC’s ‘Naomi’ as a CW Series

Ava DuVernay Adapting DC’s ‘Naomi’ as a CW Series

The Arrowverse has gone through quite the shakeup in the past year. Recently, we’ve seen reports almost weekly on shows getting canceled, such as Black Lightning, while brand new ones already being in development. One of those being Wonder Girl, based on Yara Flor. Well, now it seems the CW will be adding yet another DC comic book property to its roster with Ava DuVernay jumping into the world of DC yet again.

The report states that she will develop a live-action series based on the hero Naomi. She was born from two of the twenty-nine people who received god-like abilities after some form of radiation broke through her Earth’s shattered ozone layer. Naomi traveled to Earth-Prime to hide from Zumbado, one of the twenty-nine’s most sinister members. He sought to end the child so that he could prove his strength. The series is produced by DuVernary and her production company, Array. Former Arrow writer and executive producer Jill Blankenship will write the story.

The character of Naomi is pretty new, as she made her debut just last year in her very own solo title by the same name. She was created by comic book vet Brian Michael Bendis, who responsible for characters like Miles Morales, Jessica Jones, and Iron Heart. This property is not DuVernay‘s first venture into the DC Universe, as she is currently working on an adaption of DMZ, as well as co-writing a New Gods film alongside Tom King. She will also direct the blockbuster and has been very enthusiastic about tackling the iconic characters created by Jack Kirby. This show also seems to be one of the first DCTV Properties not to fall under Greg Berlanti, who’s pioneered the superhero television genre since the beginning of Arrow.

  • David Ramsey Returns to CW’s Arrowverse as John Diggle and a Mystery Character

David Ramsey Returns to CW’s Arrowverse as John Diggle and a Mystery Character

Since the dawn of the Arrowverse, alongside Oliver Queen was his trusted confidant and partner in crime David Ramsey‘s John Diggle. Throughout the series, Diggle would come to take up the mantle of Spartan and became a permanent member of Team Arrow, as he joined Oliver in his crusade across Star City. Towards the end of the recent mega-crossover Crisis on Infinite Earths, we last saw Diggle packing up his things and moving to Metropolis. Shortly before he made his way to a new home, he came into contact with what looked to be Green Lantern Ring. For years it had become a running tease that Diggle would assume the role of a Green Lantern but never came to be but seems all the more likely now.

It looks like David Ramsey will be returning to the Arrowverse to direct and reprise his role as John Diggle in multiple episodes across the network lineup of DC-based series. He will return to direct episodes of The FlashSuperman and LoisSupergirlBatwoman, and even Legends of Tomorrow. Not just that, Ramsey will also be playing a mystery role in his episode on Legends of Tomorrow. Most fans could easily conclude that his role will be that of a Sector-2814 Green Lantern, especially after the tease his story ended on.

While we may not know until he officially returns on screen, it would be great to finally see Diggle assume the title once the Arrowverse makes its long-awaited return in 2021. The Arrowverse suffered some big hits this year. Every production got a delay, and then news broke that fan-favorite shows Supergirl and Black Lightning would come to an end. All this right after the show that started it all officially ended with its eight-season. Perhaps the return of Diggle might be a new beginning for the franchise in the new year.

  • RUMOR: ‘Stargirl’ Cast Alkoya Brunson as Jakeem Thunder

RUMOR: ‘Stargirl’ Cast Alkoya Brunson as Jakeem Thunder

Stargirl‘s first season focused heavily on the legacy left behind by the Justice Society of America. It was about honoring those that came before, as a younger generation came together to form a new JSA when the world needed them most. The second season is sure to follow suit, with the rumored inclusion of Jade, the daughter of Alan Scott, and now the debut of Jakeem Thunder.

It’s being reported that young actor Alkoya Brunson has been cast as the latest hero to join the JSA, Jakeem Thunder. This news comes a few weeks after we received word that Comedian/Actor Jim Gaffigan would be voicing Thunderbolt, the entity that lives within the pink pen. The very one that Pat has warned Courtney not to touch on so many occasions. It once belonged to the JSA member Johnny Thunder. It’s unclear how Johnny died as he wasn’t in the opening scene of the previous season.

Stargirl‘s second season is already in production. It will feature the return of Brec Bassinger as the titular character, as well as her JSA teammates Luke Wilson, Yvette MonrealCameron Gelman, and Anjelika Washington. The next season will see the team face the likes of Shade and the recently unleashed Eclipso.

  • Latino Led ‘Wonder Girl’ Series In the Works at CW

Latino Led ‘Wonder Girl’ Series In the Works at CW

With Arrow out the door and Supergirl soon to follow, the ranks of the Arrowverse seemingly began to dwindle. With the arrival of Superman and Lois and the recent announcement of the Painkiller series, which starts through a backdoor pilot on Black Lightning, it seems the CW’s world of heroes won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. Another hero will be joining the ranks of the CW with the announcement of Wonder Girl. This announcement will mark the first Latino superhero title for DC’s TV expansion.

The show will follow Yara Flor, the daughter of an Amazon warrior and a Brazilian River Goddess. The series is helmed by Dailyn Rodriguez, who is working alongside Greg Berlanti. She has recently been co-running Queen of the South for two seasons. It will become another show under the expansive umbrella of Berlanti Productions, joining shows like TitansDoom PatrolLegends of TomorrowBlack Lightning, and The Flash.

Yara Flor has yet to make her debut in comics but is set to debut in the upcoming DC Future State event. Flor has been the breakout character since the announcement, as she drummed up a lot of attention. Many fans were already excited to find out her origins just based on her initial designs and reveal. She will also be the focus of her own comic series written by Joëlle Jones. The character’s popularity to get a show before her comic debut is quite the move by DC and CW. It just proves how strong a concept can be, especially as it will help cement the character in the public concious before her debut.
