    Rosario Dawson Recants Punisher Statement: “I Can’t Be Trusted”

    Rosario Dawson made quite a stir at C2E2 2022 when she told an excited crowd that she had just learned that the “Punisher was happening again.” Dawson, who starred in many of the Netflix Defenders-verse series got fans fired up while sharing her own enthusiasm for the return on the character, mentioning that Punisher was the only one of the Marvel Netflix streamers she didn’t appear in. As it turns out, Dawson may have to wait even longer to find her way into a Punisher series.

    In a late-night tweet, Dawson clarified her comments, indicating that she had been told by a fan that the Punisher was coming back and that she had simply been excited to hear the news herself, given her hopes to work on the series.

    The buzz around Jon Bernthal’s return to the character has been building online and it looks like the inability of fans to think critically about what they read played a hand in Dawson’s comments. While fans may be disappointed to learn that Dawson wasn’t passing along any official confirmation, they shouldn’t lose hope that Bernthal and/or Frank Castle might make their way to the MCU someday. With Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onoforio reprising their roles, the door will remain open for others from the Defenders-verse to walk through it as well, should the right opportunity arise.

    ‘Daredevil’ Actress May Have Confirmed Jon Bernthal’s MCU Return as Punisher

    Not sure what is happening over at C2E 2022 but the event has become a breeding ground for leaks on Marvel Studios’ future projects. Not only did Giancarlo Esposito confirm he’s had talks with Marvel Studios and is interested in tackling the role of Professor X, but it seems that Daredevil actress Rosario Dawson has also just revealed that Jon Bernthal will return in the role as The Punisher in a future project.

    The short video comes from a conference that the Ahsoka star is currently attending at C2E 2022, as shared by Knight Edge Media’s Caleb Williams. It’s unclear if she’s involved with any future projects, as she took on the role of Night Nurse for the ground-level stories explored on Netflix, which may be how she was informed about it.

    Bernthal was among the Netflix cast that many hoped to return in the role that he made his own. While there were many actors that took on the role in the past, he definitely added something very raw to the role that’s worth exploring more in a bigger universe. Anyone who doesn’t want to see him and Strange travel through dimensions taking down weird mystical creatures is really underestimating the potential that the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars has in store for us if this turns out true.

    New ‘She-Hulk’ Storyboard Reveals Familiar Daredevil Costume

    While all eyes are on She-Hulk adding another great new Marvel icon to the Marvel Cinematic Universe,e the return of another familiar superhero is what everyone is talking bout right now. After making his MCU return in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Charlie Cox is set to take on the mantle of Daredevil in the upcoming series. The second trailer for the Disney+ series confirmed his return and even gave us a glimpse at a yellow take on his costume; an exciting addition for comics fans.

    Yet, it turns out that at one point the project may have almost featured the red version of his costume, or at least it was something they included in earlier storyboards. Jeremy Simster who has worked on various projects for Marvel, Game of Thrones, and The Boys shared a new look at a shot featured in the latest promo. It was the best look we had yet of Daredevil in his iconic yellow costume, but it seemingly features a red version that could’ve been considered early on in the She-Hulk development process.

    It’s great to see the storyboard artists’ excitement to bring Daredevil to life and his addition to the upcoming series is definitely going to be something many are looking forward to. Charlie Cox‘s return is something really bitter-sweet and adds a lot more to the Netflix era of the franchise, which had a more grounded offering of Marve fair. We’ll see how it potentially connects to the original and if the upcoming Born Again Disney+ series takes some cues from that era.

    New Look At Daredevil in ‘She-Hulk’ Revealed

    This month’s She-Hulk is bound to have a lot of secrets. But one secret that Disney seems keen on openly sharing with the world is that Daredevil is in it. The last trailer gave us a glimpse at the Man Without Fear’s yellow costume and now, a new image gives us a better look at the mask.

    Eagle-eyed fans would know that this is practically the same as the most recent suit he had in the Netflix show, albeit with a different paint job. There’s a slight difference in his collar which is larger than usual. Other than that it’s the same costume. Overall, it’s a very exciting look for the character who has spent the majority of his screentime in the Daredevil series in pajamas.

    Tatiana Maslany Teases She-Hulk and Daredevil’s Dynamic in Disney+ Series

    Disney has been busy today promoting its upcoming project during this summer’s TCA, and one of the panels was for the upcoming She-Hulk: Attorney at Law series. While they naturally didn’t reveal any information bout the show’s plots or characters, they did give a hint at what we can expect from the dynamic between Jennifer Walters’ She-Hulk and the return of an in-costume Daredevil.

    Charlie Cox‘s return is something many are excited about and it was naturally the first question asked. While they couldn’t give away any details, Kat Coiro, the director of the She-Hulk series, teased the dynamic between the two unlikely allies. It seems that we can expect them to “match wits” throughout their time on screen together. Here’s the full quote as shared by Brett White from the event:

    His return is definitely something many are looking forward to and with Disney+’s growing streaming base and offerings, we’re excited to see what their future also has in store. Cox had his fair share of great lines in the Netflix series and it’ll be great to see him carry over that dynamic going into his new Disney+ run, also setting up his characterization in the upcoming projects.

    ‘She-Hulk’ Director Teases How Daredevil Fits Into Series

    She-Hulk is about to make her big debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and she won’t be alone when she does it. Mark Ruffalo will star in the series alongside Tatiana Maslany, reprising his role as Dr. Bruce Banner from previous Marvel entries, acting as Jennifer Walters’ cousin and mentor. Yet, Ruffalo is still not the co-star fans are most excited to see when She-Hulk: Attorney at Law premieres on August 18th. Charlie Cox was finally confirmed to be returning as Matt Murdock, a.k.a. the blind vigilante Daredevil, at San Diego Comic-Con, and has since become one of the project’s most talked about aspects online.

    In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, series director Kat Coiro discussed the character’s inclusion and what a relief it’s been for the information to be public. While Coiro couldn’t reveal much about Daredevil’s time on the series, she did crack a joke about how perfectly he fit into the world of She-Hulk as both a fellow lawyer and superhero:

    Can I tell you how excited I was when the audience was able to see that and I realized that I did not have to keep that secret anymore? Yes, Daredevil is in the show. I mean, how can you have a legal comedy and not have Daredevil come into it?

    Head writer Jessica Gao previously mentioned the writers thought Marvel’s approval of Daredevil in the series was a prank, and Coiro‘s excitement seems to sell that comment as being true. Continuing to elaborate, the director explained how Matt Murdock and Jennifer Walters interact as equals, and referred to Daredevil as the expected “crowd favorite” of the show:

    They match each other’s wits, is what I can say. I am definitely excited for Daredevil to make his appearance, because I think he’s going to be a crowd favorite. But I can’t tell you anything else about that. The Marvel police is a real thing and I don’t want to get arrested by them

    It’s not currently known how much Daredevil will actually be present in the show’s runtime, but the trailer tease and the constant hype coming from the project’s creative team at least indicate his appearance will be special. Even if the Man Without Fear is only in a single episode, fans still have Echo and Daredevil: Born Again to look forward to on Disney+.

    ‘She-Hulk’ Writer Thought Daredevil Appearance Was a Prank

    There was already a lot to be excited about in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, but the latest trailer might have given fans their biggest reason to tune in yet. In the footage released by Marvel Studios at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, it was officially revealed that Charlie Cox would be returning to his role as the vigilante Daredevil at some point in the series run.

    Decked out in his classic yellow-and-red attire, this will be the first time viewers see Cox in action since Daredevil was canceled by Netflix in 2018, and the second time he’ll appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe following a brief cameo in last year’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. The return is a long time coming, but the opportunity to put Daredevil in their show never felt real to the creatives working behind the scenes.

    In a recent interview with Collider, She-Hulk head writer Jessica Gao explained that the writer’s room thought they were being pranked when Marvel told them Daredevil was available to use:

    I don’t think we ever, in a million years, thought that we would be allowed to use them, because we didn’t know what the status was of the character. And then, I can’t remember how, we got wind that he was coming back and that it was Charlie Cox, and we were like, ‘Wait, does that I mean we can use him? Are we allowed?’ And when they told us yeah, I mean, we couldn’t believe it, we thought we were being pranked.

    As surreal as it may have been, the inclusion actually makes a lot of sense. Both Daredevil and She-Hulk are lawyers in the Marvel universe, and they both deal with the same corner of C and D-List villains in and out of the courtroom. This must have provided plenty of room to throw Matt Murdock in the mix, as Gao continued to reveal there’s more Devil of Hell’s Kitchen in the series than originally expected:

    We just kept writing him in, and we kept rolling with the story just thinking like, ‘Okay, any moment now they’re going to tell us we can’t use them. They made a mistake. They actually don’t have the rights.’ But it just kept [becoming] more and more real. And it was so hard to keep that secret!

    SDCC: ‘She-Hulk’ Trailer Offers First Tease of Daredevil’s Yellow Suit

    The latest trailer for She-Hulk has finally dropped and what has caught everyone off-guard is the fact that it gave us our best look yet at Matt Murdock’s return, once again played by Charlie Cox. While we did get to see him in Spider-Man: No Way Home, this trailer offered our best look at him in his Daredevil costume, which is taking a different direction. Instead of his usual red or black fare, he’s sporting a yellow look this time around.

    SDCC: ‘Daredevil’ is Born Again With New Disney+ Series, Running for 18 Episodes

    It’s not been too long since we first heard rumblings of Daredevil getting his own Disney+ series. Charlie Cox‘s return to the Marvel universe in Spider-Man: No Way Home was a big surprise for many and set his slow return to the franchise. Now, we finally got the announcement that the series is definitely coming and even has received a new title, as it is heading to Disney+ as Daredevil: Born Again. That#s not all, as it’ll seemingly run for 18 episodes.

    The Hypothetical 2024 Marvel Studios Release Calendar, V2

    Tentatively set to go into production next Spring, Deadpool 3 could kick off Marvel Studios’ theatrical slate in 2024.

    Originally the WandaVision spinoff looked like it might be ready in time for a late-2023 release, maybe even as early as Halloween. But production delays on other projects seem to have shoved the start of production on Agatha: House of Harkness to the first quarter of 2023, making it likely we won’t see the Kathryn Hahn-led streamer until 2024.

    With director Jake Schreier on board and a script by Black Widow scribe Eric Pearson ready to go, Thunderbolts is expected to go into production next summer, making it a very likely candidate for the May release. While details on the project are currently non-existent, Julia Louis-Dreyfus‘ Val will have her team complete by then so expect to see Florence Pugh and Wyatt Russell back.

    Even though Marvel Studios is still pretending that Charlie Cox isn’t going to be in She-Hulk, trade reports did confirm that he will show up in Echo and that a solo Daredevil project will follow. It was only a matter of time before the Man Without Fear got his own Marvel Studios streaming series and it looks like he’ll be joined by another one of Netflix’s Defenders, with Krysten Ritter rumored to be on board as well. Expect the events of Echo to dovetail right into this series, allowing Marvel Studios to start building out that corner of the MCU.

    Unfortunately, there are very few surprises left about Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. One of them, however, is how the events of the film will lead to this spinoff series…and we’re happy to keep it that way. Ryan Coogler has created an expansive world within the MCU and Midnight Angels is just one example of that. Reports indicate it’ll go into production next summer, so a Summer 2024 debut on D+ sounds right.

    After a bit of wheel-spinning, a director was found for this project in Julius Onah. Onah is working with the writing crew of Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson, who will continue their work on Sam Wilson’s story as Cap that began in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, so the continuity should be fantastic. Maybe fans will get a subtitle for this film soon and get some idea of what direction Captain America will be headed in.

    The most pleasant surprise on this list, the Wonder Man streaming series, co-created by Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest, who will also serve as the series’ head writer, should go into production next year, giving it as good of an opportunity as any other series to make the 2024 slate. All eyes will be on who Marvel Studios casts as Simon Williams, with a potential announcement coming at SDCC or D23.

    With Jon Watts now off the project, Marvel Studios is working hard to find a director for their Fantastic Four. Word is that they have been chasing some big names, though several reports have surfaced that indicate Steven Spielberg, arguably the biggest name on their list, won’t be the man behind the camera. Spielberg or no Spielberg, Marvel Studios hopes to have a director on board before long so they can get this one into production in the Fall of 2023, allowing it to make the November 8th date.

    Marvel Studios has several animated projects at different points of production and any one of them could fill this end-of-the-year spot. Of them all, it seems like Spider-Man: Freshman Year should be the furthest along and would fit nicely in 2024 since fans would otherwise be looking at a potential 4-year gap between MCU Spidey projects. A canonical animated series that’ll give fans a little more of Peter’s MCU origin seems like a great way to wrap up a PACKED 2024.
