WandaVision has come to an end, so all eyes are on Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘s upcoming release. Still, Marvel Studios has been busy developing their various Disney+ series. It looks like the upcoming adaptation of She-Hulk is already well-underway getting its cast together. Illuminerdi has revealed that the series will add a female alien shapeshifter for two episodes. She is described as someone who loves to use her abilities to get “power, money, and attention”. It also states she has an affinity for Earth’s pop culture, which confirms she is from space. The character is being cast under the hilarious code name, A’Dood. Now, the most likely candidate would be the Skrull, Jazinda Kl’rt-Spawn, as Illuminerdi is also theorizing.
For those wondering who this character might be, she is the daughter of the Super-Skrull Kl’rt. After being exiled from the Skrull Empire, she started a new life on Earth. There, she saved She-Hulk’s life and ended up working alongside her for Freeman Bonding Incorporated, which is a bail bond specialized in superhuman law. It is a subsidiary of the Law Firm of Goodman, Lieber, Kurtzberg & Holliway, where Jennifer Walter would eventually work.
Now, there’s also the chance the shapeshifter ends up being a different character who has ties to the previously-mentioned law firm. There was also Ditto, who ended up being the cause why Titania attacked Timely Plaza. Yet, why introduce a brand new alien race of shapeshifters after they spend a lot of time focusing on the Skrulls? It would also allow the show to tie into the upcoming Secret Invasion Disney+ series, which will adapt the iconic storyline from 2008. In the comics, Jazinda was informed about the invasion but chose not to tell anyone at the time. It will be interesting to see how this character ties into the overarching story.
Eight weeks have passed since the WandaVisionpremiere and we’re now finally able to look back at the show as a whole. Being the first Marvel Studios production to use the more traditional television episodic format we knew from the start that its end product would differ from the usual theatrical releases, and we got exactly that. What audiences would probably not be expecting, especially coming from the MCU, was that the show would pack such a huge emotional punch.
Marvel movies have always been characterized by the brilliance of the action pieces, the larger-than-life characters, and the growing spectacle that’s been developing in every single theatrical release for over a decade. We’ve certainly have had our share of emotional moments throughout, but the biggest ones have always been towards characters that have been developed in several movies, with an immense amount of screentime at their disposal. When this is the case, it’s easier to connect with audiences for the simple fact that those characters have been there for the amount of time that they have, and attachments are naturally created.
But WandaVisionmanages to accomplish the same thing with characters that were either just now added into the MCU or that have had limited screentime ever since their introduction, which is hardly easy. Many fans already had a soft spot for both Wanda or/and The Vision and that obviously helped, but the writing on the show was competent enough to take that to a whole new level, as they brought both Billy and Tommy along for the ride.
The show was always, at the core, about family. About the family we lose, the family we gain, the family we cherish, the family that makes us who we are, and perhaps most importantly, the family that makes us want to be better, something Wanda ended up doing by the end of the show. WandaVisionwas brilliant in the way it showed us just how much family truly means, how far we’re willing to go to bring happiness to the ones we love, even if sometimes in a somewhat (to put it mildly) selfish manner. Wanda and Vision’s love for each other and their children became as real as it gets, with them always wearing their hearts on their sleeves regarding the twins. They were always the first thing on their minds whenever danger was looming, and even Wanda’s immediate reflex when seeing that both would be gone if she released everybody from the Hex was to save them, not the entire town even if she knew that was what needed to be done. She showed us that she would put everything on the line just the keep them beside her. But as soon as she understood what needed to happen, she left them with words that only enhance their importance to her, and that quite possibly are even a small hint of events still to come:
You know… a family is forever. We could never truly leave each other, even if we tried.
If WandaVisionwas about Wanda discovering a new family that filled her need for one, we’re sure to be getting Wanda searching for her lost children as the following chapters of her MCU story unfold. It appears that she hasn’t quite given up on it, and bringing back the twins seems like quite the priority, as the post-credit scene seems to suggest. The seeds of this newfound meaning to her journey were planted in the season that just ended, in what is perhaps the greatest achievement of the entire show.
Here’s a crazy theory to throw out. At the end of WandaVision’s seventh episode, it ended with a massive twist. Agnes turned out, as predicted, to be Agatha Harkness. She even got a brand new intro that seemed inspired by The Munsters. As its title implies, she was responsible for some of the actions in the past episodes. It was her that manipulated the drunk Vision and the fake Pietro. Yet, was she really behind it all, as the title states? The latest episode revealed that it was Wanda’s grief that created the Hex. In reality, Agatha may be selfish, but she isn’t the villain that we think she is. There might be a softer side that will get explored in tomorrow’s finale.
The catchy musical entry reveals Agatha’s actions throughout the early shows. We see her manipulate Vision so that the townfolks would realize what is happening. She also frees Herb from Wanda’s control. If you look closely, she does it after he already cut through the wall. In a way, she was trying to reveal something to Vision that would make him realize what is happening. As we learned, the Pietro plotline was to get Vision to explore outside of the hex. So, while she was behind some of the shenanigans, she isn’t the root cause of it all. The latest episode confirms that Wanda created the sitcom world in her grief.
It’s also strange how the episode turns Agatha into a therapist for Wanda. Yes, her ulterior motive is to uncover how she used her abilities, but they tease some humanity. The moment we briefly see her shed a tear when they revisit her time in the Avengers compound solidifies the fact that she isn’t evil for the sake of it. As we are about to enter the final episode, I think Agatha will have a change of heart and support Wanda moving forward. They teased it when she wondered how she had no idea about runes but could put her magic on auto-pilot throughout Westview. She never was a villain in the comics. It was through her that Wanda learned to control chaos magic. The potential of teaching a new incarnation of the Scarlet Witch might be an exciting prospect for her.
Once the new Vision teased in the post-credit sequence enters Westview alongside SWORD, they have a common enemy. She might end up fighting alongside them, as she has no interest in losing a powerful witch like Wanda. Yes, she does absorb the life force of her fellow witches back in Salem. If you pay close attention, she seems to have no control over it. It almost seemed like the purple magic she was dabbling in was protecting her. At the end of the idea, it was self-defense. She didn’t attack them but retaliated when they tried to kill her. So, she is obsessed with mastering magic and has the perfect pupil. I would love to see her and Doctor Strange get into a dispute over who is the better teacher for her. As such, she would follow her comic roots and introduce Wanda and us to the world of witchcraft. It would be a shame to introduce this part of the MCU without exploring its history. After that brief tease at the beginning of the last episode, I want a history lesson on this crazy universe. Plus, I believe it would be a waste not to give Kathryn Hahn more time to shine in this ever-expanding franchise.
The last episode of WandaVisionhelped us see how we got to where we are. There are two major things that were presented clearly in the flashbacks. 1: Wanda has always had powers, 2: Her grief has shaped everything that has happened to her. The combo of those two things led to the BIG psychotic break that recreated the whole town of Westview to fit Wanda’s ideal life, including creating Vision out of nothing.
There are a few unresolved things that are going to have to get worked out in the finale. Vision is headed back to the house where the twins are being held captive by Agatha. Also, Woo, Monica, and Darcy have to wrap up their stories in some way. We also saw that they took Vision apart only to put him back together and create White Vision. Seeing this new version of her dead husband could really add another weight to Wanda’s shoulders.
Arlyn’s Assumptions
The episode is probably going to be pretty intense right away with so many things to work out. Monica is sure to escape “Fietro” and find some way to try to help and finally show off her new powers but is she powerful enough? I think the series is going to end off with Dr. Strange showing up and teaming up with Wanda and the real Vision to defeat White Vision and Agatha. This will end up being a big fight scene that might mess something up in this reality. My one concern is who will fix it? Well there is a new Dr. Strange movie coming out and maybe the whole plot will be trying to fix what Wanda messed up in this reality. Real Vision will not make it out of this mess as the show has proven that he will fall apart outside of the HEX, so if this reality were to fall then he would die. But what about the twins?! With all the loss Wanda has already experienced, losing them too would be too much.
Disney has been busy developing their next live-action adaptations of some of their classic animations. A few days ago, Jessica Alexander joined the upcoming remake of The Little Mermaid. That wasn’t the end of it just yet. They’ve also been busy casting their cast for the Robert Zemeckis-directed Pinocchio. The Wrap has reported that Cynthia Erivo closed a deal to play the Blue Fairy. They also found their Jiminy Cricket. Joseph Gordon-Levitt has joined the production as the helpful companion. They are joining Keegan-Michael Key as Honest John and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, who will voice the titular Pinocchio.
The film will be adapted based on a script by Zemeckis and Chris Weitz. It will start production in the United Kingdom. It is joining other Disney adaptations that will head directly to the Disney+ streaming service once it premieres, as revealed in Disney’s Investors Day. Guillermo del Toro has also been working on a new adaptation of the iconic wooden boy, which will be a far departure from the Disney original. It will be interesting to see how different these two visions will end up being when they release.
Erivo has quite the background. She appeared in the films Widows, Harriet, and the HBO series ‘The Outsiders. She has been quite busy with her debut album and a children’s book on the way as well. The actress will also portray Aretha Franklin in the upcoming series Genius. It is great to see her join the upcoming Disney+ film, and it will be interesting to see what she brings to the role of the Blue Fairy.
Coming off the heels of an incredible season finale of The Mandalorian in December, many Star Wars fans are excited to see where the next story set a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away may take them. Some are excited to continue with the aftermath of Order 66 in The Bad Batch, while others may be waiting to see what the dealings in The Book of Boba Fett have in store for the famed bounty hunter. But amongst the lists of series and films that are coming soon to a galaxy near you is the upcoming Disney+ series, Star Wars: Andor.
Kathleen Kennedy, the President of Lucasfilm, described the series as “a tense nail-biting spy thriller in the Star Wars universe.” Created by TonyGilroy (The Bourne Identity), Diego Luna will reprise his role as Cassian Andor from the spinoff film, Rogue One. He will also be joined by the cast of Stellan Skarsgard, Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough, KyleSoller, and Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma. And it seems that a certain negotiator may have joined their ranks as well.
Our friends at the Illuminerdi are reporting that Ewan McGregor is set to reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi for the upcoming Andor series. What’s interesting is that it reportedly will not be a “one and done” cameo like Luke Skywalker at the end of Season 2 for The Mandalorian, but that he’ll rather have a recurring role in the series. Now, this would certainly serve quite some backstory for the character of Obi-Wan, given that he’s been isolated in Tatooine since the events of Revenge of the Sith all the way until A New Hope. Let’s not forget that we’re also going to be getting an Obi-Wan Kenobi series for Disney+ as well after this, which is set 10 years after the events of Episode III, so it would be interesting to see how the two series will connect with one another.
Some rather interesting quotes on new shirts for the upcoming Loki series have shown up on Amazon and Zazzle recently. It’s likely these quotes are actually spoken in the show, it’s worth a deeper look into their possible meaning and implications for the series.
“The Timeline Wants to Break Free.”
It isn’t entirely clear who might say this first quote in the Loki series, but certainly with the TVA involved and time travel, and a need to explain what’s going on, any number of characters could. One strong possibility is Mr. Mobius played by Owen Wilson saying that while explaining about the importance of keeping the main timeline clear and not allow branching off. This is the TVA’s job, after all, to correct and “snip off” the stray timelines to keep the main timeline, pure and keep the universe in order.

However, the image of Loki there on the shirt with this quote makes it seem like something Loki himself says, perhaps with a mischievous twinkle in his eye. This could be how we end up with a number of Lokis appearing during the course of the series. Loki would certainly enjoy all the naughty chaos this would create. Especially the version of Loki in this series who came from the 2012 Avengers film. The same Loki who is probably still bitter over his defeat and has yet to reconcile with his brother the way he did in Thor: Ragnarok. The implication being, Loki could be suggesting he’s creating different timelines for the fun of it, as a natural order of things for him. To a God of Mischief, a timeline might “want to break free,” and naturally all havoc ensues.
Seige: Loki #1
Mobius and the TVA are sure to have their hands full if they have to deal with this version of Loki, breaking all their methodically thought out rules and regulations. This would set loose many, many timelines, producing a plethora or Lokis to wreak havoc and be a pain in Mobius’ ass in general, and could be a large part of the set up for Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness. The second I saw Loki appearing to work with the TVA in the set pictures released last year, I had a gut feeling Wilson’s character was probably going to wind up regretting that particular partnership. If anyone from TVA thinks they can outsmart or “handle” Loki, they are in for a wild ride that probably won’t end well. Just ask King Laufey.
“What makes a Loki, a Loki?”
The next shirt quote found on some shirts on Amazon, would seem to have a deeper meaning, and certainly support the reports that there will be multiple Lokis in the series.

“A Loki.” Clearly that is a wink and a nod to there being multiple Lokis in the series. But it also appears to be a sign of some introspection from Tom Hiddleston’s lead Loki, and possibly his doppelgangers from other timelines and multiverses. The question of what makes any other of him still Loki, and his struggle to find his true self, as well as a way to finally triumph over Thor or just win the game of life, is something that’s been explored in the comics before as well. He’s been portrayed as an old man, a young man, a child, and a woman, a Frost Giant, an Agardian, a Norse God of many forms, a magician, a warrior, a trickster, a liar, a villain, a hero, a brother and a son. So we may very well see some very different versions of Loki, with likely all of them struggling with similar issues. Among them being: what makes a Loki, a Loki?
Journey Into Mystery #645
How and where and when can any Loki find the right timeline so at least one Loki finally winds up on top? Perhaps we’ll find out what it takes or if it’s even possible for any Loki to “win” this Summer when the much anticipated Disney+ series finally starts streaming.
Marvel Studios is hard at work entering production for various shows. They have surprised us with an onslaught of projects during Disney’s Investor’s Day. The standout was the revelation that the Nick Fury-focused show would get an adaptation of the Secret Invasion storyline. It looks like they have already started casting the Disney+ series, which will feature the return of Samuel L. Jackson‘s Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn‘s Talos. It is still uncertain how they will tackle the 2008 storyline now that the Skrulls got introduced in a positive light during 2019’s Captain Marvel. Illuminerdi has learned that they are currently casting three essential roles for the series.
The first major role will be the main antagonist of the series. They are seeking a male actor in the age range of 50 to 60 years. There was rumbling that they have considered Gary Oldman in the role at one point. There is a good chance, as Illuminerdi points out, the villain might be Dorrekt VII. The character was the Emperor of the Skrull Empire if they stick to the original comic storyline. Now, there is also the role of a female of 40-50 years. She will spend a lot of time alongside Nick Fury, which may indicate it could be the live-action debut of Abigail Brand. She is the leader of SWORD in the comics, which made its debut in WandaVision. The final role will be an essential supporting role. They are currently seeking a younger actress to tackle the role.
The last time we saw Talos and Fury was in the end credits of Spider-Man: Far From Home. We saw the master spy taking a short break on his new space station surrounded by Skrull, which made the reveal of a Secret Invasions series even more interesting. It would make sense for Abigail Brand to work alongside him on that station. It is uncertain how much of it will take place on earth. We still have some time to wait until it releases, but it is already turning into a must-watch.
Star Wars is getting ready to expand in the upcoming years. The Mandalorian kicked-off a variety of spin-offs that got announced during Disney’s Investor Day. Among them, there was the mysterious series titled Rangers of the New Republic. It seemed that at one point, Gina Carano‘s Cara Dune was the front runner to lead the spin-off series. There were even rumors that she would lead alongside Katee Sackhoff‘s Bo-Katan. As many know by now, Lucasfilm has parted ways with the actress. Many wondered what it may imply for the series, especially now that they weren’t recasting. Well, it looks like they may have found their replacement in Star Wars Rebels’ Hera Snydulla.
The story comes from a site called LRM Online, which ran the story earlier today. Shortly after, the Kessel Run Transmissions also highlighted this new direction for the show adding some validity. We still have to take this as a rumor, but the character of Snydulla would be a perfect choice. She is already well-established from the Star Wars Rebels series, and it isn’t the first time they are adapting an animated character into live-action.
The Mandalorian saw a lot of success in carrying over characters from Clone Wars and Rebels. She also has close ties to the early rebellion and was a central figure in the formation of the Alliance that wanted to restore the Republic. She has a close connection to Grand Admiral Thrawn, who might have a role in the upcoming Ahsoka series, so she would also connect to the overarching storyline that is getting set-up.
Lucasfilm’s highly-anticipated prequel spin-off, Obi-Wan Kenobi, has added its first new cast member. According to Deadline, Indira Varma has joined the series in an undisclosed role. The actress is perhaps best known for her work on HBO’s smash hit Game of Thrones, where she portrayed the cunning Ellaria Sand for four years. Details surrounding the Disney+ limited outing have been kept tightly under wraps since its official announcement at 2019’s D23 Expo but it will shed some light on the titular Jedi’s time in exile between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.
Before today, the only known cast members were fan-favorite Ewan McGregor, who was reprising his acclaimed role as Kenobi, and Hayden Christensen, making a surprise return to the franchise. He will return to portray the villainous Darth Vader. While we don’t know who Varma will be playing just yet, her striking facial features and British origins seem to line up nicely with The Clone Wars‘ Duchess Satine. Many fans have speculated that Obi-Wan’s love interest might appear via flashback in his upcoming solo project. Only time will tell if this theory pans out.
Kenobi will begin filming last year, but various script rewrites and a global pandemic have delayed the process on more than one occasion. The series will enter production in the spring, with director Deborah Chow on board to run it. Chow proved her directing chops, and her handle on the Star Wars universe to fans with some stellar work on the first season of The Mandalorian. The time she spent there will surely come in use when Kenobi utilizes the same innovative StageCraft technology to stay safe in these turbulent times and bring the sands of Tatooine to life.
