  • Disney Latino Hints at a New ‘Moon Knight’ Ability in the Disney+ Series

Disney Latino Hints at a New ‘Moon Knight’ Ability in the Disney+ Series

Disney Latino released a page discussing Moon Knight’s origin and abilities in the upcoming Disney+ series. It included a reference to his abilities that change depending on the moon cycle but included a reference to something that might be new to even comic readers. In the article, there’s a reference to the Fist of Khonshu having the ability to have “prophetic visions about future events.”

It’s certainly a curious addition, but there’s a chance that the “visions” are tied directly to his multiple personality disorder. Perhaps the show will use this concept to play with us and Steven, who is unsure about who he truly is. The first trailer teased that his reality is falling apart, especially as he uncovers his actual background as the mercenary Marc Spector.

If he has the ability to see the future, it makes you wonder if they tease his main antagonist and end of the series throughout its runtime. We could even get a post-credit sequence of a vision that hints at where we’ll see Oscar Isaac again after his time on the Disney+ series.

  • Oscar Isaac Confirms ‘Moon Knight’ as a Limited Series

Oscar Isaac Confirms ‘Moon Knight’ as a Limited Series

As Marvel Studios isn’t following the usual TV format, you never know which of their new series may end up getting a sequel season or not. So far, the only confirmed series to get a second season are Loki and What If…? but everything else is pure speculation. It looks like their latest Disney+ series, Moon Knight, might just be a one-and-done, as during Variety’s Actor on Actor

I’d never heard of “Moon Knight” before, and I collected comics when I was younger. I’d heard of “Morbius,” but I’d never heard of “Moon Knight.” I don’t know how the process was for you because it’s a feature film, we’re a limited series. There was a lot of room to try stuff because there wasn’t the pressure that we got to make sure we make however many hundreds of millions of dollars on the opening weekend.

    Oscar Isaac

It makes sense that they might approach Moon Knight as a limited series, especially with how the initial trailer teases it like an analysis of Marc Spector’s psyche. So, a potential Season 2 might fall too much into a typical action storyline that the actor might not be interested in tackling. Of course, we don’t know if his fractured mind would truly come back together by the end of the story.

Marvel Studios also has the freedom to potentially renew it at a later point, as they don’t have to make a direct second season shortly after but explore the character once they figure out a new take on the character. It’s also uncertain how active Oscar Isaac wants to be in an interconnected franchise, but it seems likely he’ll re-appear after the mini-series premieres on Disney+ on March 30th.

  • Gugu Mbatha-Raw Confirms Return for ‘Loki’ Season 2

Gugu Mbatha-Raw Confirms Return for ‘Loki’ Season 2

Production on the second season of Marvel Studios’ Loki series is reported to begin this summer at Pinewood Studios, and it appears one of the first seasons’ biggest stars will be there when it happens. Gugu Mbatha-Raw, the British actress who played TVA judge and series antagonist Ravonna Renslayer, has confirmed that she will indeed be returning for the show’s next batch of episodes. During an interview with Michael Strahan on Good Morning America, Mbatha-Raw was asked about her involvement with the future of the Disney+ exclusive. Her response, accompanied by a huge smile, was short and straightforward:

    I know there is a season two… I know that I’m in it…and that’s about all I can say!

    Gugu Mbatha-Raw

The last time we saw her character, Renslayer was departing the collapsing TVA to search for her own free will. It’s unknown what became of her after this, but the pages of Marvel comic books may give fans an idea of where her character arc is headed. Ravonna famously becomes the love of Jonathan Majors‘ Kang the Conqueror, with their relationship being a major plot point in his villainous storyline. It remains to be seen if the Marvel Cinematic Universe will take Mbatha-Raw‘s portrayal down this path, but her devout belief in He Who Remains seemed to be a good hint at it’s possibility.

Loki was the first Marvel-Disney+ series to get an officially announced second season renewal. There is no set release date for the next installments of the show, but with production supposedly starting soon, fans shouldn’t have to wait much longer for more information.

  • ‘Loki’ Season 2 Eyeing a Summer Production Start

‘Loki’ Season 2 Eyeing a Summer Production Start

There are quite a few Marvel Studios series heading our way on Disney+ this year, but we’ve still haven’t had an update on the first one to receive a second season, Loki. It left us with quite the cliffhanger as we awaited what the future might have in store for the God of Mischief. It looks like we might have our first hint that the Tom Hiddleston-led Disney+ series will start production this year.

In a new piece by Backstage, they hint that production is eyeing a summer start at Pinewood Studio. Back in July, it was confirmed that Kate Herron was not returning to direct the series but there hasn’t been an update on who might’ve taken over since. After she left the project, there was some belief that it may not start production until 2023, but if it is indeed going to start production this year, they may have already found their director.

A summer production start might offer some hope that the series could find its way to Disney+ in 2023. Given that Kang the Conqueror might have a role in the series, they could be trying to connect it to Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, where Jonathan Majors will technically make his first appearance as that specific variant. Here’s hoping we might also get some casting announcements in the coming months that offer a hint at what else we cane expect from Loki’s return to the TVA.

  • Latest ‘Moon Knight’ Promo Art Offers Full Look at Oscar Isaac’s Costume

Latest ‘Moon Knight’ Promo Art Offers Full Look at Oscar Isaac’s Costume

There’s been a lot of hype surrounding the upcoming release of Moon Knight, which may become Disney+’s darkest story yet. Marvel Studios is venturing into new territory and the first trailer certainly sold us on the potential of this new franchise. Plus, the character may have one of their best costume designs yet, which we got a closer look at through a promo image around a week ago. Luckily, it seems a new piece has found its way online with a full look at his entire costume, as shared by @MKnightNews.

The design is still quite impressive, as they utilized a mummy-inspired design with how his costume is made of white bandages. It fits into the Egyptian theme the character has and that was highlighted in the trailer. Plus, it adds some nice detailing to a pure white design, which may have otherwise been quite difficult to adapt in live-action. The moon symbol being golden also adds a nice detailing.

The interesting surprise is how the cape is drawn. Instead of being a full piece of cloth, it’s also made of stitched together wraps, which may add to the fact that the costume isn’t a physical thing he wears but something that magically wraps around him, as seen in the trailers. Of course, it would be an interesting twist if he’s actually wearing his Mr. Knight costume and just imagines the full costume due to his fractured personality disorder.

  • ‘Secret Invasion’ Set Video Shows [SPOILER] Working With Skrull Villain

‘Secret Invasion’ Set Video Shows [SPOILER] Working With Skrull Villain

Filming on Marvel Studios Disney Plus streaming series Secret Invasion continued yesterday in Halifax, UK and, as has been the case, much of what went on was caught on camera. Twitter user @bishopluvbot was on the scene and captured dozens of pictures and videos of yesterday’s scenes, all taking place on the Piece Hall set. Most of the main cast of the series has been on set all week, including Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn and Cobie Smulders, who are back in their respective roles, and newcomers Emilia Clarke and Kingsley Ben-Adir, whose roles are unknown outside of vague descriptions.

The above video captured a major explosion set during a scene being filmed on “National Unity Day” in the interior courtyard of Piece Hall. While it’s no surprise that Ben-Adir’s character, who is playing a Skrull and the main antagonist of the series, was involved in the explosion, another video does include a shocking revelation that may be considered a spoiler.

The second video shows the aftermath of the explosion, with wounded extras leaving the site. A few seconds into the video, Clarke’s character can be seen walking away from the explosion and getting into a car with Ben-Adir’s villainous character. This obviously casts doubts on Clarke’s motivations in the series, as earlier in the week she was seen exchanging a hug with Maria Hill.

Is Clarke a villain as well? Not much is known about her character, but she is known to be an “up and coming spy” who also has powers. Is she working with the Skrulls? Has she been simmed her? Given that the series is meant to be a paranoia-based thriller, it’s likely that fans will often be left wondering who is or is not a Skrull and what side anyone is on at any given moment. Seeing Clarke’s character working with Ben-Adir here is just the tip of the iceberg.

Secret Invasion will stream on Disney Plus sometime before 2075.

  • ‘WandaVision’, ‘Squid Game’, ‘Cobra Kai’ Nominated For Producers Guild Awards

‘WandaVision’, ‘Squid Game’, ‘Cobra Kai’ Nominated For Producers Guild Awards

The nerds continue to rule the Earth, with a litany of their favorite shows gaining more and more awards recognition. A full list of nominees has been released for the upcoming Producers Guild Awards, which are set to be held on March. The list includes multiple fan-favorite projects from the last year, particularly within the realm of episodic television.

For starters, Marvel Studios’ flagship Disney+ series WandaVision received a nomination in the ‘Limited and Anthology’ category, alongside critically acclaimed shows like Dopesick, The Underground Railroad, and The White Lotus.

Surprise worldwide phenomenon Squid Game was nominated for the Danny Thomas Award for Outstanding Producer of Episodic Television, as was fellow underdog Netflix sensation Cobra Kai. They join the likes of HBO’s Succession, AppleTV+’s Ted Lasso, and Paramount’s Yellowstone in contention for the honor. On the film side of things, Denis Villenueve‘s Dune managed to snag a nomination for the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures.

Noticeably missing from the list of nominees is Marvel and Sony’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, which is currently tearing through the box office at record speeds. The film has been campaigning for major recognition during the awards season, and it remains to be seen if it will get any when the Oscars finally come around. Until then, fans of high sci-fi and comic book adaptations can breathe easy knowing Hollywood may finally be giving them the nods they’ve always deserved.

  • Emilia Clarke’s Character Acting Suspicious in Latest ‘Secret Invasion’ Set Video

Emilia Clarke’s Character Acting Suspicious in Latest ‘Secret Invasion’ Set Video

In a series titled Secret Invasion, we suspect a lot of foul play throughout the series. What doesn’t help is that quite a few spies will be involved in the series, which is the perfect recipe to keep people on their toes. A new set video has found its way online featuring Emilia Clarke in the same outfit we saw previously. It also adds a bit more to the scenes we saw featuring her and Cobie Smulders, who is returning as Maria Hill.

The video features Clarke‘s character walking by a building only to return back. It seems reports from the set, as this is part of LeedsLive’s Facebook stream, is that she is looking around nervously and acting suspiciously. Plus, she and Hill seem to know each other, which adds some more confusion to her behavior. Ther’s always a chance she ends up being a Skrull, but she may also just be a former SHIELD spy meeting back up with her.

    https://twitter.com/SInvasionNews/status/1485750118158635017

We have no official word on Clarke‘s character and we might not find out for some time, but it does add to the intrigue of what exactly is going on during these scenes. It’s always fun to see what the scene looks like when we see what the sequence looks like once they release it on Disney+. There are quite a few people waiting outside the barriers, which may be the reason we’ve gotten so many set videos and photos since they started their production.

  • The Appeal of ‘Moon Knight’: Disney+ Finally Matures

The Appeal of ‘Moon Knight’: Disney+ Finally Matures

Not too long ago, we’ve learned that Moon Knight may have become Disney+’s most anticipated entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Not only did it get the most likes of any series, it even managed to become its second-most-watched entry within 24 hours. It’s crazy to think how popular it is if you consider that Moon Knight has mostly been known either from a meme calling Dracula a nerd or many Batman comparisons. There’s a lot more to the character, of course, but there must be something about this series that appeals to viewers with its trailer.

I think its biggest selling point lies in the tonal change from the rest of the MCU. The Disney+ shows have been unique and offer different takes on what it means to be a hero, villain, and more. Yet, there’s something much darker at play with Moon Knight compared to the rest. It may be similar to why Loki and WandaVision were such darlings during their release, as they offered something truly unique. We’ve seen enough superheroes and now Marvel Studios has started to break the mold. And, on top of it all, they provided one of their best trailers that found the perfect mixture of intrigue, action, and character.

Their next Disney+ series feels like a psychological horror film that was combined into Christopher Nolan‘s Memento. The initial trailer offers so much intrigue that forces anyone to question what is real. Comic fans might fully grasp the many personalities of Marc Spector and the existence of Khonshu, but an everyday viewer will have no clue. All they saw, was this strange monster stalking him, and the way the first trailer implies it may just be in his head. It’s an eye-catcher in many ways, as you might question how real is Moon Knight as a hero in this universe.

Oscar Isaac‘s performance of a mentally disturbed man, fighting to figure out what is real or not would probably drag quite a few people into theaters if this wasn’t a Disney+ series. Throw in the possibility of him becoming a hero more in line with Punisher or Daredevil‘s Netflix run, you might reach an audience that has been clamoring for exactly that. The poster with a bloody crescent moon-shaped weapon certainly seems to promise that Marvel Studios isn’t holding back this time around.

Disney+ is a family-oriented streaming program at the end of the day, and there were concerns that it could hold back Marvel Studios’ expansion. If they can make this concept work within the perceived limitations of a Disney-owned streaming service, the future of Marvel’s darker characters, which includes Daredevil, Punisher, Ghost Rider, and more, seems – for a lack of a better term – quite bright. Moon Knight may be the point where Disney+ starts to mature and opens the floodgates to welcome in more stories like it.

  • Murphy’s Team-Up, Volume 15: The ‘Moon Knight’ Trailer

Murphy’s Team-Up, Volume 15: The ‘Moon Knight’ Trailer

    Dalbin Osorio

Loved every second of it. From the shot of Egypt that made me immediately think of the Eternals to the use of one of Marc’s alter-egos to the shot of the criminally underrated Ethan Hawke (he’s who everyone pretends Jared Leto is), it set the tone far more than a teaser should. It gave us our first shot at many intriguing things (was that a Lycan? An Animus?), While also setting the stage for what seems to be a more visceral show than we’ve gotten from the MCU on Disney+. FWS had it’s moments, but this seems to up the violence ante. There’s some concern that Marvel didn’t cast a Jewish actor in the title role and that this means they’re going to retcon that for Isaac’s character, and this trailer did nothing to confirm/deny that. It left me wanting more, especially considering I believe Moon Knight will tie into Blade and some of the other properties coming down the pipe. All in all, mission accomplished.

    Filip Manka

That trailer put me at ease. Despite my huge hype for this show, I still had some concerns in the back of my mind about adapting this character into a live-action feature. However, the trailer is absolutely fantastic for me and I can’t remember the last time I looked forward to a Marvel project this much. The trailer gave me the emotions I was expecting: disorientation, surreal atmosphere, and confusion.

The focus on DID and the character’s psychological problems is gratifying. The beginning of the trailer in terms of execution is very much in the style of directors Moorehead and Benson, enclosing the character in tight frames with a close-up camera. Somewhere in the back, there is the symbolism of the surroundings being reflected in puddles and mirrors, which I also think will at times serve as an interesting means of expression in portraying Marc’s problems.

Another huge plus is that the story will begin from the perspective of Steve Grant, Marc’s alter ego. I like how the subconscious has repressed Marc’s death, which by the way is very consistent with how DID works. The subconscious has separated the trauma and grief to protect the person from themselves. Such a theme gives room for many interesting narrative treatments, and I hope that the further into the woods the story becomes less linear.

I was also very positively surprised by the fact that the series will be mostly based on the series from 1985. Ethan Hawke’s character himself is named Arthur Harrow, who debuted in the comics in 1985, and the hero himself was studying the theory of pain. Here I think that they will combine Harrow with Sun King and I know that Moon Knight’s fans may turn their noses up a bit because the plot with Sun King was poor, but such a synthesis of these two characters may come out on a good note.

I do love this outfit. I’m glad that they didn’t go for any armor, but something mystical and out of the ordinary for the MCU. Once again, I associate it with the 1985 run where the theme of Egypt and mysticism was present, and according to the description, this element will also be important in the series.

    Mary Maerz

I loved it. Take out the last 10 seconds or so, and you wouldn’t even know it was a Marvel or superhero-type series. It definitely came across as more of a psychological thriller with a smattering of horror and a smidge of action. I really like that combination, but it will be interesting to see what that balance actually is in the series, since it’s a solid bet the action (and actual Moon Knight part) will be more prominent. I’m extremely curious how they will handle and explore Marc Spector’s D.I.D., and I hope it doesn’t take 5 episodes to explain it or to reveal Jake Lockely. I definitely felt some elements of the Lemire run with Marc (or Steven) going in and out of perceived realities in really abrupt and harsh ways, and I would love if they played into that consistently throughout the whole series. If Ethan Hawke’s Arthur Harrow is actually who I think he could be, I’m very interested to see how they develop the dynamic between the two in this context. We only really saw Moon Knight going to town punching something in a bathroom for a few seconds, so honestly in my mind the jury is still very much out on the Moon Knight himself. But it’s looking good.

    Nathan Miller

I enjoyed the trailer. I think Marvel Studios got almost exactly the right mix of attraction for a casual audience and for more dedicated fans. The trailer makes it clear we are going to have Steven Grant as a gateway to the character of Moon Knight with some subtleties of the wider Moonie mythos. There is a mystery to unravel for Steven as there is for the audience. All of my friends who watch Marvel Studios TV and films in a late-casual way thought ‘it was unlike any other Marvel thing’ they had seen, and were really excited about it. So in that sense, it’s job done. The only thing I think could maybe have been improved on is the music for this particular trailer, as it didn’t get me as hyped up as other Marvel Studios trailer music has done, but it’s not a deal-breaker by any means in my enjoyment of the trailer. I’m excited for the next trailer and for the show itself!

    Charles Murphy

My thoughts are simple: the most non-Marvel trailer I’ve seen in a while and I love it. The only real piece of info I had on this show was that it would be partially inspired by Christopher Nolan’s Memento: the trailer showed us that is probably the case and that makes for a very interesting dynamic for the audience, especially anyone who doesn’t have a good handle on who Moon Knight is. I love the quasi-Earth X inspired costume. I think this has the makings of an incredibly fun series that will probably have weekly conversation on the level of WandaVision as fans try to piece together the mystery.

    Anthony Canton III

The trailer is interesting in so many ways. First, for the MCU at large this feels like something entirely different than anything we’ve ever seen. For the uninitiated to the character it has to feel trippy as it not only is mysterious, but incredibly psychological. The tone of the trailer is a dark one, bringing us inside the mind of someone who’s clearly lost theirs. Oscar Isaac has a chance to do something special here in playing multiple personalities. Ethan Hawke’s character seems very influential without us knowing exactly who he is. There’s intrigue in all of this, and the Moon Knight suit itself looking so good on screen. Lastly, the brief physicality of seeing Moon Knight hammering a creature of some sort (Anubis perhaps) is exciting as we haven’t seen a fighting style like this one in the MCU. The fans are in for quite the ride with Moon Knight.

    Joseph Aberl

The Moon Knight trailer probably goes down as one of my favorites alongside WandaVision and Loki. There’s something about the atmosphere that makes it stand out, especially with the psychological thriller aspect. Khonshu’s arrival as this horror monster makes me wonder just how they might approach the story, and even the strange accent by Oscar Isaac adds that something is off throughout. I really hope the series completely leans into that aspect and sticks to it throughout its runtime, as us questioning if Moon Knight is real or not could make for a great storyline before he enters the wider MCU.

    Joao Pinto

For me what stood out the most in the Moon Knight trailer was the project’s apparent cinematic-quality. All other Disney+ MCU series have been great in terms of bringing a lot of the Marvel Studios big screen expertise to streaming, but Moon Knight’s footage seems to be on a different level. The series will be the first MCU show not to count on previously established characters within the franchise to help sell the property and therefore it might be going the extra mile in terms of presenting itself as a must-see television event based on looks alone.

The trailer itself hasn’t given out much in terms of plot, but if the feeling of its footage is anything to go by in terms of the overall quality of the series, one of the most enigmatic characters Marvel has decided to bring into the MCU might very well end up with the best-looking show, on par with the movies. Something that Marvel has been promising ever since its streaming strategy was announced, but that seldomly has been delivered.
