  • ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’s Goats Were Originally Pitched for 2011’s ‘Thor’

‘Thor: Love and Thunder’s Goats Were Originally Pitched for 2011’s ‘Thor’

Here’s an interesting reveal by writer Zack Stentz. One of the three writers behind the original 2011 Thor has taken to Twitter to share some thoughts on the new Thor: Love and Thunder trailer. In his tweet, he highlighted that the goats we see in the trailer and across the promotional material were originally pitched as part of the 2011 version of the film. He not only shares about the insanity that Tanngrisnir and Tanngnjostr were pretty much Thor’s travel meal in the original mythology, but also that Kevin Feige and his team were a bit uncertain when they included it in the original pitch.

This reveal says a lot about how much has changed since the Marvel Cinematic Universe just started. Not only did Taika Waititi take the character of Thor in such an outlandish direction that they’re way more open to tackling creative storylines, but the executives also loosened up quite a bit. To be fair, what we also have to keep in mind is that there’s a pre-Captain America: Civil War era where even Feige and his team were supervised by Isaac Perlmutter and his infamous committee.

Once he was able to break free from Perlmutter and fully work with Disney directly. This way Marvel Studios became a separate entity from Marvel TV and Marvel, but also gave him way more freedom. It’s the only reason we actually are seeing more diversity in their projects. Black Widow was a film that only got a release this late in the game due to that era and most projects of Phase 3 were already in some form of production at the time. So, if they continue to see success with wilder ideas, we may also see them continue to try out new things moving forward.

  • ‘Streets of Rage’ Film in Development Based on Script by ‘John Wick’s Derek Kolstad

‘Streets of Rage’ Film in Development Based on Script by ‘John Wick’s Derek Kolstad

After Sonic the Hedgehog 2‘s success at the box office, it looks like there’s going to be a new influx of video game adaptations moving forward. Deadline has just reported that SEGA is already eyeing their next project with an adaptation of Streets of Rage in development. Not just that, but Derek Kolstad, the mastermind behind John Wick and Nobody, has written the script on spec. It’ll bring the Genesis title from 1991 to life, where former police offers take on a crime syndicate. There’s not a lot of plot, to begin with. So, it’ll be an easy template to write a story around.

The fourth entry was released in 2020 on the last generation of consoles with 2.5M copies sold worldwide. So, it’s the perfect time to use the momentum and build a new franchise for SEGA. Sonic the Hedgehog producers dj2 Entertainment and Escape Artists, who worked on the Equalizer franchise, are involved with the project. dj2 has a deal with Amazon to also adapt It Takes Two, which has yet to pick up any pace so far.

Kolstad has been quite busy, as he continues to stockpile one project after another. The next John Wick film is set to release next year in March and also has a heist thriller with Gerard Butler on the horizon titled Just Watch Me. He also recently worked on Disney+’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series. He’s also set to adapt Hellsing for Amazon, which was last reported back in March of 2021. So, he’s definitely got a lot on his plate moving forward.

  • Jason Momoa in Talks for ‘Minecraft’ Movie

Jason Momoa in Talks for ‘Minecraft’ Movie

Video game adaptions are quickly becoming all the rage again, with many studios looking to find the next hot property to turn into a successful franchise. Many have struggled to take off due to the fact that they just were not easy to adapt. One adaptation that’s been in the works for quite some time is one based on Minecraft, the popular open-world sandbox game where the sky is the limit. It seems the old project may have picked up the steam yet again as the film looks to be on the hunt for its star.

Ankler is reporting that Jason Momoa is currently in talks to voice the protagonist in the feature film adaptation. The Aquaman actor will voice the film’s main hero for what the studio is hoping will blossom into a new franchise. This news comes as Warner Bros. is set to lose its lease on the film rights to Minecraft by January if a project does not go into development by then. It seems the director of Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre, Jared Hess, is set to direct the project although it is unknown just who is writing.

Not much is known plotwise for the film as it seems its taken many shapes over the past couple of years. Originally it was reported that the film would follow a female protagonist alongside a group of adventurers who’d set out to defeat the Ender Dragon as he broke free from the End and into the overworld. The film has seen multiple directors like Peter Sollet and even It’s Always Sunny in Philidelphia’s Rob Mcelhenney, with Steve Carrel at one point set to star. For now, that is all we know but we’ll see if Minecraft can truly grow into a franchise.

  • First Look at ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’s Funko Pops

First Look at ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’s Funko Pops

Jurassic World: Dominion isn’t that far off from hitting theaters, and with it, Funko has revealed our first look at some of the new additions to their collection. As to be expected, not only are our human companions getting their own figurines, but a variety of the dinosaurs will also get the focus alongside the veteran T-Rex and the Velociraptor Blue.

It’s also great to see Funko Pops of our favorite Jurassic Park members, who are making their grand return in the upcoming sequel. While Jeff Goldblum did have a minor appearance at the end of The Fallen Kingdom, this is the first time that Sam Neill and Laura Dern are making their return as Dr. Alan Grant and Dr. Ellie Sattler. So, if you ever wished to add them to your collection, now is your chance.

The figurines look great and there’s a fun charm to the various dinosaurs, especially how well the design surprisingly works with the dead eyes. The giant addition is very likely the new Giganotosaurus, which is set to make its live-action debut in the upcoming film. We’ll see if they might have other dinosaurs that’ll surprise us in the upcoming film and get some additional Funko Pops after its release. So, we’ll see what other surprises the film has in store for us.

  • First Look at ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Funko Pops Leak Early

First Look at ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Funko Pops Leak Early

It looks like today is just a Thor: Love and Thunder kind of day. After breaking down what we could from the trailer and getting our hands on the synopsis, it seems like the line of Funko Pops for the upcoming film have also dropped one after another. They have seemingly leaked early through popnewws with our first look at Meek, Thor, Valkyrie, and a great one showcasing Gorr using the inherent abilities of his sword, the All-Black Necrosword.

That’s not all, as we also have one of Thor on an Asgardian Tours boat with his two trusty sheep pulling him along. What stands out is that they are seemingly running on the Rainbow Bridge, which he can create with the help of his mighty axe, Stormbreaker.

The Funko’s look great and are definitely going to be must-haves for collectors that are trying to keep their collection alive with every new entry. Gorr’s stands out the most, as it is our first look that the Necrosword still has its strange ability to use a black substance, in the comics it turns out to be related to the symbiote, but it’s unclear just how the MCU may give us a unique twist on that ability. For now, we’ll have to wait until he makes his first appearance in a future trailer.

  • ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Synopsis Teases Thor’s Quest to Stop Gorr

‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Synopsis Teases Thor’s Quest to Stop Gorr

We’ve been dissecting the Thor: Love and Thunder trailer ever since it dropped, but there’s still a bit more to this reveal. Marvel has shared the trailer on their official website alongside our first full synopsis for the upcoming film. What stands out is that it mostly highlights what was showcased in the trailer but also hints at how exactly Thor will end up crossing paths with Christian Bale‘s Gorr. It seems that his search for peace might face a quick end and hints that what we saw in the trailer might likely be most of the opening.

The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced — a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi), and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who — to Thor’s surprise — inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor.

  • ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Trailer Teases Gorr’s Arrival With a Comic Reference

‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Trailer Teases Gorr’s Arrival With a Comic Reference

After many discussions on what exactly happened to it, the first teaser trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder has arrived. Surprisingly, Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher is noticeably absent in the first teaser. We did get our first look through a toy leak that showed he was quite a departure from the comics, but it seems like they’ll still take some inspiration from the original Thor run that introduced the character.

Comic Book’s @adambarndhardt was the first to notice a great detail that fans of the original comic run might love. For those that don’t know, the beast that has seemingly been slain in the snow is Falligar, The Behemoth and we see his dead body in the comic panel from Thor #3. He was a patron god of the galactic frontier that was found dead as Thor traveled the galaxy. What sets the fear in the God of Thunder is that the beast was able to wrestle black holes and was the champion of the Tournament of Immortals. He even was a friend of his, which might also come to play in the film.

Here’s a good look at the entire panel this scene is inspired by:

His apparent death might also be our first real indicator of the horrors and destruction that Gorr will leave in his wake. He isn’t called the God Butcher for no reason, and it seems that they will stick quite closely to that. The fact we even got a one-to-one adaptation of an iconic comic panel is such a great touch, as it’s hard to beat out the visual of the original and shows director Taika Waititi’s love for the comic series that inspired his upcoming story. It’ll be interesting if future trailers will continue to keep him a secret.

  • Thor Wears His Original Comic Costume in ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Trailer

Thor Wears His Original Comic Costume in ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Trailer

The trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder just keeps on giving, as we’ve already looked for a few iconic elements that we can expect from the upcoming July release. Not only did we see Natalie Portman’s first appearance as Mighty Thor, but even a tease of Russell Crowe’s Zeus, which he teased a long time ago was going to be in the film. After rewatching the trailer one more time, there’s another cute Easter egg hidden in the opening of the trailer.

As we see a young Thor running and aging up in his pursuit, we briefly get a younger version of Thor in a comic-accurate costume. Not only does he have his winged helmet, which he swiftly dropped after briefly wearing it in the first Thor film, he even has the blacktop with the breastplates. He also has his yellow bandages wrapped around his leg going out of his yellow boots. So, it’s pretty close to the original Jack Kirby design.

It’s unclear what exactly is even going on in this opening,a sit seems like he is jogging through a park turning into his older version. We see that a lot of this film will be about Thor trying to figure out what to do with himself, it may be part of an internal journey that he goes through. Who knows if his eventual conflict with Gorr might also force him to reflect on his past. Whatever it may be, it’s great to see the inclusion of such comic costumes.

  • ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Trailer Offers First Look at Zeus and the Olympians

‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Trailer Offers First Look at Zeus and the Olympians

Well, after a long wait the first trailer has finally dropped for Thor: Love and Thunder. While the big takeaway is our first look at Natalie Portman‘s return to the franchise in the form of Mighty Thor, it also gave us one more surprise. In the middle of the trailer, we see someone catch what seems like a metal lightning bolt, only for the trailer to pull out and reveal that what we are seeing is the Greek god Zeus. Not just that, but we even get various teases of the Olympus and the many gods that reside there.

While it’s our first look and may catch many off-guard, Russell Crowe accidentally just revealed who he was playing back in April of 2021 in an interview. So, it’s very likely they are still trying to keep him a secret, but going by his own statements that are likely him in the role of ruling over the Olympians. It’ll be interesting to see if he has any interactions with Thor, as both are thunder-based gods before Gorr arrives.

The overall design of Olympus looks impressive and there are some great touches here. The characters surrounding Thor are wearing traditional Greek clothing that one would expect from the gods, and it seems like they are still stuck in time. In the trailer, we even see a statue of Zeus. So, he might be quite full of himself. Thor and Korg are spotted in the trailer on this planet, if it is one, as well. So, they might arrive to warn them only for Gorr to follow shortly after. Whatever that might be, it might be the only time we see this pantheon on screen.

  • First ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Trailer Finally Drops Alongside First Look at Mighty Thor

First ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Trailer Finally Drops Alongside First Look at Mighty Thor

It seems like a fever dream, but the moment has finally arrived. We got our first look at Thor: Love and Thunder as the first trailer has dropped. It certainly promised a rather different take on not only a Marvel film but especially what we expect from Thor at this point. Director Taika Waititi certainly is leaving his imprint on the franchise once again that is heading in new directions. At the tail end of the trailer, we also finally get our first real look at Jane Foster’s return as Mighty Thor.

We get a brief glimpse of the revived Mjolnir in the middle of a battle and our first full look at her design, which still looks great. Surprising though is that her eyes are being shown, as some of the promotional material was hiding it with lightning effect making us believe the film would do the same. Yet, it looks like that may just be when she activates her powers similar to Thor.

    Image

The framing is a bit curious, but it’s still great that the trailer ends with our first full look at Portman‘s grand return. We also see more of Mjolnir, which has certainly seen better days as it’s put together from the cracked remnants after Hela got her hands on it. For now, we’ll have to wait and see what the future has in store, but we might expect a second trailer once the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel hits theaters next month.
