Vincent D’Onofrio’s work as Wilson Fisk on the Netflix streaming series Daredevil is held in the highest of regards by Marvel fans, with many believing his Kingpin sits firmly within the top tier of modern live-action Marvel villains. Rumors of D’Onofrio’s return to the role have been rampant for months and with Hawkeye, the project at the center of those rumors, set to stream soon, fans are becoming anxious to see if the Emmy-nominated actor will indeed reprise the role in the MCU.
D’Onofrio recently talked with Jake’s Takes and when asked what Marvel hero he’d like to see Fisk go toe-to-toe with should he return to the role, the actor had a reply at the ready saying, “it definitely has to be Spider-Man. One day…I’m hoping. We’ll see if they ask me to do it.” Obviously a well-read man, D’Onofrio continued, “Kingpin lived in a world of Punisher, Daredevil and Spider-Man so that would be the one.” Fisk, of course, debuted in 1967 in issue #50 of The Amazing Spider-Man. Over the years and especially at the hands of Frank Miller, the character evolved from a stereotypical crime lord into the monstrous threat and the archenemy of Daredevil.
It’s those connections to the Daredevil comics, specifically to the character of Maya Lopez/Echo, that have fans on (king)pins and needles as to whether D’Onofrio will return as Fisk in Hawkeye. In the comics, Fisk raised Lopez as his own daughter after killing her father. With the character of Lopez, played by Alaqua Cox, getting her own spinoff series, sentiment is growing that Fisk MUST play a part in her life and that D’Onofrio is the man for the job.
Watch the entire video interview below and watch D’Onofrio reprise the role of Kingpin (hopefully) in Hawkeye, which begins streaming on Disney Plus with a 2-episode premiere on November 24th.
Just recently, we learned that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is entering an extended reshoot schedule. The main reasons were accredited to the pandemic having influenced initial production and they’re trying to make up for it. Reshoots aren’t uncommon anymore for films nowadays, especially from Marvel Studios. Yet, it seems like there might be one more reason behind the move and they are trying to add some additional cameos that weren’t possible due to production overlaps.
GWW’s KC Walsh has shared on Twitter that one of the reasoning the production entered reshoots is to work on a pivotal scene. He highlights that they also are trying to add people that were busy filming a show at the time only later to clarify that it was a production from Marvel Studios in response to another tweet. It opens up quite a few questions, as the implication is that the series was being filmed during the time the Doctor Strange sequel was in production. It’s especially noteworthy that it is specifically for a “pivotal scene” in the film.
Victoria Alonso recently was promoted to President of Physical and Postproduction, Visual Effects, and Animation. She’s been very outspoken on her hopes and passions to continue pushing the envelope on diversity in Hollywood. She was presented with the Visionary Award during the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures’ Outfest Legacy Awards event and gave a passionate speech, especially with the recent critical reception surrounding Eternals and their future commitment to diversity.
We have tried to stir it up and sometimes the critics are not with us. That’s OK. That’s OK. We thank you for being a critic. We thank you for writing about us. And the fans will decide. Diversity and inclusion is not a political game for us. It is 100 percent a responsibility because you don’t get to have the global success that we have given the Walt Disney Company without the support of people around the world of every kind of human there is.
Victoria Alonso
She also went on to highlight their commitment to diversity when it comes to storytelling. Eternals was a big step with the MCU’s first gay and deaf superheroes among the main cast. She goes on to highlight:
I want to do it all. I want to make sure that I get out there and I create as much change as time will allow.”
A listing by the Danish film site Nordisk Film Cinemas now lists “previous version of Spider-Man” in its description of next month’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.
The first part of the synopsis is in line with what’s been seen around the web before; it’s unclear if the Danish theater system is working with official information that might be revealed at this Tuesday’s fan event in Los Angeles or if they’re simply basing the description off of rumors about the film. A second trailer for the film, which is set to go to theaters on December 17th, will debut at the fan event along with promised “big surprises.” It’s possible that among those surprises, Sony could reveal the return of actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as the Spider-Men of their respective universes.
The return of Maguire and Garfield, known as the worst kept secret in Hollywood, is still a topic of debate among fans with some refusing to believe the two actors are back. It is known that villains from both previous Spider-verses will appear with Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock and Jamie Foxx’s Electro having been confirmed by the actors themselves. The film’s first trailer also heavily teased Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin from Sam Raimi’sSpider-Man and seemed to feature a quick shot of the Lizard, played by Rhys Ifans in The Amazing Spider-Man. As you can see, it’s easy to see why one wouldn’t believe the actors who played the Spider-Men in those films would not return. True Believers!
Prior to Disney Plus Day, Disney held their fourth quarter investors’ call. While these things aren’t always worth covering, in this case fans got some tidbits! One such tidbit was that Andor, the 12-episode streaming series that will serve as a prequel to Rogue One, has a release window! According to Disney CFO Christine McCarthy, the series will stream sometime between July and September of next year.
‘Ms. Marvel’ Moves to 2nd Half of 2022
McCarthy also mentioned that Ms. Marvel, a Marvel Studios streaming series set to introduce Kamala Khan to the MCU, will debut during that same window. Originally set to stream in late-2021, Ms. Marvel will now debut a little closer to Secret Invasion and The Marvels, project with that share cast members and maybe even some plot points with the teen drama series. Like many other Marvel Studios streaming series, we got a new look at the series and a synopsis on Disney Plus Day. We got some cool glimpses, including the clan of bad guys destined to give Kamala a hard time.
Ms. Marvel introduces viewers to Kamala, a 16-year old Pakistani American from Jersey City. An aspiring artist, an avid gamer, and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, she is a huge fan of the Avengers — and one in particular, Captain Marvel. But Kamala has always struggled to find her place in the world — that is until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to.
Stallone Returns to Grumble Through More Lines in Vol. 3
Sylvester Stallone was so excited to return to the role of Stakar Ogord for the next installment of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 that he let everyone know in a video from the set of the film. Here’s to hoping he continues to nail his spot-on interpretation of the comic book character that he’s allegedly bringing to the big screen.
‘One Piece’ Pieces Together One Cast
The Netflix adaptation of One Piece has been making more and more news over the past several weeks but none bigger than the cast being accidentally leaked by the Latin America Netflix account. Inaki Godoy, Emily Rudd, Jacob Romero Gibson, Taz Skylar and Mackenyu were revealed to be key players for the series.
‘Moon Knight’ Looks Loony…and That’s Good
As part of Disney Plus Day, Marvel Studios streaming series Moon Knight got a synopsis and a brief teaser. While neither revealed who Ethan Hawke would be playing, the synopsis might just give a little hint.
Moon Knight is a new globetrotting action-adventure series featuring a complex vigilante who suffers from dissociative identity disorder. The multiple identities who live inside him find themselves thrust into a deadly war of the gods against the backdrop of modern and ancient Egypt.
Interestingly, the brief teaser seemed to show off not only the traditional costume, but also the newer Mr. Knight version as well. We’ll see how they split time on screen when it debuts next year.
‘She-Hulk’, Brought to You by Dan Slott
Tatiana Maslany, who vehemently denied that she was in She-Hulk, briefly appeared in the first look at Marvel Studios streaming series She-Hulk as…She-Hulk. The series, like MoonKnight, got a completely uninformative new synopsis. And, as the title says, it looks to be HEAVILY inspired by Dan Slott’s run.
She-Hulk follows Jennifer, a lawyer who specializes in superhuman-oriented legal cases. She-Hulk will welcome a host of Marvel characters to the series, including the Hulk, played by Mark Ruffalo, and the Abomination, played by Tim Roth.
An Animation Renaissance is Underway at Marvel Studios
In probably the most exciting of all of the Disney Plus Day announcements, fans learned that Marvel Studio has not 1, not 2, but 3 new animated series in the works for the streaming service.X-Men ’97 will reunite the cast of characters of the beloved 90’s X-Men: The Animated Series on a new mission;Marvel Zombies will bring the undead, first seen in What If…?, into their own series; Spider-Man: Freshman Year, will tell a canonical tale about Peter Parker “on his way to becoming Spider-Man.” Additionally, the studio pretended that they hadn’t already told us about the second season of What If…? and gave us an “official” announcement. A lot of the people who currently dish out a lot of money to Marvel Studios projects grew up on animated projects, so it is absolutely fascinating to see them embrace that generation with the X-Men revival, try to capture the hearts of a generation with Freshman Year and eat the hearts of others with Zombies.
Marvel Studios Pretended They Didn’t Give the Trades Info and “Officially” Revealed Two “New” Series
In the least surprising announcements of the week, Marvel Studios REVEALED that spinoff series for Agatha Harkness and Echo were headed to Disney Plus. Of course, we’ve all known this for a while now but, to make up for that, we got some cool logos that won’t be the logos we see when the shows actually hit D+. Echo and Agatha: House of Harkness are “coming soon” to Disney Plus. Despite the heavy sarcasm, both shows have the potential to explore fascinating corners of the MCU and introduce some great new characters.
‘Prey’, The Next Installment of the Predator Franchise, Will Debut on Hulu
Dan Trachtenberg’sPredator movie has been retitled Prey and slotted for a 2022 streaming debut on Hulu. The moves were announced as part of Disney Plus Day because, yeah, Disney owns the rights to Predator now! The new film’s premise sounds incredible as it focuses on a Predator going up against a Comanche Nation teen around 300 years ago.
Doctor Strange is among Marvel Studios’ best films, not only introducing mainstream audiences to Stephen Strange but also for unlocking the magical side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film would eventually score a sequel with director Scott Derrickson and star Benedict Cumberbatch set to return in their respective roles. Sadly, just a few months after announcing Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness at SDCC, he left the project over “creative differences.”
Just a few weeks later it was announced that Sam Raimi would be returning to the Marvel Universe to direct the sequel who is, of course, best known for his Spider-Man films as well as the Evil Dead franchise. Scott Derrickson is one of those directors who are very hands-on when it comes to fan interactions, especially on Twitter, and recently entertained a request from a fan to return to the MCU for another film. Of course, he played coy responding with a simple response:
No one would be opposed to a return for the director, especially after his work on Doctor Strange but for now, it’s all just hypotheticals. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be undergoing “extensive reshoots” soon due to the pandemic affecting its production, but it currently is eyeing a release in May. It’ll be interesting to see if the director might return for an eventual third entry or even to tackle a brand new franchise.
In an interview with Total Film, she had openly denied being involved with the film. She also highlighted that she doesn’t actively watch superhero movies, including the latest renditions from Marvel Studios and Sony. So, she didn’t seem to show any active interest in these projects. Yet, in a new interview with Variety, she suddenly changed her tune and seemed open to reprising the role of MJ in a Spider-Man project during a screening at AFI Fest.
I would do it. Why not? That would be fun. I would never say no to something like that. I’d be old MJ at this point with little Spidey babies.
Why would this be a curious way to discuss the film? Well, Andrew Garfield did something similar some time ago. At first, he outright denied his involvement with the project only to suddenly leave the door open about potentially returning to the franchise. So, as they continue to get asked about the film, they tend to backtrack from their definite denial.
There have been many discussions and wars fought over when the next trailer would release for Spider-Man: No Way Home. It was already quite the discussion when it seemed like the initial one was getting postponed with each reference. Finally, after a long wait, we got a more definite release date as @BrandonDavisBD has shared that there’s a Spider-Man fan event next Tuesday, November 16th. It’ll be a trailer launch event so that fans can finally check out what is heading our way in December. There’s no definite release timing included.
Spider-Man fan event! 🚨
We have 40 tickets to giveaway to see the No Way Home trailer premiere on Tuesday, November 16 in LA! First come, first serve!

It’s been a long time coming, but it’s exciting to finally have a confirmed release date. They also avoided keeping it a secret and just randomly dropping it but rather being upfront about it. Of course, filling a theater for fans is a nice move but also a risky one considering the current situation with the pandemic. They do highlight COVID-19 safety registrations and there might be some surprises for those that manage to get in. Here’s hoping that the wait for the trailer online won’t take too long.
Eternals‘ box office has been a highly debated discussion due to the film’s mixed critical reception. While it was behind expectations, it still managed to nab the fourth-highest domestic opening of 2021 with $71M. Of course, the first weekend is where any film builds its momentum and the question is how strong it can keep that top spot in the coming weeks. Well, it looks like the Friday numbers are in and the film faced a drop similar to Venom: Let There Be Carnage. The drop is around 75% that is a far cry from Shang-Chi‘s 67%. Still, it’ll very likely pass the $100M mark once the weekend is over.
#Eternals remains #1 FRI with $7.8M falling a big 75% from opening day FRI. That's higher than #ShangChi's 67% and in line with #Venom2's 76%. Breaks $100M domestic today. 2nd wknd #boxoffice may be headed to about $28M.
Eternals will take the top spot again in its second weekend, which is still a strong showing. What should be highlighted is that this film might not have strong legs as other projects, its international numbers may be giving it an additional boost. The numbers are also developing similarly to how July was right as the pandemic was only starting to slow down. The box office generally has a few milestones for various franchises, such as Dune also passing the $100M mark and the Venom sequel getting to $200M.
▶️ Today #Eternals breaks $100M. ▶️ Today #Venom2 crosses $200M. ▶️ Tomorrow #NoTimeToDie passes $150M. ▶️ And look for #Dune to hit $100M before Thanksgiving.
Clifford theBig Red Dog will take the second spot but won’t give the latest Marvel Studios film much competition. It’s also been facing harsher critical reception but is doing better with audiences as a fun film for families to check out. So, it might be a quieter week but it’s very likely that Eternals will be dethroned once Ghostbusters: Afterlife releases next week.
In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, we met Sylvester Stallone’s Stakar Ogord. He’s a loose adaptation of the comic character Starhawk, who originally was from the 31st century and a member of the original Guardians of the Galaxy. In the MCU, he’s one of the leaders of the Ravagers and the one who exiled Yondu for his actions working for Ego. They did give him a heartfelt farewell tribute at the end of the film, but it left us with the question of whether they might make a return.
Luckily, we got our first rumor of his return back in July which might build upon the brief post-credits sequence of the older generation of Ravagers working together once again. It’s unclear what role he might have in James Gunn’s third and possibly final entry of the franchise, but it’s great to get a confirmation that he’s indeed in the film.
It’s interesting that they are filming all his expressions to duplicate. In a way, it seems that it’s part of the routine at this point but they might also be considering aging the actor down for flashback sequences. They seemed to hint at the long history the Ravagers shared and might want to explore that in the final entry. Yondu getting a short cameo in a flashback would make for an interesting way to bring Michael Rooker back for a final entry of the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy directed by James Gunn. Plus, they might hint at the franchise’s future as well.
