  • Jeffrey Wright Confirms Talks to Return as Commissioner Gordon in ‘The Batman’s GCPD Spinoff

Jeffrey Wright Confirms Talks to Return as Commissioner Gordon in ‘The Batman’s GCPD Spinoff

Before we even got our first look at The Batman, the studio showed immeasurable faith in Matt Reeves‘ project and already signed off on a GCPD focused spin-off. What the series might entail is still under wraps, as many thought the series could be adapting Ed Brubaker and Greg Rucka’s Gotham Central storyline. The story is reportedly set in Bruce Wayne’s first year as the Caped Crusader. It seems like things could finally be kicking into action with Commissioner Gordon himself, Jeffrey Wright, teasing his involvement.

The press tour for The Batman has begun with only a week to go until it finally hits theaters. Naturally, the cast is making the rounds promoting the film and their roles in it. In an interview with RadioTimes, Wright dished that there may already be talk in progress for him to mustache up once again for an appearance in the GCPD spin-off.

“Well, yeah, there’s been a little talk about that”

    Jeffrey Wright

Wright followed up that comment showing his eagerness to explore this new Gotham City, and thinks it could be really exciting.

“I do think that the film is going to leave fans longing for more. So if there’s an opportunity to explore more of this specific Gotham in a granular way through a show like that, it’d be very exciting.”

    Jeffrey Wright

Hopefully, following the release of the film, we will get more details on the series and make things a bit more clear. This is one of two spin-offs already in development at HBO Max, with a Penguin series featuring Colin Farrel returning to the role. We’ve ironically heard more bout this project than the GCPD-focused one over the years even though it’s been in production quite a bit longer. Matt Reeves seems to be building something quite special here.

  • New ‘Batwoman’ Set Photo Offers Full Look at Arrowverse’s Joker

New ‘Batwoman’ Set Photo Offers Full Look at Arrowverse’s Joker

The young actor Kendrick Jackson has shared some behind-the-scenes photos from Batwoman to celebrate his return to the role of Marquis Jet. The first photo to catch everyone’s attention is the inclusion of what is seemingly our first full look at the Arrowverse series’ version of the Joker, who was only hinted at in the series. The photo offers a full look at the actor Nathan Dashwood in his costume as the iconic Clown Prince of Crime, which showcases just how comic-accurate their version was.

For those that haven’t seen the latest episodes yet, there’s an ongoing trend of familiar villains making their return due to the various trophies that Batman collected over the years are leading to a new generation of villains. In the post-Crisis timeline, the Joker was killed by Batman with the new Batwoman’s brother, Marquis Jet, inheriting the role.

The above reveals hints that we’ll revisit the original version before his death at some point in the story. Jet becoming the new CEO of Wayne Enterprises will definitely lead to quite the conflict and redefine what makes a Joker in the CW series. Batwoman has been trying to take the characters we grew up with and add a twist to them, which this “Inheritance” plotline has certainly enabled. We’ll see if they have way more plans for the future.

  • ‘Avengers: Endgame’s Joe Russo Warns on Overdoing the Multiverse Storyline

‘Avengers: Endgame’s Joe Russo Warns on Overdoing the Multiverse Storyline

The multiverse has arrived last year in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Loki kicked off events that would eventually set the stage for Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. We don’t know how big the plans are for the concept, but even DC is jumping in on the trend with The Flash set to potentially even rewrite the history of the DC Extended Universe. Avengers: Endgame‘s director, Joe Russo, was asked about his thoughts in regards to how much more we can expect it moving forward. He had a simple approach by stating that “too much of one thing is a bad thing.” His full quote is as follows:

So yeah, too much of one thing is a bad thing, but I think there are enough creators and innovators in the space where you can expect to be surprised. Just don’t expect corporations to surprise you.

    Joe Russo

He’s definitely right that too much won’t be good for the film’s long-term. There’s always a chance that it gets too convoluted or difficult to figure out how everything connects. Plus, it’ll bloat the market if all these films provide are cameos of familiar faces just because they could. It does seem like the MCU version of the multiverse might come to an end once the story teased with He Who Remains hits its boiling point. Who knows if an adaptation of Secret wars might be the project that brings it all together once again.

  • Kathryn Hahn Offers Update on Her ‘WandaVision’ Spinoff ‘Agatha: House of Harkness’

Kathryn Hahn Offers Update on Her ‘WandaVision’ Spinoff ‘Agatha: House of Harkness’

WandaVision introduced the world to Kathryn Hahn‘s memorable performance as Agatha Harkness. “Agatha All Along” became one of the catchiest songs of the year, and it seems that Marvel Studios wasn’t ready to have such talent and not use her for years to come. During Disney+ Day, they finally confirmed that she’ll get her own spinoff titled Agatha: House of Harkness. We know very little about the project when it takes place in the ever-expanding MCU timeline, and if it might follow up the storylines set up in the finale of their first-ever Disney+ series. Luckily, it seems the actress behind the project may have already gotten some glimpses.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actress discussed her current career and was asked about the upcoming Marvel Studios series. She didn’t reveal any details sadly, but did say that it is “exactly what I would have hoped and dreamt.” So, they might’ve already started work on the scripts and put together some visuals to showcase where the project is heading. Hopefully, we might find out sooner rather than later when we might expect it to find its way to the streamer.

It would seem like the story will explore her family history that was briefly touched upon in a flashback. Her unleashing the Scarlet Witch won’t make her popular with other witches but finally gets a chance to explore the magic history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe from the perspective of witch culture. Perhaps we get to visit Salem and could even see the return of Ralph Boner. There was also the demon rabbit that ended up getting scrapped from the finale. There are so many possibilities, it’s going to be interesting to see how this series innovates.

The Disney+ Sequel Series to ‘The Santa Clause’ Gets a Title

Disney+ looks to be moving full speed ahead on its sequel series to The Santa Clause.

A new report from the DisInsider reveals that the forthcoming series will be titled The Clauses. The sequel series to the hit film trilogy was first announced on January 14th and has steadily been building its cast since then. As it stands, both Tim Allen and Elizabeth Mitchell are reprising their roles as Scott Calvin, aka Santa, and Carol, aka Mrs. Claus.

The synopsis for The Clauses is as follows:

Scott Calvin is on the brink of his 65th birthday and realizing that he can’t be Santa forever. He’s starting to lose a step in his Santa duties, and more importantly, he’s got a family who could benefit from a life in the normal world, especially his two kids who have grown up at the Pole. With a lot of elves, children, and family to please, Scott sets out to find a suitable replacement Santa while preparing his family for a new adventure in a life south of the pole.

The revival series is being showrun by Last Man Standing creator Jack Burditt. He will executive produce the series along with Allen, Kevin HenchRichard Baker and Rick Messina. A release date for The Clauses has yet to be announced.

  • RUMOR: Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’, ‘Luke Cage’ and More Will Remain Unedited on Disney+, Even in the US

RUMOR: Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’, ‘Luke Cage’ and More Will Remain Unedited on Disney+, Even in the US

Netflix’s Marvel series, which includes Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and more, are only a few days away from leaving the streaming platform to find a new home. Just earlier today, we’ve learned that the new home would end up being Disney+ after all. What has any confusion is that the announcement is purely through Canada, which offers the Star branding for mature content. Well, a new report by That Hashtag Show hints that there’s a chance that not only will they also release in the US version but also unedited.

Disney has made some bizarre choices by editing and censoring some of its films. Yet, it seems that they might luckily leave these projects untouched, something even the showrunner of Luke Cage, Cheo Hodari Coker, feared in a recent Twitter thread discussing the history of the project before it leaves Netflix. The US version will release around the same time as the announced March 16th date. So, violence and language will remain the same.

The way Disney+ will handle these more mature projects is through the new Parental Guidance content warning. It may also open up the path for other projects like Deadpool or Logan finding their way to the regular Disney+. There is currently no word if we should expect these projects to retain their “Marvel” logo and end up alongside other Marvel TV projects, or with the recent appearances of Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline. We’ll have to wait a few more weeks until we find out.

  • BREAKING: Netflix’s Marvel Show Heading to Disney+ in March

BREAKING: Netflix’s Marvel Show Heading to Disney+ in March

We’ve been waiting for any sign of what the future has in store for Netflix’s Marvel series. Without a warning, Netflix suddenly included the information that the shows like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and more will leave the service by the end of February. Well, it seems we finally got an update, as an e-mail is making the rounds, as shared by @shayhbaz, where it’s revealed that the shows are heading to Disney+ on March 16th.

It’s quite the surprising reveal without much fanfare given how iconic these franchises are. So far, the e-mail has only been sent to Canadian outlets, which could open up the possibility of them landing on Diseny+ through the Star branding, which is currently absent in the United States. At this point, no official word has come down from Disney about their U.S. plans. Still, it would make sense that they’d find their permanent home on the Marvel-filled library of the streamer. Hopefully, they won’t start censoring elements of these stories to fit the branding image, but with Moon Knight on the horizon, they may consider finally aging up their main demographic moving forward.

After Hawkeye left us with some holiday cheer. we’re going to enter what may be the company’s darkest story so far. Moon Knight explores the story of Steven Grant, who comes to realize he might have a dark secret that not even he is aware of. We’ve known for some time that Jeremy Slater was taking on the role of showrunner, but a new listing on the Writers Guild of America West has revealed the writer team and what episodes they are tackling.

  • First Look at A24’s ‘Hazbin Hotel’ Animated Series Released

First Look at A24’s ‘Hazbin Hotel’ Animated Series Released

Vivienne Medrano, who some might know better as VivziePop, has been hard at work on her various animated series. She’s been independently working with a team to bring the series titled Helluva Boss to life on YouTube, which has been welcomed with open arms by fans. That is not all, as some time ago, the famous indie production studio A24 also picked up her other pilot project, Hazbin Hotel, as a direct series. The story focuses on Charlie Morningstar, the princess of hell – yes, that hell – as she tries to reform people through her hotel. The long-dormant Twitter account started sharing some pictures from the series, such as our first look at Charlie’s new design for the series.

That’s not all, as a small teaser of the titular hotel has also been shared, which includes some familiar visuals such as the blimp that was featured heavily in the pilot episode. We’ll see if the various additions to the hotel might tease the many tenants of the hotel and the wacky adventures that might result from it.

The “On Air” sign definitely teases the return of Alastor, the Radio Demon. It’s unclear if they might change some aspects from the pilot, which isn’t uncommon for these adaptations. There’s a good chance most of the cast will return, but we might pick up where the pilot left off and just jump straight into the daily life of the hotel. With the “coming soon” tease, we hopefully won’t have to wait long for our first look at the series.

  • Ian McDiarmid Teases Potential Return of Emperor Palpatine in ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’

Ian McDiarmid Teases Potential Return of Emperor Palpatine in ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’

Now that The Book of Boba Fett came to an end, all eyes are already on Obi-Wan Kenobi to continue the momentum and offer us more from the Star Wars universe. We already know that Ewan McGregor‘s Obi-Wan will once again face off against Darth Vader with Hayden Christensen taking on the role again. The best part is he’s even set to return in Ahsoka. Yet, it looks like he’s not the only veteran who could be making a return in the upcoming film.

Reddit’s master sleuth u/drewton found a Weekend Extra article from last September, where Hugh Montgomery got a chance to interview the former Emperor Palpatine, Ian McDiarmid. In it, he seemingly teased that there might be a chance that he could also make a return in some capacity. He calls out Obi-Wan Kenobi explicitly to hint at a potential return in the iconic role, while also taking a jab at his encounter with Rey.

I think I have to accept that, thanks to my ungrateful granddaughter, my annihilation was finally final. [But] Of course, [Darth] Vader is back in the new [Obi-Wan Kenobi] television series, so I suppose it’s not impossible that one day his mentor might be discovered once again skulking in the shadows

    Ian McDiarmid

As the story takes place before A New Hope, it would make sense for the Emperor to make his return. We haven’t gotten a chance to explore his role after taking over and if Vader is just around the corner, he’s probably not too far off. If he makes a return, they hopefully focus on his relationship with Vader, who just recently became the machine he is today. Plus, we may get to explore the inner turmoil he may have to do the bidding of the man that pushed him to the dark side.
