Murphy's Multiverse -

What to Expect from the Future of The MCU and When to Expect It

July 9, 2021: SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS

MARVEL - SHANG-CHI

Marvel Studios first Asian hero will kung-fu his way into the MCU on May 7, 2021 in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Charismatic newcomer Simu Liu is set to portray Shang-Chi and the film will explore the characters origins and ties to the TRUE Mandarin, played by Hong Kong legend Tony Leung. Shot in several beautiful and exotic locations, it’s possible that the film could take some surprising turns into the Cosmic and mystical side of things (could we actually see Fin Fang Foom?) but is certain to provide some of the MCU’s best fight scenes to date at director Destin Daniel Cretton has brought in legendary cinematographer Bill Pope (The Matrix) to work on the film. If the two can find a way to combine the pulpy fell of the the 70’s comics with the intense action of The Matrix, we could be in for something special.

On September 23, 2020, with audiences still shying away from theaters, the movie’s release date was shifted once again and is now scheduled to be released in the United States on July 9, 2021
