  • Dwayne Johnson Reveals DC’s ‘League of Super-Pets’ Cast

Dwayne Johnson Reveals DC’s ‘League of Super-Pets’ Cast

All the way back in 1962, Action Comics #293 introduced the League of Super-Pets. The lineup included Krypto the Super dog, Streaky the Super Cat, Beppo the Super Monkey, and Come the Super Horse. They didn’t last long as they were erased from the mainstream continuity in 1986. The team would go dormant in comics for some time, with characters briefly appearing in Krypto The Superdog animated series. Yet, they did not return to comics until 2017’s DC Rebirth. Now with an animated feature film in the works, it seems the team is ready for a comeback with Dwayne Johnson revealing the cast for the upcoming project.

Johnson took to Twitter to confirm a star-studded cast for the upcoming animated film in which he stars as Krypto the Superdog.  He confirmed that his long-time partner in crime, Kevin Hart, will voice Ace the Bathound. They will be joined by a star-studded cast, which includes Kate Mckinnon, John Krasinski, Diego Luna, Vannessa Byer, Natasha Lyonne, and Keanu Reeves. Their roles remain under wraps, but it would be pretty funny to see Krasinski voice Flexi the Plastic Bird for obvious reasons.

DC’s Legion of Super-Pets is currently set to release on May 20th, 2022, and will be written and directed by Jared Sturn alongside Sam Levine. The film is set to be produced by Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions with Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia. We also don’t know if any of the other DC heroes will appear alongside the super pets, or the focus remains purely on them. Hopefully, we’ll get more teases in the coming months to build up to next year’s release.

  • Michael Waldron Talks About the Jump From Writing ‘Rick and Morty’ To ‘Loki’

Michael Waldron Talks About the Jump From Writing ‘Rick and Morty’ To ‘Loki’

For the past few years, Rick and Morty has become popular through its outlandish nature. The series is most known for its unique approach to comedy and going against the grain. Michael Waldron, the head writer of Loki, is best known for his work on Rick and Morty. As such, he had the perfect background to work on a show that explores the effects of time travel and the multiverse. In the show’s press junket, he explained the difficulties of adjusting from the comedy to a more drama-focused live-action series.

I was coming off of Rick and Morty. I think, out of the gate I was trying to step on the gas of the comedy perhaps too much and I had to recalibrate and shift this thing to a more dramatic place.

Following that, Waldron explained what he loved about the character and how he found his groove while writing Loki.

And thats the great thing about this character, you dont have to write jokes. Loki is going to make regular exchanges funny, fun and engaging just with the way he interacts. So, that was how we approache it. We just trusted Tom to do all the work.

Waldron‘s work on Rick and Morty must’ve definitely helped. Rick and Loki are two characters who are different yet similar in the way they act and their attitudes toward those closest to them. The characters both exude dry wit and a god complex, holding themselves above everyone else and constantly getting themselves into trouble. Loki is surely going to bring back that classic nature we see in the character’s early days and will surely please many fans of the character.

  • Marvel Studios’ ‘Loki’ Was Almost a Marvel One-Shot Short Film at One Point

Marvel Studios’ ‘Loki’ Was Almost a Marvel One-Shot Short Film at One Point

Marvel Studios has entered a brand new territory with their Disney+ shows. The Marvel Cinematic Universe was already constantly changing but this service opened up new doors and allowed them to explore beloved characters in new ways. So far, we’ve seen Wandavison and Falcon and The Winter Soldier show us a new side to heroes we watched on screen for years. Now, with the premiere of Loki approaching, fans might be interested to know that the trickster had a spin-off planned early on in his time in the MCU. With the recent strides in storytelling, it seems Marvel Studios always played around with the idea of exploring the trickster in a different timeline.

In a press junket for Loki, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige revealed that the studio danced around the idea of developing a short film for the character. He even references the former disco nightclub Studio 54 that went on to become a Broadway theatre.

There were ideas, as Tom will remember, for a short film going back almost a decade for Loki in the 70s. Like running a Studio 54 in the 70s. I think we had some concept art of him on a horse.

The project didn’t get much further than that. It wasn’t until director Kate Heron and head writer Michael Waldron joined the project that it had become “Infinitely more interesting” according to Feige through their ideas on how to spin the project. Marvel did explore the concept of short films with their Marvel One-Shots. These were included in their blu-ray releases that offered smaller stories in the MCU. It included the Agent Coulson-focused stories The Consultant and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor’s Hammer. Of course, the big standout was Ben Kingsley‘s return as Trevor Slattery in All Hail the King. It’s crazy to think how far the franchise has come now that we have high-budget series doing what these One-Shots originally were meant to do.

  • Christina Ricci Secretly Added to Lana Wachowski’s ‘Matrix 4’

Christina Ricci Secretly Added to Lana Wachowski’s ‘Matrix 4’

By the time the fourth film in the Matrix franchise releases it’ll have been almost eighteen years since the original trilogy ended. Many were ecstatic to hear that Lana Wachowski would be returning to helm the next film alongside the return of multiple main cast members from the original films. The list includes Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Daniel Bernhardt, and Jada Pinkett Smith. Plot details for the upcoming film remain under wraps with the only clue to the premise of the film being a leak from a wrap gift. It revealed that the film’s title is Matrix: Resurrections. With the film in the can, it seems there’s one rather late addition to its outstanding cast.

In a new report from Collider, it is being reported that actress Christina Ricci has joined the cast of the upcoming film with details on her character currently unknown. It seems it was a well-hidden secret and recently was added into the recent press kit. She is best known for her work in the Addams Family films in which she played Wednesday Addams, and even once worked with the Wachowskis on the 2008 live-action adaption of Speed Racer.

The upcoming Matrix film is currently set to be released on December 16, 2021, and will be the first film in the franchise not co-directed by both Wachowski sisters, With Lilly Wachowski only serving as producer on the project alongside Lana due to prior commitments.  Joining the returning cast members is a slew of high-profile talent with the likes of Jessica Henwick, Yahya Abdul Mateen II, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra, Jonathan Groff, and Max Riemelt.

  • FX’s ‘American Horror Story: Double Feature’ Set to Premiere in August

FX’s ‘American Horror Story: Double Feature’ Set to Premiere in August

The last time we visited the world of American Horror Story, we found ourselves transported back to the 1980s. We got a new take on the slasher genre that flipped many notable tropes on their head in a throwback of a season. Since then, the series has been on a bit of hiatus due to the ongoing pandemic that caused filming to be drastically delayed. With this delay, the show decided it was time to try something new with the upcoming theme. “Double Feature” will revolve around two separate and shorter storylines that take place in one season. We’ve yet to learn just what these stories will entail, but we won’t have to wait too much longer to figure that out.

Just a day after series creator Ryan Murphy confirmed a July release for the upcoming AHS Spin-off, FX has confirmed that the upcoming tenth season of American Horror Story will premiere on Wednesday, August 25th. One season will focus on the sea and the other will be by the sand. Set photos have teased a quaint seaside town for the first story but have not given much away as to what’s going on. The reveal for the release date came from FX’s official Twitter channel.

The second storyline is a bit more of a mystery right now. The first tease led many fans to speculate that it could have something to do with Aliens, one of the show’s most interesting loose ends following Asylums’ confirmation of their existence. The whole idea of it being set around “sand” has people believing it could even take place in a desert. There is a noticeable one near Area 51. While nothing has been confirmed, time will tell just what Murphy has in store for us this time around.

  • Ryan Murphy Teases a July Premiere for the ‘American Horror Story’ Spin-Off

Ryan Murphy Teases a July Premiere for the ‘American Horror Story’ Spin-Off

For months now we’ve seen set pictures from the production of the upcoming American Horror Story spinoff. Some confirmed a return to similar locations and others teased a new setting with new characters. The basis of the show is similar to its original. However, this anthology series will kick it into high gear, as each episode is its own self-contained story set within the show’s universe. It’ll tell the stories of new and familiar faces. The main series is still filming the second half of its season, the spin-off seems to be wrapping up quite nicely, as the show is set to premier much sooner than we thought.

In a new Instagram post by series creator, Ryan Murphy, alongside the confirmation of multiple stars from the upcoming season which we’ve previously reported on, he confirmed a release window for the series. The series will indeed premiere in July. Of course, he didn’t give a specific date, but, surprisingly, the series will be releasing just next month. What remains unknown about the series is who’ll fill out the rest of the cast, as only a handful as only a few have been officially confirmed.

  • RUMOR: Sacha Baron Cohen In Talks to Join ‘Red Sonja’ Reboot

RUMOR: Sacha Baron Cohen In Talks to Join ‘Red Sonja’ Reboot

Development on the upcoming Red Sonja reboot has been moving along quite steadily with the recent addition of Antman and The Wasp’s Hannah John-Kamen as the titular warrior, Red Sonja. Plot details for the project have remained under wraps. Gail Simone recently confirmed her involvement in the project, hinting that the film could be taking inspiration from one of her runs on the character. While we wait for more details on the project, new rumors surrounding casting for the upcoming film could hint at some connections that are sure to make Conan the Barbarian fans, and Marvel fans happy.

The Illuminerdi is reporting that Sacha Baron Cohen has been offered the co-lead role in the upcoming reboot as the evil sorcerer Kulan Goth. Long-time Marvel fans might recognize the character. Conan the Barbarian and its characters once called Marvel home before moving to other companies. Kulan Goth first appeared in Conan The Barbarian #14 and was a sorcerer during the Hyborian era. He married the witch Vammatar in hopes to obtain the powers of Shuma Gorath, a multiversal villain within the Marvel Universe. Kulan and Vammatar were eventually destroyed by the god-like entity while attempting to control him.

It’s interesting to see this character chosen as the main antagonist especially as he holds such strong ties to the Marvel universe. Goth has gone up against the Avengers and the X-Men in his Marvel comic run. The origins of the character may be rewritten and tie directly into Sonja’s, with him even possibly being responsible for her family’s death and the pillaging of her home. It’ll be interesting to see how they tackle this iconic character.

  • Netflix Announces ‘Supercrooks’ Live-Action Series as ‘Jupiter’s Legacy’s Future Becomes Uncertain

Netflix Announces ‘Supercrooks’ Live-Action Series as ‘Jupiter’s Legacy’s Future Becomes Uncertain

Superheroes are all the rage these days and every studio is trying to get their hands on the next hot property. Netflix believed they’d struck gold when they acquired the rights to Jupiter’s Legacy, a comic written by Mark Millar. While the show surely had a lot of steam behind it, it got a lukewarm reception. The story tried to explore different timelines by jumping back and forth with one storyline and the characters didn’t seem to jell with audiences.

It looks like Netflix isn’t eager to continue the Union of Justice story just yet, as the network has announced it will be allowing its stars to opt out of their contractual obligations. However, Netflix will continue its future adaptions of Millarworlds’ most popular titles. They have already been working on an animated adaption of Supercrooks and it seems they even greenlit a live-action adaptation. No voice cast has been announced for the animated series and it’s unknown if the latest announced version will spin off from Jupiter’s Legacy. Millar did take to Twitter to offer some insight into the future of this franchise:

They seem hopeful that we could see the Union return one day. I believe it would a great idea to play into the strongest aspect of season one, the past. The most interesting parts of the show were when we saw the Union journey onto the mysterious island and gain their abilities. If they do end up exploring a second season, we could get a closer look at their journey and why Skyfox ended up betraying the group.

  • Santa Monica Studio’s Confirms ‘God of War’ Sequel Delayed into 2022

Santa Monica Studio’s Confirms ‘God of War’ Sequel Delayed into 2022

The God of War franchise got a new jolt of life in 2018 with the return of Kratos in foreign lands. It took place 70 years after God of War III. Instead of returning to its roots in Greek mythology, the latest entry immersed itself in Norse mythology. There he met his wife Faye and had a son named Atreus. What follows is a story between a father and son, as they set off through the realms after the tragic passing of his beloved wife. Her dying wish was for her ashes to be spread from the highest peak, with the two growing closer and closer as the story progresses.

The game was met with critical acclaim. Of course when a sequel got announced, many were immediately excited beyond belief after Santa Monica Studios the iconic word of Ragnarok with an unspecified 2021 release date. Sadly, it looks like the next entry in the franchise will get delayed into 2022 as revealed by the studio in a tweet.

The head of Playstation Studios, Herman Hulst, also openly discussed that they want Santa Monica to have enough time to make the game be the best it can be.

So we have, currently, two very big, very narrative-driven games in development: Horizon Forbidden West and the next God of War. And for both of those, they’re frankly affected by access to performance capture and talent. For Horizon, we think we are on track to release this holiday season. But that isn’t quite certain yet, and we’re working as hard as we can to confirm that to you as soon as we can. For God of War, the project started a little later. So we’ve made the decision to push that game out to next year, to ensure that Santa Monica Studio can deliver the amazing God of War game that we all want to play

While fans have to wait just a little bit longer, the franchise is no stranger to delays, God of War was put in a similar situation. It originally was going to release in 2017 but got pushed back by a year. The studio will surely do everything it can to make the best possible game as the story of Kratos and Atreus continues.
