  • Oscar Isaac Set to Play Solid Snake in ‘Metal Gear Solid’ Film

Oscar Isaac Set to Play Solid Snake in ‘Metal Gear Solid’ Film

Hot of the tails of his run in a galaxy far far away as the rebel pilot Poe Dameron, Oscar Isaac seems to be filling up his post-Star Wars career and covering all bases. Recently it got announced that Isaac would be playing Moon Knight on the upcoming Disney+ show. Not just that, he will also be starring in the new HBO series Scenes From A Marriage alongside Jessica Chastain. Now, we got the news that Isaac has found his new lead role in an upcoming big-budget film. He will star as Solid Snake in the live-action adaptation of Hideo Kojima’Metal Gear Solid.

The film has been in development for a while now. Jordan Voght-Roberts was the first to join the production as director. The film is produced by Avi Arad and overseen by Peter Kang. Derek Connolly wrote the script for the adaptation. It is uncertain if it got a rewrite since. The casting is a huge deal, as Isaac has been a popular fancast of the role, especially after the actor showed his interest in it. Director Voght-Roberts at one point even commissioned a mock-up of what he’d look like as the character from the popular digital artist BossLogic. It isn’t the first time his artwork predicted a future casting.

The film currently has no release date, and it’s unknown when the project will begin production, especially Isaacs‘s packed schedule and commitments. So, it could be a while before we see him pop out from under a box anytime soon. We also don’t know if it will be an adaptation of a specific storyline from the franchise’s long run. There is a good chance the story will adapt Shadow Moses but integrate aspects from future story arcs. Now, the question is will we see the other two of the Les Enfants Terribles project.

  • David Ramsey Returns to CW’s Arrowverse as John Diggle and a Mystery Character

David Ramsey Returns to CW’s Arrowverse as John Diggle and a Mystery Character

Since the dawn of the Arrowverse, alongside Oliver Queen was his trusted confidant and partner in crime David Ramsey‘s John Diggle. Throughout the series, Diggle would come to take up the mantle of Spartan and became a permanent member of Team Arrow, as he joined Oliver in his crusade across Star City. Towards the end of the recent mega-crossover Crisis on Infinite Earths, we last saw Diggle packing up his things and moving to Metropolis. Shortly before he made his way to a new home, he came into contact with what looked to be Green Lantern Ring. For years it had become a running tease that Diggle would assume the role of a Green Lantern but never came to be but seems all the more likely now.

It looks like David Ramsey will be returning to the Arrowverse to direct and reprise his role as John Diggle in multiple episodes across the network lineup of DC-based series. He will return to direct episodes of The FlashSuperman and LoisSupergirlBatwoman, and even Legends of Tomorrow. Not just that, Ramsey will also be playing a mystery role in his episode on Legends of Tomorrow. Most fans could easily conclude that his role will be that of a Sector-2814 Green Lantern, especially after the tease his story ended on.

While we may not know until he officially returns on screen, it would be great to finally see Diggle assume the title once the Arrowverse makes its long-awaited return in 2021. The Arrowverse suffered some big hits this year. Every production got a delay, and then news broke that fan-favorite shows Supergirl and Black Lightning would come to an end. All this right after the show that started it all officially ended with its eight-season. Perhaps the return of Diggle might be a new beginning for the franchise in the new year.

  • ‘Titans’: First Look at Starfire’s New Design

‘Titans’: First Look at Starfire’s New Design

The third season of DC’s Titans is finally in production after a significant delay due to the ongoing pandemic. Fans have been clamoring for more info regarding the next season and were recently fed quite well with the reveal of Jason Todd’s Red Hood. There was also the hope that other characters get a much-needed upgrade to their design. Fans were especially hoping that Starfire, who has been one of the show’s standout characters, would finally get a comic-accurate costume. Anna Diop was once set to receive a suit back in the scrapped finale of the first season, which was seen in leaked footage.

Starfire first appeared in the series was involved with quite a bit of controversy regarding her overall design and Diop‘s casting in the role. Of course, once we saw her act, she made the role her own. Now, over the past few days, we’ve been receiving teases similar to that of the Red Hood reveal. Yet, this time, we’re given pieces of the concept art for the outfit for Starfire’s new look. Finally, we got the first look, and it seems they are going for an armored look that incorporates the classic purple and green.

Titans season 3 is currently in production and has no release date. It will premiere its third season on HBO Max after DC Universe became a digital comic library. The first two seasons of the series are now streaming exclusively on HBO Max. So, you should have more than enough time to catch up before the next one starts with the arrival of Red Hood and Starfire’s sister, Blackfire. Hopefully, fan-favorites Beast Boy and Raven also the redesign that they deserve. Seriously, poor Gar’s been wearing the same hoodie for two seasons now.

  • HBO Max’s ‘Green Lantern’ Audition Tapes Leaked

HBO Max’s ‘Green Lantern’ Audition Tapes Leaked

The HBO Max Green Lantern show is by far one of the most anticipated projects that’ll be coming to the streaming service. After last month’s announcement, many fans are on the edge of their seats waiting for any casting information on the show. The show’s cast of characters was confirmed to include the likes of Guy Gardner, Alan Scott, Jessica Cruz, and Simon Baz. They are also introducing an original character, Bree Jarta, who is half-human and half-alien. It seems like casting is indeed underway and could even possibly be finalized for some characters, as audition tapes have made their way online. Here are two that are offering fans a taste of what they can expect from the cast, such as Alan Scott and Bree Jarta.

    https://vimeo.com/479424933

The scene features Jarta, who we can only assume is speaking with a Guardian or dispatch of some sort on Oa, as she attempts to talk her way onto a search mission for the Dominators. This sequence seems to follow what sounds like a hostage situation that resulted in multiple fatalities of other Lanterns. The audition tape would match the rumors that the Dominators will be one of the era’s antagonists.

    https://vimeo.com/479421679

The second Jarta scene offers us a much better look into her character. She’s confronted some people in a local diner in Florida. It looks like her partner Guy Gardner may have provoked some. They are set to be the lanterns of the ’80s storyline in the show. They will likely be facing the Dominators throughout the show. It looks like the tension between the two will also play into it, as they definitely won’t be getting along. Their two personalities will clash throughout their story, as one is headstrong and the other hard-headed. The Guardians created a duo that’s sure to spark some problems down the road. The tape also highlights the racism that Jarta faces in the diner, as she notes the Confederate flags, the attitude of the waitress, and the glares she gets from other patrons. It’s great to see the show highlighting broader topics than just the usual clash between good and evil.

    https://vimeo.com/481429273

The final tape features Alan Scott, who we know as the Green Lantern of the Golden Age. He is a founding member of the Justice Society of America. It does seem unlikely that he’ll be involved with them in this series. Since the first report, we’ve learned that Scott will be an LGBTQ character with his storyline taking place in the ’40s. Being a member of such a community could cost someone their life during that era. It also revealed that Scott is an active police officer and a rather good one at that. The press is interviewing him after he took down a local mob boss. We see how frantic Scott is when someone even jokes about him possibly being queer. Not even his Green Lantern ring can give him a feeling of safety in a time full of so much prejudice and discrimination.

Green Lantern is set to begin filming sometime next year and will stream exclusively on HBO Max. The show will focus on several lanterns spanning decades, as each one faces a new threat, whether that be a personal one or on a galactic scale. The show is being written by Marc Guggenheim and Seth Grahame-Smith. It is yet another show to fall within Greg Berlanti’s umbrella of DC content that he’s amassed since the beginning of Arrow.

  • ‘Black Lightning’ To End With Season 4

‘Black Lightning’ To End With Season 4

The Arrowverse has had a tough go of it as of recently, following the conclusion of Arrow and death of Oliver Queen, the patriarch of the CW superhero universe in the finale of the epic Crisis on Infinite Earths storyline. Following this was the departure of Ruby Rose on Batwoman, citing issues with how production scheduling and overall just not being a great fit for her professionally. Now it’s with a heavy heart that we’ve learned that Black Lightning is set to end with season 4, joining Supergirl as the second of two main DC/CW staples that were established as members of the Arroverse Justice League at the end of the crisis crossover.

“When we first started the Black Lighting journey, I knew that Jefferson Pierce and his family of powerful Black women would be a unique addition to the superhero genre. The love that Blerds and all comic book fans around the globe have shown this series over the past three seasons proved what we imagined, Black people want to see themselves in all their complexities,” Said Executive producer and Showrunner Salim Akil, following with his kindest regards to those he spent time with on set “Thank you to the phenomenal cast, writers and crew without whom none of this would’ve been possible. I’m incredibly proud of the work we’ve been able to do and the moments we’ve been able to create in bringing DC’s first African-American family of superheroes to life for the culture.”

Black Lightning currently has a spinoff in place, focusing on Khalil, aka Painkiller, a character who has been put through the wringer since season 1. The series will be setup via a backdoor pilot within the show’s fourth season, but considering the CW’s history with backdoor pilots, there’s a good chance Painkiller could meet the same fate as Green Arrow and The Canaries.

  • ‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 Adds Robert Englund and More

‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 Adds Robert Englund and More

Strangers Things has become quite the household name since it premiered on Netflix in 2016. Over the past few seasons, the show has used many popular ’80s films as inspiration for its storyline. It follows the unfolding mystery of the upside-down and the things that bump within. The upcoming fourth season will even include nods to classic horror films, such as Alien and Maximum Overdrive. The pandemic has become the bane of many productions’ around the world, slowing and even completely halting them. Netflix’s tentpole franchise was no stranger to these delays, as it began filming earlier this year before being quickly shut down due to safety concerns. At least now, we are getting some major casting news for the series.

It’s being reported the show’s fourth season has just about rounded out its cast with some exciting editions that are sure to make horror fans and ’80s nostalgia junkies excited. • Matt Lintz Cast as Bruno Carrelli in ‘Ms. Marvel’

Matt Lintz Cast as Bruno Carrelli in ‘Ms. Marvel’

Today we were graced with our first look at Ms.Marvel, one of many Marvel Studios shows coming to Disney Plus. Ms.Marvel will follow Kamala Khan, played by newcomer Iman Vellani, as she comes into her own as a hero, inspired by the heroic feats of Captain Marvel. After acquiring fantastic abilities of elasticity, Kamala begins her journey to becoming one of the newest heroes of the MCU in a post-Endgame world.

Today’s photos not only gave us our first look at Vellani as Kamala but also of actor Matt Lintz (The Walking Dead, The Alienist). Given the familiarity of these two in the photos, Lintz is quite obviously playing the role of Bruno Carrelli, friend and trusted confidant of Kamala Kahn. Carrelli, a humble employee of Circle Q, is one of the only people to know the secret of Kamala’s alter ego as well as possessing a genius-level IQ of 170, serving as an asset to Kamala while she’s out fighting crime.

Ms.Marvel currently has no release date but is set to stream exclusively on the Disney Plus streaming service with episodes directed by Adil El Arbi, Bilall Fallah, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, and Meera Menon.

  • RUMOR: ‘Stargirl’ Cast Alkoya Brunson as Jakeem Thunder

RUMOR: ‘Stargirl’ Cast Alkoya Brunson as Jakeem Thunder

Stargirl‘s first season focused heavily on the legacy left behind by the Justice Society of America. It was about honoring those that came before, as a younger generation came together to form a new JSA when the world needed them most. The second season is sure to follow suit, with the rumored inclusion of Jade, the daughter of Alan Scott, and now the debut of Jakeem Thunder.

It’s being reported that young actor Alkoya Brunson has been cast as the latest hero to join the JSA, Jakeem Thunder. This news comes a few weeks after we received word that Comedian/Actor Jim Gaffigan would be voicing Thunderbolt, the entity that lives within the pink pen. The very one that Pat has warned Courtney not to touch on so many occasions. It once belonged to the JSA member Johnny Thunder. It’s unclear how Johnny died as he wasn’t in the opening scene of the previous season.

Stargirl‘s second season is already in production. It will feature the return of Brec Bassinger as the titular character, as well as her JSA teammates Luke Wilson, Yvette MonrealCameron Gelman, and Anjelika Washington. The next season will see the team face the likes of Shade and the recently unleashed Eclipso.

  • ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’: First Look at Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke

‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’: First Look at Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke

Zack Snyder’s Justice League is feeling like one big family reunion. Everyone is back on board to bring this film to life once more. Even if most of them are going to be at each other’s throats, keep in mind that they’re along for the ride through thick and thin. One of the later additions for the director’s cut was Joe Manganiello‘s Slade Wilson, aka Deathstroke. The mercenary had only previously appeared once in the DCEU. That was at the tail end of the theatrical Justice League release, in which we saw the character meet up with a now bald Lex Luthor. He offered Deathstroke the chance to form a league that can rival that of the newly founded Justice League.

Manganiello shared a new look at his character for the upcoming film. It seems mostly faithful to what we saw in the initial release with a few changes. This version seems to be slightly older than when we saw him last time. His hair seems much whiter, and he is sporting a mohawk. If you didn’t know, Manganiello did everything to prepare for this role. He took up sword fighting and katana lessons, as well as researching the best form of martial arts for the character to use. All that for a minor cameo, as he believed it would turn into a larger role later down the line. This more grizzled look could hint at Wilson showing up in a Knightmare scene, or it could be what Snyder intended his Deathstroke to look like in the first place.

Manganiello was once slated to be the main villain of Ben Affleck‘s Batman movie and receive his spinoff from director Gareth Evans who worked on the highly praised Raid franchise that was ultimately known for its intense martial arts action sequences. It’s unclear now what the future holds for Slade Wilson in the DCEU, but hopefully, this won’t be the last time we see him.
