‘WandaVision’: Agatha Takes on Wanda in New Images

SPOILERS for WandaVision episode 9 below!

A couple of new images of WandaVision’s villainous Agatha Harkness, played by Kathryn Hahn, have popped up on Amazon. At least one of them is definitely from the upcoming big finale. It just looks like a continuation of the cliffhanger, we were left on at the end of episode 8, but if you look closely in one of them it appears that Agatha is holding a red, not purple, ball of “wiggly woo” magic in her left hand. We know that red magic would have to have come from the Scarlet Witch, Wanda.

Agatha has also, at this point, clearly let go of Billy and Tommy, but she doesn’t appear too impressed with the ball of red in her hand. In fact, she’s smirking as if she’s just toying with Wanda’s attempt to strike her down. Perhaps Agatha Harkness will be a much bigger challenge to Wanda’s power than many had theorized. A serious threat, without needing any other “big bad” to swoop in and help her fight Wanda and her family. We will soon find out.

The other image definitely could have come from the previous episode. The purple strings from Agatha’s left hand, the one holding Billy, appears broken. So it may be from the final episode as well, with the magically inclined Billy being able to break free from “Auntie Agatha” before his brother is able to.

LEGO Leak Reveals How ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ Will Embrace Chinese Mythology

A first look at Shang-Chi’s costume finally arrived with the Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings Lego set, which got leaked this morning. It showcased some of the confirmed characters and a dragon. In a way, those things were expected, but it also included a mysterious flying creature without any facial features named Morris. After some digging, it turns out that this is a representation of Chinese mythology in the upcoming film. The strange creature is known as Dijiang.

    https://twitter.com/cosmic_marvel/status/1365217872616677380?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1365217872616677380%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.murphysmultiverse.com%2Fleaked-lego-set-offers-first-look-at-shang-chi-and-the-legend-of-the-ten-rings%2F

As described in the book A Chinese Bestiary: Strange Creatures from the Guideways Through Mountains and Seas, a Dijiang commonly six legs and four wings. It is like a featureless yellow or reddish sack otherwise. Without any eyes or ears, it is said to be in a constant state of confusion, which is why it was associated with the being of cosmic chaos, Hundun. Even without these essential features, it enjoys singing and dancing.

It does sound like a cutesy adorable thing that the kiddos will all enjoy getting in their McDonald’s Happy Meals when the movie comes out. However, I wonder how the little mythical beast might fit into the story and in what context. With a name like Morris, it must be someone’s pet. So, the question remains whose pet would he be then? As we learned from Goose in Captain Marvel, sometimes the most innocent, sweet, and benign-looking creatures can have a big impact in an MCU film. So what secrets this cute but strange little creature has yet to reveal has me intrigued.

  • ‘HAWKEYE’ Set Photos Seemingly Reveal the Clown’s Connection to the Tracksuits

‘HAWKEYE’ Set Photos Seemingly Reveal the Clown’s Connection to the Tracksuits

There’s been quite a bit of excitement over the Clown (aka Kazimierz Kazimierczak) appearing in Hawkeye ever since casting grids pointed to him being in it last summer. Irish actor Fra Fee snagged the villainous assassin’s role but it appears, at first anyway, he will not be donning iconic white mime makeup, and will actually start off as a member of the Tracksuit Mafia.

New images from Instagramer @ryleeherself show Fee and Hailee Steinfield on their way to film something, and it’s clear that Fee is wearing a tracksuit, much like the ones Tracksuit Mafia members were seen in other recent Hawkeye set images.

Fee has also been spotted once or twice before on set, with regular-looking clothes and no clown makeup at all. But for those of you who may be disappointed, I don’t think this means the character will never have the more familiar creepy and ominous look from the Matt Fraction comic run. This might be evidence of more of an origin story for the character first before he turns into a more familiar-looking version of the Clown.

Christinaatthecastle on TikTok (via Twitter) offered another, better look at Steinfeld and Fee on set:

Fra Fee on Hawkeye set, via christinaatthecastle on TikTok.

A recent Instagram story by Fee revealed a detail that may be part of his costume. The image below was taken in the middle of the night, probably during a night shoot, revealing a skull and cross tattoo on his neck. Previous images of Fee on his Instagram do not show this tattoo at all, and it seems very unlikely he’d be getting one in the middle of filming a big series. So the creepy skull tattoo is probably temporary for the character.

Another Mafia member who was first spotted back in early December appears very likely to be the leader of the Tracksuits, Ivan Banionis. The actor has since been identified as Aleks Paunovic (from the Van Helsing TV series). Numerous images of this tall imposing actor have appeared on Just Jared and Getty, and if you look you’ll notice that there are quite a few tattoos on his character as well. So tattoos and tracksuits definitely seem to go hand in hand for this gang.

  • Theory Thursday: ‘She-Hulk’ May Be Bigger Than We Expect

Theory Thursday: ‘She-Hulk’ May Be Bigger Than We Expect

While everyone is focusing on the supernatural aspects of WandaVision, Marvel Studios will introduce a different perspective of Phase 4 in less than a month with The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Just like how Wanda’s story is setting up, what I like to call, the Multiverse Arc of the MCU, I suspect that the next Disney+ show will possibly set up not just one but multiple arcs. For example, I imagine it will be a key piece in setting up the superpowered team known as The Thunderbolts. This set-up may not be the only thing that the upcoming series might tackle. I suspect that the Sokovia Accords might play an essential role in the story, which will start to unravel once She-Hulk releases.

If we look back at the series description, it highlights that the series will focus on superhuman legal cases. Now, if you consider everything that is happening in the MCU, by the time She-Hulk arrives on our television, which will presumably be in 2022. The superpowered community may lose face in the public eye as future events unfold. The Sokovia Accords are still in effect, as confirmed by Agent Jimmy Woo during an episode of WandaVision. So what does this all entail?

According to my current theory, She-Hulk may be based around Jennifer Walters presenting a case that the Sokovia Accords are unconstitutional. It might build-up to her asking the United Nations to revoke them. Introducing Jennifer Walters into the MCU at this moment is by no means an accident, and this show has the potential to showcase Walters’ abilities both in the courtroom and in battle. This story also sets up what was teased in the rest of the show’s description.

She-Hulk will welcome a host of Marvel characters to the series, including the Hulk, played by Mark Ruffalo, and the Abomination, played by Tim Roth.

Notice the keywords in that description hinting at a host of Marvel characters? It confirms that Banner and Blonsky will not be the only MCU characters in the show. I suspect that given the legal aspect of this show, we might see several MCU characters pop in as potential witnesses that can either make or break Walters’ case. Sam Wilson, Wanda Maximoff, Vision, Kamala Khan, James Rhodes, and any other Marvel Cinematic Universe hero could be called into the stand.

It could also be a creative way to introduce Krysten Ritter‘s Jessica Jones into the MCU, who was rumored to appear a while back. We could also see Walters seek legal advice from other colleagues, such as Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock. If this theory pans out and given how Marvel is now pushing its projects to include characters from the entire universe, She-Hulk will certailny be a show to keep an eye on. The defense rests its case, your honor.

  • Connecting Imaginary Dots: Polish actor Piotr Adamczyk a Tracksuit Mafia member in ‘Hawkeye’

Connecting Imaginary Dots: Polish actor Piotr Adamczyk a Tracksuit Mafia member in ‘Hawkeye’

It’s been reported for quite some time that Matt Fraction’s infamous Hawkeye mobsters, The Tracksuit Mafia, would have a significant presence in the upcoming Disney+ series. However, little has come out about specific casting for this group of baddies, aside from assassin Kazimierz Kazimierczak (aka the Clown played by Fra Fee). After a bit of connecting imaginary dots by a Facebook user, and a bit more investigation by myself, I believe another actor and possible significant character related to the gang has been uncovered.

Facebook user Lysy z Marvela, recently posted that popular Polish actor Piotr Adamczyk appeared on Good Morning TVN and said that he is in Atlanta shooting a project that he can’t talk about. We all know how secretive Marvel Studios is about their projects, and there are several Marvel projects currently filming in Georgia, so, it really isn’t a stretch to think he’s appearing in one of those. Lysy z Marvela also notes that Adamczyk is following Marvel, and several actors from Hawkeye on his Instagram, which I confirmed. He is following Marvel, Hailee Steinfield, Jeremy Renner, Vera Farmiga, and perhaps most interestingly, he is mutually following Fee. That would appear to link the two actors more closely within the show.

In August of 2020, it was reported by the Direct that Hawkeye was looking for Eastern European actors to portray mobsters, and Adamczyk being Polish would certainly fit the bill.

A quick look at the actor’s IMDB reveals he’s had a significant career, most recently appearing in For All Mankind on Apple TV, as well as Madame Secretary, and he has starred in biopics about both Chopin, and Pope John-Paul II. It is not a stretch to assume, if he is indeed in Hawkeye, that he is playing a member of the Tracksuit Mafia. And if he’s playing a member of the Tracksuit Mafia, given the depth of his filmography, it’s certainly not a stretch to think he’s a significant member of the gang. Bro!

  • ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ Production Update

‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ Production Update

A few weeks ago actress Meagan Good, who played Super Hero Darla in 2019’s Shazam!, appeared on the Carlos Watson show and told him “God willing and by the grace of God, Shazam 2 starts in May.” Now, this was not exactly an answer that instilled a huge amount of confidence that Shazam! Fury of the Gods, would begin filming in May after a significant delay, but it was certainly hopeful. I can now confirm that the Shazam! sequel is still on schedule to begin filming in Georgia at the end of May or early June.

    The Shazam family!

Previously it had been reported that Shazam! Fury of the Gods would film in Toronto, ON, Canada this Spring, but this has apparently changed. At this time, it’s unclear whether or not the production will film entirely in Georgia or they will travel to Canada at some point to film as well. But I have heard that the Georgia part of production is prepping currently and is on course to begin filming at the end of May.

    Black Adam vs Shazam

It is interesting to note that Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam is also currently in pre-production in Georgia and should be filming at the same time. Whether or not the Shazam! production “powers that be” decided to move to Georgia for this reason (in order to make any potential cross overs between the films much easier to make happen and keep secret) is unclear, but it’s certainly a possibility!

Shazam! Fury of the Gods, starring Zachary Levi and directed by David F. Sandberg,  is scheduled to be released June 2, 2023

Source: Twitter (Carlos Watson Show video)

Note: This is not my source, however a shout out to @pridenation on Twitter who also got the info a few days ago that Shazam! Fury of the Gods would be filming in Georgia, so kudos to them on getting the location!

  • ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’: Tom Holland Reveals Title for Spidey Threequel

‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’: Tom Holland Reveals Title for Spidey Threequel

After months of speculation (and people trying to figure out all sorts of words or phrases with the word “Home” in them), we finally have a title for the third Spider-Man film, officially titled “Spider-Man: No Way Home”. They revealed it in a small video alongside the new video:

    https://www.instagram.com/p/CLrwOAcljxN/?igshid=1pfgjzdcym8jg

The title was revealed today on social media, hours after the stars of the show started to post different versions of the title on social media.

The movie is currently in production, with Tom Holland set to reprise his role as Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man. Not only is Tom returning to the titular role but most of the supporting cast of the previous films, such as Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are returning as well for their roles as MJ and Ned Leeds respectively.

Additionally, we’ll also see Benedict Cumberbatch reprising his role as Doctor Strange in the typical “mentor” role that’s been seen in the last couple of Spider-Man films. We’re also set to see the introduction of Charlie Cox into the MCU as Matt Murdock, and even Jamie Foxx reprising his role as Electro alongside Alfred Molina as Doc Ock. This isn’t even taking into consideration the heavy rumors that even more actors from the previous Spider-Man franchises are coming into the MCU, including Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s interpretations as Spider-Man.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is scheduled to premiere on December 17, 2021.

  • UPDATE: Marvel Studios Not Bringing ‘Big Hero 6’ to the MCU After All

UPDATE: Marvel Studios Not Bringing ‘Big Hero 6’ to the MCU After All

UPDATE: It looks like Big Hero 6 might not be making their live-action debut anytime soon after all. In a brand new report by Variety, they state that their sources at the studio confirm there are no current plans. They believe the franchise is currently staying in Disney’s hands rather than returning to its Marvel branding. The upcoming Baymax-focused sequel is also stated as a reason that Disney is keen on keeping the franchise in-house to avoid confusion. The original film and its sequel series never got the iconic Marvel branding, so that could be one of the reasons. It doesn’t mean it will never happen, but for now, the recent report by DisInsider has been debunked.

    Source: Variety

When Marvel Studios said that the universe is expanding, it seems like they really meant it. According to Derek Cornell over at TheDisInsider, the superhero team known as Big Hero 6 is coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. You may have already heard of this team before, most notable for their solo animated picture from Disney animation back in 2014. While the film was a big departure from the original comics, it still was quite popular amongst fans. Now it seems that DisInsider uncovered that Marvel Studios is ready to bring them into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Unofficial Logo Render by Superhero Theorist

At the moment, there isn’t a lot known about the project at this time. It is uncertain if they plan on introducing the comic version of the team or if Marvel will go with Disney’s versions. What we do know is that this will be a live-action adaptation. They also hint at them potentially appearing in a future series, such as Secret Invasion, the rumored Agents of Atlas, or Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. As such, it would rules out projects like Marvel’s “What If…?”. However, we know that Marvel tends to sneak in a couple of easter eggs now and then regarding their upcoming projects. So, while it may not have been a direct hint that Big Hero 6 is joining the MCU, Marvel did sneak a nice little easter egg regarding one of the franchise’s characters. Tadashi Hamada’s name is seen briefly in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) when Tony Stark goes through new AIs to replace JARVIS.

Following the 2014 animated film, Disney produced a 2D animated sequel series titled Big Hero 6: The Series, which will end this year. There is also a spinoff planned to debut on Disney+ next year titled Baymax. So, it looks like there are big plans for Hiro and Baymax moving forward.

  • ‘WandaVision’ Gets Soberingly Real With its Last Sitcom Era

‘WandaVision’ Gets Soberingly Real With its Last Sitcom Era

With only two episodes of WandaVision to go, reality has finally caught up with Wanda, in more ways than one. Yes, the show finally reached the present day this week, just in time for the excitement and allure of Westview to disappear and become a much more cynical place.

With a couple of exceptions, WandaVision has used its sitcom structure to effectively highlight and/or subvert the feel of whatever time period Westview happens to be experiencing during the current episode. Long gone are the carefree days of the 1950s, and even the difficult lessons of the 1980s are too sugar-coated for the town by “Breaking the Fourth Wall.” All of these eras have had their blissful bubbles burst by one incident or another, and now Wanda is ready to give up on this one before it even starts. She’s not going to bother attempting to maintain hope and optimism in her children, either. She just wants some time to forget about everything, and it’s even sadder to think about when you remember that this was her whole motivation behind creating Westview in the first place.

WandaVision episode 7 review: "A reveal brings about the endgame" | GamesRadar+

This cynical attitude isn’t the only modern sitcom trope present in this episode. The documentary style of television that was largely popularized by reality TV eventually made its mark on sitcoms like Modern Family and The Office with characters frequently breaking the fourth wall as if they’re speaking to an interviewer (the term “mockumentary” has been coined in reference to this) and there’s plenty of that to be found here. Even characters who are trapped in “real life” are somehow able to magically pop over to an interview location to speak to the audience this week, and of course this is eventually lampshaded before the episode is over. There’s even a point at which Vision simply looks into the “regular”, non-interview camera; also a common trope of the times.

The lack of lyrics – or even character shots – also fits in with modern-day sitcoms. But those disappointed by the final Anderson-Lopez theme tune being…uneventful were surprised when a theme song for a whole different side of the story capped off the episode.

After much fan speculation, “Agnes the Neighbor” was finally confirmed to be Agatha Harkness, a character lifted from Marvel Comics but considerably changed for WandaVision (most notably in that Agatha isn’t a villain in the comics). A montage of her evil deeds throughout the eras of Westview was accompanied by her very own theme song, which was very reminiscent of the one for The Munsters, a 1960’s sitcom about a family consisting of various types of monsters (not to be confused with The Addams Family, which ran during the exact same years and had nearly the same number of episodes).

“Breaking the Fourth Wall” was the last episode of WandaVision to focus on emulating a specific era of sitcoms, but as Agatha’s theme song demonstrated, that doesn’t necessarily mean all the references are done quite yet. This episode showed the magic maintaining Westview’s eras going haywire, and it’s very likely this will escalate as WandaVision hurdles toward its March 5 finale.

  • ‘WandaVision’ Episode 8 Will Be Longest to Date

‘WandaVision’ Episode 8 Will Be Longest to Date

Much debate and speculation has been going on the past few weeks about the episode lengths of upcoming WandaVision shows, with people wondering when Disney+ might give us a significantly larger weekly bite of this marvelous magical apple. Well now that the “big bad” not-so-surprise reveal at the end of episode 7 has us on the edge of our seats and wanting even more answers, a Redditor who was right about last week’s running time has posted what they believe is the running time for the crucial episode 8. Plenty_Echidna_544 posted that the upcoming episode will be 47 minutes long.

As the redditor points out, they were indeed correct about last week’s episode runtime.
