  • First ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Merch Offers First Look at Natalie Portman’s Mighty Thor

First ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Merch Offers First Look at Natalie Portman’s Mighty Thor

Here’s a curious surprise, as it seems that the first piece of merchandise for Thor: Love and Thunder have found its way into stores early. It’s similar to how we learned about the Guardians of the Multiverse in What If…?. This time around, we got what looks like a poster for the upcoming Thor sequel which includes our first look at a new suit design for the God of Thunder and, most notably, our first look at Natalie Portman‘s Mighty Thor costume. @GodEmperorBoss was the lucky one to find the first look:

    https://twitter.com/GodEmperorBoss/status/1469673883418521601?t=FmIKfXLTP2tuMs2l2Wp8pg&s=09

It’s unclear if this is simply a poster meant for merchandise purposes, as it would seem odd that the first poster for the film that isn’t going to release until July 8th is already available in stores. Plus, it does seem like a lot of it is based on the artwork. Still, Portman‘s Mighty Thor looks great and a lot of it seems strongly inspired by her comic run combined with Thor’s earlier costumes.

We also get a brand new design for the actual God of Thor, who’s wearing a nice combination of gold and blue armor. Korg is also given the spotlight with a new look and Valkyrie can be seen in the back riding a Pegasus wearing a similar armor design that thor normally uses. So, she’ll also get a new look that is fitting for the ruler of New Asgard. It’s exciting and crazy to think we see more of Love and Thunder than Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which is set to release in May.

  • Disney+ Spain Update Indicates ‘Moon Knight’ Will Be Marvel’s First Streaming Release of 2022

Disney+ Spain Update Indicates ‘Moon Knight’ Will Be Marvel’s First Streaming Release of 2022

Marvel Studios is closing out its first year of live-action streaming content. While the series had some uneven moments, it’s hard to argue that the studio’s first foray into the world of streaming series wasn’t successful. WandaVision, The Falcon and The Winter Solider and Loki all featured great character work, introduced new characters and opened the door to new corners of the MCU. The studio’s final effort in year one, Hawkeye, has been similarly well-received and will close out the year with a Kingpin-sized bang.

Of course even as we’re still getting great content in 2021, fans are eagerly anticipating Marvel’s 2022 slate of streaming series. Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight and She-Hulk are all sure things for the service as well as a Werewolf By Night project that could be the studio’s first made-for-Disney+ movie and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. Even with all that going on, it’s possible that Secret Invasion could find a spot on the streaming service near the end of 2022 as well.

The studio has, however, been tight-lipped about WHEN we can expect which series, with Ms. Marvel being the only one to which they’ve assigned a time frame. While we wait on Disney’s 2022 press kit, an update by Disney+ Spain, shared on Twitter by Quid Vacuo, looks to give a little more insight on what to expect when.

The update, emailed to press yesterday, lists the three Marvel Studios projects in the order indicated above, meaning it’s likely that that the Oscar Isaac-led series should stream first, likely shortly after The Book of Boba Fett completes its run. While it is an official communication, it’s important to remember that the 2021 press preview kit indicated that Ms. Marvel would not only stream in 2021, but also stream before Hawkeye. Things can and do change all the time, a lesson fans have had to learn time and time again over the past 2 years.

Should this potential schedule hold, fans would have 3 streaming series, spanning 22 episodes (She-Hulk is said to have a 10-episode run) between February and September. Marvel Studios also has films slated for May (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness), July (Thor: Love and Thunder) and November (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), the two holiday-themed events as stated above and a second season of What If…?, meaning fans have plenty of content to consume in 2022.

  • RUMOR: Grogu to Appear in ‘The Book of Boba Fett’

RUMOR: Grogu to Appear in ‘The Book of Boba Fett’

Lucasfilm’s next Star Wars streaming series, The Book of Boba Fett, will kick off later this month and has already generated a considerable amount of buzz. The series will follow Fett attempt to take over the criminal empire once headed by Jabba the Hutt and looks like it’ll have room for plenty of appearances by other interesting characters, old and new. According to a new rumor, one such character might be a fan favorite who could owe Fett a favor.

SWNN (via our good friend at Bespin Bulletin) claims that Jedi-in-training Grogu will make an appearance in The Book of Boba Fett. The origin of the claim stem from t-shirts made for a visual effects crew that worked on the series, seen below. SWNN reported they then checked with sources and were able to confirm Grogu’s appearance in the series.

Grogu joins a long list of characters from The Mandalorian who are rumored to appear in the new series. Grogu’s caretaker, Din Djarrin, his friend Greef Karga, for Imp Miggs Mayfield and the man who once wore Fett’s armor, Cobb Vanth, have been said to be in the show at one time or another. There are also plenty of rumors about other bounty hunters and criminals from the Star Wars Universe popping up in the series, all of whom might look to do more than chew the fat with Fett.

The Book of Boba Fett‘s 7-episode run kicks off December 29th on Disney Plus.

  • ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 2’ Director Already Has Ideas for a Potential Sequel

‘Sonic the Hedgehog 2’ Director Already Has Ideas for a Potential Sequel

During the Game Awards, we finally got our first look at the upcoming sequel of 2019’s Sonic the Hedgehog. We learned some time ago that Idris Elba would return to voice the character of Knuckles, but knew very little about what to expect from the sequel. Right before the event, we got our first poster confirming the return of Jim Carrey‘s Robotnik and a hint at what the future has to offer.

It wasn’t until the trailer dropped that we got a look at the Echidna and even the confirmation of the Master Emerald appearing. Of course, the greater mythology of the original series opening up does make you wonder if they mapped out with sequels in mind. Luckily, director Jeff Fowler offered some insight in a new interview with Collider. While a third entry has yet to be confirmed, it seems the director already has some ideas brewing.

Of course. Even if somebody didn’t ask me to be thinking about ideas for future installments, it would be impossible not to. Even as we’re working through the visual effects and animation on this film, it’s impossible not to already get excited and to be starting to scheme about all the directions that the story could go, what new characters coming in, the impact that they could have. It’s the best part of the creative process when it’s just kind of a blank canvas and you can really just start to have blue sky ideas, even if, again, it’ not in an official capacity. If the request comes through to start laying the blueprints for another Sonic film, I will be armed and ready with all kinds of ideas. I would just love to get that opportunity.

    Jeff Fowler

Of course, he won’t give away any details on what their potential approach is going to be, especially with the sequel taking on elements from multiple franchises. Technically, Knuckles’ introduction is from Sonic the Hedgehog 3 while there were also GUN sightings, which were introduced as part of the Sonic Adventure franchise. They might take elements from the game’s original lore and mix them up in creative ways. It does make you wonder though if Master Emerald is also going to lead into the eventual introduction of Chaos.

  • ‘What If..?’s Captain Carter Getting Her Own Comic Series

‘What If..?’s Captain Carter Getting Her Own Comic Series

What If…? introduced us to a variety of characters that we are technically familiar with, but were given a new twist. Among them was the headliner character of Peggy Carter. Not only did Hayley Atwell return to voice the character one more time, but she got to tackle an alternative timeline where she becomes the one who receives the super-soldier formula. Well, it seems she was such a popular character that she is getting her own comic series that’ll premiere next March.

Jamie McKelvie, who worked on Captain Marvel and Young Avengers in the past, will tackle the new storyline about the popular character. Not just that, they also gave the character a fresh paint job with a whole new look that’ll be brought to life by Marika Cresta, who made a name for herself based on her work on Star Wars: Doctor Aphra. McKelvie offered

I’m as big a fan of the Captain Carter we’ve seen onscreen as anybody, so I jumped at the chance to create our own version. I’m having a great time exploring what it would be like for Peggy to wake up nearly 80 years after the end of the war. The world remembers the myth of Captain Carter, but to Peggy the reality was just yesterday. Now she finds herself in a nearly unrecognizable new world, how does she fit in? Can she be the Super Hero people want her to be?

    Jamie McKelvie

The cover has been revealed for the five-issue limited series that’ll introduce Carter’s adventures in the modern day:

CAPTAIN CARTER #1 Cover by Jamie McKelvie

It’s great to see the comics take inspiration from the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe, which in turn learns from those that came before. So, who knows what new ideas and concepts we might see get used by both companies as they learn from each other.

  • New ‘Hawkeye Funko Pops Unveiled for Kate and Clint Revealed

New ‘Hawkeye Funko Pops Unveiled for Kate and Clint Revealed

Always wanted to get into the Christmas spirit with the perfect ugly sweaters? So did Kate Bishop and Clint Barton did in the latest episode of Hawkeye. While one would expect a Yelena Belova-inspired Funko given her return at the end of the episode, but Funko was embracing the Christmas spirit and shared two new Funkos of our favorite new duo in their Holiday outfits, as they took some time to unwind. And yes, Clint even has his Grumpy Cat print on the sweater.

The designs are great, but, strangely, they wouldn’t want to bank on the return of a popular character from Black Widow. Her new suit probably won’t appear again with the iconic Sam Fisher-inspired look, as teased by some of the other trailers. So, they might add one in a more iconic look for the character later on. Of course, they might also release multiple sets this time around, and are keeping it alongside another new reveal with a certain “uncle.” Interestingly, Kate has the most amount of Funko Pops in the collection, but given the focus, she gets in the series it makes sense she’ll get highlighted quite a bit. Plus, she goes through the most looks in the series.

  • Marvel Studios Confirms ‘Eternals’ Disney+ January Release

Marvel Studios Confirms ‘Eternals’ Disney+ January Release

It looks like we finally have confirmation that Eternals will release on Disney+ early next year, as Marvel Studios took to Twitter to share a new poster confirming its release date. It’ll start streaming as of January 12th and bring the storyline of the Celestial-born creations to the streaming service. The release date was first hinted at a few weeks ago due to it following the new streaming deal that Disney made with theaters that closed the window on releases with a new 70-day window. The announcement comes alongside a slightly updated poster with the new Disney+ release.

The film has been performing quite well in the local box office and has even passed Black Widow, but that film did release during a very uncertain time and also gained quite a bit of traction through being one of the few simultaneous releases on Disney+ for the House of Mouse. It’ll be interesting to see if Eternals gets a second life on the streaming service, as we still have no idea if we’ll get a sequel or spinoff from the series. After Shang-Chi finally got a confirmation, we’ll see what the future holds for the Eternals and Celestials..

  • Tom Holland Hopes For Spider-Man to Clash With Wilson Fisk After ‘No Way Home’

Tom Holland Hopes For Spider-Man to Clash With Wilson Fisk After ‘No Way Home’

Spider-Man: No Way Home finally releases next week. With numerous villains returning from previous Spider-Man franchises there has been a lot of discussion about future adventures for the webhead. Sony producer Amy Pascal has even suggested there is another trilogy starring Tom Holland in the works. Such a rich comic history means there are lots of suggestions out there about where this Peter Parker could go next. Vincent D’Onofrio recently revealed he’s hoping, if those returning rumors turn out to be true, his Wilson Fisk could go up against Spidey at some point in the future. Holland himself has even had a few similar ideas.

In an interview with Fandom.com Tom Holland was asked about some of his ideas for a fourth Spider-Man film could be. He mentions thinking it would be fun to do either an anti-hero version or a low-budget “film about Peter Parker that has nothing to do with Spider-Man.” Both of these suggestions seem in the realms of possibility somehow. His suggestions at a villain are also quite interesting:

I think there are some interesting villains, I think Madame Web could be something that is really interesting and we could do it in our own way. I’d really like to come up against Wilson Fisk.

    Tom Holland

Sometimes fanciful ideas during the promotion of the previous film are worth taking note of to see whether they remerge as genuine continuations of the story. Spider-Man fighting the Kingpin would certainly be an exciting street-level story for Marvel fans. There are numerous rumors about Netflix Marvel characters joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Kevin Feige has teased that. It could be the perfect time for Spidey to reorient himself away from multiversal Avengers level threats back down tackling crime on street level.

  • First ‘The Secrets of Dumbledore’ Teaser Offers First Look at Mads Mikkelsen as Grindelwald

First ‘The Secrets of Dumbledore’ Teaser Offers First Look at Mads Mikkelsen as Grindelwald

It was over a year ago that we heard the first rumblings that Johnny Depp was getting replaced in the third entry of the Fantastic Beasts franchise. After making his debut as Grindelwald, he exited the project after production had already begun. Mads Mikkelsen took over the role shortly after. Not too long ago, we got the title of the third entry The Secrets of Dumbledore and we finally got our first look at the entry. While it’s not the fault trailer just yet – that’s eyeing a Monday release – we did get our first look at Mikkelsen as the series main antagonist.

    Image

It’s uncertain what exactly is happening in this sequence, as it seems like he’s being cheered on or even grabbed by a massive group of people. The character has quite a different design from the previous entries, as his bleached white hair is gone with only a slither left behind. His outfit also seems a bit more reserved from Depp‘s take on the character. It’ll b einteresting to see how they tackle the transformation, as it may play similar to how he was revealed in the first one.

  • EXCLUSIVE: Tom Root on Patrick’s Journey as A Squire in ‘Crossing Swords’

EXCLUSIVE: Tom Root on Patrick’s Journey as A Squire in ‘Crossing Swords’

It’s rare for adult animated comedies to put in the work to develop their characters, but it’s not all that uncommon. Crossing Swords is one of those shows that tries to fully develop all of its characters. However, it’s the protagonist, Patrick, that really gets the most development in both seasons of the show.

In an exclusive interview with Tom Root, one of the creators of Crossing Swords, we talked about developing Patrick’s story for the series. As far as Root sees it, Patrick has a couple of paths as far as his story goes, either he’s going to become the hero or he’s going to become the greatest villain. As it stands, Patrick’s journey is still being written.

“Well, he’s going down the path he needs to go down because he’s still learning. He found out in Season 1 that being a Knight and chasing this dream would mean that he’s gonna have to make a lot of compromise, and in Season 2, he’s gonna find out just how far those compromises are gonna push him. Like, we think that he is going to find a breaking point down the road, and he’s either going to have to figure out a way to become a hero without compromise, or he’s going to snap and become the greatest villain in the entire land. We haven’t written that part yet.

    Tom Root

Root’s tease of Patrick possibly traveling down a much darker path in the future would be an interesting development in the series. Since Season 1, Patrick has been the stereotypical boy scout, who tries to be the best he can be in his own occupation. Even Seth Green agrees that Patrick traveling down a darker path wouldn’t be an unwelcome surprise.

I mean evil Patrick, or Patrick breaking bad, thats not necessarily the worst pitch

    Seth Green

Season 2 of Crossing Swords is streaming now on Hulu. The series was created by Tom Root and John Harvatine IV, with Seth Green serving as an executive producer.
