  • Haley Bennett Joins Eli Roth’s ‘Borderlands’ Film

Haley Bennett Joins Eli Roth’s ‘Borderlands’ Film

The Borderlands film has been a shock to many. There is a negative stigma surrounding the very idea of video game movies. There have been exceptions, but their track record hasn’t been motivating. Maybe in the coming years, that’ll finally change. Something feels different with this one. The film has managed to acquire a large cast for what’s sure to be a volatile and deranged adventure on the planet of Pandora. We recently broke the exclusive on the film seeking an aged-up version of the popular character, Mad Moxxi. Now, it seems that they are expanding with a brand new character

The Hillbilly Elegy and The Devil All The Time star Haley Bennett has officially joined the production. She will play a brand new character. According to the description, she will be “the key to Cate Blanchett’s character, Lillith.” For those who don’t know, Lillith is a being with incredible and mysterious powers. She belongs to the famous Sirens, who are covered in tattoos. It is also interesting to note that only six can exist at a time. As IGN points out, Bennet could get connected to how Lillith gains her abilities. It is also interesting that they

Borderlands is set to be directed by Eli Roth, with a star-studded cast that includes Cate Blanchett, Kevin HartJack BlackFlorian MonteauJamie Lee Curtis, and Ariana Greenblat. Plot details are currently under wraps, but considering it’s a Borderlands movie, we’ll probably see them crack a vault or two.

  • ‘Zatanna’ Project Officially In The Works

‘Zatanna’ Project Officially In The Works

Almost a year ago, it was announced that J.J. Abrams and his production company, Bad Robot, would be getting into development on a series of projects that build up to a Justice League Dark series. At first, it seemed that it was going to be a series purely about the team, but a few months later words got out that HBO Max developing a new solo series surrounding John Constantine. At the time, they’d already begun searching for an actor to play the role. Now, it seems as though we could see a build-up to the eventual meeting of the JLD, as another famous member is getting their own series.

During an AT&T Investor’s Day presentation, they revealed a variety of DC shows that are in development. Eagle-eyed fans noticed a fan-favorite magician, Zatanna, is getting her own adaptation. While it’s not known if this project will be a film or a series, it seems more likely to be the series if you consider how these characters are being handled at HBO Max. Little is known about the project considering it was just announced but we’ll hopefully get some word on it soon.

It’ll be interesting to see what eventually brings these magical heroes together. We also will have to see who ends up on the roster of this team. In the comics, the roster has changed so frequently. So, they have a variety of choices for the upcoming series. I do believe that Zatanna is a necessity on the team. She has been part of almost every version, as such, she is a necessity. It will be great to see also see what evil might force these unlikely heroes to work together.

  • New ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ Clips Showcase Bucky and Sam’s Frenemies Dynamic

New ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ Clips Showcase Bucky and Sam’s Frenemies Dynamic

Early reviews are beginning to drop for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and it’s exciting to see the positive reactions pouring out. Today Marvel also dropped a couple of new clips from the Disney+ series, which shows the friendly, yet combative relationship between the two leads.

The first clip entitled “What’s the Plan?” clearly showcases that the two just don’t get along. The staring contest and Bucky’s protest over Sam calling him “Buck” make that point very clear. Bucky and Sam are going to have to build trust and friendship if they’re going to succeed in their mission and survive their series.

The second clip is titled “The Big Three” and is easily my favorite. As a huge Hobbit fan, I loved the reference, and the thought of young Bucky buying the J.R.R. Tolkien classic back in 1937. It makes you wonder if he perhaps let his buddy Steve borrow it to read after. That is just too perfect for me. Also, I’m loving Old-Man-gatekeeper-fan Bucky telling Sam he read it when it first came out. Tolkien burn, Sam!

The fun back and forth dynamic mixes well with the tension and distrust that Bucky probably feels after so many years of being used as a killing machine. When you combine that with Sam’s slightly annoying charm, as he attempts to befriend the Winter Soldier and bring him under his wing (pardon the pun), we have a very promising dynamic. It will be interesting to see how their relationship grows throughout the next Disney+ series by Marvel Studios.

  • Report: ‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier’ Episodes to Run 45 to 55

Report: ‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier’ Episodes to Run 45 to 55

A new article from the New York Times on the upcoming Disney+ Marvel Studios series, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, reports that the series of 6 episodes will all be 45 to 55 minutes in length.

“The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” consisting of six 45-to-55-minute episodes to be rolled out weekly, offers timely explorations into the nature of patriotism and extremism and the values of inclusivity, diversity and representation, set in a world striving for stability after a global catastrophe.

    NY Times

This is in some contrast with recent quotes from series star Anthony Mackie and Kevin Feige, with Mackie comparing the series to a 6 to 8-hour movie, and Feige correcting that slightly with a “not quite 8 hours.” One assumes the New York Times should have good sources, but as someone who wants as much of the new adventures of Bucky and Sam as possible, I hope it’s a bit more.

  • Amazon’s ‘The Boys’ Spinoff Adds Jaz Sinclair

Amazon’s ‘The Boys’ Spinoff Adds Jaz Sinclair

It looks like Amazon is not wasting any time, as right after they unveiled Lizze Broadway announced for the upcoming The Boys spin-off, they’ve already announced the next cast member. Deadline has revealed that Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star, Jaz Sinclair, has joined the upcoming spin-off as another one of the series leads. She will tackle the role of Marie Moreau.

Around a week ago, the casting details were supposedly released, which offer some insight into what character Sinclair will end up playing. Marie is a young, up-and-coming hero from the Caribbean. She is the first and only hero from that region, so she has a lot of responsibility to make her home country proud. Hopefully, we won’t see her downfall through the negative influence of Vought. We already know they can barely control a group of adults, so who knows how well they can manage hormonal teenagers.

The spin-off still has no official name as of now. It will follow a group of young superheroes, who visit Vought International’s school. The Boys executive producer Craig Rosenberg is writing the series, so that ensures that it will have the same heart, raunch, and satire as the original. At this rate, we might get the casting news for the rest of the cast by the end of the week. Hopefully, it also means we get an official title soon that finally unveils how they can title a spin-off based on The Boys. Its success could also start the development of more spin-offs in the future, so it is certainly a series to keep an eye out for.

  • Jac Schaeffer Explains Why Wonder Man Didn’t Make the Cut in ‘WandaVision’

Jac Schaeffer Explains Why Wonder Man Didn’t Make the Cut in ‘WandaVision’

Marvel Studios layered plenty of easter eggs and red herrings into its first Disney Plus streaming series, WandaVision. From Bova milk to the Whizzer to the Grim Reaper’s helmet in the Episode 2 opening to allusions to the devil that led many fans to think Mephisto was coming to the ultimate bait and switch with Evan Peters, the show kept fans on their toes. Even one of the behind-the-scenes features had fans crafting theories after a picture of longtime Avenger and one-time love interest of Wanda Maximoff, Simon Williams, appeared on screen. According to an interview with Entertainment Tonight, showrunner Jac Schaeffer, however, that Wonder Man tease wasn’t really supposed to be a tease.

WandaVision: Did a Featurette Just Spoil Wonder Man's Debut?

I will say emphatically that that was not a red herring inside of a featurette. Not that I know of. Marvel might’ve done you all with dirty with that. [Laughs] But I was not doing that on purpose. That writer’s room was papered from floor to ceiling with just about everything, and so that was just one of the many things that made it up on the wall.

After being unceremoniously dismissed as pretty much the worst Avenger by director Joss Whedon, it seemed that the character might finally find life in WandaVision. However, it seems that Williams once again never made it past the brainstorming stage of the creative process for the project, leaving him sidelined again and leaving fans to wonder if Wonder Man will ever crack the lineup.

  • Rumor: ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ Working Title Revealed

Rumor: ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ Working Title Revealed

If you’ve been missing Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang as much as I have, then you probably are eagerly awaiting Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Given that crazy sounding main title, and a freshly rumored working title like Goat Rodeo, Scott and Hope will certainly have their hands full.

Derek Cornell of the DisInsider dropped that Goat Rodeo was the working title on his Twitter today.

Why is this significant? Goat Rodeo is a slang term for a huge fiasco, or a trainwreck of a situation. So it’s highly unlikely we’ll have cute little baby goats in colorful knitted sweaters bounding around the MCU, wreaking all too adorable havok. However whatever Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror gets up to in the third Ant-Man film will most certainly be a massive and probably chaotic challenge for our tiny but mighty MCU heroes to try to overcome.
