  • Jonathan Majors is Here To Conquer The MCU

Jonathan Majors is Here To Conquer The MCU

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been no stranger to great expectations. As we’ve gone through each phase the hype has grown to an impossible level to measure. From YouTube Easter eggs to fan theories and fan casts there’s been a bit of disappointment. Whether it’s warranted or not we have arrived at an interesting point as MCU fans. Phase 5 begins with Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania and there’s a high level of anticipation. Sure, it’s great to see Scott, Hope, Cassie, and the rest of the crew. However, we know why we’re really here and his name is Kang.

Kang The Conqueror is synonymous with greatness. He is one of the greatest villains of all time, and one of the more fascinating characters in comic book lore. He’s time-bending; he’s mind-bending; he’s a threat unlike any other in Marvel. When time travel was introduced in Avengers: Endgame, the thought for many fans who are studious to this is that Kang could not be far behind. Lo and behold, he is here. Now take this into consideration, when you are casting for this role you need a heavy hitter. You need the best, the absolute best. Enter Jonathan Majors.

At the end of Loki Season 1, at the end of time, both Loki and Sylvie were introduced to He Who Remains, a variant of Kang, who had been pulling all the strings. Before his death at the hands of Sylvie, He Who Remains shared some weighty thoughts. “You may hate the dictator, but something… far worse is gonna fill that void if you dispose of him. I’ve lived a million lifetimes. I’ve gone through every scenario. This is the only way.” These are words we hung on and were captivated by. The delivery, the playfulness, and the all-knowing fatigue of that power was mystifying. We’ve seen great performances in the MCU, wrought with great emotion and full of surprises. This was the most electrifying performance we’ve seen to date in the franchise.

There’s a level of expectation to deliver that Majors superseded. The bar has been raised. This wasn’t even the actual character that he was playing. Just a version. One, singular version. Kevin Feige and Co. have made a decision to build this saga around this gentleman and it will pay off in spades. We are not prepared for what we are about to see. You just have to sit back and enjoy it. If you want variants you’re getting them. If you want a compelling character you’re getting that tenfold. You’re probably saying to yourself that this is overhype, this is hyperbole. It’s not. In fact it’s underselling the point.

To make a bit of a comparison, there’s a conversation when it comes to Denzel Washington as an all-time great that in his movies he’s always Denzel. It’s an endearing quality that we love to mention. Jonathan Majors disappears into his roles. Like a chameleon, you only know the character and the person is replaced. There’s a specific scene in The Last Black Man In San Francisco that explains what can’t be explained here. If you get a chance watch that movie, and if you have relive this scene.

When you watch this scene you understand the talent and why he was chosen to anchor Phase 5 of the MCU. In an interview with Empire magazine, Majors discussed playing the villain and what that entails. “Kang adds tonal diversity, real conflict and real friction,” he promises. “You’re being introduced to a new vibration in the MCU. There’s conflict – not just mano-a-mano, not just hero and villain, but your way of life’ and ‘my way of life’. I’m coming for it. We’re in battle here.” That sounds like someone ready to wear the crown.

Usually, with a villain, we have a foreboding sense of fear of what might happen. As fans, you can feel the level of excitement when Kang is mentioned, theorized about and discussed. We just know we’re getting something special, and this is why we go to the movies.

It is extremely rare to feel ready to sit back and watch greatness. There won’t be a worry and there won’t be a thought about whether Quauntumania has a bad post-credit scene or was too long or too short. There will be a moment when the MCU once again raises expectations for us and then they are met because they chose the right man to lead the way. You’re out of your league, Ant-Man. It’s just another reminder that Jonathan Majors is here to conquer, for all time.

  • ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Adds Tony Award Winner Nikki M. James

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Adds Tony Award Winner Nikki M. James

Production on Daredevil: Born Again is set to kick off in February and as the cast begins arriving in New York City, another member has joined the mix. According to Deadline, Book of Mormon’s Nikki M. James has boarded the project in an unknown role.

Though James’ role is unknown, Marvel Studios has been searching for a Black actress, 40-49, to play a “loyal” but potentially “ruthless” character whose success is described as “self-made.” In 2011, James won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her role as Nabulungi in Broadway’s The Book of Mormon. She recently appeared in four episodes of Apple TV’s Severance after roles in The Good Wife and BrainDead.

Daredevil: Born Again was unveiled at SDCC ’22 as an 18-episode event starring Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio. It was originally slated to debut on Disney Plus in the Fall of 2024.

  • Channing Tatum Still Calls Marvel Studios to Make ‘Gambit’

Channing Tatum Still Calls Marvel Studios to Make ‘Gambit’

There were quite a few projects that ended up on the cutting groom floor due to the Fox merger with Disney. While there’s always the shame about losing out on what could’ve been, there are also some projects that already seemed a bit doomed from the get-go. New Mutants managed to survive the ordeal and there was also a Channing Tatum-led project that was just about to get the camera rolling when the merger happened.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Tatum got a chance to reflect on the project that never got a chance to get made, and he believes that they didn’t like “the tone of the movie” at the time. Not just that but he also holds hope they might want to make it after all.

It got swallowed up into Disney by way of Marvel when they bought Fox…and ultimately I just think that the tone of the movie we wanted to make was very far from what they wanted to do—or, you know, maybe they’re waiting to see how they do it with us or without us.

    Channing Tatum

He also highlights that while he’s trying to “spiritually, emotionally” let go of the project, he and his team still call Marvel Studios “every once in a while” to potentially get the project going.

We call every once in a while, but we’ve got to spiritually, emotionally, kind of mentally let it go.

    Channing Tatum

It seems very unlikely that Tatum will get the chance to bring this project to life, but there would be some fun in having him at least play the role in an upcoming multiverse storyline. Mutants aren’t likely to have a major franchise in the Multiverse Saga outside of Deadpool 3, but there’s a good chance they could give him a cameo in that film or even in Avengers: Secret Wars later down the line.

  • ‘Attack on Titan’s Final Season Gets a Release Date

‘Attack on Titan’s Final Season Gets a Release Date

Mark your calendars, as the highly anticipated third part of Attack on Titan‘s final season is set to air on March 3rd in Japan. As it’s a simulcast it’ll be available in the States on March 4th. It’ll be a part of this year’s Spring lineup of new anime releases, but MAPPA has revealed it’ll release in two parts with the second half released later in 2023. The mention of a “special broadcast” may hint that this isn’t multiple episodes but rather a special.

We’re pleased to announce the release date of Attack on Titan: The Final Season. Our initial goal was to broadcast the entire Final Season on March 3rd 2023. However, in the production process, the workload became must larger than expected. After consulting with the production committee, we’ve decided to release the Final Season in two parts

    Studio MAPPA

Although there might be some theories that the studio divided the season into two parts because they want to potentially “milk” the franchise, this is not a first for MAPPA. This situation happened before when they took hold of the series after its third season, because of the magazine’s problems with Wit Studio. Sadly, this is another case of history repeating itself, as MAPPA might have bitten off more than it can chew once again.

Attack On Titan was quite the hit when it was first released worldwide and there’s a lot of excitement to see how they will wrap up the series. Yet, the series has also lost its momentum having to stretch out the last few seasons, especially after a long hiatus before continuing after its initial success. Still, there’s excitement

  • Meryl Streep Joins ‘Only Murders in the Building’ Season 3

Meryl Streep Joins ‘Only Murders in the Building’ Season 3

Only Murders in the Building has become one of Hulu’s newest hits and has slowly started to grow its already impressive cast throughout the last few seasons. The series is led by Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez in the leading roles. Yet, the series made a big splash when Ant-Man himself, Paul Rudd, joined for the series’ third season. Selena Gomez jokingly shared a video on TikTok to highlight the cast on set including Rudd joining in for the fun. Yet, there was one major new addition that might have everyone quite excited.

At the end of the video, the one and only Meryl Streep appears and jokes around with the others from the Hulu Original. While it’s not said outright, her addition being highlighted by the official Twitter account and her being there on set confirms that Streep will have a role of some kind in the next season.

It’s definitely a clever way to reveal her involvement, especially with the popularity of the series with younger audiences. Generation Z is the main focus on TikTok and it seems quite fitting that they’re using this cheeky way to get some fans hyped up for the legacy actress joining the franchise. Only Murders in the Building features a fun concept that allows almost any actor or actress join, and it’ll be exciting to see who Streep might end up playing. Guess we’ll have to wait a bit until we find out.

  • New Leak Reveals Battle Pass for Rocksteady’s ‘Suicide Squad’

New Leak Reveals Battle Pass for Rocksteady’s ‘Suicide Squad’

Marvel’s Avengers has left a bitter taste with players, as its release was quite messy and there were some concerns about the general trend of superhero properties exploring Games-as-a-Service offerings. Even Gotham Knights seemed to struggle with its multiplayer focus and the attempt at expanding the franchise with its long-term multiplayer offerings. Now, the next superhero release from Rocksteady is seemingly heading down a similar rocky road.

An image leaked for the upcoming game Suicide Squad Kills the Justice League has revealed a rather curious aspect of the game. The image shared by @Mr_Rebs that was seemingly making the rounds on 4Chan reveals that the game will have a Battle Pass. It’s also our first look at a very simple UI structure for a game promising a colorful exploration of the DC Universe.

For those that might not be too familiar with the concept, it’s a type of functionality that recently created a controversy surrounding the release of Overwatch 2. Instead of letting players use the in-universe currency to unlock skins, you have to pay to have access to a list that only unlocks depending on how well you play.

There’s no word if this game was meant to be a GaaS game, as the wording has been avoided quite a bit. But the inclusion of a Game Pass opens that discussion once again, especially if this means we’ll get more content or characters in the future. There is a “Game Mode” inclusion which hints at some multiplayer offerings but there’s still so little we know about the project. The leaked image has been confirmed and we’re left with a few questions until an official statement follows from Rocksteady.

  • RUMOR: Netflix’s Live-Action ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Eyeing a Summer Release

RUMOR: Netflix’s Live-Action ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Eyeing a Summer Release

Rumors are a staple of the entertainment industry, especially in the variety of how much or even how little can make the rounds in regard to future releases. Marvel and DC have commonly become the main focus for many rumors due to just how much is involved with these massive and ambitious projects, but it seems that a new project has potentially become the focus of a new rumor.

Netflix has been hoping to establish its new Stranger Things with a variety of projects. Wednesday may have already helped fill the void alongside all the cancelations of projects that could’ve grown to that status. Still, they’ve put a lot of money into bringing two iconic franchises to live-action, One Piece, and Avatar: The Last Airbender. Surprisingly, the latter started production long before the manga adaptation, yet we’ve seen nothing so far.

While we’re still waiting for any sign of life on the project, leaker @MyTimeToShineH has taken to Twitter and shared a rather curious bit of information. They have hinted that the series is eyeing a summer release on Netflix. Of course, there’s no actual release date and who knows how far along the series is that it can hit that time window.

There’s also the question of what that might mean for One Piece, as they’d release two of their biggest projects init he same year. They’ll likely want to space them out to avoid any overlap so that they can dominate viewership for as long as possible. If that series was able to showcase some set photos earlier and also relies on a few less special effects work due to no elemental bending being involved, perhaps that series will see an earlier release.

It’s still a rumor for now, but it’s at least something and gives us a potential time window to keep an eye out for. Avatar: The Last Airbender is an ambitious adaptation, especially with the reputation the initial adaptation had from M. Night Shyamalan. Plus, the lack of any promotion does leave some questions on if we’ll see another one-month promotion for a series they hope to take the world by storm. If we get a trailer or tease in the next few months, the summer release seems more realistic.

  • First Look at ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ 30th Anniversary Special

First Look at ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ 30th Anniversary Special

It’s crazy to think that the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers were released 30 years ago. The franchise has been a chlidhood memory many cherish. Recently, the franchise has seen a big boom in popularity once again, especially with the Boom! Studios comic series. They have revisited some familiar characters from the original franchise while also introducing a really interesting multiversal twist on what makes a Power Rangers storyline.

Netflix has been hard at work on its own cinematic universe inspired by the original series, but it seems they also have something quite special in mind. As revealed on Twitter, Netflix will premiere a 30th-anniversary special on April 19th titled Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always. It’ll see the return of some of the show’s original stars including Barbara Goodson, who voiced Rita Repulsa, David Yost, Walter E. Jones, and who knows who else might appear.

That is not all, as the official Power Rangers account, which shared its own unique anniversary logo, also offered a trailer teasing the new anniversary and some new footage they’ve filmed.

Who knows if they have more planned for this year, and perhaps we’ll finally get some news on the Netflix series that’ll be showrun by Jenny Klein. Dino Fury even broke the two-season tradition for the anniversary, as it returns for an additional season before whatever the future has in store for the franchise. Here’s looking forward to what else might be on its way. Still, there’s also that feeling of sadness after the tragic passing of Jason David Frank, but his spirit lives on with the franchise.

  • RUMOR: Marvel Studios’ ‘Ghost Rider’ May Release This Year

RUMOR: Marvel Studios’ ‘Ghost Rider’ May Release This Year

There are many characters that people want to see join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We’ve already had a smorgasbord of new additions throughout the last few years, especially in the ambitious Multiverse Saga. Yet, that hasn’t stopped other rumors making the rounds on who else might have their future. Werewolf by Night, especially, introduced a more horror-centric corner of the MCU opening up many more potentially getting their own chance at a similar adaptation through a Special Presentation.

Given the horror theme, the most popular choice was Ghost Rider, who has long been rumored to potentially appear in his own project. No matter which version they may adapt, there’s been quite a few rumors making the rounds that they may be developing a project. Gabriel Luna, who previously played the character in the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. series also was quite excited to potentially return to the role given his Hulu spinoff series was canceled.

Now, a new rumor is making the rounds from Geeks Worldwide’s KC Walsh about the long-rumored project. While he does not have any details on what exactly we can expect from it, he does point to the fact that it’s currently set to release this year in 2023. If they stick to a similar production schedule like Werewolf by Night, they would have to start production in the coming months but it would be possible if they are aiming for a Halloween special. If that is true, we might get more rumors soon, and likely have to wait a bit before we find out more.
