Apple TV+ and Legendary Television’s untitled Godzilla series is adding to its cast. According to Deadline, Pachinko star Mari Yamamoto has joined the cast of the monster series, tentatively titled Hourglass. The series is set in the aftermath of the battle between Godzilla and the Titans in San Francisco. It follows a family’s journey to uncover its buried secrets that link them to the secret organization, Monarch. It will also directly connect to Legendary’s Monsterverse.

While details on her role are under wraps, Yamamoto joins a cast that already includes Anna Sawai (F9: The Fast Saga), Ren Watabe (461 Days of Bento), Kiersey Clemons (Transparent, Zack Snyder’s Justice League), Joe Tippett (Mare of Easttown), and Elisa Lasowski (Versailles). • New ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Leak Offers First Look at ‘Captain America: Winter Soldier’s Stealth Suit

New ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Leak Offers First Look at ‘Captain America: Winter Soldier’s Stealth Suit

It looks like a few skins have found their way online again for Marvel’s Avengers. The game has been taking a few more steps forward, as they just revealed Winter Soldier is making his way into the game alongside the long-awaited Cloning Labs in an update later this year. With the latest update, it seems that leaker @mmmmmmmmiller has gotten his hands on the first look at some upcoming skins including one from Captain America: Winter Soldier.

Fans have long hoped to see the iconic suit make its way into the game, as it was one of his most popular designs at the time of the film’s release. Like with most Marvel Cinematic Universe suits, it does seem like they went into a lot of detail to bring it to life in the game, and will surely be a popular choice for many that main Captain America.

It’ll be interesting how many more MCU suits they have already cooking. Just recently they revealed one based on Jane Foster’s costume from Thor: Love and Thunder. With Winter Soldier’s upcoming arrival they’ll also have quite a few new designs they can add with his extensive history throughout the MCU. So, it seems they won’t be running out of any options for new skins anytime soon.

  • ‘Grease’ Returning to Theaters to Benefit Charity

‘Grease’ Returning to Theaters to Benefit Charity

Following the unfortunate passing of Olivia Newton-John, AMC Theaters is bringing Grease back to the big screen for a limited time. The classic 1978 musical is returning to 175 theaters stateside as of tomorrow with tickets set to cost fans $5. A dollar from each ticket sold will be AMC’s charitable fund AMC Cares, with the proceeds going to breast cancer research.

“To honor the late Olivia Newton-John: many of our U.S. theatres this weekend will show her classic 1978 hit movie Grease, again on the big screen,” AMC CEO Adam Aron said. “An inexpensive $5 admission price, and through our charity AMC Cares we will donate $1 per sold ticket to breast cancer research.”

Grease, which was to get a spinoff at HBO Max titled Rise of the Pink Ladies, is one of the most iconic musicals to date. Newton-John starred as Sandy, a high school student who falls for John Travolta‘s Danny Zuko over the summer, only to find he’s not the guy she thought him to be. The film was originally released in 1978 and proved to be an instant box office success after opening to $8.9 million and finishing its run with $132.4 million. It went on to become the highest-grossing movie of the year and spawned countless hits off of its soundtrack, including “You’re the One That I Want” and “Summer Nights,” as well as “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” which was nominated for an Oscar.

Newton-John passed away on Aug. 8th at the age of 73. While her cause of death has not yet been revealed, the actress has publicly battled breast cancer since 1992. After going into remission twice, the cancer, unfortunately, returned for a third time in 2017.

  • ‘She-Hulk’ Head Writer Reveals How Daredevil’s New Suit Was Decided

‘She-Hulk’ Head Writer Reveals How Daredevil’s New Suit Was Decided

In an interview with Lifehacker, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law‘s head writer Jessica Gao got a chance to share her excitement about bringing Daredevil back into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While Charlie Cox had a brief appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, he’ll finally don his iconic suit in the upcoming Disney+ series. As it turns out, however, she shares that she had a lot of freedom in how to include the character with one exception.

Usually how they do it is they kind of let us propose what we want to do rather than give us guidelines. When they first told us that [Daredevil] was a possibility we just couldn’t believe it. And as we were coming up with story and what we wanted him to do, the fact that they kept not saying no was shocking to us.

    Jessica Gao

She goes on to highlight though that there was one thing she had no control over and that was the way he was going to look in the series. The trailers revealed he had his Netflix red suit but with a new touch of yellow that pays tribute to his original design. It seems that was Marvel Studios’ idea.

The one thing that I didn’t have control of was the suit. They knew exactly what they wanted the suit to look like.

    Jessica Gao

Most of Marvel Studios’ team are comic nerds and it does seem like the chance of introducing the character in a more comedic light was the perfect way to also bring in some of the goofier aspects of his character. We’ll likely see his classic colors return in the near future, but it is great that they are combining these two worlds. Here’s hoping the wait for our first full look at him in action isn’t too far away. Now we only need to see the D on his chest.

  • Netflix’s ‘One Piece’s is Slowly Wrapping Up Production

Netflix’s ‘One Piece’s is Slowly Wrapping Up Production

It looks like One Piece may be slowly winding down production in South Africa, or rather Cape Town to be exact. As shared by Caitlin Rollino on her Instagram account, she reveals that the main unit has seemingly wrapped on the One Piece live-action series. There hasn’t been an official statement in regards to the project having fully wrapped up, but it definitely seems like production is slowly nearing its end.

It’s crazy to think that we’ve been following it since January when the production first started getting rolling. Seven months later, it has seemingly entered its final stages and hopefully further hints when we might expect its release. Director Marc Jobst seemingly hinted that the first two episodes wrapped production in May. The series has been teased to be among Netflix’s largest, especially with the news that this live-action adaptation may have a budget on par with other Marvel Studios productions.

With a talented team behind it, there’s an exciting potential with this adaptation. The cast is quite excited to bring this project to life, the showrunners are big fans of the source material and the sets promise that it’s truly the original brought to life. The mangaka behind the series, Eiichiro Oda, also is heavily involved and it does add a stamp of approval that some other projects might not have. Anime adaptations are a difficult challenge but we said the same about superheroes not too long ago. Perhaps this series is the perfect choice to accomplish that very goal.

  • ‘Warrior’ Actor Joins Live-Action ‘One Piece’

‘Warrior’ Actor Joins Live-Action ‘One Piece’

It looks like the various roles are getting filled for the upcoming live-action adaptation of One Piece. While we’re still waiting for the next official reveal by the team behind the franchise, it does seem like actor Grant Ross, known for his work on Warrior, American Monster and The Kissing Booth has joined the production as Genzo.

For those that might not know, Genzo is an important character in the Arlong Park Arc. While not a major role in the One Piece mythos, he plays a vital role in Nami’s upbringing and it’s great to see their casting be as close as possible to the original manga. He famously wore a windmill in his cap which would be fun to see in live-action. Ross was excited about the announcement and shared some great-looking fan art on how similar he looks to his manga counterpart.

The interesting reveal is that he seemingly has a role in an episode directed by Emma Sullivan. The surprise is that she was confirmed to direct the episodes he’s in. While there’s a chance that the Arlong Park Arc could be a multi-episode storyline, she was confirmed to be tackling the storyline of the Baratie. Many theorized that might’ve taken up multiple episodes as well.

So, it opens up the question if Baratie is only one episode or if the Doctor Who director is also responsible for every episode involving these two storylines. Genzo is only in that one storyline but there’s a chance he only included the director that was publicly known. Of course, we won’t know for sure until it is officially revealed.

  • ‘She-Hulk’s Place in the MCU Timeline Revealed

‘She-Hulk’s Place in the MCU Timeline Revealed

There’s a fun new tradition with every new Marvel Cinematic Universe release on Disney+. Not only do we get a brand new series to enjoy, or even a way to watch the latest film but it also gives us a little look into where or rather when it takes place in the MCU timeline. While these shows can crossover in some ways, it is great to get a feeling for when exactly it takes place. With She-Hulk: Attorney at Law‘s release, we got our latest update.

As it turns out, the series is right between the last two Disney+ series, Moon Knight and Ms. Marvel. It’s quite interesting as most of the latest projects take place at the end of the timeline. As of now, Ms. Marvel is the latest in the timeline but Thor: Love and Thunder might potentially take that spot. While it continues Avengers: Endgame, it does seemingly take quite a bit of time afterward, as Thor got back in shape and spent some time with the Guardians.

She-Hulk is going to be a different kind of project, as it’ll connect more directly to the overarching characters of the franchise. It’ll also see the return of Charlie Cox‘s Daredevil and could potentially answer what he’s been up to. The Daredevil franchise I still not included in the MCU timeline which further hints it is part of its own universe within the multiverse. Perhaps they are also just waiting for his return to reveal it. We’ll have to see.

  • Winter Soldier and Cloning Labs Heading to ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Later This Year

Winter Soldier and Cloning Labs Heading to ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Later This Year

After quite a wait for a new hero, it seems like we’re seeing a lot more updates from Marvel’s Avengers. Not only did we get Jane Foster’s thor as a recent addition to the game, but now the announcement has come that Winter Soldier is also going to become a playable character later this year. They have not given us an exact release, but there are some exciting things heading our way in the upcoming months.

The update 2.7. will not just include Bucky Barnes but also will see the return of MODOK in the Cloning Labs mission. It was first teased all the way back when the game was about to launch but is finally making its grand arrival in the game. It seems these missions alongside a new one featuring Monica that’ll be part of the September 2.6 release heading our way in September.

There’s no definite release window for the Winter Soldier update, but it does seem that he’ll arrive before the year ends. No word on how he’ll play exactly but he won’t be an echo character like Jane Foster was. They also highlighted that the new streaming offerings from Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation’s new Plus model gave them quite the boost in new players. So, we might be able to expect a lot more from the game moving forward.

  • Owen Wilson Says Marvel Scolded Him For Talking About ‘Loki’

Owen Wilson Says Marvel Scolded Him For Talking About ‘Loki’

Marvel Studios is famously secretive about their upcoming projects, and it would seem Loki star Owen Wilson learned this the hard way. The veteran actor has grown to become a fan favorite member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as jet ski loving TVA Agent Mobius M. Mobius. Wilson will be back for the show’s second season, which is currently filming in London, but stated in a recent interview with ComicBook that he’s keeping his lips sealed on his character’s future.

Asked to give more information on Loki and Mobius, the former Royal Tennenbaums star revealed he made the mistake of saying too much in the past, and heard about it from Marvel themselves. The actor began with a brief, timid response to the question of what fans should expect in Loki Season 2:

Well, I do think that… you know, we’ll see what happens with this one. I immediately get kind of self-conscious because they’re so kind of uptight.

    Owen Wilson

Wilson is, of course, referring to Marvel’s long history of shushing performers who are eager to give away details on their upcoming work. When pressed on whether or not he’s been scolded by the company in the past, Wilson gave an earnest and succinct answer:

    Yes. Yeah, multiple times.

    Owen Wilson

It seems nobody is safe from Marvel’s content lockdown. The actor has had fun with the strict set of rules in the past, however, once joking that Marvel boss Kevin Feige sent him an anonymous, threatening text after he let slip that Mobius would have a mustache in Loki’s first season. Hopefully, Wilson makes it to the premiere of the next season, and fans can be happy with all the surprises the show’s creative team has in store.

  • Jesse Eisenberg Would be Shocked if He’s Brought Back as Lex Luthor

Jesse Eisenberg Would be Shocked if He’s Brought Back as Lex Luthor

With Warner Bros. Discovery looking to revamp its slate, fans can expect plenty of changes to occur in the coming months. We’ve already seen multiple changes to the studio’s DC slate, from the cancellation of Batgirl to the Joker 2 officially receiving a release date, and yet there’s still plenty that remains unknown. Recent reports have suggested outside of Joker: Folie à Deux, no other DC film has received the green light, even the previously announced sequel to the critically acclaimed The Batman. So, it shouldn’t be too surprising then that the actors previously involved within the DC Extended Universe are unclear as to whether they’ll return. One actor unsure of his future within the DC Universe is Jesse Eisenberg.

During a recent appearance at the 28th Sarajevo Film Festival to promote his directorial debut, When You Finish Saving the World, Eisenberg was asked about a possible return to the DC world. In his response, Eisenberg noted that while he wasn’t a comic book fan, he enjoyed playing Lex Luthor. Should he be given the chance to do so again, Eisenberg would gladly do so, but he’s not holding his breath.

“I’d be shocked if I wound up in a DC movie, but it would be a pleasant shock. Listen, I’m not a comic book fan. To me, it was not playing a role that I’d envisioned since childhood. To me, it was a chance to play this great character that this great writer wrote, and I loved doing that. So, to play it is a joy, and to not play it isn’t something that I’m going to be ashamed to tell my kids about, because that is not an important genre in my life, even though I loved doing that movie.”

    Jesse Eisenberg

While it might not be an important genre in his life, the actor is still willing to partake in another superhero film, whether it be DC or Marvel. As he explained, just because superhero films are “commercial films,” it doesn’t mean they don’t often come with great roles. “Because as an actor, you do all kinds of different things, and sometimes great roles show up in really commercial things and sometimes terrible roles show up in independent films.”

Eisenberg’s directorial debut, When You Finish Saving the World, hit theaters earlier this year. Up next for him is A Real Pain, which he’ll direct and co-star in alongside Kieran Culkin.
