‘Mario Strikers’ Finally Returns with New Nintendo Switch Entry titled ‘Battle League’

At this point, the Nintendo Switch has become the home for almost every Nintendo classic at this point. Metroid made its grand return after a long bit of silence. Fire Emblem got one of its best entries to date. Even cult classics like Advance Wars are finding their way to the console. Nintendo wasn’t quite done with that as they also unveiled a long-awaited sequel to Mario Strikers with the subtitle Battle League. You can check the first trailer here:

The gameplay looks promising as most of the mayhem is still at play in the game. Plus, the gear system looks like a promising addition for those that want to try out new things to create their favorite team. Also, someone really had too much fun tackling poor Luigi into that electric fence.

  • New ‘Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp’ Trailer Confirms April Release

New ‘Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp’ Trailer Confirms April Release

Finally, after a long bout of silence, the upcoming remake of the classic Gameboy Advance series Advance Wars got an update in the latest Nintendo Direct. Advance Wars 1 + 2 Reboot Camp revealed that every commanding officer has received full voice work, and even teased how the game will handle the inclusion of both games.

The addition of fast-forwarding gameplay and even resetting turns is an amazing addition for players that may struggle in later levels. Custom Maps also make a return thankfully and the addition of Online multiplayer might be one of the best additions to just add that replayability once you finish the campaign. The game will release on April 8th and it’ll be exciting to get our hands on this Nintendo classic.

  • BREAKING: Saul Zaentz Co. Looking for a Buyer of ‘Lord of the Rings’ and ‘The Hobbit’s Film and Gaming Rights

BREAKING: Saul Zaentz Co. Looking for a Buyer of ‘Lord of the Rings’ and ‘The Hobbit’s Film and Gaming Rights

Well, Hollywood is going to turn into a bidding war for the rights of Middle Earth, as Saul Zaentz Co. has decided to sell their Tolkien holdings. As such, it means the movie, merchandising, gaming and live events rights to his properties will go on sale. ACF Investment Bank is currently handling the sale with an estimated $2 billion as its current predicted value. The timing of course comes hot off the heels as Amazon started promoting their upcoming original series Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Amazon currently leading the pack on purchasing the rights, which is fitting given their current work.

It’s quite the sell if any of the major names currently can get their hands on it. Netflix has been hunting franchise after franchise to create their own extended IP library. So, one of the most iconic fantasy franchises will definitely be on their radar yet given the close relationship, Amazon seems like the likeliest buyer.

If you’re wondering why Warner Bros. isn’t involved, the rights returned to Zaentz Co. last year, as the rights ran out for not producing any projects involving the Tolkien books. It seems that the overall interest in developing more projects had sold the company on selling the rights, especially as Amazon made a deal directly with the Tolkien estate for their series.

  • ‘The Book of Boba Fett’s Krrsantan and Fennec Shand to Join ‘Fortnite’

‘The Book of Boba Fett’s Krrsantan and Fennec Shand to Join ‘Fortnite’

Here’s a pleasant surprise ahead of The Book of Boba Fett‘s finale, as it looks like that besides the titular former bounty hunter, we’ll also get Fortnite skins for Fennec Shand and the show’s new addition in the form of Krrsantan. You can check out the first look as shared early by @iFireMonkey:

They also shared the new image that is being used to promote the two character’s additions with Boba Fett lurking in the background. It seems that they don’t have a loading screen currently, but could end up getting added later on.

That’s not all, as it seems that Ming-Na Wen’s Fennec Shand gets her own teaser trailer with a small cameo from The Mandalorian and his iconic line “This is the way!”.

The designs look great and fans of the Disney+ series will definitely check out the additions. It’s crazy to think how big Shand’s role was since her minor appearance in the first season of The Mandalorian, but it just shows how any character can grow if given enough time. Krrsantan is also a great addition, especially with him finally making his way into live-action after being introduced through comics. We’ll see who else might get added in the near future.

  • ‘Marvel’s Avengers: ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ Black Widow Skin Leaked Early

‘Marvel’s Avengers: ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ Black Widow Skin Leaked Early

It looks like a new skin for an upcoming shipment may have accidentally leaked early, as a recent update of Marvel’s Avengers has led to the reveal that the next shipment will include Avengers: Age of Ultron-inspired design for Black Widow. Currently, Iron Man 3‘s iconic golden armor was made available as part of the next shipments but it seems the update added the next unlockable design for when the next iteration of shipments kicks off, which is the game’s offering to earn cosmetics through grinding various missions.

User @LewisXI19 shared a good look at the costume that seems mostly true to the films with a very bright red hair. This isn’t the first time that skin like this managed to leak online, as there was a similar case with Hawkeye’s Captain America: Civil War skin, as pointed out by the user this isn’t the first time. The design looks great and the Age of Ultron costume added a lot of neon elements to her costume, which still stands out to this day as she usually focused on primary black, undercover designs.

We’re still anxiously awaiting any news on what the future has in store for the game. They’ve confirmed they are working on new updates, but it’s uncertain just what we can expect not only from the roadmap but from the year overall. They have mostly focused on teasing content for half a year rather than the full one. So, we shouldn’t expect to know what’ll release by December once the roadmap drops. Still, it’s fun to speculate and we’ll see what the future has in store.

  • New Art Book May Hint at ‘Hogwarts Legacy’ Release Date

New Art Book May Hint at ‘Hogwarts Legacy’ Release Date

There’s been a lot of debate if Warner Bros.’s open-world game, Hogwarts Legacy, would even manage its 2022 release window as news died down quickly on the project. Then, industry insider Tom Henderson hinted that the State of Play may arrive to confirm a summer release date for the game. While we’re still waiting for that rumored event – especially with the recent State of Play only focused on the next Gran Turismo release – there’s a chance that a book release offered some more hints at the game’s release.

As first noticed by The Rowling Library, Jody Revenson, who worked on other Wizarding World tie-in books, has tackled the art book for the upcoming Warner Bros. game titled The Art and Making of Hogwarts Legacy. What stands out is that the publication under the ISBN 9781647226190 was already given a release date. The book includes the release date of September 6th, which would potentially hint at the game also finding its way into stores around the same time. So, there’s a chance that it adds some validity to a potential summer release date.

Of course, nothing is final until we get an official statement but it’s a positive sign that we’ll get to see the release this year. The idea of being able to explore Hogwarts at your own leisure as a student sounds like a great time. We still know very little about the project, but it makes you wonder if we might see something similar to Rockstar’s Bully game. You have to explore the campus in-between lessons as you develop your abilities as a wizard. The potential is exciting and hopefully, it can deliver.

  • Rockstar Games Confirms Active Development on ‘Grand Theft Auto 6’

Rockstar Games Confirms Active Development on ‘Grand Theft Auto 6’

It’s weird to think that it took an announcement, to begin with, but Rockstar Games took to Twitter to confirm that they are already working on the next official entry in their popular Grand Theft Auto franchise. Their current version has been available since the Playstation 3 and has gone on to become a mainstay for many players, especially through the offering of Grand Theft Auto Online, which continued to add more content for players.

Rockstar Games took to Twitter to announce that the project is definitely underway and they aim to offer even more from what their latest release offered. So, it’ll be interesting to see how they want to make this new version stand out after we had three protagonists, especially as we had the ability to switch between them at any time.

The first real hint we got at production came back in October when Snoop Dogg revealed that Dr. Dre was involved with the project. With the controversy surrounding the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy: Definite Edition, there might be some hesitancy on Rockstar potentially overpromising. Yet, their mainline entries have been in development for quite some time and the first trailer might offer a better look at what their vision of “better” truly entails.

  • Rocksteady’s ‘Suicide Squad’ Game Won’t Release Until 2023

Rocksteady’s ‘Suicide Squad’ Game Won’t Release Until 2023

The wait for Rocksteady’s next game will take a bit longer, as Bloomberg has revealed that Suicide Squad Kills the Justice League has been pushed back until 2023. There is still no set release date, as it was initially announced to release in 2022 alongside the other DC-based game, Gotham Knights. It’s unsure if they decided to push it back due to both games having close ties to Batman, or if it’s a production decision.

The game was originally announced back in 2020 during their DC FanDome event. It’ll focus on a smaller team that comprises the titular Suicide Squad, as you can play either Captain Boomerang, King Shark, Deadshot, or the ever-present Harley Quinn. Unlike Gotham Knights, this game seemingly focuses more on gunplay and mechanics similar to Insomniac’s Sunset Overdrive.

It’s a shame the wait is going to be longer once again, as we still know very little about the game. 2021’s DC FanDome offered our first real look at gameplay, but it was only in short snippets. Rocksteady continues to focus primarily on the story, but it supposedly will act as a Games-as-a-Service model once it releases. Here’s hoping we still get some updates throughout the year as we continue to wait for its release.

  • Sony Purchased ‘Destiny’ Developer Bungie in $3.6B Deal

Sony Purchased ‘Destiny’ Developer Bungie in $3.6B Deal

Sony, the company behind the gaming console PlayStation, is set to acquire Bungie in a landmark $3.6 billion deal. The story was first broke by Bloomberg’s Jason Schrier, it appears the gaming giant is looking to expand PlayStation studios by adding the original Halo devs to their portfolio. With this deal, PlayStation is also set to acquire the rights to Destiny as well as any other original projects Bungie is working on, including the rumored PVP game that was hinted at in the past.

    https://twitter.com/jasonschreier/status/1488211489672605697

It has officially been shared by the Head of PlayStation Studios, Hermen Hulst, shortly after:

An Official blog post from Sony and Bungie has been released, including details about Bungie staying multi-platform and an independent publisher. Also included are reactions from the heads of both companies. Bungie and PlayStation have promised that Bungie will remain an independent developer and publisher, likely in a move to keep Destiny as a multi-platform game akin to Sony Online Entertainment’s status back when they were still owned by Sony.

However, there is no word if this is only for Destiny, or if Bungie’s other in-development IP will be included in this approach. I’d be surprised to see all Bungie games across all platforms, especially with Microsoft only promising Call of Duty on PlayStation for the next three years. With both FireSprite Games and Bungie working on competitive PVP first-person shooters, it certainly seems like PlayStation is gearing up to compete with Microsoft’s Call of Duty and Halo franchises.

  • ‘It Takes Two’ To Be Adapted For Film and TV

‘It Takes Two’ To Be Adapted For Film and TV

As bad as a year in gaming may seem, there’s never a shortage of truly fun games annually. Last year, in particular, saw an original co-op game titled It Takes Two go head to head with the biggest franchises in numerous award shows. It Takes Two took the highly coveted Game of the Year award in the titular Game Awards, solidifying the notion that original, innovative games still matter in an industry full of battle royales and shooters.

With that in mind, it doesn’t come as a surprise to learn that It Takes Two will be adapted for film and television by developers Hazelight Studios and production company Dj2 Entertainment. The project will be written by Sonic the Hedgehog scribes Pat Casey and Josh Miller. In a press release, the team stated:

dj2 is honored to partner with Josef, Oskar [Wolontis], and the incredible team at Hazelight Studios on the linear media adaptation of ‘It Takes Two.’ Just like the rest of the gaming world, we fell head-over-heels in love with Cody, May, Rose, Dr. Hakim and the imaginative fantasy universe Hazelight have created, and can’t wait to bring these characters -and this world- to life on the big and small screen.

For the uninitiated, the plot of It Takes Two follows a couple on the brink of a divorce, who one day are magically transformed into living dolls and trapped in a zany miniature world they must get out of. The gameplay requires two players to solve highly unique puzzles that need both players to work in sync.

There are no film and TV studios currently attached to the project but it’s been said to be in the middle of a bidding war. It should be no time until a big studio gets their hand on this.
