  • ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Next-Gen Release Might Be Around the Corner

‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Next-Gen Release Might Be Around the Corner

We are only a week away from the new Marvel’s Avengers Deep Dive showcase. Crystal Dynamics will get a chance to highlight their next DLC character, Clint Barton. We’ve been anxiously expecting his reveal, especially after his protégé took over as the first new character. Luckily, they also confirmed that we will get our first showcase of the next-gen upgrade for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The only question that remains is when we can expect both updates after the reveal next Tuesday. Well, it seems that perhaps it is sooner rather than later. It seems that the trophies for the game’s PlayStation 5 version have already been made available, which hints at the release being potentially around the corner.

When this information is made available online, they seem to commonly hint at the game releasing a few weeks later. Yet, keep in mind this is not an official confirmation in any way. We will get the official release date once the next War Table video is released. The question is also if the plan is to release alongside their next DLC character. Hawkeye is getting a lot of attention with tweets on his comic history and a showcase of the new Wasteland biome by the developers. It would make sense to promote the next-generation update alongside their latest hero. Hawkeye was in high-demand that they even created a petition. Now, we are only a few days away from our first look at him in action and his different abilities. Here’s hoping the wait afterward isn’t too long and we get to try him out in all his glory.

  • RUMOR: HBO’s ‘The Last Of Us’ Eyeing Mahershala Ali for the Role of Joel

RUMOR: HBO’s ‘The Last Of Us’ Eyeing Mahershala Ali for the Role of Joel

We’ve been hotly anticipating any information on the upcoming live-action adaptation of The Last Of Us. HBO will adapt the acclaimed video game series into a series alongside its original creators. Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckman and his writing team will be working on the series with Chernobyl‘s Craig Mazin. Russian filmmaker Kantemir Balagov joined the production to direct the pilot in January, so we expected some casting rumors in the coming weeks. Originally, Johan Renck was going to direct it but had to drop out due to scheduling conflict. Just a month after they got their director, it seems they are already getting their casting together. Illuminerdi revealed that HBO offered the role of Joel to Mahershala Ali.

It looks like while the series will stick to the original game’s storyline, they are flexible when it comes to the casting. Ali is a powerhouse in the industry right now, so he would be a fantastic find for the franchise. His character will remain mostly the same, as he’ll face the same dramatic backstory from the original game. Joel’s morality has faded, but a sign of hope in the form of a 13-year-old Ellie, who is the key to solving the fungus-infected future.

Illumerndi also points out that they’ve offered the role to Matthew McConaughey, who turned it down. It’ll be interesting to see if he’ll accept the role, as he will join the upcoming MCU adaptation of Blade. There is a chance that the potential casting of Ellie is also in the works. This casting rumor might hint at the show potentially taking a unique direction to distinguish itself from the original game.

  • ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 2’ Release Date Announced Alongside New Logo

‘Sonic the Hedgehog 2’ Release Date Announced Alongside New Logo

Right before the pandemic hit, one of the last films to grace the silver screen was Sonic the Hedgehog. Sega’s first major Hollywood film told the origin story of a young blue hedgehog, as he met his arch-rival Jim Carrey‘s Dr. Robotinik and made some friends along the way. At the end of the film, it was revealed that a familiar face is joining his next adventure, as Miles ‘Tails’ Prower made his live-action debut. Just recently, there is also the rumor going around that Jason Momoa was offered the role of Knuckles the Echidna. Now, it like the film is getting ready to enter production, as the official Twitter account shared a small animation that reveals the film’s rather straight-forward title and the official release date of April 8th, 2022.

As a huge Sonic the Hedgehog fan, I am excited to see where they are heading with the upcoming film. It makes sense they would remain with the classic numbering system, as even the original trilogy followed that structure. I would’ve loved to see some subtitles like Adventure or Heroes. It would just add that little something. We still have no idea where the story is heading, as Dr. Robotnik remains stranded on a planet full of mushrooms. There is a chance that they might introduce a brand new villain, such as the Echidna tribe that got teased during the opening sequence of the last film. It’s also kind of perfect that Tails gets a larger role in the sequel, as he did in the original Sega Genesis game.

As this year will celebrate the blue blur’s 30th anniversary, we might get some more insight into the film’s story around June. Ironically, it is kind of perfect to reveal this in February, as Sonic’s first actual video game appearance was in the arcade game Rad Mobile. That means his actual 30th anniversary is in February, so Paramount chose a perfect time for this reveal. Now, if only they could announce the next game s well.

  • First Look at ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ New Wasteland Biome Released

First Look at ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ New Wasteland Biome Released

Marvel’s Avengers has been building up to their next character reveal. Hawkeye was the first DLC character to get, and we will finally get to see him in action on next week’s War Table Deep Dive. We already got a glimpse when he briefly joined your squad in a mission from Kate Bishop’s DLC storyline Taking AIM, but it was only the beginning to whet our appetites. Now, Hawkeye will face a desolate future in his original Operation Future Imperfect. As the name implies, it is based on the comic run by the same name. Maestro takes center stage and rules over what remains of humanity in the future. Crystal Dynamics used this opportunity to highlight its first new biome, the Wasteland. Tore and Oscar from their development team offer a few more insights into what we can expect with our first official look at the brand new biome.

Old Man Hawkeye is their main inspiration behind the Wasteland’s designThe spin-off of Old Man Logan revisited the titular hero’s journey throughout a broken and desolate world. The new biome’s design was grey and sandy early on until they decided to embrace the desert’s orange tint. Our first look certainly showcases how beautiful even a deserted world can look with the right color scheme. As teased in Bishop’s storyline, the world gets invaded by the Kree sentry. Some humans were able to take down a few of the Sentry but still got overrun by the alien invaders. If things weren’t bad enough, pollution and tectonic shifts have destroyed almost all life. Only a few humans are holding on for dear life, as nuclear bombs have created new canyons and a barely recognizable landscape

CD highlights that there will be various points of interest that players can check out to explore what happened in the future. A major aspect of the landscape will be the previously-mentioned Kree Sentry that are littered across the landscape. The images certainly show a promising new environment that will add a new spice to the game. Here are some of the screenshots and art work from their Developer Blog that highlights the new environment as we anticipate the reveals from next week’s Deep Dive:

  • Eli Roth’s ‘Borderlands’ Adds Jamie Lee Curtis

Eli Roth’s ‘Borderlands’ Adds Jamie Lee Curtis

Just two weeks ago, Kevin Hart joined the upcoming production of Borderlands in the role of Soldier Roland. He joins Cate Blanchett, who will take on the role of thief Lilith. It looks like they aren’t done yet, as Collider got the exclusive news that Jamie Lee Curtis will also be joining the production in the role of Dr. Patricia Tannis. She is certainly an interesting choice in the role of the non-playable character from Borderlands 2 and its sequel. It seems that they decided to age up the character. Her role could be quite similar to the games, as she might play a supporting role that sends out the main characters on their quest. It is uncertain if Blanchett‘s Lilith might be the main focus, or it will be closer to an ensemble film.

Curtis has been seeing a return to form with her return to the iconic 1978 role of Laurie Strode in the 2018 Halloween reboot. She also gave a fantastic performance in Knives Out. She is set to return to the silver screen in A24’s Everything Everywhere All at Once, as well as the horror sequel Halloween Kills. The latter got delayed due to the ongoing pandemic with a threequel already planned for 2022. Borderlands will be directed by Eli Roth based on a script by Craig Mazin. Their shared horror roots are certainly an exciting tease for what we may expect from this film. It will get quite gory with the teased R-rating. Fans of the game might expect a very unique interpretation of the franchise that Gearbox launched back in 2009.

  • Latest ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Dev Stream Teases New Iron Man Skin, Roadmap Update, and More

Latest ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Dev Stream Teases New Iron Man Skin, Roadmap Update, and More

We are only a few weeks away from the Clint Barton reveal, so we couldn’t wait to see what the latest developer stream may reveal about current projects. It certainly did not disappoint this week, as we have a slew of new information and minor updates to tide us over until Hawkeye’s big reveal. So, without wasting any more time, let’s jump straight into the revelations of the latest Marvel’s Avengers datastream:

    • We can expect a timing on when the upcoming Clint Barton War Table will release. It is not a stream but a pre-recorded video.
    • They revealed another brand new arrow type, the Boomerang Arrows.
    • It got confirmed that a developer blog will release next week with details on the new Wasteland environment. We can expect some insight into the design and inspirations for it. The upcoming Blog will mention Omega Level-threats, as Hawkeye will also receive multiplayer content.
    • They’ve teased a brand new Iron Man skin with a cape, which could be the Infamous Iron Man design.

    • They are looking into animated nameplates.
    • King Hulk’s hair will get a fix in the next patch.
    • The Roadmap requires the necessary approvals to ensure the release dates. It might not include dates but rather the order of their planned DLC.
    • Currently, there are no plans for new vault missions.
    • HARM Room improvements and features are in development. It was a response to the potential of customization options, so they are looking into it.
    • Multiplayer content is still being looked into, as they want to ensure that everything works.
    • They confirmed that more missions are on the way for the Avengers Initiative. In general, their 2.0 plans include loot, progression, inventory upgrades, new interiors, mission structure, and difficulty. A majority of their team is now working on new content moving forward.

    • Have also confirmed more weather scenarios for future missions, such as rain.
    • They love the idea of adding mini-games into the Helicarrier or other Outposts.
    • Future Operations can also include multiple characters instead of just focusing on one, but the main focus is to utilize operations to introduce new characters.
    • There was a strong maybe on multiple people playing the same character in the future.

Well, there you have it. I am really excited to see what the Iron Man skin looks like. It sounds like we can expect some other new skins to get added to the store. The 2.0 plans seem to be a massive undertaking for the team, as they aren’t just focusing on loot but most of the aspects that define the Avengers Initiative. Here’s hoping they can nail those in the coming months so we get some insight into what they are working on. Still, it was a very informative War Table, and cannot wait to see what Clint’s War Table has in store for us once it releases.

  • Latest ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Dev Stream Revealed First Details on Upcoming Hawkeye DLC

Latest ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Dev Stream Revealed First Details on Upcoming Hawkeye DLC

Right after the announcement that Clint Barton would finally get a Deep Dive next month, Crystal Dynamics had their latest developer stream. Of course, they couldn’t reveal anything major, but the team did use this chance to interact with the community. Not just that, they were even able to tease something about Hawkeye’s unique abilities. So, without wasting any time, let’s jump right into the latest developer stream recap:

    • CD revealed two types of arrows that include Pulsar and Tripwire. Pulsar Arrows stick to surfaces before they can explode remotely. In contrast, tripwire arrows consist of three elements that trigger when enemies get too close.
    • showcase stream will follow the Deep Dive. It will showcase how he and Kate are unique from each other. Her mentor has a different way of swinging his sword and heroics to make him stand out.
    • The next-gen update will include faster load times and unique haptic feedback for every hero. CD also teased the release date for the upcoming War Table video.

    • They asked the chat what enemy factions they would like to see. HYDRA was the top choice but also some surprising inquiries for Ultron bots. It surprised them as they know that people are tired of those robots.
    • Sadly, there was no update on Cloning Labs or Super Adaptoid.
    • The power rating and difficulty bug got fixed some time ago. It is currently only a UI issue.

It was great that they were able to reveal something about Clint. The arrows sound like a lot of fun to use. He might be more focused on trapping enemies throughout the map. It certainly adds an interesting new twist. They did confirm that he will have a completely new toolset that will set him apart from his protégé. It was quite a lot of love for HYDRA as a new enemy faction. I would love to see some dinosaurs from the Savage Lands or even ULTIMATUM getting the focus in the future. There is a lot to draw from, so if the Watchdogs can make it, why not?

Also, a big shout-out to @Sonicphoto and @CalexStreams for working together on collecting all the tidbits from the stream.

  • Roger Craig Smith Retiring from Voicing Sonic the Hedgehog After 10 Years

Roger Craig Smith Retiring from Voicing Sonic the Hedgehog After 10 Years

Here’s some heartbreaking news. Roger Craig Smith has just revealed on Twitter that he will no longer be voicing Sonic the Hedgehog. As he points out in his tweet, he took over the character ten years ago in Sonic Free Riders. He’s been playing the Blue Blur ever since. he also took on the role in the animated series Sonic Boom. There has been no official word by SEGA so far and it is uncertain if his voice will still be included in the latest game in development. It is never easy when a legacy character gets a new voice but he was welcomed with a lot of positivity all these years ago. Currently, we have no official confirmation on who will take over the role.

    https://twitter.com/RogerCraigSmith/status/1354805293369024520

What adds to this reveal is that we still haven’t gotten a single reveal for any upcoming Sonic game. So, there is a chance that the upcoming release will be his last appearance as the official voice for the character. We might also be surprised with a brand new voice once the first trailer gets released. Smith‘s voice acting was the defining aspect of Sonic even as many took on the role throughout his history. Jason Griffith, Jaleel White, and Ben Schwartz have added their own spin to the iconic character. When he took over 10 years ago, he had to fill some big shoes as Ryan Drummond laid the groundwork for Sonic’s first real 3D adventure in 1998. Of course, we’ll be hearing more from Smith in his many other roles but this announcement may be just the beginning of a big change for Sonic’s future.

  • ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Hawkeye War Table Deep Dive Announced for February

‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Hawkeye War Table Deep Dive Announced for February

We have been anxiously waiting for any sign of life for Marvel’s Avengers‘ next DLC character. Kate Bishop got released in the middle of December, so we’ve wondered when we can expect Clint Barton to join the team. Well, we don’t have a release date quite yet but a confirmation for the character’s official Deep Dive video. It looks like his inclusion in the latest newsletter was for a reason after all. The official Twitter channel for @PlayAvengers has officially released a new key art alongside the announcement. The next Deep Dive got slated for February 16th. It will also include our first look at the next-gen upgrade for the game.

It has been quite the wait since Clint got teased for the first time back in July. It wasn’t until Kate Bishop’s Deep Dive that we learned about his storyline that would thrust the archer into the future. The new key art highlights the trouble he will face with Maestro hanging above his head menacingly. Even if the wait was long, I am excited to explore this interpretation of the iconic Future Imperfect run.

This War Table reveal could also include a teaser for the next DLC hero. It seems pretty obvious at this point that it will be Black Panther. A few months back, we got some details from data miner @mmmmmmmmiller on what the king of Wakanda will bring to the table. There s still some time until they release the War Table video, so hopefully, we’ll also get smaller updates to build up to this reveal. Kate’s release was a few weeks after her showcase, but this one got announced further in advance. As such, the wait between Deep Dive and character release could be shorter.

  • Kevin Hart Joins ‘Borderlands’ Film as Soldier Roland

Kevin Hart Joins ‘Borderlands’ Film as Soldier Roland

Here’s an interesting casting announcement. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Kevin Hart will officially join the upcoming adaptation of Borderlands. It seems that Lionsgate was hard at work closing a deal with the Jumanji actor, who will take on the role of soldier Roland. The character has appeared in various games including Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, Borderlands 2, and Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep. THR points out that this will indeed be a more serious acting turn for Hart, who has a track record in comedies. So far, he is the second actor to join the project after Cate Blanchett, who is set to play thief Lilith. Director Eli Roth is working on the project based on a script by Craig Mazin. Lionsgate Motion Picture Group President had the following statement:

Kevin has been behind some of the world’s biggest blockbusters, and our source material is inspired by one of the world’s best-selling video games. We love the way our filmmaking team has adapted this story and we couldn’t be in better creative hands.

Borderlands is a popular franchise and released its official third entry in 2019. As THR points out, the franchise sold 66 million units since it initially launched. Hart is an interesting choice for the character of Roland. Roth also commented on the casting, as he is excited to showcase a different side of the actor. It is great to see Kevin Hart attempt a more serious role. He still has some comedies that wrapped up production recently, such as Man from Toronto and No F**s Given, but he is starting to venture out. One of his upcoming films Fatherhood deals with the story of a man losing his wife after she gave birth. So, Hart is slowly leaving his comfort zone to find new ventures in acting, which is always great to see.
