  • ‘Multiverse of Madness’: Promotional Art Shows Off Wong’s Newest Look

‘Multiverse of Madness’: Promotional Art Shows Off Wong’s Newest Look

Marvel Studios’ foray into the cinematic multiverse will have its biggest showcase yet with the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and everyone’s favorite Sorcerer Supreme will be along for the ride. I refer, of course, to the great and powerful Wong, who was revealed as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s latest head wizard during the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. The character, portrayed by Benedict Wong, has been known to be a part of Multiverse of Madness for some time, but fans are only now just getting a good official look at the hero through some recently released promotional art. Wong looks more or less the same as we’re accustomed to seeing him, with perhaps a few minor changes that include a fresh haircut.

Last we saw the Sorcerer Supreme, he was warning Benedict Cumberbatch‘s Dr. Stephen Strange of the dangers of casting a reality-altering spell. He’ll likely be unhappy with the results of Strange’s experiment when we see him next. Wong has become an unexpected bind for the MCU, appearing in multiple projects over the last year alone. Fans were delighted to see him pop up in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings as an opponent and teacher for Tim Roth‘s Abomination, before bringing Shang-Chi himself into the world of The Avengers. It’s still unknown where that plot point will lead, but it does seem as though Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios have bigger plans for Wong than anyone would have expected.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, directed by Sam Raimi, arrives in theaters on May 6, 2022.

  • RUMOR: Black Bolt Will Appear in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’

RUMOR: Black Bolt Will Appear in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’

Following the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, we finally have our first glimpse into the multiverse within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The upcoming sequel to 2016’s Doctor Strange will dive deep into a realm of infinite possibilities with the return of Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange. No Way Home featured quite a few multiversal cameos from characters like Willem Dafoe‘s Green Goblin, Tobey Maguire‘s Spider-Man, and even Jaime Foxx‘s Electro. With the multiverse open, it is unsurprising to think many more could pop up soon, one of which is rumored to be quite a popular Inhuman.

A new rumor from Fandomwire states that the ruler of Attilan himself, Black Bolt, will be making his MCU debut in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The character is believed to be a variant from within the multiverse working alongside the rumored multiversal Illuminati. Currently, there’s no name attached to the role, and it’s unknown if this Black Bolt will be the one we saw a while back in ABC’s Inhumans series, which ran for one season before being canceled by the network. If that was the case, then perhaps we could see Anson Mount reprise the role, but the Inhuman’s future in the Marvel cinematic universe is still up in the air.

Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness is currently set to release in theaters on May 6, 2022. The film was directed by Sam Raimi and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Elizabeth Olsen, Rachel McAdams, and Xochitl Gomez.

  • Jennifer Walters Breaks the Fourth Wall in ‘She-Hulk’ and Talks to Kevin Feige

Jennifer Walters Breaks the Fourth Wall in ‘She-Hulk’ and Talks to Kevin Feige

Jennifer Walters has been known to break the fourth wall in the She-Hulk comics. So, it’s not entirely surprising then that the forthcoming Disney Plus series will follow suit. However, a new report seems to suggest Jennifer will do more than simply break the wall.

During a recent appearance on the Straight Outta Gotham podcast, Geeks Worldwide’s Casey Walsh teased what fans can expect from She-Hulk. While he did reaffirm that, yes, Jenn will speak directly to viewers, there was one tidbit that is sure to delight many fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Per Walsh, fans can expect Jenn to speak directly to Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige.

The comment comes around the 48:10 mark. While talking about the planned reintroduction of Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Walsh describes She-Hulk as a straight comedy. “She looks at the camera and speaks directly to Feige,” he says.

Walsh also goes on to describe She-Hulk as a courtroom comedy, stating he’s interested to see how they turn She-Hulk into the reported World War Hulk(s) project in development. Per Walsh, there’s a very strong comedic tone to the series, even with Abomination, which he says will probably elicit a strong response from fans.

As it stands, She-Hulk does not yet have a release date.

  • EXCLUSIVE: Seth Green On a Possible Howard The Duck Solo Project

EXCLUSIVE: Seth Green On a Possible Howard The Duck Solo Project

Since 2014’s Guardians of The Galaxy, Howard the Duck has popped up here and there as an Easter egg for the die-hard fans. Voiced by Seth Green, Howard made his return this year, not in live-action, but in Marvel Studios’ first, animated project, What If…? The character played a supporting role in the T’challa Star-lord episode, but what many fans want to know is if there’s a potential solo project for the character in the future.

While there hasn’t been much about a potential Howard the Duck project, Lea Thompson, star of the original movie, has expressed interest in directing a reboot for the character over the past couple of years. But it seems like a solo project for the duck isn’t something Green would find all too interesting.

“I heard that she pitched it and I know that shes been directing a ton of stuff, I love the original but I gotta imagine that, and again this is just my imagination, I’ve always thought Howard works really well as part of an ensemble or in more of a co-star, the same way the Hulk does, you know? like the Hulk, making the whole Hulk movie is always more challenging, and I think Howards that kind of character. Hes good in a group.”

While Green seems to be entirely interested in Howard taking the spotlight, he definitely doesn’t seem to be against playing the character in a much larger capacity. With the Marvel Cinematic Universe spreading like wildfire in the next couple years, who knows where he could pop up next.

Crossing Swords returns for Season 2 on Hulu on Dec. 10.

  • Exclusive: Mighty Ducks Star Brady Noon Wants to Be the Next Wolverine

Exclusive: Mighty Ducks Star Brady Noon Wants to Be the Next Wolverine

Brady Noon is breaking out. Following his recurring role as Tommy Darmody in Boardwalk Empire, Noon co-starred in 2019’s Good Boys before landing the lead in the Disney Plus series The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers. Noon’s latest project is the Disney Plus original animated film, Diary of a Wimpy Kid where the 15-year old actor voiced Greg Heffley, the main character and the titular wimpy kid.

Disney and Noon seem to have a good relationship. He’s set to return for Season 2 of The Mighty Ducks and is expected to reprise the role of Greg in the 2022 Diary of a Wimpy Kid sequel, Rodrick Rules. As we’ve seen before, when Disney likes an actor, the studio likes to continue to work with them across multiple of their platforms. With that in mind, our Arlyn Murphy had an interesting question for Noon when they spoke earlier this week. Given that Disney owns Marvel Studios, Murphy asked Noon what Marvel character he’d like to bring to life if given his choice.

If I were to have to play any Marvel character, I’d probably want to play Wolverine as a kid or, like, Wolverine as a teenager. Being a young Hugh Jackman! I feel like that’d be pretty cool.

A younger Wolverine would certainly be one way for Marvel Studios to differentiate its version from the Fox version that Jackman played over two decades. We only briefly saw a young Logan in the Fox films, which rushed through the story told over six comic issues between 2001 and 2002 in Origin. A more direct adaptation of the comic might, in fact, make for a very good Disney Plus series, so Noon just might be onto something here. Could he be the first actor to go SNIKT in the MCU? With the direction his career is headed in now, it seems like anything is possible.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid hits Disney Plus on Dec. 3.

  • Michael Keaton Returning as Vulture in Mystery Marvel Project

Michael Keaton Returning as Vulture in Mystery Marvel Project

Spider-Man: Homecoming featured the live-action debut of a Spidey foe we’d yet to see hit the big screen: Vulture. The Vulture, as played by Michael Keaton, is regarded as one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s best antagonists, with a twist that no one saw coming. Since Homecoming, fans have been eager to see Keaton return to the MCU as Adrian Toomes. And well, following a brief appearance in both Morbius trailers, we’re just wondering where he’s going to end up next.

Keaton recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! where he revealed something he probably wasn’t supposed to. Joining the likes of Alfred Molina and Jaimie Foxx, it’s becoming a trend amongst veteran actors who’ve played Spider-Man foes to disregard their Non-Disclosure Agreements. “I’m shooting tomorrow. I’m shooting some Vulture stuff.”

The biggest question here is, if Keaton is indeed shooting scenes for the Vulture, what is he shooting them for? He may be filming additional photography for Morbius, possibly a post-credit stinger to further connect these worlds, potentially pairing the MCU sinister six together. Or the other option could be that he is filming something for Spider-Man: No Way Home. It feels much too late to add in him a larger capacity here, but it could be yet another post-credit scene for an upcoming Marvel project.

We might just have to wait and see where Adrian Toomes pops up next, whether it be in the MCU or the weird amalgam universe Sony seems to be shaping up over there.

Morbius is currently set to release in theaters on Jan. 28th, 2022 exclusively in theaters.

  • Jeremy Renner Comments on ‘Black Widow’ Post-Credits Scene

Jeremy Renner Comments on ‘Black Widow’ Post-Credits Scene

Even before the character was officially announced as part of the show, fans had a feeling that Marvel’s upcoming Hawkeye series would feature the next generation of Avenging Archer in Kate Bishop. What few people expected was for Hawkeye to also usher in the next generation of Black Widow.

It was revealed in December of last year that Florence Pugh‘s Yelena Belova would appear in the new Disney+ series after first debuting in Scarlett Johansson‘s long-delayed solo outing. The post-credits scene of Black Widow finally gave fans a reason why, with Belova’s character swearing revenge on Clint Barton for his supposed role in the death of her sister figure.

During a recent interview with Variety, series star Jeremy Renner was asked about his reaction upon seeing the scene play out for the first time. His response was perhaps more light-hearted than some might have expected:

Well, I was with my niece…and she said ‘Uncle Jeremy, what did you do?’ I didn’t do anything! I had no reaction, I was laughing at my niece.

    Jeremy Renner

It was a very sweet non-answer from the actor, who has been playing in the Marvel sandbox long enough to know when he should keep his comments short. Nonetheless, it’s interesting to note Renner didn’t say he knew about the scene before watching Black Widow. The fact that he learned about it with his niece and the rest of the fanbase could be an indicator that Clint and Yelena’s interactions in Hawkeye won’t play out as most viewers expect.

All will be revealed when Hawkeye begins airing it’s season on November 24th.

  • ‘Hawkeye’ Writer Jonathan Igla Reveals Origins of ‘Rogers: The Musical’

‘Hawkeye’ Writer Jonathan Igla Reveals Origins of ‘Rogers: The Musical’

The press tour for Hawkeye, Disney Plus’ latest offering from Marvel Studios, is in full swing, and head writer Jonathan Igla is spilling the beans on the details fans care about most.

Ever since the first trailer for the series revealed the show would feature a fictional stage production known as “Rogers: The Musical,” fans have been enamored by its potential. During a recent interview with Variety, Igla was asked about the story behind the creation of this exciting new addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the creative was happy to answer.

It was one of the most fun things… We would drive by a ‘Hamilton’ billboard every morning on the way to the writers’ room. One morning I just thought ‘Rogers: The Musical’, and we started talking about it and it expanded. One of the great things about working for Marvel is if you have an idea that starts out small…and you pitch it to them and everybody’s sort of tickled by it and everybody’s excited by it, they’re willing to pick it up and run with it and make it even bigger. I’m so excited for people to see.

    Jonathan Igla

It would seem the inspiration behind ‘Rogers: The Musical’ was exactly what it looked like. The Marvel Universe’s take on Broadway appears to tell the story of Steve Rogers’ life in the same way that Lin-Manuel Miranda‘s mega-hit Hamilton covered the life of actual Founding Father Alexander Hamilton. The comparison makes a lot of sense, considering both men are considered to have made large impacts on the history of the United States in their respective universes. It’s nice to see little details like this in the greater MCU, to show how the events of that world cause it to deviate from our own.

Fans will hopefully be able to see ‘Rogers: The Musical’ in all its glory when the first two episodes of Hawkeye drop on Nov. 24th.

  • The Studio Behind ‘Castlevania’ Nearly Made a Marvel Anthology Series

The Studio Behind ‘Castlevania’ Nearly Made a Marvel Anthology Series

Long before the Marvel Cinematic Universe came to be what it is today, Marvel Comics found success in its animated series. One of those was X-Men: The Animated Series, which is coming back as X-Men ’97 on Disney+, joining the newly announced Spider-Man: Freshman Year. However, as popular as those titles are, there are still plenty of Marvel projects that don’t always come to fruition – including animated ones.

During a recent Twitter thread, Brad Graeber, the CEO of Castlevania creators Powerhouse Animation, revealed he pitched a Marvel series in 2014 titled Marvel Era. The project was to coincide with Marvel’s 75th anniversary. It was pitched as a short-form anthology series that would have shorts covering various eras, each with its own animation style. He unveiled a video that teased what would have been, including a hint at the artwork that would have been used for each character/era.

Graeber wrote approximately 14 “rough” concepts for Marvel Era, including a 40s-centric Captain America D-day story, as well as a Submariner U-boat story and a 60s X-Men story featuring a mutant who “led a cult with his powers.” He also explained there was a “very cinema 70s” Luke Cage and Iron Fist, as well as an 80s Punisher story that leaned into Scarface and Miami Vice.

Unfortunately, though, Marvel Era never moved forward as “studio politics were complicated, and we were green.” For Graeber, it’s something he has come to terms with over time as he’s since gotten to work on the critically-acclaimed Castlevania for Netflix.

  • Marvel Studios Officially Reveals ‘Shang-Chi’s Place in the Sacred Timeline

Marvel Studios Officially Reveals ‘Shang-Chi’s Place in the Sacred Timeline

Either you watch them by release date or you watch them chronologically. For Marvel Cinematic Universe fans, there can be only one (way to watch)! For the chronologically minded, Marvel Studios has now given you one less thing to stress about and revealed just where Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings fits into established chronology. And it’s right where you probably expected it to be, more or less.

According to the “Marvel Cinematic Universe in Timeline Order” section of Disney Plus, the events of Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings take place after the events of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

Background details already indicated that Shang-Chi’s adventures took place post-Blip despite some early and ill-advised rumors that it would take place DURING the gap between Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

Of course, there is one question left open: with the MCU’s Spider-Man films not available on Disney Plus, fans still don’t know exactly where to place Spider-Man: Far From Home during their rewatch.
