New ‘Secret Invasion’ Set Photo Reveals An Avenging Presence in the Streaming Series

The Marvel Studios streaming series Secret Invasion continues production overseas ahead of what’s becoming an increasingly likely 2023 debut on Disney Plus and, to date, details about the series have remained…a secret.

Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn are heading up the series and are joined by Emilia Clarke, Olivia Colman, Kingsley Ben-Adir. Set photos and videos haven’t revealed much in the way of the series’ plot or who is playing whom, but a new set photo does reveal that at least one Avenger will be making an appearance in the streamer.

It looks as though Don Cheadle’s James Rhodes will be making an appearance in Secret Invasion. As revealed in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Rhodes is still an active member of the Air Force as of 2024. The set photo, which comes from IG user The_Insta_Phils, shows Rhodes on an in-universe newspaper with, presumably, American President Ritson. The newspaper also hints at some political tensions that’ll come into play in the series, as President Ritson is headed to the UK for “an emergency summit amid unprecedented tensions.” What info has leaked out about the series describes it as involving “political paranoia” involving spies, like Clarke’s yet-to-be-revealed character. Given the involvement of Skrulls, like Ben-Adir’s character, it’s no surprise that they’ll have found a way to pit the governments of the world against one another.

What role, if any, Cheadle’s Rhodey will have in the series is completely unknown. It’s possible the photo in the newspaper is the character’s only appearance and we wont’ see Rhodes at all. Of course, it’s also possible that Rhodes isn’t Rhodes at all and a Skrull-simmed Rhodes could be sewing all kinds of discord using his political pull. That, after all, is what Secret Invasion is all about. Who do you trust?

  • Latest ‘Secret Invasion’ Set Photo Includes ‘Hawkeye’ Connection

Latest ‘Secret Invasion’ Set Photo Includes ‘Hawkeye’ Connection

We’ve known for some time that Secret Invasion has been busy filming in the United Kingdom. Just recently, set photos have found their way from Halifax, where a secretive shooting location was leaked online through some behind-the-scenes photos. We’ve had a few set photos find their way online for some time now, but a brand new one includes a curious Hawkeye connection.

Twitter user @Roxmanoff shared a new photo from the production that includes a reference to the Rogers musical that highlights “Coming to the West End.” That is a reference to the famous London theater location, which is a new hint at another location that is part of the series globetrotting Skrull hunt. You can check it here:

At this point, the Rogers musical has appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home and two Disney+ series. It’s a fun connection across the universe and hopefully, they might also add more elements like these that create more visual connections, especially as the franchise starts expanding into multiple storylines that may or may not interconnect moving forward.

  • New ‘Secret Invasion’ Set Photos Offer First Glimpse at a Skrull and Teases Underwater Scene

New ‘Secret Invasion’ Set Photos Offer First Glimpse at a Skrull and Teases Underwater Scene

Production on the upcoming Disney+ series Secret Invasion is well underway, as filming in Halifax, UK continues to give us glimpses of the secretive series. Now, Reddit user u/crampedcaves345 has shared even more photos from the set in Halifax. While the original post has been taken down, the photos have found their way on Twitter offering our first glimpse at a Skrull and various filming locations:

One image shows a behind-the-scenes look at an actor playing a Skrull. This is probably our first look at someone in the full make-up since the production started, as even in the initial set photos we got everyone was human. Of course, the shot from behind doesn’t give away who the Skrull might be or even offer an indication of it being someone we know. One photo shows a pummeled law enforcement vehicle, while others tease different locations and sets for the series, as one looks to be an underwater stage set while another seems to be a jungle or forest.

The underwater pool is quite curious, as it makes you wonder if it might be for a post-credit sequence or the Skrulls have even invaded Atlantis, which will supposedly make its first appearance in the MCU during Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. There’s also the chance that someone might just crash into the water. For now, all we can do is speculate. Other leaked photos and videos recently have given us some looks at characters played by Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Emilia Clarke, and Ben Mendelsohn, among others. It seems like Secret Invasion might be getting less secret by the day.

  • Skrulls Return in New ‘Secret Invasion’ Comic Sequel

Skrulls Return in New ‘Secret Invasion’ Comic Sequel

In 2008, Marvel Comics launched one of their biggest crossover series titled Secret Invasion. A world filled to the brim with superheroes ended up as a refuge for the shape-shifting aliens known as Skrulls. They replaced key figures across the globe before they would enact their plan to completely take over the planet. While our heroes did manage to save the day, it came at quite the cost. It looks like the ghosts of the past are here to haunt them once again, as Marvel Comics is reviving the event with a new sequel.

The new storyline will appear as a limited series by The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl‘s Ryan North and Daredevil artist Francesco Mobili. The Skrulls will once again attempt a coup upon Earth, but this time it won’t go exactly as they believe it will. North teased the upcoming sequel with the following quote:

It’s a sequel in that it takes place in the same Marvel Universe as the first one and everyone in the story remembers the first one happening, but it’s more of a standalone story because they’ve all learned from that adventure and aren’t interested in seeing it go the same way twice, where they almost lose the Earth to alien invaders. You don’t have to have any of the 2008 series to enjoy this, of course – the book tells you all you need to know – but if you have there’s a few little callbacks you’ll catch.

    Ryan North

The Skrulls still believe that the Earth is rightfully theirs as they still search for a fitting new homeworld. Of course, the writer won’t give away any hints on who may have been replaced by a Skrull from our favorite heroes, but the discussions will most certainly be an exciting prospect as we face a similar challenge with Disney+’s live-action adaptation of the Secret Invasion storyline. Guess, 2022 will make us wonder: “Who do you trust?”

  • ‘Secret Invasion’ Set Video Shows [SPOILER] Working With Skrull Villain

‘Secret Invasion’ Set Video Shows [SPOILER] Working With Skrull Villain

Filming on Marvel Studios Disney Plus streaming series Secret Invasion continued yesterday in Halifax, UK and, as has been the case, much of what went on was caught on camera. Twitter user @bishopluvbot was on the scene and captured dozens of pictures and videos of yesterday’s scenes, all taking place on the Piece Hall set. Most of the main cast of the series has been on set all week, including Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn and Cobie Smulders, who are back in their respective roles, and newcomers Emilia Clarke and Kingsley Ben-Adir, whose roles are unknown outside of vague descriptions.

The above video captured a major explosion set during a scene being filmed on “National Unity Day” in the interior courtyard of Piece Hall. While it’s no surprise that Ben-Adir’s character, who is playing a Skrull and the main antagonist of the series, was involved in the explosion, another video does include a shocking revelation that may be considered a spoiler.

The second video shows the aftermath of the explosion, with wounded extras leaving the site. A few seconds into the video, Clarke’s character can be seen walking away from the explosion and getting into a car with Ben-Adir’s villainous character. This obviously casts doubts on Clarke’s motivations in the series, as earlier in the week she was seen exchanging a hug with Maria Hill.

Is Clarke a villain as well? Not much is known about her character, but she is known to be an “up and coming spy” who also has powers. Is she working with the Skrulls? Has she been simmed her? Given that the series is meant to be a paranoia-based thriller, it’s likely that fans will often be left wondering who is or is not a Skrull and what side anyone is on at any given moment. Seeing Clarke’s character working with Ben-Adir here is just the tip of the iceberg.

Secret Invasion will stream on Disney Plus sometime before 2075.

  • Emilia Clarke’s Character Acting Suspicious in Latest ‘Secret Invasion’ Set Video

Emilia Clarke’s Character Acting Suspicious in Latest ‘Secret Invasion’ Set Video

In a series titled Secret Invasion, we suspect a lot of foul play throughout the series. What doesn’t help is that quite a few spies will be involved in the series, which is the perfect recipe to keep people on their toes. A new set video has found its way online featuring Emilia Clarke in the same outfit we saw previously. It also adds a bit more to the scenes we saw featuring her and Cobie Smulders, who is returning as Maria Hill.

The video features Clarke‘s character walking by a building only to return back. It seems reports from the set, as this is part of LeedsLive’s Facebook stream, is that she is looking around nervously and acting suspiciously. Plus, she and Hill seem to know each other, which adds some more confusion to her behavior. Ther’s always a chance she ends up being a Skrull, but she may also just be a former SHIELD spy meeting back up with her.

We have no official word on Clarke‘s character and we might not find out for some time, but it does add to the intrigue of what exactly is going on during these scenes. It’s always fun to see what the scene looks like when we see what the sequence looks like once they release it on Disney+. There are quite a few people waiting outside the barriers, which may be the reason we’ve gotten so many set videos and photos since they started their production.

  • Latest ‘Secret Invasion’ Set Photo Offers First Look at Kingsley Ben-Adir

Latest ‘Secret Invasion’ Set Photo Offers First Look at Kingsley Ben-Adir

At this point, we might see the entire cast of Secret Invasion through set photos if more continues to find its way online. We got our first look at Emilia Clarke on the set just yesterday, and it seems, even more, have found their way online. This time though, we get a good look at Kingsley Ben-Adir on set. He’s another actor who has appeared in person and not as a Skrull, which makes sense with the whole “secret” part of the Disney+ series’ title. @SInvasionNews has shared the image provided by Instagram account donnajuds

    https://twitter.com/SInvasionNews/status/1485676580961767429?t=lr6QmDPf8NhyxVVZ65WjBA&s=19

It’s still very likely that Kingsley Ben-Adir is a Skrull, as he was initially cast as the series’ antagonist. Of course, we don’t know exactly who he might be playing, which is the big question mark and the fact we haven’t seen any Skrulls on this set does also lead us to wonder if they are keeping those reveals for in-door sequences. Of course, he may also be a red herring that the series is setting up to catch us off-guard during our viewing.

It’ll be fun to see how the series plays with our expectations, especially with such an iconic premise. Plus, we don#t know if some familiar faces might make a return from the films or other TV series, which raises the question of just how far have the Skrulls gone with their inflation. We might not be able to trust everyone in the projects to come.

  • New ‘Secret Invasion’ Set Video Offers Closer Look at Ben Mendelsohn

New ‘Secret Invasion’ Set Video Offers Closer Look at Ben Mendelsohn

The Secret Invasion set just keeps on giving, as our first video from the set has found its way online with our first full look at Ben Mendelsohn. In the last piece, we noticed that you could see his head next to Samuel L. Jackson, but we never got a clear shot. Well, a new video has surfaced from @BlueHarvesttoys that gives us a full look at the actor on set. While many will always remember him as the Skrull Talos, the actor did appear as himself in Captain Marvel, and it looks like that has become his default disguise in the upcoming Disney+ series.

We still don’t know which side Talos is on and what the future may have in store for the Skrull if his race starts a war against their own. They seem to be in-between shots in this scene, which won’t give us any real hints on what exactly they are doing in this sequence, which will take place in Russia as part of the Disney+ series. Secret Invasion will adapt the iconic comic storyline but will take some liberties with the original, especially with how we were introduced to the alien race in the MCU.

  • Cobie Smulders Spotted Alongside Emilia Clark in Latest ‘Secret Invasion’ Set Photos

Cobie Smulders Spotted Alongside Emilia Clark in Latest ‘Secret Invasion’ Set Photos

It looks like everyone is here, as more set photos are finding their way online. We just shared our first look at Emilia Clarke on the Disney+ set, and now she’s been spotted again but not alone. It looks like she is walking alongside Cobie Smulders‘ Maria Hill on the set, which may hint at her being an ally of sorts for our group of spies. Her role is still kept in the shadows, and it’s unclear if she is a human or even a Skrull, as anything is possible in an adaptation of Secret Invasion. You can check out the set photos here, as shared by @scarletetearp:

It looks like some of the pictures we saw earlier featuring Samuel L. Jackson also included Ben Mendelsohn, who was just off-screen. Some more photos have found their way online that features a small glimpse of him in his human form on the Disney+ series set. The last time we saw him as himself in the MCU was during Captain Marvel.

It’s been a crazy start to a Sunday with this many set photos leaking online, especially with almost everyone that has been announced for the project spotted on set. The only ones missing are Kingsley Ben-Adir, Olivia Colman, and Killian Scott. Yet, it could only be a question of time at this rate until they may end up getting spotted on set.

  • Samuel L. Jackson Spotted in Latest ‘Secret Invasion’ Set Photos

Samuel L. Jackson Spotted in Latest ‘Secret Invasion’ Set Photos

Well, it seems that after a long bout of silence, set photos are slowly rolling online one after another for Secret Invasion. We just got our first look at Emilia Clarke from the Disney+ series set, but it looks like some more have spotted Samuel L. Jackson‘s Nick Fury on the set. The first photos that found their way online include a look at the clapperboard with the production name Jambalaya, as well as – if you look very closely – the actor sitting in a car.

    https://twitter.com/declanwilli94/status/1485225246735151105

That is not all, as the actor has also been spotted in some more set photos by Milner Creative, as shared by @SInvasionNews with the actor wandering the streets, which we learned earlier on are meant to take place in Russia. He has the same beard on that we saw in the first official look from the 2021 Disney+ Day video.

It makes you wonder if the version of the character we saw during the Spider-Man: Far From Home post-credit sequence was Fury. We don’t know the exact timeline for these events, but there’s a good chance it takes place long after and perhaps something happened in space. We don’t know what will bring him back to Earth, especially with the Department of Damage Control well-informed that he’s absent. We’ll see how it all comes together once we get a closer look at the series.
