‘Loki’ Cast Members Getting into the Madness of ‘Doctor Strange 2’

Owen Wilson Is Back as Lightning McQueen for a “Cars” TV Series

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is undergoing extensive reshoots which are designed, as star Bandicoot Snugglesnatch explained, to help realize the full potential of the film. Whether that means getting people on set who couldn’t be there before, when the film was shooting in the UK, or adding/reshooting some things, it’s ultimately a positive part of the filmmaking process for a pro like Sam Raimi and part of Raimi’s vision for this film apparently includes having Loki, Mobius and Sylvie in it. A recent IMDB update shows that stunt doubles for the actors behind those characters have recently joined the production. Additionally, Owen Wilson has been spotted in Los Angeles, a place he does NOT frequent unless he’s working. We’ll see how mad it all gets next May.

WandaVision': How Monica Rambeau Becomes a 'Leader Among Heroes' in Westview | Marvel

As the Doctor Strange sequel keeps on keeping on, the Captain Marvel sequel, The Marvels, has wrapped principal photography after just shy of 3 months of work. Ironically enough, after going the entire duration of filming without a leak, a few set photos leaked the day after filming wrapped. The film is now slated for a February 17th, 2023 release.

Ant-Man's Most Overlooked Cameo: Ant-Man Himself

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania wrapped production as well and will not sit in the can for nearly 2 years before it releases in July of 2023. Of course it’ll undergo some additional photography at some point, which will inspire some intrepid internet personality to claim it’s a disaster and that the entire film is being reworked, but such is the cycle. It’s rumored that by the time the film does hit theaters, Rudd will look exactly the same as he did when filming began.

Netflix Go Going for a Power Rangers Universe

    Magnet Brain - Morphin' Legacy

After crashing and burning with the launch of their Millar-verse when Jupiter’s Legacy turned out to be D.O.A., Netflix isn’t giving up. The streaming network, in an effort to keep up with the competition, is working on mapping out a Power Rangers Cinematic Universe, full of interconnected shows and films. Dragon shit!!

Chris Pratt to Americanize Italy’s Greatest Hero in Upcoming Film Adaptation

Arnold Schwarzenegger Explains the Frustrations of Why a New CONAN Film Hasn't Happened — GeekTyrant

In an unprecedented act of aggression, American actor Chris Pratt is boldly attempting to erase the heritage of one of Italy’s greatest heroes by simply refusing to acknowledge it. Pratt, who is voicing Italian icon Mario, will reportedly not be imitating the stereotypical accent that’s been developed by the character over the years. Is nothing sacred?

Scott Snyder’s ‘Nocterra’ Headed to Netflix

Interview: Scott Snyder Talks NOCTERRA and the Rising Popularity of Indie Comic Books - Daily Dead

One of the more original indie comics of 2021, Nocterra, is now in the pipeline to be adapted at Netflix. Nocterra, created by Scott Snyder of Batman fame, is a horror series that tells of a dystopian future where the lights all went out and a lot of bad shit started happening to people, including being turned into terrifying monsters. It truly is a wonderful book that you should check out before it gets turned into a trash series on Netflix.

More Blade Runner on the Way

Blade Runner: How well did the film predict 2019's tech? - BBC News

Ridley Scott was a little grumpy this week, but in one of his kinder moments, he did mention that he had pitched a 10-episode season of a Blade Runner live-action series. It was a little confusing because on one hand, he railed against millennials while, on the other hand, realizing that streaming is the future of entertainment. With an Alien series already in development, it looks like 2 of Scott’s most iconic franchises will continue to live on and that’s almost certainly a good thing.

‘Dead Boy Detectives’ Cast Gets Recast During Casting for Dead Boy Detectives

Dead Boy Detectives Recasts Doom Patrol Actors For New HBO Max Pilot

The Doom Patrol spinoff series, Dead Boy Detectives, found it’s 3 leads this week. The new crew, who will replace the crew that appeared on the most recent season of Doom Patrol, is comprised of George Rexstrew, Jayden Revri and Kassius Nelson. I have no idea who these actors or characters are, but I think JJ liked them.

  • Don’t Expect an Italian Accent from Chris Pratt’s Mario in ‘Super Mario’ Film

Don’t Expect an Italian Accent from Chris Pratt’s Mario in ‘Super Mario’ Film

It looks like the upcoming Super Mario film will change something quite iconic about the popular Nintendo mascot. Throughout the games, the character famously was brought to life by Charles Martinet, who gave the character an iconic Italian accent. He’s also voiced most of the supporting cast including his brother Luigi, Wario, and Waluigi. That all will change when Chris Pratt takes over the voice role for the gaming icons grand return to the silver screen, but it looks like he’ll have a very different approach.

In an interview with toofab, Illumination Entertainment producer Chris Meledandri revealed that we shouldn’t expect his iconic Italian accent for the film. He added that Pratt will add his own spin of the character’s voice, which will be greatly different from what fans are used to. Though, he does highlight that there will be a reason given for the character’s new voice in the film. Meledandri goes on to highlight that:

All I can tell you is the voice that he’s doing for us, and Mario, is phenomenal,” the 62-year-old insisted upon a recent return to LAX. “Yeah I can’t wait for people to hear it

He does highlight that there will be some representation of their Italian heritage in the film, but that’ll be in the form of Charlie Day as Luigi.

Charlie Day, who’s playing Luigi, actually comes from Italian heritage. Yeah so that’s our nod

It’s certainly a strange decision to move completely away from the voice that made the character iconic. Even when the film SCOOB! replaced the franchise’s iconic voice cast, the voice of Shaggy copied that of the original character. It’s a recurring theme that animated projects hire non-voice actors to add as a selling point to its advertising, but we’ll see what Pratt brings to the table.

  • Animated ‘Super Mario’ Film’s All-Star Cast Revealed During Nintendo Direct

Animated ‘Super Mario’ Film’s All-Star Cast Revealed During Nintendo Direct

Here’s a rather surprising reveal during a Nintendo Direct. We got our first official announcement for the upcoming Super Mario film adaptation by Illumination. Not only is the film set to release Holiday of 2022 with North America getting a definite release on December 21st, but we also got a glimpse into the film’s rather massive cast. Chris Pratt will play Mario and will face off against Jack Black‘s Bowser. Seth Rogen will take on the role of Donkey Kong while Peach is played by Anya Taylor-Joy. You can check out the full cast list alongside the poster right here:

It’s great that Charles Martinet, the original voice of most of the Super Mario characters, will have cameos throughout the film. Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong is also quite a curious addition. In the game’s lore, Cranky is the original Donkey Kong you face off before even Mario got his name. It also matches up with the reveal that a character from the 1985 game, Wrecking Crew, getting added, as we’ll explore the early days of our unlikely hero. Shigeru Miyamoto did highlight that Mario will talk quite a bit, which makes sense with them hiring Chris Pratt in the role. We’ll still have to wait for our official look and here’s hoping we get to see Illumination’s vision in the near future.

  • ‘Super Mario 3D World’ Port Heading for Switch With Additional DLC

‘Super Mario 3D World’ Port Heading for Switch With Additional DLC

Can you believe that it’s Mario’s 35th anniversary? To celebrate, Nintendo shadow dropped a giant Anniversary special that had quite a few reveals in it. There will be a Battle Royale-inspired Super Mario Bros. game where 35 players compete. They created a Game&Watch system that plays the original Super Mario Bros. and the Lost Levels. We also got the reveal of a brand new Super Mario 3D All-Stars game that will revisit 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy. Not only that, but we also have one more massive reveal for the year. Wii U’s Super Mario 3D World will also get a port for Switch.

That ending teaser is a rather interesting surprise. Bowser’s Fury seems to be an additional world that is themed around the game’s main cat mechanic. Strangely, we do see Mario in his catsuit but it reminds me more of Super Mario Odyssey. Perhaps they are adding a DLC that unlocks a brand new world for the other game. It most likely isn’t the case, as most Nintendo game additions were visualized in the same way. It is quite close to how they revealed the addition of Bowser’s Minions for the Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga remake. I am still surprised that Odyssey hasn’t received any additional world that explores different aspects of the game’s past. Either way, this is a great way to celebrate the franchise’s history and give people that didn’t own a Wii U the chance to try out the game.

  • ‘Super Mario 3D All-Stars’ Confirmed for a Limited Release

‘Super Mario 3D All-Stars’ Confirmed for a Limited Release

It has been heavily rumored for so long, it almost seemed like it was just a pipedream. Surprisingly, in a random Direct reveal it was confirmed for the Switch. Super Mario 3D All-Stars will feature Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy in one little package. It will be made available as of September 18th but is only available for a limited time. Yes, in a bizarre move, Nintendo has limited the release until the celebration ends March 2021. This means it will be quite the hot commodity once it is released in a few weeks.

There is a bizarre lack of Super Mario Galaxy Sunshine 2. It makes to highlights the biggest mainline Super Mario games in one collection. Still strange, as the sequel to Galaxy only improved on the original to make it an even better experience overall. Still, this is a fantastic reveal and is a must-have for any Mario fans out there. It is also great to see them keeping the All-Stars branding that they haven’t used since the release of Super Mario All-Stars in 1993. That will also be made available for owners of Nintendo’s online subscription service.

In the Anniversary Direct, they did confirm the games will be playable in a higher resolution. Also, they have outfitted the games to also fit in the You can also play through the music from the game in an audio player mode. This was a trend that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate started, as the Switch can also be used as an audio player while on the go. Mario has been an icon for many generations and with Odyssey‘s recent success it is just the beginning. Here’s to another 35 years.
