    ‘The Mandalorian’ and ‘Loki’ Lead Disney+ Viewership

    There’s been a lot of debate on just how well the various series perform on Disney+. While some might want to use it to argue on their personal favorite series leading the pack, but it’s also an indicator of what was the most popular production on the streaming app. While none of Disney+s original productions could compete with Star Wars or Marvel, The Hollywood Reporter and Nielsen offers a little insight into how they generally performed through an analysis based on viewing data for the streamer. As of now, it seems that The Mandalorian and Loki remain the best performing series on the site.

    Throughout their runtime, every entry of the six live-action shows across both major brands were in the top 10 each week they released a new episode. Yet, it is highlighted that they continuously made billion more minutes of view time spent afterwards. Even What if..? and Star Wars: The Bad Batch made appearances throughout with around two billion minutes of viewing time within seven weeks. The Mandalorian is yet the clear leader with 14.5 billion minutes watched throughout the year. However, 8.4 billion were alone from the time the second season made its debut.

    While the Marvel shows have yet to top the series that started Disney+, Loki managed to draw in 5.23 billion minutes of watch time. It even passed one billion in a single week, and is the only Marvel series to do so. On top of that, it had the highest average watch time for any series, even including Star Wars with 872M minutes per episode in its six week runtime. Falcon and the Winter Soldier actually ranked right behind it with 692M minutes per episode, but reaching 4.15B average. Hawkeye had a weaker run with 3.46B minutes watched during its viewing time.

    The biggest challenge will come for Marvel Studios introducing new characters to the franchise through Moon Knight and Ms. Marvel. All previous entries were built on existing characters but they are believed to have the potential to become next quarter’s biggest series alongside Obi-Wan Kenobi. We also have to keep in mind these aren’t direct numbers from Disney+, where they might have a very different picture. It strongly depends on what they base their success on that could reshuffle this order.

    Well, it seems that even with all the hurdles it faced throughout, The Mandalorian‘s third season has wrapped production. Currently, the series is potentially eyeing a release by this Holiday, which matches the series and its spinoffs usual release schedule. And, it seems they’ll have enough time to prepare for their release, as Amanda Ramirez has shared a new logo from the Disney+ series’ costume department confirming that they have finished work on the upcoming Season 3. The logo she shared may be something she created for the team, as she’s a cross stitch artist as revealed in an interview with Shoutout LA.

    The timing is also perfect as we just got a big reveal, as Hollywood icon Christopher Lloyd has joined the series in an unknown role. Star Wars expansion into the medium has certainly managed to draw in some major talent, especially veteran actors that have made a name for themselves in the industry with genre pictures. The franchise always had a strong pull but it keeps growing as they are now investing more time in expanding it beyond animation and a trilogy.

    The Mandalorian‘s upcoming third season will pick up where The Book of Boba Fett left us off. For those htat missed out on that spinoff series, it might be quite a bit jarring jumping back into the story, but we’ll likely get a recap early on. Their reunion was still rushed a bit, as we’re already entering the next season with the same status quo that we left the other one with, but we’ll see where it leads us.

    ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3 Adds Christopher Lloyd

    Star Wars franchise has just nabbed quite the veteran for the upcoming third season of The Mandalorian, as The Hollywood Reporter has just revealed Christopher Lloyd, famous for his roles in Back to the Future, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, and so many other countless projects have joined the project. His role remains tightly under wraps, but he is meant as a guest star and won’t have a recurring role. It might be similar to The Terminator‘s Michael Biehn in the last season.

    The Mandalorian has truly become a special franchise as it continues to pull in quite a few veteran actors. Din Djarin’s story seems to resonate with quite a few, as well as the talent that is bringing their story to life. The series has already been in active development in California, and we just recently got a few set photos teasing the return of a fellow Mandalorian. So, we’ll see if the upcoming third season might manage to become even larger in size than the previous ones.

    Din Djarin’s story will pick up directly where it left off in The Book of Boba Fett. While it did seem rushed to have him and Grogu meet up again, especially in a spinoff story, it opens up a lot of opportunities and possible stories to explore in the next season. Grogu still has no control over his powers and may succumb to the dark side, or even teach Luke a lesson about the importance of allowing an emotional connection to make you stronger. Whatever it is, we’ll have to see once the third season drops on Disney+.

    New ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3 Set Photos Reveal Return of Axe Woves

    It looks like Din Djarin won’t be the only Mandalorian in the upcoming third season of The Mandalorian Disney+ series. It seems that Simon Kassianides will make his return as Axe Woves, who briefly appeared in the Bo-Katan introduction episode back in the seconds season. He was the only member of her trio that was noticeably absent during the finale. Luckily, Bespin Bulletin dropped a few set photos from the production that reveals an actor with the same armor on the set.

    They do highlight that it’s very likely Kassianides himself, and he was working alongside Katee Sackhoff as well. So, we might see Bo Katan make her return in the upcoming season as well. The actress has hinted in the past on why Woves may have been absent during the final moments, but it’s uncertain if they might further explore the Night Owl’s moving forward. It is still surprising they haven’t gotten their own spinoff with how popular they were, especially when Sackhoff continued to play the role from the animated series.

    Still, it’s great to see more involvement of the other Mandalorians in the upcoming sequel, especially with the series potentially moving towards further exploring Mandalore, as another rumor by Bespin Bulletin hinted at the potential visit of the mines below Mandalore that the Armorer teased. So, we’ll likely see more of their race pop up as the series continues and an unlikely following gathers around Din Djarin, the one to wield the Darksaber.

    No one wants Mace Windu to return to Star Wars more than Samuel L. Jackson. He’s been very vocal about a potential return in the role and has actively campaigned that he can wield his purple lightsaber again. There are quite a few theories that he survived his encounter with Palpatine, who used force lightning to push him out of the window. Yet, we’re still waiting for any news on a potential return.

    It seems the actor has also been getting impatient and seemingly already discussed a potential return with director Bryce Dallas Howard, who has made a significant contribution to The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. It seems that she is also on board to have him return.

There’s a huge history of people with one hand returning in Star Wars… The only person I’ve ever said that to about coming back was Bryce Dallas Howard, ’cause I just did a movie with her. And she directs episodes of The Mandalorian, so, ‘You think you might be able to hook a brother up?     There have been quite a few theories that it was Mace Windu that saved Grogu from the Clone Troopers’ enacting Order 66. Not only would it be fitting with a wounded Windu trying his best to save one of the surviving Padawans, but it would also open up for a curious reunion in the upcoming third season. Of course, as the actor will also be leading the Secret Invasion Disney+ series, he certainly could lead his own spinoff series. We all can agree that we want to see him get his purple lightsaber back.

    RUMOR: Din Djarin May Visit Mandalore in ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3

    There have been quite a few rumors making the rounds on what we might expect from the third season of The Mandalorian. After the reunion of Din Djarin and Grogu in The Book of Boba Fett, it seems like the future is bright for the two. Well, it seems that one hint from the first spinoff may become a reality in the upcoming next season, as Bespin Bulletin has shared some details on a new set that might tease Djarin’s arrival at a location teased throughout the franchise so far, his homeworld Mandalore.

    Bespin Bulletin describes a cave set where Paz Vizla, Din Djarin, and the Armorer were on set for the sequence. It’s a cave that has black sand at its entrance. It seems that the first rumblings of this location were already earlier in the year, but the cast reports alongside some updates, i.e. the before-mentioned sand, has made the connection to this potentially being the Mines of Mandalore. What helps is the reference to this location as a way for Djarin to make up for taking off his mask and rejoining the Mandalorian creed. The rumor also hints at the cave including a lake, which is referenced as the living waters.

    There have been strong hints that the group that raised him is quite radical. So, the potential return of Bo Katan may also open up a potential conflict for the Mandalorian, who now wields the Darksaber. A visit to Mandalore always seemed like the endgame for the storyline, but with Grogu’s return, anything can happen. One thing is for sure, he won’t let anything happen to his ward.

    Leaked ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3 Set Photos Tease Sith-Themed Mandalorians

    The continuation of Din Djarin’s story has been highly anticipated after The Book of Boba Fett gave us the reunion of Baby Yoda and Djarin. While it felt a bit sudden shortly after they separated, it did open up a lot of possibilities on what The Mandalorian Season 3 might explore. It’s almost impossible to predict what direction they might take, but a slew of set photos have leaked online that may offer a glimpse into what they’re planning.

    What stands out in the images are the bright red Mandalorian-like helmets. They seem to share the same color as the Sith Troopers that we see in the sequel trilogy, but with the overall design used for Mandalorian helmets. The split in the middle is the only oddity in its design. The third image does hint at another empire base being visited. Perhaps a group of rogue Mandalorians has aligned themselves with them. The material also seems to be closer to Trooper armor rather than the usual Beskar. Plus, don’t have any horns, which excludes a connection to Darth Maul’s time as the ruler of Mandalore. It’ll be interesting to see how these factor into the series whenever it premieres.

    The Empire is probably still after poor Grogu, who still has an affinity for using the Force. Perhaps his action son Tatooine might have put him back on their radar, as he and his father are on the run. The Mandalorian also set up an eventual battle for Mandalore, as Djarin would become the person to wield the Darksaber. So, we’ll see if these helmets are from those hunting him down.

    Star Wars fans can probably remember just how excited they were when the post-credit scene to the season finale of the second season of The Mandalorian showed Boba Fett, with the help of Fennec Shand, marching into Jabba’s palace, killing Bib Fortuna and taking the throne. This, of course, was followed by the official announcement that the legendary bounty hunter would get his own series, The Book of Boba Fett. While that series, which has now completed its run, may not have lived up to everyone’s expectations, there’s no debate that the post-credit scene is a moment that lives on in fan’s minds as it held the promise of something wonderful.     RUMOR: Jim O’Heir Joins ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3

    The past two seasons of The Mandalorian have introduced comedians into the galaxy far, far away, with actors like Bill Burr and Amy Sedaris picking up some prominent roles. It seems that trend may continue as Parks and Recreation star Jim O’Heir has been rumored to be making an appearance in the upcoming third season.

    In a recent appearance on Rob Lowe and Alan Yang’s podcast, Parks and Recollection, O’Heir was asked just what he was working on these days, to which he responded with a rather secretive answer.

    “Oh shoot, I don’t know if im allowed to say where I am. I can say a state, I’m in a state, New Mexico, I don’t know”

    The answer is fitting and feels like something that would come out O’Heir’s Parks and Rec character. In fitting with the Parks and Rec feel, Lowe’s response sounded an awful lot like his character, Chris Traeger.

    “I will say, Jim, I know what you’re working on, and it rhymes with the latest instalment of Bar Wars.”

    Season 3 of The Mandalorian has been filming for quite some time now, with actor Carl Weathers confirming filming on the next season began in October. Production is reportedly set to wrap sometime this month, right before filming begins on the Mando spin-off, Ahsoka. No official release date for the third season has been announced just yet but is expected to hit Disney+ late this year, eyeing a 2022 holiday release, following a similar release pattern as previous ones.

    ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ Finale Beats Out ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 2 Finale Viewership

    The numbers are in and it looks like eh final episode of The Book of Boba Fett may have beat out its predecessor’s final numbers. Deadline has just shared the first analysis from Samb TV – Disney+ still refuses to release its numbers – that reveals the final episode was watched by 1.5M U.S. households from Wednesday to Sunday. That is 36% higher than the 5-day total from The Mandalorian‘s Season 2.

    Robert Rodriguez‘ directed the episode “In the Name of Honor” was not far from its pilot episode, which opened with 1.7M over the course of five days. It’s pretty in line with what other series have faced, such as Hawkeye dropping from 1.5M in its premiere to 1.3M in its finale. It’s actually quite a stronghold for viewership numbers that may be a benefit from its low episode number. Though the last Marvel show also opened with two episodes, it seems this has been Disney+’s usual trend.

    We still have to keep in mind that this is a 3rd party analysis and doesn’t reflect the exact performance of these series but offers an estimate based on their internal panel. To this day, Loki still holds the best performance on the platform with 1.9M viewers for its finale after also getting the biggest season premiere at 2.5M. Moon Knight recently has been outpacing most Marvel Studios series and could be the next contender for the top spot if it keeps it up until its release on March 30th.
