Chloé Zhao Confirms the Identity of the ‘Eternals’ Post-Credit Cameo

Eternals has finally hit theaters after multiple delays due to the ongoing pandemic, but the wait was worth it. The film will start a new chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Still, as much as things change, some traditions continue. The latest Marvel film features two post-credit scenes, which continue to tease what the future might have in store for fans. The second scene, however, may have left some fans scratching their heads as to just what was going on. Luckily, director Chloé Zhao was able to offer more insight.

We will spoil Eternals and its second post-credit sequence. Only continue at your own risk if you are currently avoiding spoilers for the film.

The final post-credit scene features Dane Whitman pacing back and forth near a large sealed crate with his family’s crest on it. Once it opens, the Ebony Blade is revealed. Dane contemplates picking it up before finally giving in and going for it. Just before Dane is able to pick it up, we hear a voice ask “Sure you’re ready for that Mr. Whitman?”. We never find out who that was as it cuts to black the moment he turns around.

Theories have been going around quite a bit and luckily, Chloé Zhao didn’t waste any time to reveal who exactly was the mysterious visitor. In an interview with Fandome, she confirmed that the voice belonged to Maharshala Ali‘s Eric Brooks, or better known as Blade.

“That was the voice of one of my favorite superheroes, Mr.Blade himself Blade. Blade, Blade, Yeah!.”

While we didn’t get a look at the vampire hunter, it’s a curious reveal. It opens up the window of what exactly his inclusion means for the character, as he prepares to tackle the role that was last seen on silver screens in 2004’s Blade: Trinity. Blade is set to be directed by Bassam Tariq and will be written by Stacey-Ossei Kuffour. As the film was potentially pushed back by a year, it’ll be interesting to see if he makes an appearance in other supernatural-based adventures.

  • RUMOR: HBO Max’s ‘Green Lantern’ Series to Be Similar in Tone to HBO’s ‘Watchmen’

RUMOR: HBO Max’s ‘Green Lantern’ Series to Be Similar in Tone to HBO’s ‘Watchmen’

Since the platform launched we’ve known that HBO Max would be developing a Green Lantern-based series exclusively for the streamer. The series has been developing at a much slower pace than others, but we know that the first season will span decades. Certain episodes will focus on different lanterns. We know a considerable amount about the series, especially its characters and what their stories might entail. Yet, a new rumor by Illuminerdi might be hinting that the story might be much darker than anticipated.

The series won’t be like other superhero properties, as it’s reportedly set to be much darker in tone. and being compared to HBO’s Watchmen limited series. This is great news if you consider which members of the Lantern Corp will be at the forefront of the series. Alan Scott will deal with being a closeted police officer in the 1940s, while Bree Jarta and Simon Baz face racism on their home planet. Jessica Cruz will most likely be dealing with her mental health and crippling anxiety if they take cues from her comic book origins. This darker tone is perfect for the series, as it gives the writers a much easier job bringing these characters and their stories to life without having to sugarcoat their development into full-fledged lanterns.

Green Lantern currently has no set release date but will reportedly begin filming soon. The series has cast Finn Wittrock as Guy Gardner, Jeremy Irvine as Alan Scott, and Tobias Menzies as Sinestro. There is still no word on if the series will be set within the greater DCEU, but one can only hope that isn’t cast away to another unnamed universe in the ever-expanding Multiverse Warner Brothers is building with DC.

  • Keith David Joins ‘Stargirl’ Season 3 as Mister Bones

Keith David Joins ‘Stargirl’ Season 3 as Mister Bones

The second season of Stargirl saw the arrival of Eclipso to Blue Valley, a villain who effectively dismantled the Justice Society, member by member, while barely lifting a finger. The second season just recently wrapped up its run on the CW, and filming is already underway for Season 3. Not much is known about what’s to come in the next season, but it seems a minor mention in a previous episode season will indeed set the stage for the upcoming season of Stargirl

In recent episodes, we saw Courtney and Pat make their way to the Helix Institute in search of Jenny Hayden. Jenny, of course, is on her own mission as she looks for her brother Todd Rice. Upon their departure, there’s a brief scene in which Louise Love, head nurse at Helix, makes a phone call to one Mister Bones. While it’s not clear, we can assume he is the mastermind behind the operation at Helix. At the very end of the Season 2 finale, we finally see the reveal of Mister Bones himself. Bones is on his way to Blue Valley, Nebraska, in search of more candidates for his experiments at the institute. The most shocking part of this reveal was that the person voicing Bones is none other than Keith David, best known for his work on SpawnThe Thing and The Princess and The Frog.

We previously speculated that Helix and Bones would be returning to Stargirl as possible villains in season 3. It’s still unknown if other characters like Penny Dreadful, Baby Boom, Kritter, or Tao Jones will join Bones on his way to Blue Valley. It’s also unclear if Jenny will reunite with her brother Todd.

A release date for Stargirl‘s third season has not yet been unveiled.

  • Brenton Thwaites Confirms ‘Titans’ Season 5

Brenton Thwaites Confirms ‘Titans’ Season 5

This past season of Titans saw the team hit a bit of a bump in the road, as the death of Jason Todd brought the heroes from San Francisco, all the way back to Gotham City. The absence of Batman led the team to stick around and defend the city as Scarecrow and Red Hood began their reign of terror. The series just recently wrapped up its third season at HBO Max with a fourth season confirmed to be in the works at DC FanDome. It seems like fans of the series need not worry about the future of the Titans though.

In an interview with Matt Sheehan, actor Brenton Thwaites, who plays Dick Grayson on Titans may have confirmed that the series has already been renewed for a fifth season before the fourth had even begun production. While asking a question on what’s in store for Dick and Kory, and the potential future we saw for them in the finale of season 3, Thwaites let it slip that season 5 would be happening.

“So I knew it was a placeholder for whats to come in Season 4 and 5, and I just, I just asked that they were very confident that they were very confident that would happen”

  • REPORT: ‘Okoye’ Set To Begin Production in 2023

REPORT: ‘Okoye’ Set To Begin Production in 2023

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is growing faster than it ever has before, with so many new characters bringing a ton of new stories to tell. Disney+ has given the cinematic universe a whole new playing field to expand and develop more projects with some of the most beloved characters in comics. Smaller characters with overflowing, with potential such as Agatha Harkness, and even Okoye, are scoring solo projects that’ll be able to explore their characters better than their mothership projects were ever able to.

Back in May, we learned that actress Danai Gurira would reprise her role as Okoye, leader of the Dora Milaje, for her very own solo project. It was reported that this series would be separate from the previously announced Wakanda project from Ryan Coogler, most likely diving into Okoye’s origins and upbringing as she trained and climbed the ranks of the Dora. In a new report from GWW, the site has revealed that the spin-off series is currently set to begin production sometime in 2023 alongside projects like Fantastic FourNova, and the highly anticipated sequel to Shang-Chi and the Legend of The Ten Rings.

The project is currently believed to be a streaming series on Disney+, yet another series in the ever-expanding slate that will hit the streaming service. There isn’t much known about the project aside from Gurira reprising her role and Ryan Coogler most likely developing it as part of his five-year overall deal between his production company, Proximity Media, and Disney.

  • ‘Dune: Part Two’ Officially in The Works at WB and Legendary

‘Dune: Part Two’ Officially in The Works at WB and Legendary

This past weekend was crazy for films, with Dune finally hitting theaters after multiple delays due to the ongoing pandemic. Dune was immediately met with praise from critics and fans alike and opened to $40 million at the domestic box office this weekend. Fans have become increasingly anxious for the continuation of the franchise as the film begins with the reveal that this is only the first part in what could be a potential franchise for Warner Brothers and Legendary.

Luckily, fans appear to have received their wish. Legendary took to Twitter to officially confirm that Dune: Part Two is officially in the works. The sequel is set to hit theaters on October 20th, 2023, and will be exclusive to theaters, unlike Part One‘s day and date release on HBO Max.

Director Denis Villeneuve had this to say about the sequel announcement and how happy he is to continue telling Herbert’s story.

“I just received news from Legendary that we are officially moving forward with Dune: Part Two, It was a dream of mine to adapt Frank Herbert’s Dune and I have the fans, the cast, and crew, Legendary and Warner Bros. to thank for supporting this dream. This is only the beginning.”

Legendary also commented on the news following its big announcement

“Legendary is pleased to officially move forward with Dune: Part Two…once again based on the amazing books written by Frank Herbert, We would not have gotten to this point without the extraordinary vision of Denis and the amazing work of his talented crew, the writers, our stellar cast, our partners at Warner Bros., and of course the fans! Here’s to more Dune.”

No official casting has been announced but Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Javier Bardem, and Stellan Skarsgård will most likely be reprising their roles in the sequel.

  • ‘The Trench’ Was Going To Be a Black Manta Solo Project

‘The Trench’ Was Going To Be a Black Manta Solo Project

Just a few years ago, as the DC Extended Universe was still blooming, there was an urge to get things done as fast as possible when it came to building its shared universe. WB became quite impulsive with its projects, green lighting spinoff after spinoff, most of which would never come to fruition.

Hot off the success of Aquaman, WB announced development had begun on a spinoff focusing on the Trench with undersea monsters featuring in the film aptly titled The Trench. News on the project would go dark, though, and eventually, the film would be shelved alongside Ava Duvernay‘s New Gods

Little was known about the Trench film, aside from that it would feature the frightening fish-men of the deep; the same fish-men that would eventually aid Arthur and Mera in the fight against Orm, earning Arthur the throne. However, today James Wan took to Instagram to clear up a bit of what the trench would’ve featured. He revealed that it was originally intended to be a Black Manta solo project, likely featuring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II reprising his role as David Kane in the film.

While the project isn’t in development as of right now, critical and fan reception to the Aquama and The Lost Kingdom, featuring Manta in a much larger role, could determine if that film has legs and could be revived. The film could be something very different for DC, taking the comic book film genre in a new direction with a horror approach, one of director James Wan‘s specialties in film.

The project was initially set to be written by Noah Gardner and Aidan Fitzgerald, with Wan set to produce the project. No director or casting was ever announced, aside from Mateen likely leading the film.

  • Brendan Fraser Joins ‘Batgirl’ as Firefly

Brendan Fraser Joins ‘Batgirl’ as Firefly

The resurgence of Brendan Fraser continues with DC as it is being reported that he has joined the upcoming HBO Max film Batgirl as the main antagonist. Sources at Deadline believe Fraser will be playing popular Batman rogue, Firefly, a retired and disgruntled firefighter turned mad arsonist. Casting for the role listed an actor in the 50-60s age range to play a “disgruntled former firefighter.”

With Firefly set to be the main villain of the Batgirl solo film, it seems likely that the project will be taking inspiration from Scott Beatty and Chuck Dixon’s Batgirl: Year One mini-series. The story saw Barbara Gordon rejected from both the Gotham City police department and the FBI, deciding to take her love of superheroes, especially Black Canary. The most interesting bit is that the story features Firefly as the big bad, alongside Killer Moth. While there has yet to be any word of Killer Moth in the film, the pieces seem to be fitting together well.

With the debut of Jurnee Smollet as Black Canary, it seems possible they could include Barbara’s love of Canary in the film and eventually lead her to join the Birds of Prey within the DCEU, and maybe even lead to an appearance of the team in the film.

Batgirl currently has no set release date but will release sometime in 2022. The current cast includes Leslie Grace, Jacob Scipio, and JK Simmons who will be reprising the role of Commissioner Gordon and Barbra Gordon’s father in the upcoming film.

  • New Leaked ‘Black Adam’ Photos Tease Hawkman’s Full Costume

New Leaked ‘Black Adam’ Photos Tease Hawkman’s Full Costume

DC Fandome came and went, leaving fans with a lot of new things to talk about regarding the upcoming slate of projects over at Warner Bros. Among them is the tightly anticipated adaptation of Black Adam. The panel revealed our first look at the film, its opening sequence, as well as small teases of the four core members of the Justice Society of America. Sadly, we didn’t get a clear look at their costumes, but rather just a few glimpses.

Luckily, it seems that more images have found their way online giving us a clearer look at Hawkman’s symbol, whose iconic Hawk was only briefly shown. The difference with this look is that they’ve given Hawkman grey armor beneath the emblem and strap. New photos from behind the scenes of the film offer a much better look at Hawkman’s chest piece, alongside a pair of armored burgundy pants, and gloves fit with talons.

Hawkman looks to be sporting an accurate adaptation of his comic book design with all the pieces of his costume we’ve seen so far. We did get a glimpse earlier in the month at his costume from some set photos. So, at this point we’ve seen enough. We just have to wait for an official look at all the pieces put together.

Hawkman will be played by Aldis Hodge in the upcoming film, which is currently set to release only in theaters on July 29th, 2022. The film will feature the debut of Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam alongside Pierce Brosnan, Quintessa Swindel, Noah Centineo, Sarah Shahi, and Marwan Kenzari.
