DC FANDOME: BTS Footage of ‘Aquaman’ Sequel Revealed

The hotly anticipated sequel to 2018’s Aquaman is currently in production as both James Wan and Jason Momoa return for another deep sea outing. Not much is known about the film, aside from the talent that’s joined the cast including Jani Zhao, Indya Moore, Vincent Reagan and Pilou Asbæk. While the film is still over a year away, DC Fandom just blessed us with a great BTS reel showcasing concept art and other goodies from the seven seas.

It’s clear from these images that Momoa and his team weren’t kidding when they said this movie would be a lot bigger in scope and scale. One look at the concept art of those giant insects is indicative of just how crazy this sequel is ramping up to be. That image of Black Manta looks very exciting as well.

RUMOR: Dead Boy Detectives Pilot finds Director, Will Not Recast Roles

Doom Patrol follows a constant revolving door of characters and guest stars. Some are more permanent than others, but a few in particular became quite the instant hit. This season saw the introduction of the Dead Boy Detective Agency with Charles Rowland, Edwin Paine, and Crystal Palace making their way to Doom Manor to help bring the team back from purgatory, while courting their past. While the episode only offered glimpses, the newly introduced characters might have a bright future ahead of them.

Before the second season of Doom Patrol debuted, it was announced that HBO Max had ordered a pilot for a possible Dead Boy Detectives spin-off. One detail that caught quite a few fans off guard was that the project was looking to possibly recast the lead roles. These roles had already been previously filled by Ty Tennant, Sebastian Croft, and Madelyn Horcher. It was a strange move by HBO Max to introduce these characters only to drop them right after. Luckily, a new report indicates that series will, in fact, not recast the lead roles.

The new rumor by Hollywood North Buzz also notes that Lee Toland Krueger would direct the pilot. He might be familiar with CW watchers, as Krueger is best know for his work on Superman and Lois. Not just that, he is also currently set to direct a few episodes for the upcoming Green Lantern HBO Max series. So, he might’ve made DC’s TV projects his go-to choice.

  • What to Expect at 2021’s DC FanDome

What to Expect at 2021’s DC FanDome

DC FanDome is set to hit tomorrow, October 16th. The 2020 event was one of the good things that came out of the pandemic, allowing fans across the world to tune in to live streams from the biggest names that DC had to offer. With the event returning this year were set to get some closer looks at many upcoming projects like The Batman, Peacemaker, Black Adam, Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom, The Flash, and Shazam: Fury of The Gods.

    The Batman

Matt Reeves shares photo from new The Batman trailer | Batman News

After shaking FanDome to its core and breaking the internet after that trailer drop, Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson will return to FanDome 2022 to do it all over again. A trailer has already been confirmed to premiere at the event, one that comes after the film completed production, unlike the first trailer that was comprised of things from just 25% of the film. Fans can probably expect to get a closer look behind the scenes of the film and how Reeves created Gotham in his own unique vision.

    Black Adam

Black Adam Filming Begins This Week, Reveals Dwayne Johnson

After 14 years, Dwayne Johnson will finally don the lightning bolt as the fallen champion of the wizard Shazam. We can expect to get a real good look at the film but I don’t think a trailer is in order just yet. We will probably get our first real look at Johnson in the Black Adam Suit alongside the Justice Society of America. But who knows, The Rock loves to put on a show just like he did last year, so we could get a bit of footage from the upcoming blockbuster.

    Peacemaker

The First 'Peacemaker' Footage From HBO Max's John Cena Series - Flipboard

After the release of The Suicide Squad, James Gunn and John Cena are another pair that’ll be making their return to FanDome this year. Peacemaker is set to debut sometime in January with Cena reprising his role as Christopher Smith, the man who won’t let anyone get in the way of his quest for peace. A trailer for this HBO Max series seems to be in order as its release is only just a few months away. The series was written by Gunn, who also directed the bulk of the episodes.

    Doom Patrol and Titans

Doom Patrol' Renewed for Season 3 at HBO Max - Variety

Both series are currently in their third seasons and will wrap both up within the next few weeks. There’s been no word on if one or both or neither series had been officially picked up for season 4, but it seems like if one or both were to score a renewal, it would be announced during their respective panels.

    The Flash

Andy Muschietti shares a look at the new suit from The Flash

While The Flash still has a little over a year before it releases, that doesn’t mean we can’t get a bit of a tease of what’s in store as the film just recently wrapped production. Both Andy and Barbra Muschietti have confirmed a surprise is in store for fans at FanDome, which could be a behind-the-scenes look at the film as well as our first looks at Ezra Miller, Sasha Calle, and Michael Keaton suited up.

    Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2022) - IMDb

There might not be much here as the project is currently still in production, but we could expect a look behind the scenes look at the film and a little insight into just what the Lost Kingdom is. It would be great to get a new look at some new as well as some returning characters in the film as well.

    Shazam: Fury of The Gods

New Shazam 2 Set Photos Tease Massive Superhero Street Fight - Den of Geek

The sequel to the hit 2018 film Shazam has just recently finished production a few weeks ago with Zachary Levi reprising his role as the titular character. While the film is still quite some ways away we’ll probably get something like a BTS reel and maybe an official look at Lucy Liu, Helen Mirren, and Rachel Zegler as the daughters of Atlas.

Gaming:Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League

New 'Gotham Knights' Promo Teases Unannounced Batman Villain

Both were revealed at last year’s DC Fandome event, hopefully, this year we can expect a much closer look at each project, hopefully, gameplay from both projects as well as release dates. Gotham Knights was originally supposed to release sometime this year but was hit with a delay and it is unknown when the game will release, but most likely sometime early next year.

DC FanDome is a worldwide digital event that is sure to have something for everyone. DC and WB might have even more to show off this year than they did last year. With so many big-name blockbusters in the works and close to release, it’s surely going to break the internet once again.

  • ‘Batgirl’ Directors Confirm Leslie Grace Will Sport One of Her Most Divisive Looks

‘Batgirl’ Directors Confirm Leslie Grace Will Sport One of Her Most Divisive Looks

Batgirl is no exception when it comes to the Bat Family’s constant need to adjust their looks, something pioneered by their patriarch who seems to have an outfit for any occasion. Barbra Gordon has had plenty of looks over the years, but one of her most iconic has to be the Burnside suit, one that she wore throughout the Rebirth line when she moved to the Burnside district of Gotham.

We don’t know much about the upcoming Batgirl film, other than that it could be an adaption of Batgirl: Year One, but it seems we might know what she’ll look like. In a recent interview with VRTNWS, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah confirmed that Batgirl’s costume took some inspiration from the Burnside suit, confirming the character’s helmet-like cowl. The suit was the subject of much debate after it debuted in 2015.

Hopefully, we’ll get our first look at Leslie Grace in the Burnside suitl at DC FanDome. This would be the best-case scenario, especially since they’ll most likely be filming outdoors and could avoid the usual leaked set photos that show off a stunt suit and set the fandoms ablaze. Batgirl currently has no set release date but will exclusively release on HBO Max as production kicks off next month in Glasgow.

  • Report: The “Real Batman” Set to Appear in HBO Max’s ‘Batgirl’

Report: The “Real Batman” Set to Appear in HBO Max’s ‘Batgirl’

DC Fandome is right around the corner and one film fans just can’t wait to get a closer look at it the upcoming Batgirl solo film starring Leslie Grace. The film is set to start filming next month as Adil El Arbi, Bilall Fallah, and Grace are all set to attend the event, hopefully giving us a look at what’s in store for the film, and maybe even a first look at Batgirls suit.

Both Arbi and Fallah recently sat down with VRTNWS to talk all things Batgirl, and while they couldn’t give much away, they let one big thing slip. The directors were eager to confirm that Batman himself will indeed be in the film, but said they were not able to disclose which Batman would be appearing in the film, only that it was the “Real Batman”.

This could be taken in a couple of different ways and it depends on what kind of fan you are. Some consider Michael Keaton to be the epitome of Batman and to have played the most iconic version of the role. But logically speaking, the real Batman within the DCEU would be Ben Affleck’s version of the character, and it wouldn’t be an odd choice considering JK Simmons is currently set to reprise his role as Commissioner Gordon in Batgirl for the first time since Justice League. There’s also the fact that director Fallah recently teased Affleck’s version of Batman via his Instagram stories.

Batgirl currently has no set release date but will release exclusively on HBO Max. Leslie Grace and JK Simmons are currently the only talent attached to the project with production set to kickoff next month in Glasgow.

  • ‘Stargirl’ May Have Just Set Up Its Big Bad for Season 3

‘Stargirl’ May Have Just Set Up Its Big Bad for Season 3

The third season of Stargirl just recently began production after scoring an early renewal ahead of its second season premiere. Since, we’ve seen the return of Eclipso, who has abused the Justice Society of America’s member’s insecurities and fears to slowly break them. While the JSA is still struggling to take down their current threat, it seems that the most recent episode may have given us a bit of hint as to who next season’s big bad could be, and its even more obscure than their previous foes.

Filmkritik - "Stargirl": Der Trend geht zur Heldin - Wiener Zeitung Online

Courtney and Pat set off to find Jenny, the daughter of the Green Lantern. Their travel leads them to Civic City, the home of the first Justice Society of Amerca headquarters. There they found papers leading them to the Helix Institue among her things, which is a youth rehabilitation facility located. Jenny seemingly set out to find her brother Todd there. The name already might have some DC fan’s attention but it’ll get cemented when head nurse, Louise Love, calls Mister Bones to inform him that Todd has a sister, and she came looking for him.

Mister Bones is one of six children raised by Benjamin Love, who secretly injected pregnant women with a serum that would genetically alter their children. They would become Penny Dreadful, Kritter, Baby Boom, Tao Jones, Arak Wind-Walker, and the previously mentioned leader. Together they would form a supervillain group known as Helix. There’s also the story that seemingly seems abandoned in Stargirl is Yolanda’s origin, whose mother was one of Benjamin Loves test subjects.

Stargirl: DC Comics' Jade, Explained | CBR

It does seem that the team could see a bit of a revamp, as they were originally foes of Infinity Inc, a young group of heroes that are basically Stargirls current JSA. Mister Bones could be running the show alongside Louise Love, and testing on and maybe even recruiting young metahumans for a new and reimagined Helix. We shouldn’t expect Stargirl to revisit Helix this season, as they’ve got their hands full enough with Eclipso. Yet, this would leave Jennifer’s quest to find her brother unfinished, and save it for next season as Helix will definitely seemed to take an interest in her.

  • Lynda Carter Teases ‘Wonder Woman 3’ and Potential Return

Lynda Carter Teases ‘Wonder Woman 3’ and Potential Return

Wonder Woman 1984 was one of those films that got hit the hardest by the ongoing pandemic, shifting multiple release dates before becoming the first simultaneous release for HBO Max. It gave us a new look at the popular heroine while also paying tribute to the franchise’s past, as the film teased the legendary Amazon warrior, Asteria. We’d see Diana don her armor to face Cheetah in the finale before Lynda Carter would cameo as the famous warrior. She doesn’t appear until the end of the film as a great nod to fans of the original Wonder Woman series.

Her inclusion also opened up the possibility of her story continuing in the fast-tracked third entry of the franchise. In a recent interview, Lynda Carter teased director Patty Jenkin’s vision for the next installment and potentially her involvement.

Its called love is human and divine, and I think that is what we see in each other, bringing it full circle back here to your question. That is what you see, and what I see in Gal’s performance, in Pattys vision. Patty, Patty Jenkins for her Wonder Woman 1, Wonder Woman 2, and what her vision will be for Wonder Woman 3, which will be full of surprises and things that I can never reveal. Things I dont know actually, ’cause she never tells!

    Lynda Carter

Could we see the return of Carters Asteria? Perhaps the sequel will see her fighting alongside Gadot’s Diana Prince. Fans are eager to see what director Patty Jenkins has in store for Diana’s next solo outing. After being away from Themyscira, it may be time for her to return and face her destiny. Either way, we’re sure she’ll bring her A-game for what could be her final film in the Wonder Woman franchise.

  • Paul Rudd Praises Jonathan Major’s Kang in ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantamania’

Paul Rudd Praises Jonathan Major’s Kang in ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantamania’

The finale of Loki left fans with so many burning questions as to what comes next for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as the shadow of Kang the Conquerer looms over the now branching multiverse. While we have yet to only met He Who Remains, Jonathan Majors will make his return to the MCU in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantamania. Majors will finally don the mantle of the Conquerer, setting up a new era of chaos for Earth’s mightiest heroes.

In a recent interview for Ghostbusters: Afterlife, with Ant-Man himself, Paul Rudd praised Jonathan Major‘s performance as Kang The Conqueror. Obviously, Rudd remains quite silent on just what’s happening within the film but made sure to prepare audiences for what Major’s is about to bring to the MCU.

“I’ve loved everything he’s done, and I see what he’s doing in this, and I’m knocked out by it. It is really fun to bring new people into the fold, and the enthusiasm that people have is palpable.”

It’ll be interesting to see just how Kang makes his way the main timeline and why he chose that specific one. It’ll also be exciting to see how different Majors plays the role compared to how he did with He Who Remains. The upcoming third installment in the Ant-Man trilogy is currently in production in London. Most of the main cast from the first two films is returning, including Corey Stoll, who did not appear in Ant-Man and the Wasp. The film will hit theaters on Feb. 17, 2023.

  • How Joel McHale’s Starman Can Fit into ‘Stargirl’ Season 3

How Joel McHale’s Starman Can Fit into ‘Stargirl’ Season 3

Before the sophomore season even premiered, Stargirl was picked up for a third season at the CW Network, following its move from DC Universe. The Series quickly added stars one of which was the one and only Joel Mchale. Many were ecstatic to see the Community star suiting up as a Sylvester Pemberton, aka Starman. However, there was one downside to Mchale’s role in Stargirl. His character dies, almost immediately.

Starman’s presence in season 1 of Stargirl serves as more of a goal to strive towards for Courtney as she learns to wield the Cosmic Staff and live up to the heroism the Justice Society of America strived towards. At the tail end of the first season, however, we learned that Sylvester Pemberton is, in fact, not dead and has been off doing who knows what and is looking for Pat Dugan.

While we don’t know Starman’s motives and just how he survived just yet, we have to question how he can fit into a dynamic that’s become based on honoring the past and not looking back. Pemberton could serve as a sort of mentor to Courtney and the other members of the JSA, teaching them how to become better heroes, something Pat in which doesn’t have much experience. We could also see the origins of the Cosmic staff explored on-screen. It would allow viewers to learn how the staff was created, and how Courtney became its newest wielder.

After all, it’s still unknown just how the Cosmic Staff came to be, as the series has cemented Sylvester Pemberton as the first and only Starman. It has so far neglected Ted Knight’s story as the creator of the staff and the actual first Starman. If the show would like to move in the direction of Starman jumping into action once again, we could see him develop and wield the gravity rod, the precursor to the cosmic staff and would allow a similar powerset.

Joel Mchale’s return to the series as a series regular is definitely a big win, and will surely attract a community of new fans to the series. Season 2 of Stargirl is currently airing on the CW with hopefully some light shed on Starman’s fate coming soon.

  • Live-Action Adaption of ‘Wayne Family Adventures’ Currently AWOL

Live-Action Adaption of ‘Wayne Family Adventures’ Currently AWOL

Just a few weeks ago, Webtoon released the first few digital issues for Batman: Wayne Family Adventures, a webcomic that focused on the everyday life of members of the Batfamily. The comic was an instant hit, giving fans of the characters a peer into the personal lives at Wayne Manor of some of their favorite characters like Cassandra Cain, Duke Thomas, Damian Wayne, Dick Grayson, Stephanie Brown, Jason Todd and Tim Drake.

Fans were excited to learn that the comic was already being developed into a live-action project by Ismahawk studios. The series had kicked off pretty fast, setting a full cast as well as a premier as soon as mid-October. The first look at the project by IGN revealed that, along with the first look at the mini-series, a trailer would debut soon for the project, but that trailer never came. It seems the project has moved a little too fast, associating itself with DC Comics when it never actually was. The promotional stills for the series, and any mention of it, have been wiped from Ismahawk’s social media accounts, but IGN still has their article up.

Collider reached out for an update on the project when a trailer didn’t drop as scheduled. Ismahawk Studios issued a statement regarding the series soon after., confirming that was not an official adaption and was merely inspired by the Webcomic.

“Not an official live-action adaptation of the Batman: Wayne Family Adventures webcomic, and was not announced by DC or WEBTOON. The video was intended to be a short-form series created by Ismahawk, inspired by the webcomic.”

The three-part mini-series was expected to debut this month. It remains to be seen whether or not that’ll still occur.
