First Look at Freddie Stroma’s Vigilante Costume in ‘Peacemaker’ BTS Image

Before The Suicide Squad is even out, the upcoming spin-off show Peacemaker has already wrapped filming. The show will debut in January on HBO Max. It’ll see the return of John Cena as the titular character of Christopher Smith, the man who will do anything in the pursuit of peace. Plot details for the series remain unknown as the show could be adapting the Janus Directive storyline. In it, we follow Peacemaker’s origins as he faces off against Adrian Chase, also known as the Vigilante. The small story ends up involving multiple shady organizations that all lead back to Amanda Waller.

Originally the series would’ve seen Chris Conrad as Adrian Chase, but he would ultimately get recast due to creative differences. Freddie Stroma took over the role after Conard’s exit. As the season finishes up production, a new photo featuring the entire cast has given us our first look at the actor’s suit. He is sporting the character’s classic blue and white color pallet with a V-shape design on the chest.

For those unfamiliar with the character, Adrian Chase is the second person to don the mantle of Vigilante. His first appearance was in The New Teen Titans #23 all the way back in 1982. Chase was an Attorney in New York City who went down a more violent path of justice following the murder of his wife and kids at the hands of mobsters. He would come face to face with Peacemaker after Smith murdered one of his closest friends in his absence. Chase, so terribly out of shape, would be beaten by Peacemaker and unmasked live on television, ending his career as the vigilante. It’ll be interesting to see if the HBO MMax series follows the same structure.

  • EXCLUSIVE: Tara Strong Had No Idea She Was Auditioning for ‘Loki’s Miss Minutes

EXCLUSIVE: Tara Strong Had No Idea She Was Auditioning for ‘Loki’s Miss Minutes

With Loki set to wrap its first season up later this week, fans are eager to uncover the secrets of the Time Variance Authority. We were just as confused as Loki on what was going on when he got dragged into the organization’s offices for the first time. Luckily, Miss Minutes, who is a living animated clock just bursting with southern charm, explained their origin.

Minutes is voiced by none other than the famous voice actress Tara Strong. She is no stranger to superhero stories, as she worked on Teen Titans, Powerpuff Girls, Ben 10, and famously voices Harley Quinn in many different shows. In a recent interview with our very own Charles Murphy, Strong revealed just how different the audition process behind this project was compared to others.

You know initially in the audition, when I get an audition it’ll have a drawing of the character, a character description, a show bible with what this world was all about, and I didn’t get any of that for Miss Minutes. In fact, I called my agent to learn more about her, because everything I get feeds into how I go into creating an audition and I auditioned first in my home studio and they couldn’t get anymore information. I didn’t even know what show I was auditioning for.

With so much mystery surrounding this process, she mentioned how she navigated her way through this process and how Miss Minutes was created. It seems she and director Kate Herron built upon her initial pitch without knowing fully what character she is going to play.

So, I’ll take between ten minutes or three hours ’till I get it exactly how I want it and they said to try one with an accent. So, I did this sort of Southern Belle and they really liked that and then it wasn’t ’till I booked it that I knew what it was and then working on the Zoom with Kate and them playing me which audition they really liked and we worked on that collabratively to get it exactly where Miss Minutes is now.

Strong‘s charming take on the character sure won fans over as she quickly became loved by fans of the show. We’ll see if we get more of Miss Minutes in the upcoming finale, but with her origin still remaining a mystery, there’s still a lot we can learn about the character.

  • Sarah Shahi Confirms Intergang for ‘Black Adam’

Sarah Shahi Confirms Intergang for ‘Black Adam’

Black Adam could be considered one of comic’s greatest anti-heroes. while more often than not portrayed as a villain he has his conflictions. Black Adam comes from the Middle Eastern country of Kahndaq, a nation that was once a “melting pot of cultures, wealth, and magic” yet the nation was built on the backs of slaves. Adam was given the powers of the wizard Shazam and used them to break the chains of those beaten down by those who stood above them. When Adam returned to the modern-day he would find people oppressed and enslaved and would do whatever it took to free people from the chains of those who abuse their power.

In a new interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Actress Sarah Shahi, who signed on to play Adrianna Tomaz in the film, confirmed that Intergang would be playing a big role in the film as a primary antagonist.

“I play a character named Adrianna, and she’s a freedom fighter that’s leading this big resistance against an evil, malicious group called Intergang,”

Shahi went onto explain just how important she took this role and how she looked to break a stereotype amongst middle eastern actors with this movie

“I’m Middle Eastern; I’m Persian. And there’s not a lot of Middle Eastern representation out there… There are other Middle Eastern actors that I know who are either getting cast in terrorist roles or they’re really being stereotyped by how they look. So I’m hoping that, on some level, Black Adam will help break open that stereotype.”

Intergang makes themselves a target of Adam in the New 52 when they offer him, Adrianna, alongside $2,000,000 in African gold to try and entice him into allowing them to use Kahndaq to run weapons through. Adam in return frees Adrianna and violently kills a member of Intergang named Noose. With Adrianna at his side, Adam learned to become a better leader and more passionate with her help.

  • New ‘What If’ Funko Pop Teases King Killmonger vs. Ultron

New ‘What If’ Funko Pop Teases King Killmonger vs. Ultron

Marvel Studios is set to begin its first foray into animation with What if. It’ll be an animated anthology series that follows multiple alternate outcomes of important events within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We’ve heard about just a few episodes that will feature the return of Ultron, a Gamora who never joined the Guardians of the Galaxy, and even an interesting alliance between Tony Stark and Erik Killmonger. Now, a new Funko Pop from the upcoming series featuring Michael B. Jordan‘s character may offer a closer look at the events of one of two episodes.

The Funko gives him the title King Killmonger, as he is wearing the golden jaguar suit once again. What’s most interesting is him holding what looks to be a decapitated Ultron head. It’s unclear just what is happening here but it looks like it could have something to do with an episode in which Ultron won or the episode in which Killmonger and Stark will work together. The former will feature a post-apocalyptic wasteland in which the Avengers lost to Ultron. He succeeds and drops Sokovia to turn Earth to dust. That episode is set to be led by Black Widow, and no other characters have been confirmed to join her in the aftermath.

What If? currently has no set release date but will exclusively release on Disney+. The series will feature the return of many notable actors and actresses from the MCU like Mark Ruffalo, Josh Brolin, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L Jackson, Natalie Portman, and of course Michael B. Jordan. The series will also feature the debut of Jeffrey Wright as Uatu the Watcher in the MCU.

  • RUMOR: ‘She Hulk’ Will Break the Fourth Wall in Upcoming Series

RUMOR: ‘She Hulk’ Will Break the Fourth Wall in Upcoming Series

Jennifer Walters is set to make her MCU debut in her very own solo series coming exclusively to Disney+. The series will follow Walters in her day-to-day life as both a monster in the courtroom and in a fight. The series is set to star Tatiana Maslany, best known for her work in Orphan Black, as Jennifer Walters alongside Ginger Gonzaga, Renée Elise Goldsberry, and Jameela Jamil, who will reportedly play Titania. Mark Ruffalo is returning as Professor Hulk and Tim Roth will reprise his role as The Abomination.

A new rumor from the Direct, indicates that She-Hulk will feature Walters breaking the fourth wall throughout the series and talking to the audience. With that Walters will also reportedly be aware that she is in fact a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The character is no stranger to these types of antics, frequently breaking the fourth wall in past runs and talking directly to the audience as the story went on.

It’s unknown if the series will serve up some sort of explanation for Walter’s comments to the audience or it will just not be acknowledged like Deadpools sudden outburst towards the audience in both Deadpool and Deadpool 2. The series has been described as a ten-episode half-hour legal comedy that looks to adapt some inspiration from John Byrnes’s run on the character where she first broke the first wall. No release date has been set for She-Hulk as production continues.

  • Rumor: First ‘Batgirl’ Casting Details Tease Commissioner Gordon Recast

Rumor: First ‘Batgirl’ Casting Details Tease Commissioner Gordon Recast

One of the films that has been in development the longest for WB and DC is Batgirl. The film has been yet another one stuck in development hell, at one point having Joss Whedon aboard the project to write and direct. Following Whedon’s exit, the studio tapped writer Christina Hodson, known for writing Bumblebee and Birds of Prey, as well as the upcoming Flash film, to rewrite Batgirl. Development on the film was quite silent until it was announced that Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah would be directing. With directors secured and a finished script, the only other next step is to fill out your cast, and it seems that could be coming soon.

In a new report from the Illuminerdi, new casting descriptions for multiple characters have been revealed. The first description is obviously Barbra Gordon, with the studio looking for an actress in their early 20s to play Batgirl. The second description is looking for an actor in his 50s and described as a strong supporting character. The final casting description is looking for an actor in their 50s-60s to play a “disgruntled former firefighter.” This last casting call is almost identical to that of Garfield Lynns, aka Firefly, a notorious arsonist within Gotham City and one of Batman’s many rogues.

The biggest takeaway from these casting calls could be the incoming recast of JK Simmons as Commissioner Gordon. Simmons previously played Gordon in both Justice League and Zack Snyder’s Justice League in which he played a very minor role. It’s unknown just where this film will be taking place in DC continuity, but will most likely take place in a post-Flash DCEU, with whatever changes that film makes.

  • ‘The Suicide Squad’: James Gunn Reveals the Villains Who Didn’t Make the Cut

‘The Suicide Squad’: James Gunn Reveals the Villains Who Didn’t Make the Cut

When it got announced a few years ago the James Gunn would be writing and directing the next Suicide Squad film, many fans knew he would dig deep within the depths of the DC Universe for the best possible candidates. For a while, we could only speculate. Set photos would only offer a glimpse at the roster. It wasn’t until DC Fandome that we officially got confirmation on who joined the infamous squad. Gunn lived up to the expectations. He is using characters like Javelin, Savant, Weasel, Peacemaker, Bloodsport, and even a reimagined version of Arm-Fall-Off-Boy in his film. It seems there were a lot more candidates that didn’t cut. Well, not yet, at least.

When asked by a fan via Twitter, the director opened the flood gate, revealing he’d kept a folder on his computer with candidates for the squad and shared a few that didn’t make it. In the thread, we got the confirmations that Livewire, Punch, Jewelee, Black Spider, and even Deathstroke almost appeared in the sequel. The latter has been a popular choice for fans. In the rest of the thread, he also revealed some familiar villains that include Man-Bat, Plastique, Chemo, Killer Frost, Mister Freeze, KG-Beast, GunHawk, Knockout, Rainbow Creature, and even Solomon Grundy. You can check out the Twitter thread here:

While some of these great characters didn’t make that cut, that isn’t an entirely bad thing and won’t be cut down like an overgrown lawn. If Gunn was to return for a future Suicide Squad film he’d most definitely revisit that folder for some more of the best and brightest that DC can offer.

  • Leak Offers First Look at Marvel Studios’ ‘What If’ Funko Pops

Leak Offers First Look at Marvel Studios’ ‘What If’ Funko Pops

Marvel Studios is set to release one of their first animated projects in the form of What if?, a series that will explore variants who broke out of the Sacred Timeline. We’re still eagerly awaiting a release date for the project as it was slated to release sometime this summer, which we should soon get when Loki ends. Recently, we’ve been learning a lot about the episodes and just who and what will be featured in each and this new promo leak from Funko gives us a brand new look at the characters before their debut in the series, so make some room on that shelf for your inevitable purchases.

The upcoming wave of pop figures features five figures, not listing any potential retailer exclusives. The first figures look to be Captain Carter, joined by the Hydra Stomper, piloted by Steve Rogers. We also get a look at T’Challa as Star-lord alongside what could be our best looks yet at Gamora, Daughter of Thanos, and Doctor Strange Supreme, the evil sorcerer.

The most interesting addition here is Gamora’s new title, as she seems to have inherited the same weight of the name Thanos once held as a scourge on the galaxy. This one seems to have lived up to her father’s legacy and never joined the guardians of the galaxy. The figures currently have no set release date but look to be hitting stores now, an indication that the series could be coming soon. Fans will have to wait for official word from Marvel as to when they can expect the series though.

  • RUMOR: Renee Montoya Set to Debut in ‘Batwoman’ Season 3

RUMOR: Renee Montoya Set to Debut in ‘Batwoman’ Season 3

Batwoman has had an interesting two season run. Last year it was announced that the star of the show, Ruby Rose, would be departing the series after only one season, with no real answer given. Many attributed this exit to the injuries Rose had on set or possibly just not merging well with working on a TV series after having a career that was almost exclusively in film. The series quickly found its new lead in Javicia Leslie, who went on to play a brand new character named Ryan Wilder. Following the show’s second season premiere, it was quickly renewed for a third season with Leslie returning for another go of it.

The third season is set to begin production sometime this month and, according to a new rumor from the Illuminerdi, it seems set to introduce another popular friend of the Batfamily: Renee Montoya.

The studio s looking to cast an LGBTQ+ Latinx or Afro-Latinx actress in their Mid-30’s. The character is described as a former GCPD officer who left the force due to how the department was treating the city’s marginalized citizens. Montoya had found herself in charge of the “Freaks Division” within the Mayor’s office. Renee is described to be on a personal and enigmatic mission to clean up the streets of Gotham by any means necessary. In the comics, Montoya is most known for becoming the second Question, a previous mantle held by Vic Sage.

It definitely sounds like the series is setting Montoya down the road of becoming a vigilante and expanding its roster of Batfamily members after Luke Fox picked up the mantle of Batwing in the second season’s finale. Batwoman season 3 is set to premiere on October 13th, 2021 only on the CW.
