REPORT: ‘Ms. Marvel’ Likely Delayed to an Early 2022 Premiere

After a long wait, we finally got our first look at Ms. Marvel’s full costume for the upcoming Disney+ series. It included her brand-new ability that seems to envelop her hand in purple energy. We still have no idea if she will remain an Inhuman and keep her Embiggen abilities, but there are some changes heading our way.  Sadly, it seems like we’ll also have to wait longer due to a report by veteran television insider Matt Webb Mitovich from TVLine. In his latest Matt’s Inside Line entry, he shared the following insight on the series potentially delayed-release:

I asked around and it is very safe to assume at this point that Ms. Marvel is now on track for an early 2022 premiere.

There has been a lot of speculation that this delay was imminent due to Hawkeye getting an official release this November. It’s uncertain what it might mean for the original line-up, but there’s a chance that her series requires more effects work and, as a result, got pushed back. We know very little about the series, with rumors all over the place throughout the last few months.

There’s still a chance we might get a surprise release, especially with the series getting a brief sizzle reel during Disney’s Investors Day last December. If it does end up releasing in 2022, it may take WandaVision’s January slot. It’ll likely run six weeks. So, it might not affect any plans for next year’s release schedule, which Marvel Studios is still keeping close to the chest. Here’s hoping we get some insight in the coming months into what their plans are for 2022.

  • ‘Ms. Marvel’ Promo Art Confirms Rumored New Abilities

‘Ms. Marvel’ Promo Art Confirms Rumored New Abilities

Ms.Marvel is reportedly set to air sometime this year and it seems like merchandise for the series is already beginning to trickle out. Rumors have swirled around Kamala’s power set and it seems some new promo art from the upcoming series has confirmed a rumor we’ve been hearing for quite some time now.

This new piece of merchandise featuring Iman Vellani suited up as Ms.Marvel seems to confirm that this version of Kamala will indeed wield purple construct abilities that allow her to conjure things up the way a Green Lantern does. The rumor from a while back stated that the bangle Kamala wears on her arm allows her to conjure this purple energy that she uses to fight crime, and here, it looks to have taken a crystallized form. The extent of these powers remains unknown, and how they even manifest from the bangle is a mystery.

It’s unknown if Ms. Marvel will still have her classic embiggening ability from the comics, but the power set could be reimagined so that the constructs act as her stretching and embiggening abilities and act similar to her original powers. Fan reception towards those rumors has been very divisive for the most part and this confirmation will surely spark more conversation about it. With no release date in sight, it’ll be interesting to see if the series will release this year, or makes its way to early next year,

  • ‘MS. MARVEL’ Merch Hits Online Stores Ahead of Upcoming Release

‘MS. MARVEL’ Merch Hits Online Stores Ahead of Upcoming Release

With Marvel Studios Disney Plus streaming series Loki having completed its run, fans are wondering what the next live action Marvel Studios series will debut and when to expect it. Thanks to some t-shirts becoming available at Hot Topic, we probably have an answer to one of those questions and a pretty good idea for another. Ms. Marvel shirts have gone online for order indicating that we can probably expect Disney to follow their original plan and release Ms. Marvel next.

Ms. Marvel has always been next up for Disney Plus despite fans’ beliefs to the contrary. Last December during their Investor Day extravaganza, Marvel Studios released a fact sheet listing their properties in chronological order. That sheet showed Ms. Marvel and Hawkeye as late-2021 releases with Ms. Marvel coming first. While changes are always a part of the Hollywood machine and have already been made to the schedule (Loki moved by a month and Blade by a year), there has been nothing to indicate the order of these two series would be altered. In fact, it still makes a lot of sense for Hawkeye to come out in November and end it’s run before Christmas. If we were set to see Hawkeye next instead of Ms. Marvel, this article would include Hawkeye merch and it sure does not. While there’s no clear cut pattern for it yet, merch for the previous D+ series seems to have been popping up online an average of 2-3 months ahead of release, so we might be looking at a September or October release for Ms. Marvel, should that pattern hold.

Ms. Marvel is set to introduce audiences to a new version of Marvel Comics character Kamala Khan, played by Iman Vellani, to the Marvel Cinematic Multiverse and will stream exclusively on Disney Plus this year.

  • Connecting Imaginary Dots: ‘HAWKEYE’ Could Be Aiming for a November Release

Connecting Imaginary Dots: ‘HAWKEYE’ Could Be Aiming for a November Release

CONNECTING IMAGINARY DOTS ARE PIECES WE WRITE HERE THAT ALLOW US TO BE WHAT WE ALL TRULY ARE: FANS. THESE SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN AS SCOOPS, EXCLUSIVES OR FACTS; JUST SPECULATION ABOUT THE THINGS FOR WHICH WE ALL SHARE A GREAT PASSION.

Loki is winding down and we finally have a start date for Marvel Studios first animated series, What If…? but MCU fans are always keeping one eye on the future. On that note, the release dates of two other Marvel Studios streaming series due out this year, Ms. Marvel and Hawkeye, are a constant topic of conversation among fans on social media. Over the past week, sharp-eyed fans picked up a couple of hints that might not only give us a decent idea of when one will release, but also leave a perfect-sized space for another.

Just a couple of days ago, an Instagram post by Lauren Ridloff, who posed alongside Hawkeye’s Alaqua Cox, indicated that Hawkeye was set for the “Fall.”

Fall is a pretty cool season but it is defined as late-September to late-December astronomically, from September through November meteorologically and in Hollywood generally means “pre-Christmas”, so Fall doesn’t really do much. Thankfully, one of Cox’s Hawkeye co-stars, Fra Fee, who will bring Matt Fraction and David Aja’s Kazimierz Kazimierczak to life, may have given us a bit more information on when to expect the streamer.

Fee recently posted a picture of a Captain America collar on his dog and was told he had the “wrong hero” (a pretty clear reference to the fact that he’s starring in Hawkeye). Fee’s response, while interesting, certainly shouldn’t be taken as gospel at this point but might give fans a place to draw their bullseye for when to expect the Avenging Archer and Kate Bishop to hit Disney Plus.

Interestingly enough, November falls into Fall no matter which definition you choose and lines up with some previous information that was shared with Murphy’s Multiverse Patrons several months ago (my personal best GUESS is a November 17th debut). A November release for Hawkeye would also seem to indicate that the other series set for 2021, Ms. Marvel, would stream first, as indicated by Disney at their Investor Day presentation last December. So while nothing is confirmed until Disney announces it (and even then it can move, just like Loki), fans who are interested in the release dates of these projects can have a little more evidence to help them make their own guesses.

Report: ‘Ms. Marvel’ Has Wrapped Production, Slated for Late 2021 Release

Principal photography on Marvel Studios Disney Plus streaming series Ms. Marvel has wrapped in Thailand, according to a trade report. The series spent more than a month filming on location in Thailand after beginning production in Atlanta. According to the report, episodes 4 and 5 of the 6-part series were filmed overseas; according to rumors and casting information, we could expect to see Kamala bump into the Red Dagger, one of her allies in the comics, during that time.

Iman Vellani is Kamala Khan in First Ms. Marvel Sizzle Reel!

Ms. Marvel was first announced at D23 in August of 2019 and is one of the studio’s most anticipated streaming series. After a long search for their Kamala Khan, Marvel Studios cast Iman Vellani in the role in September of 2020, shortly before beginning production on the series in November. Though we’re not quite sure yet when Ms. Marvel will debut, the trade report reiterates that it is expected to stream before the end of this year. Vellani will be moving into production on The Marvels later this year.

  • Theorizing MARVEL STUDIOS’ Interconnected Storylines

    Theorizing MARVEL STUDIOS’ Interconnected Storylines

It’s been a little over three months since Marvel Studios properly kicked off its Phase 4. Both WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier are now behind us, two shows that gave us but a glimpse of what is in store in the coming years in terms of the interconnectivity between the different IPs that make up the MCU. This is something Kevin Feige himself made extremely clear this past December, during the Disney Investor Day 2020:

The Cinematic Universe weaves storylines of heroes and villains across twenty-three feature films to date, and with Disney+ we’re able to extend this way of storytelling to a new format, creating series that are connected to our theatrical releases making the MCU more immersive than ever.

As for WandaVision, it managed to bring together characters from properties that seemed somewhat foreign to its titular characters (bringing them in from ThorCaptain Marvel, and Ant-Man). The Falcon and The Winter Soldier did almost the exact opposite. It grabbed most of its main characters from the same feature (Captain America: Civil War) and continued their arcs in a way that seems to hint at them diverging into several other (new) IPs. The common ground between both approaches seems quite simple: when the story asks for it, characters will come and go from whatever property that needs them to. With this in mind, and with the number of projects Marvel Studios has already announced, it’s hard to not try and envision some of the paths the stories these characters might take us on.

The existing connective tissue between properties is stronger with some than with others, even though Marvel Studios will always end up surprising us one way or another. But most of the more realistic theorizing (if there even is such a thing), taking into account the information that has already come out regarding casts, plots, and so on, seems to hint at a clear/not clear separation between what are the military-powered, skill-driven heroes and the more mystic and cosmic side of the MCU. So being, we’ll now focus on the first of these two groups.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier seems to be at the heart of the stories we might end up exploring on this side of the spectrum. With Karli Morgenthau being one of the few main characters to have (apparently) died, all the others are now ready to move on, each doing their own thing. With Sam Wilson as Captain America, he seems like a given to star in the upcoming fourth installment of the Captain America series. As for Bucky Barnes, with a Nomad series apparently in development, Barnes seems like a perfect fit. As for James “War Machine” Rhodes, he might now become the direct link to Iron Man’s legacy Riri Williams comes into contact with in Ironheart, before both move into Armor Wars, where they could be met by Sharon Carter in her newfound MCU role. Black Widow will introduce us to Yelena Belova who can seamlessly move on to Hawkeye (even if just to attend a memorial service), where Echo will be show up before staring in her own show.

Shifting our attention to the other side of the diagram, we find several connections between shows that have already been confirmed. Monica Rambeau will be back in the franchise where she was first introduced, where she will be met by Kamala Khan who will have already been introduced in the Ms. Marvel series. Both might be met in The Marvels by Talos, who will also have a role to play in the upcoming Secret Invasion alongside Nick Fury. As to Wanda Maximoff, now the Scarlet Witch, she is certain to continue her story in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness which may become the epicenter of every upcoming property dealing with the Multiverse. Loki and Spider-Man: Far From Home seem like projects that are likely to have strong connections to the second Doctor Strange feature for obvious plot reasons, at the same time as they connect through other storylines to yet another set of properties. With the information coming out of Loki that Gugu Mbatha-Raw will be playing Judge Renslayer (meaning that almost certainly that makes her Ravonna Renslayer) it becomes highly likely that Kang will make an appearance, ahead of his already highlighted presence in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, played by the brilliant Jonathan Majors.

These stories alone are certain to keep Marvel gaining momentum for years to come, but what seems to be the endgame here? Establishing new properties where characters from all over manage to meet for the first time, bringing together story threads from all sides of the MCU, certainly seems like a possibility. Projects that haven’t been announced as that might somewhat spoil the plots leading up to them. It should be no coincidence that a number of upcoming projects will seamlessly allow for the introduction of Young Avengers members, much like WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier managed to do with Tommy and Billy Maximoff, and Eli Bradley, respectively. Kate Bishop is already confirmed to be debuting in Hawkeye, and the rest of the team will probably soon follow, with Teddy perhaps being introduced in Secret Invasion, America Chavez in Doctor Strange 2, and Cassie Lang returning, as Stature, in Quantumania. Therefore, a Young Avengers series/movie should definitively be in the works bringing together their individual storylines. Another team being put together, even though a much different one, should be the focus of the Thunderbolts. With Baron Zemo and Abomination brought back, Taskmaster (the mantle) surviving Black Widow, and with Ghost still alive after Ant-Man and the Wasp, there is no reason for it not to be in the cards. Another feature that could serve as a continuation to John Walker’s story, maybe even bringing Yelena into the mix, and perhaps managing to dig up an Osborn to lead them, is The Dark Avengers. Marvel Studios knows that they can’t top the Avengers team they built up until Avengers: Endgame, so this focus on alternate teams, some of dubious character, would certainly be welcomed as a great change of pace.

There are a few projects that have already been announced that played no part in this theory. For all I know they might end up becoming the most crucial chapters of the MCU going forward. The Fantastic Four, due to their relevance, or the Eternals, due to their scope, certainly have that ability. But for now, this is it. Maybe in a couple of months, the script will be flipped and a new article will be in the works.

  • ‘Ms. Marvel’: Set Photos Reveal First Look at Iman Vellani in Full Costume

‘Ms. Marvel’: Set Photos Reveal First Look at Iman Vellani in Full Costume

We’ve been waiting a long time for our first look at Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel in full-costume. In one of the first set photos, we got her in a Halloween costume inspired by Captain Marvel. Well, the set photos have finally found their way online, as Just Jared has shared our first official look at the actress in full Ms. Marvel gear on the set of the Disney+ show.

As we aren’t allowed to share these images, you can check out the images directly on Just Jared.

It is our best look yet at the iconic costume and it also seems to strongly match the drawings from one of the directors. Yet, there is one detail that is quite different. She isn’t wearing a purple scarf but the red one we know from her comic. perhaps this takes place after she meets Red Dagger and receives it from him.

Overall, the costume looks quite a bit more modern. So, we might see a homemade one at one point in the series. Even in the Marvel’s Avengers game, her first costume design was based on a burkini. So, it might develop as she grows into her powers. We don’t know yet how they will portray her Embiggen abilities and if they might explain how her costume doesn’t rip when she grows in size. We cannot wait until we get more footage, as we got a brief glimpse at the series in a small sizzle reel during Disney’s Investors Day.

  • RUMOR: First ‘Ms. Marvel’ Costume Tease Could Hint at Her Gaining a New Ability

RUMOR: First ‘Ms. Marvel’ Costume Tease Could Hint at Her Gaining a New Ability

Here’s a rather interesting coincidence. One of Ms. Marvel‘s directors, Bilall Fallah, shared a drawing of the young superheroine on his Instagram. He is taking over directing duties for at least one episode alongside his Bad Boys for Life co-director, Adil El Arbi. Now, the design of Ms. Marvel is pretty iconic and is easily recognized by many fans. So, we were rather surprised when the character is sporting a purple scarf in the latest image rather than her usual red one. Luckily, user @sayyidbentley was able to grab the Instagram Story image before it expired.

Now, purple is a rather curious choice that is new to her usual color palette in the comics. It could be a visual decision that might tie to something in their story. We also see that she has her golden bangle on the arm. It just seems to be slightly smaller than the usual designs, but that could be out of practicality. Now, a recent rumor in combination with this purple scarf may be hinting at a considerable change for the character and add some validity to it We have to take every rumor with a grain of salt, but it hints at Kamala gaining a new ability. She will use a variety of constructs that connect to her bangle in some form or another.

Canadian actress cast as Muslim hero Ms Marvel

Now, Kamala doesn’t have these abilities in the comics, and it would be in addition to her Inhuman Embiggen powers. We do see the mentioned bangle in the design. Her purple scarf could add to the rumor, as these constructs supposedly also have the same color. Its validity is a bit questionable, but the director’s tease of the costume could give it some credence.

There is one more hint that purple will play a key role in the Disney+ series. During Disney’s Investors Day, we got a brief sizzle reel for the project. If you pay close attention, you’ll notice that the newly designed “S” in the logo switches from purple to gold at the end of the sizzle reel. She also actively wears the color during some of the footage.

Everything We Know About MS. MARVEL on Disney+ - Nerdist

Ms. Marvel will release in 2021. So, we might get our first look at the series in the upcoming months, which will hopefully offer a glimpse of these new abilities and how they might tie into the character. It would be a rather daring move to move away that far from the character’s comic depictions. For now, we can only take it as a rumor and see if we get more hints in the future.

  • ‘Ms. Marvel’: Alyy Khan Joining Thailand Production of Disney+ Series

‘Ms. Marvel’: Alyy Khan Joining Thailand Production of Disney+ Series

Ms. Marvel has been adding to its cast as it continues production in Thailand. Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first Muslim-American superhero is expanding the franchise in new and interesting ways. We just covered the rumor that Pakistani veteran actress Samina Ahmed joining the cast, as it was revealed that she was filming a Hollywood production in Thailand by her husband. It looks like one more actor was revealed to be joining the production, as in an interview with Film Inquiry, A Mighty Heart star, Alyy Khan, revealed he is joining a Marvel production.

A couple of interesting things. I’m hoping to be traveling to do the Marvel gig soon. Other than that The Serpent is still on air, so do try and watch and enjoy that.

He later goes on to confirm that it is indeed Ms. Marvel and even talks briefly about the quarantine before he can join the production.

Yes, it should be fun. [chuckles] I was keen to be a part of that, so let’s see what happens. Travelling to Thailand and big quarantine periods, the world is still a bit of a mess right now but fingers crossed we can move around soon

The Pakistani actor has quite an extensive filmography that includes productions with Hollywood, Bollywood, and Lollywood. He has recently appeared in Bassam Tariq‘s Mogul Mowgli alongside Riz Ahmed. He also has a starring role in BBC’s serial killer biopic The Serpent. It’ll be interesting to see what role he’ll have n the upcoming Marvel Disney+ series.

  • RUMOR: Pakistani Veteran Actress Samina Ahmed May Have Joined ‘Ms. Marvel’

RUMOR: Pakistani Veteran Actress Samina Ahmed May Have Joined ‘Ms. Marvel’

A few days ago, The Times of India and India Today reported that Bollywood actor Farhan Akhtar had joined a Marvel project. He was filming the project in Bangkok, Thailand, which gave credence to it likely being Ms. Marvel. The Disney+ series has been continuing their production there as Red Dagger actor, Aramis Knight, was spotted a month ago. It looks like one more Eastern star will join the production.

Now, the Tribute has learned that the Waris actress Samina Ahmed (who is spelled as Ahmad in IMDb but covered as Ahmed in other outlets and on the Twitter handle @saminatv) is also making her Hollywood debut. They noticed a posting on Instagram where someone inquired where the actress was in a post by her husband, Manzar Sehbai. He revealed that she is shooting a Hollywood production in Thailand. She will most likely return by May 6th. It seems likely once you connect the dots that she is most likely also going to appear in the upcoming Ms. Marvel production.

Of course, there is no confirmation that the actress joined this specific production, as there is no word of it involving Marvel Studios. It just seems like an interesting coincidence that she is filming in Thailand in a Hollywood production. It seems unlikely that anything else is actively filming there for now. It’ll be interesting to see how the current shoots will also fit into the story that will be told in Ms. Marvel, which is still slated to release later this year.
