REPORT: More Character Descriptions for ‘The Boys’ Spin-Off Revealed

Amazon’s venture into superhero shows has paid off when The Boys released. It took Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson‘s iconic comic book and adapted its crude, sarcastic view on superheroism. The series was such a success that they are already working on a spin-off that focuses on the group of up-and-coming supes. It will take place in a Vought-sponsored college, which will see the dangerous combination of superpowered individuals and teenage hormones. We got our first overview of the main cast around three months ago, but it looks like Illuminerdi got their hands on some more casting details.

They are currently casting two teenagers with one being Matt, a series regular that is charming yet an “agent of chaos with the magnetism to pull it off.” The other is the Latinx 18-year old Alex, whose main goal is to make some friends at college. He will only be around in seven of the eight episodes planned for the series. Lastly, they also got their first casting details on Emma’s mother, Rebecca. She was People Magazine’s “Sexiest Supe a record 14 times” and it seems her kid entering college will leave some strife between them.

The earlier character breakdowns hinted that this family situation between Emma and Rebecca will have a strong focus in the. Craig Rosenberg will serve as showrunner with Eric Kripke acting as executive producer. Here’s hoping we finally get the official title for the spin-off in the coming weeks. There has also been no word if some cast members from the original show might also make an appearance, but with Vought’s involvement it wouldn’t be too surprising.

  • New Set Photos for ‘The Boys’ Season 3 Teases a Time Jump

New Set Photos for ‘The Boys’ Season 3 Teases a Time Jump

The Boys has built a world where superheroes have dominated the media. They pretty much appear on anything and everything Vought can license to pump out to the masses. It is all to strengthen their empire even further. The upcoming third season is sure to kick things into the next gear following the second season’s revelations surrounding Stormfront. As such, keeping up the public image will become their top priority. While the next season is still in production, new set photos tease what’s to come and how the Seven has changed since we saw them, especially now that Starlight’s name got cleared and they welcomed her back onto the team. We’ve been wondering what the next season holds and we finally got some set photos teasing some time has passed since the last season.

The first batch of set photos features a closer look at what looks to be downtown Toronto plastered with advertisements sponsored by Vought. One curious detail features Starlight on a poster for what looks to be an upcoming game show where they possibly try out to become another one of Vought’s contracted heroes. Starlight also happens to be wearing her original outfit, opposed to the one they made her wear when she initially joined the Seven.

The previous season featured what many thought would be a redemption arc for Ex-Seven member, The Deep, and by the end of the season, would learn that wasn’t the case. He’d spent all season doing what he could alongside the church of the collective to get his spot on the team back to no success. It seems that he’s moved on and written a memoir about his time on the team.

The Boys: Dreharbeiten zur 3. Staffel starten

The final advertisement seen in the set pics is for the upcoming 2024 election, one for Ted Cruz whose shares an ongoing Twitter feud with series producer Seth Rogen. While it seems like a joke at surface level, it confirms that there will be a time jump with the upcoming third season. The previous season ended in 2020, as revealed during Translucent’s funeral. A time jump could show us how the team has been operating through their new US Government contract and how they’ve adjusted to this new lifestyle.

  • ‘THE BOYS’: Laz Alonso Teases Jensen Ackles’ Dark Portrayal of Soldier Boy

‘THE BOYS’: Laz Alonso Teases Jensen Ackles’ Dark Portrayal of Soldier Boy

It’s no secret that Amazon Prime’s The Boys is one of the darker comic book adaptations out there. The show has become known for its excessive guts and gore. Don’t forget its tendency to dive headfirst into some fairly heavy topics. It seems as though the upcoming third season, which is now deep into filming, won’t be changing any of that. In fact, series star Laz Alonso is teasing that it only gets worse from here. The actor, who plays Mother’s Milk on the show, revealed in a recent interview with Collider that the new Boys episodes are only getting darker and darker. He explained:

I’ll put it to you this way. I was talking to the head makeup artist and she’s in charge of ordering the blood — that’s one of her many jobs. She told me that all of Season 2… When you talk about bulk, I don’t think they used over a gallon of blood in Season 2, believe it or not. Season 3, we’re already at three and a half gallons of blood. So that should give you a little indication of where it’s going.

Alonso also dropped some of our first new information on Jensen Ackles’ new addition to the franchise, the Captain America-like WWII “hero” known as Soldier Boy. Apparently, the former soldier will be a big reason the show’s third season takes a darker turn. He elaborated that the inclusion of the character “allowed [Kripke] to not only bring in a character historically who’s pretty dark, but it also makes all of the other ensemble Supes darker as well.” Luckily for the production team, this is exactly what fans of The Boys were hoping for.

  • How Amazon and Marvel Studios Paved the Way for ‘Fear Agent’

How Amazon and Marvel Studios Paved the Way for ‘Fear Agent’

The Marvel Cinematic Universes’ success, which itself also stood on the shoulders of giants, has made it possible for studios to take chances on superhero comic adaptations that were unlikely to see the light of day a few years back. That also includes more mature stories. Awakening such an enormous audience for this type of content has allowed new projects to be given both the budget and attract the talent they managed to bring on in their current iterations. This development resulted in a comic series, like The Boys, getting adapted to the small screen without any compromise. Amazon understood that, nowadays, the risk behind this type of project isn’t all that much.

Less than two years after The Boys premiered, Amazon and Seth Rogen‘s Point Grey Pictures tackled an Invincible adaptation continuing with this adult-oriented approach. Much like The Boys back in 2019, Invincible also received excellent reviews from critics and fans alike. It highlights that the general audience is comfortable with a more violent and adult approach when the source material also kept its integrity.

This new R-rated environment for non-Marvel and non-DC comic adaptations that the time has come for Fear Agent to step into the frame. It finally was announced in January that Amazon won the bidding war for the comic series. The concept benefits from an optimal situation to properly showcase what made it an incredible comic series. Amazon and Point Grey Pictures have the perfect track record to develop the series. That way, we can expect the same type of attention and respect towards the source material that both previously mentioned shows got will remain a priority as audiences get introduced to the universe of Heath Huston, an alcoholic trucker turned alien exterminator.

The comic series, which had a somewhat unconventional run by switching publishers midway through, tells the story of an alien invasion and its survivors. They dubbed themselves the Fear Agents as they try to drive the aliens off of their planet. But doing so meant that Heath had to commit alien genocide. As such, he got ostracized. Now, he makes his living as an alien exterminator with a bottle of whiskey at his side. The series deals with family loss, as Heath struggles to find his purpose in the universe as he goes through a series of adventures that end up presenting the possibility of getting back everything he once held dear.

The result is a mish-mash of genres that range from sci-fi to western (much like the acclaimed Firefly). It plays with comedy to horror tropes, as it switches from drama to full-out action-adventure. If adapted in a way that respects the source material (something that Amazon and Point Grey Pictures seem to be talented in), it might turn into a bigger hit than the previously mentioned The Boys and Invincible. They can go beyond the super-hero tropes to explore uncharted territory and offering something truly unique. Its author, Rick Remender, has recently penned a deal to adapt Tokyo Ghost into a feature film. Unfortunately, the last adaptation of Deadly Class got canceled after its first season before gathering an immense following once it got picked up by Netflix internationally. The series is yet to have any of the cast announced, and its release date is still undisclosed, but it will hopefully stream exclusively on Amazon Prime soon.

  • Untitled ‘The Boys’ Spin-Off Casts Reina Hardesty as Lead

Untitled ‘The Boys’ Spin-Off Casts Reina Hardesty as Lead

It looks like the still-untitled The Boys spin-off has found its lead actress. Deadline has just revealed that Brockmire actress Reina Hardesty will tackle the lead role of the upcoming college-focused series. It seems that it is already nearing a green light by Amazon Studios, which will want to continue banking on the success of their R-rated superhero franchise. The story will focus on America’s college for superheroes. Of course, it is run by Vought International and aims to prepare the new generation of Supes for their big debut. As to be expected, the story will push their sexual and moral boundaries to a test to get the best contracts.  It will be written by The Boys executive producer Craig Rosenberg.

The third season is still in production for the popular series, as it has recently cast Katia Winter as Little Nina. The spin-off has also been quite busy, as it has added Shane Paul Mcghie, Maddie Phillips, Aimee Carrero, Jaz Sinclair, and Lizzie Broadway. It will be quite the stacked cast, which will take a very different approach from the mainline series. The Boys focused primarily on a group of non-powered individuals while intersecting stories from the Supes now and then. This series will primarily focus on a group of young adults and very hormonal superheroes at its core. The Brockmire actress might end up being the only hero without powers to add that human element, but there is no word which role she is tackling. It’ll be interesting to see if we get any potential crossovers between the series in the future.

  • Katia Winter Joins ‘The Boys’ Season 3 as Little Nina

Katia Winter Joins ‘The Boys’ Season 3 as Little Nina

The Boy’s is becoming one hot property. The spinoff is in the works, and the third season has already entered production. It’s going to be interesting to see how they’ll top the previous season. Still, the series is known for its thrilling story and gratuitous violence that keeps getting wilder with each episode. It looks like the upcoming season will probably not stray too far from its predecessors. The third season will introduce Soldier Boy, Payback, and the untamed Herogasm storyline that is what you think it is. Along with Soldier Boy, it seems another considerable threat is coming this season, the Russian mobster Little Nina.

According to Deadline, actress Katia Winter has joined the cast of The Boys. She will play the Russian mobster with an affinity for sex toys. The character is indeed a wild one, but nothing out of the ordinary for this property. Little Nina works with Vought. She uses compound-V to make more superheroes and has quite possibly one of the weirdest deaths in comics. Butcher added an explosive in her vibrator and blew it up mid-flight. It is unsure if they will adapt this iconic sequence from the comics or add their spin, which will get interesting once it airs.

The Boys season 3 is now in production but currently has no release date. The upcoming season will see the return of Karl Urban as Billy Butcher. He will be joined by Anthony StarrJack QuaidErin Moriarty, Karen Fukuhara, and Laz Alonso.

  • Shane Paul McGhie, Maddie Phillips, and Aimee Carrero Join ‘The Boys’ Spinoff

Shane Paul McGhie, Maddie Phillips, and Aimee Carrero Join ‘The Boys’ Spinoff

The Boy’s is one of the most popular shows right now. Even when a season isn’t currently running, it’s still a hot topic online. The series has spawned an immense following and has garnered a two-season run with another on the way. Also, its wild success has warranted a spinoff, a show that’ll follow young heroes as they attend a Vought-owned university that trains the best brightest of upcoming superheroes. The series got fast-tracked by Amazon. It already cast Jaz Sinclair and Lizzie Broadway in leading roles.

The series is moving forward quite quickly as it has recently added three more to its ever-expanding cast. The recent casting additions include Shane Paul Mcghie, Maddie Phillips, and Aimee Carrero. The series doesn’t include which characters the three will take on, but previous castings did disclose who the previous two actresses would be playing. Mcghie could be playing Andre. Phillips could very well be Britney, but Carrero doesn’t seem to fit any of the roles previously rumored for the series.

The Boy’s spinoff currently has not set a release date. We are also still waiting for an official title, which may confirm if the series is an adaptation of the G-Men, who is an X-Men spoof in the original comic run. they were a group of the upcoming third season of The Boy’s is currently in production and will see the return of everyone’s favorite superhero-hating renegades, as well as the supes, make the whole thing possible.

  • Amazon’s ‘The Boys’ Spinoff Adds Jaz Sinclair

Amazon’s ‘The Boys’ Spinoff Adds Jaz Sinclair

It looks like Amazon is not wasting any time, as right after they unveiled Lizze Broadway announced for the upcoming The Boys spin-off, they’ve already announced the next cast member. Deadline has revealed that Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star, Jaz Sinclair, has joined the upcoming spin-off as another one of the series leads. She will tackle the role of Marie Moreau.

Around a week ago, the casting details were supposedly released, which offer some insight into what character Sinclair will end up playing. Marie is a young, up-and-coming hero from the Caribbean. She is the first and only hero from that region, so she has a lot of responsibility to make her home country proud. Hopefully, we won’t see her downfall through the negative influence of Vought. We already know they can barely control a group of adults, so who knows how well they can manage hormonal teenagers.

The spin-off still has no official name as of now. It will follow a group of young superheroes, who visit Vought International’s school. The Boys executive producer Craig Rosenberg is writing the series, so that ensures that it will have the same heart, raunch, and satire as the original. At this rate, we might get the casting news for the rest of the cast by the end of the week. Hopefully, it also means we get an official title soon that finally unveils how they can title a spin-off based on The Boys. Its success could also start the development of more spin-offs in the future, so it is certainly a series to keep an eye out for.

  • Lizze Broadway Joins Amazon’s ‘The Boys’ Spinoff

Lizze Broadway Joins Amazon’s ‘The Boys’ Spinoff

In 2019, the first season of Amazon’s hit series, The Boys, was released. The series quickly became a smash hit, gaining critical acclaim and praise from fans alike. A second season got promptly ordered and before it even aired, Amazon already greenlit a third season. With the raging success of one show comes the potential of expanding the franchise. In September, Amazon revealed that the show’s team had begun working on a spin-off focusing on young heroes. Now with the show on the fast track, we’ve already got our first bit of casting.

Not too long ago, the first casting details got revealed for the upcoming series, which gave us breakdowns of the series leads. After a long wait, we finally got the first casting announcement. Actress Lizze Broadway has been cast as Emma, a hero looking to escape the shadow of her mother and finally make a human connection. Broadway‘s character spent the better part of her childhood traveling with her mother, with whom she had a rocky relationship.

UPDATE: First ‘THE BOYS’ Set Photos Offer First Look at Starlight’s Ex-Boyfriend Supersonic

UPDATE: Well, it turns out that there is a good reason we wondered why the costume was so different from last season’s tease. @TOFilming_EM has revealed that it wasn’t Jensen Ackles’ stand-in but rather Miles Gaston Villanueva, who is playing Starlight’s ex-boyfriend, Supersonic.

The citizens of Toronto are treated to their first big film premiere in almost a year. The only downside is the movie features Homelander in the lead role. Photos from the Canadian set of Amazon’s hit series, The Boys, have begun circulating online. They reveal the production team has dressed up the Metro Toronto Convention Centre to look like a Vought-sponsored movie theater. The fictional movie debuting at the MTCC is Dawn of the Seven, the series’ parody of Zack Snyder‘s Batman v. Superman. It’s the same film they were filming throughout the latter half of the last season. It looks like an old yet new hero is attending the premiere, as Soldier Boy, the WWII-era Captain America homage played by Jensen Ackles, arrives all dressed on set up in red-white-and-blue. The set photos mark our first look at the actor in the costume:

Luckily, we also get a shot from the front that gives us a better look at his overall design:

The images appear to be of Ackles‘ stand-in rather than the actual actor. Nonetheless, they give us a good idea of what the character will look like fully suited up. Showrunner Eric Kripke appears to be taking a page out of the MCU’s book with the design as he is opting for a combination of Avengers tactical look combined with some spandex from comics. It is also important to note that this is a different design from the Soldier Boy statue that got teased in the previous season. That monument gave the original version a classic soldier vibe. This detail means that Ackles‘ hero either updated his fashion sense over the decades, or the show might incorporate the comic twist involving multiple men taking on the Soldier Boy mantle. Whatever direction they go, it’s going to be interesting.
