Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is now the next Marvel Studios film up to continue the franchise. Accordingly, we are seeing plenty of news bits here and there about the upcoming film which will feature potential Multiverse Saga Big Bad Kang the Conquerer.

Actor Jonathan Majors previously played He Who Remains on Loki and teased he was just one of “many iterations” of Kang that he’d be playing during his tenure in the MCU and now Ant-Man franchise director Peyton Reed has chimed in on which version audiences will see in Quantumania. “Kang The Conqueror in our movie is a very different character,” from Majors’ He Who Remains, teased Reed in an interview. “He’s someone who has dominion over time, and he’s a warrior and a strategist,” added Reed, whose description is in lockstep with how Majors has previously described this version of the character. Reed finished the thought by describing this version as, “an all-timer antagonist“, giving fans of the comics a pretty good idea of what to expect.

A Funk Pop that made its way to stores earlier than expected offered fans the first look at M.O.D.O.K. A new theater standee shared on Twitter has indicated that in addition to the main cast of Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Michael Douglas returning for the film, one other actor is set to return for his third MCU film—David Dastmalchian. The actor has played Kurt Goreshter in the previous two Ant-Man films and along with Michael Pena’s Luis and T.I.’s Dave was a frequent source of comedic relief.

There’s been a lot of hype around Tenoch Huerta‘s incredible performance as Namor, the leader of Talocan and antagonist in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Many have hoped that this performance would kick off interest from Marvel Studios to get this character his own solo project, but sadly it seems that rights are still an issue for some of the Marvel characters. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever producer Nate Moore has confirmed that the character can definitely return in a future project, but Disney is not able to produce a standalone project based around the character. It seems the rights are still with Universal, who also holds the rights to Hulk and was the reason that character never got a sequel since the Edward Norton film back in 2008.

As shared on Instagram, there’s already a The Marvels‘ shirt available that gives us a good look at the main trio of Monica Rambeau, Carol Danvers, and Kamala Khan. The biggest reveal from this merchandise is the costume that Monica will seemingly wear during her outing as a hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Kingpin actor Vincent D’Onforio made a comment about Daredevil: Born Again that had everyone speculating this week. Though he’s often been clear that he’d love to see Kingpin take on Spider-Man in the MCU, he’s also made it known that a Punisher vs. Kingpin battle is on his list of goals. With the rumors of Jon Bernthal’s return to the role continuing to swirl, perhaps D’Onofrio’s comments could give fans of the character a little more reason to hope he’ll be included.

In the world of DC, James Gunn took to Twitter to shoot down reports about Henry Cavill’s alleged contract(s) with DC Studios to play Superman down the road after his return in Black Adam. Gunn made it clear that only he and co-head of DC Studios Peter Safran know anything about the subject, and any report out there is likely false.

Any time a legendary filmmaker comments on superhero films, the internet discourse goes instance, and Quentin Tarantino’s recent comments ignited the discussion again. Tarantino is not a big fan of modern superhero films. The acclaimed director recently said he’s never helmed one because he’s “not a hired hand” and while “the writing’s not quite on the wall yet”, he believes the fascination with superhero films will eventually fade.” However, when asked about what type of comic book film he would be interested in making, Tarantino revealed it would be the 1963 Stan Lee and Jack Kirby series Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commandoes, which actually inspired Inglorious Basterds.

Vincent D’Onofrio Praises Alaqua Cox’s Performance in ‘Echo’; Teases ‘Born Again’ Connection

Marvel Studios’ streaming series Echo stands poised to be a trailblazing project in a number of ways. Not only will it be the first Marvel Studios project to feature a Native American lead and largely Native American supporting cast, but it also puts star Alaqua Cox, who is deaf and an amputee, in the spotlight making good on a wish she expressed during her time on Hawkeye to be part of the effort to “see more deaf and disabled role models to inspire the next generation.” Disney debuted footage of the series exclusively at D23 and though the show has completed production, rumors of issues behind the scenes have begun to swirl ahead of its slated release in the Spring of 2023.

If there are any issues, they would seemingly come as a surprise to Vincent D’Onofrio, who has a sizeable role as Wilson Fisk in Echo. Speaking recently at Salt Lake FanX, D’Onofrio praised the performance of Cox as Maya Lopez “I have to say that in Echo, which is coming, where you get to see Alaqua Cox’s performance…it was just phenomenal.” The actor then went on to tease the scenes that his Kingpin shared with Cox’s Maya Lopez, hyping specifically “the last few episodes” and saying of the show that “it’s going to be quite something.“

Before switching gears, though, D’Onofrio indicated that long-standing rumors that Echo would serve as a direct lead-in to his next MCU project, Daredevil: Born Again, are accurate saying, “And that leads into, of course, Born Again.” Again, whatever purported issues there are with the series, if any, D’Onofrio seemed entirely unaware of them at FanX, which was held in late September.

Like many projects, it’s possible that Echo may require some more work and might even find its release date bumped back a bit. However, considering its importance as the first superhero project centered around Native Americans and the connection to Daredevil: Born Again, it seems likely that Marvel Studios will find a way to remedy any issues with the finished product.

Vincent D’Onofrio Hypes ‘Daredevil: Born Again’, May Hint at Showdown with The Punisher

Daredevil: Born Again is shaping up to be Marvel Studios’ most ambitious streaming series to date. The 18-episode event will take nearly all of 2023 to film before hitting Disney Plus in 2024 and is rumored to include a whole slew of characters including the Punisher and White Tiger, a new street-level character from the pages of Marvel Comics. Even without those characters, the hype for the series, which will see Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio share the lead for the first time since the Netflix Daredevil series was canceled, has always been high. But it can always get better…

At a recent appearance at Salt Lake FanX, D’Onofrio took the time to get the audience in attendance even more fired up about the upcoming series. While responding to a question about what hero he’d like to face down the road in the MCU, D’Onofrio veered off-topic (or did he?) to hype Daredevil: Born Again.

I will say though…see you guys have no idea what you’re in store for in Born Again. I know a little bit more than you guys and all I can say is, during that next series you’re not going to be thinking about anything but the next episode. I promise.

This week featured a smattering of news throughout the entertainment industry. With Black Panther: Wakanda Forever rounding out its second weekend in theaters, M’Baku actor Winston Duke confirmed his character’s ending in the film. Deadpool 3 continues to make steady news. Rather, Untitled Deadpool and Wolverine is making news, and the new working title seems to be a clear hint to how big Hugh Jackman’s role in the film is. A recent casting rumor also points to the iconic X-Men villain Danger as the antagonist of the film. In the comics, she is the physical embodiment of the training room known as the Danger Room, which became a massive threat to the mutants.

It is now rumored that Harrison Ford’s Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross will both be the President of the United States and Red Hulk in Captain America: New World Order. Casting for the Wonder Man series has begun, which is expected to begin production in the Spring of 2023. With that comes a description of the villain of the piece, who happens to be the agent of struggling actor Simon Williams, aka Wonder Man. The villain may well be based on a character first introduced in 1991’s Wonder Man comic book series, created by Gerard Jones and Jeff Johnson. That series introduced Simon’s agent, Neal Saroyan, who was ultimately revealed to be a supervillain in charge of a cadre of assassins known as The Nobility. Bob Odenkirk is rumored to be in talks for the role, though it is unconfirmed at this time.

The upcoming Armor Wars remains intriguing, after having been announced as a streaming series but later revealed to be changing gears and being developed as a feature film. Producer Nate Moore this week explains that Armor Wars was simply “too big” to be a Disney+ series. It seems that Marvel Studios wanted to have a full budget for the armor, but bringing it to the big screen might mean the film’s story takes on a greater purpose in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In Marvel television news, if new rumors are true, Marvel Studios’ animation department may be facing some layoffs and are actively waiting for their release to greenlight future seasons. Agents of SHIELD star Chloe Bennett posted a very daisy-inspired photo, prompting more speculation that she may make her formal debut to the MCU. It turns out that Matt Murdock will likely find a new love interest in Daredevil: Born Again, as Karen Page actress Deborah Ann Woll made it clear she has not been asked back for the Daredevil revival. Another Born Again rumor suggests that hero White Tiger will be joining the show’s roster.

Peter Safran and James Gunn have only recently taken on the role of DC Studios’ co-CEOs. Warner Bros. Apparently, their long-term plans for the studio could be announced within the next couple of months, but all Henry Cavill and Man of Steel sequel plans have been stalled for the time being. Otherwise Warner Bros. is looking to adapt Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Greta Gerwig might be directing Netflix Narnia films, Margot Robbie’s Pirates of the Caribbean film is no longer happening, and Disney is eyeing a The Princess Diaries revival.

New Rumor Adds Another Hero to the Roster in ‘Daredevil: Born Again ‘

Daredevil: Born Again looks primed to be Marvel Studios most anticipated streaming series to date. Between the confirmed roles of Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio and the rumored return of Jon Bernthal as The Punisher, the hype around the series has grown steadily since it was revealed by Kevin Feige at SDCC ’22.

Though the show doesn’t go into production for another few months and little about the plot has leaked out, Feige has indicated that Daredevil, along with Spider-Man, will lead the charge of street-level heroes in the MCU. To that end, a new rumor from a wildly inconsistent source claims that another street-level hero from the pages of the Marvel Comics will be making an appearance in Daredevil: Born Again. According to GFR, White Tiger will join Daredevil in the streaming series.

The mantle of White Tiger has been carried by several characters over the years and Matt Murdock has a pretty solid history with a pair of them in Hector Ayala and Angela del Toro. The rumor claims that Marvel Studios has landed Jenna Ortega for the role, meaning Daredevil: Born Again will likely feature del Toro’s version of the character, who played a large role in and around New York City in the years prior to the Shadowland event.

This is the part of the article where outlets tell you to take the information with a grain of salt; however, I’ll only say that not only does White Tiger make sense for an 18-episode street-level series but also that the character was mentioned to me this week in two different conversations, though at no point were actors discussed.

Should Ortega indeed land the role, it would be her second within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ortega previously played the daughter of Miguel Ferrer’s Vice President Rodriguez in 2013’s Iron Man 3. Cue the ridiculous fan theories. Daredevil: Born Again begins production in February of 2023 ahead of a 2024 release on Disney Plus.

Matt Murdock Will Find a New Love Interest in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’

Daredevil: Born Again looks to be Marvel Studios’ most ambitious foray into streaming yet with a nearly year-long production timeline and an 18-episode season set to hit Disney Plus in 2024. Both Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio are confirmed to reprise their respective roles as Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk, but though casting is underway no additional roles for the series have become public knowledge to date. Of course, fans haven’t let that stop them from speculating who will be in it and predetermining who should be in it and a common name on both those lists is Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page. While fans are eager to see her reprise the role, Woll may have delivered some bad news.

In an interview with Inside of You podcast, Woll revealed that she hasn’t been invited back for the role yet despite filming being scheduled to kick of in February. When asked about her potential involvement in Daredevil: Born Again, Woll got straight to the point.

I can say this: they have not called me yet. So as of now, I am not a part of it. I would be thrilled to get to be a part of it. They know where I am. Like I said, I love the character Karen Page. I love telling that story. I feel like I have more to say. But it is up to them what kind of story that they want to tell.

Given Daredevil’s abrupt cancellation at Netflix, it stands to reason that Woll, along with many other actors and actresses who were a part of the show’s 3 seasons, would believe that their individual character arcs were not complete. In fact, given how key Page was to the events of the first 3 seasons of Daredevil, it’s hard to imagine continuing the story without her. However, Marvel Studios One-Above-All Kevin Feige has indicated that Daredevil: Born Again is not considered to be Season 4 of the Netflix show and Cox has called the D+ series a “whole new deal”, so it’s possible that the Marvel Studios series will be exploring a new take on the character, complete with the sort of retellings that Cox has readily teased. And it looks like, for the time being at least, that means having Murdock move on without Page. Could a love interest like Kirsten McDuffie be headed for Daredevil: Born Again in Page’s absence? With casting right around the corner, perhaps fans will find out soon enough.

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Taking Over New York City in 2023

The announcement of Daredevil: Born Again as an 18-episode streaming series brought a lot of questions with it. Would the series stream for 18 consecutive weeks? Would the episodes be broken into groups or pods? How long will it take to film something like that? Thanks to a report from The Illuminerdi, it looks like we have an answer to one of those questions.

Daredevil: Born Again is one of three Disney Plus streaming series set to film in the first half of 2023, joining Agatha: Coven of Chaos and Wonder Man. Early word had the Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio-led Daredevil series headed to New York City for production, returning to the familiar locations fans grew accustomed to over 3 seasons of the Netflix series. The new report from the Illuminderdi confirms that and adds that production is expected to last nearly all of 2023, beginning in February and wrapping in December. A short break is scheduled in August, but it looks like fans will have plenty of time to catch a glimpse of the production as it goes on.

While Marvel Studios uses the Atlanta area for much of their stateside productions, Daredevil: Born Again won’t be the first project to be out and about on the streets of New York City. Hawkeye filmed a significant portion of its six episodes in the Big Apple, allowing for fans and paps to catch actors on set, including the first look at Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop. There’s no way of knowing just how much fans can expect to see Cox and D’Onofrio on the streets, or across the skyline, but regardless of that filming in New York City rather than turning the streets of Atlanta into a replica will bring a bit of verisimilitude to the project, which is expected to stream on Disney Plus in 2024.

Charlie Cox on the “Save Daredevil” Campaign and the Future of the Character

Charlie Cox week continues full steam ahead. Whether it’s been discussing the new-found levity of the character,hyping Daredevil: Born Again co-star Vincent D’Onofrio or confusing fans and himself about the continuity of the character, fans have had their fair share of Cox this week and that’s ok. It’s become clear over the years that Daredevil fans love Cox. And in an interview with Marvel.com, the actor talked bout just how much he loves them back, including a certain segment that is near and dear to his heart.

When the news of the cancellation of Daredevil reached fans in November of 2018, a group of fans took it upon themselves to start an online campaign to get Cox back in the role. Over the years, the Save Daredevil campaign grew into a massive, highly organized undertaking who were able to celebrate their success when news broke that Cox was returning to the role in Spider-Man: No Way Home. According to Cox, he has them to thank for his return to the role…and the future of the character.

While Marvel Studios worked hard to keep Cox’s return a secret in the past, the future is a wide-open book. Following his work on She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, he’s expected to appear in Echo, though he’s played coy about that appearance so far, and then star in Marvel Studios most ambitious Disney Plus streaming series yet: Daredevil: Born Again. Demonstrating his trademark passion for the character, Cox explained that he can’t wait to get started on the new series, which he’s called “a whole new deal” for the character.

I’m so excited about the future. I can’t wait to get on the set from the first day of the new show. I’m already starting to train. As you know, I’m already starting to make plans in terms of living and training and having conversations with the writers and all of those things. So it’s starting to feel very real.

Principal photography on Daredevil: Born Again is expected to begin sometime early in 2023 with some work set to be done in New York City. The actor had indicated that production is expected to both physically and mentally challenging, given the ambitiousness of the project, but the payoff should be great. With an 18-episode run, fans can expect to see a lot of Cox on Disney Plus throughout 2024.

Charlie Cox Debates Himself on Daredevil’s Continuity Continuing in the MCU

In true Marvel Studios’ fashion, their latest project, She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, has continued to make news nearly a week beyond its finale streamed on Disney Plus. Most of that news has come from post-finale interviews and most of those have been focused on guest star Charlie Cox, whose appearance as both lawyer Matt Murdock and the costumed vigilante Daredevil in Episode 8 fully integrated his character into the MCU after a brief appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Cox has a lot of MCU in front of him, with a rumored appearance in Echo and an 18-episode series of his own, Daredevil: Born Again, set for 2024. With all that ahead of him, however, much of the focus remains on his past and whether or not this Matt Murdock is the same one introduced in Netflix’s Daredevil.

In the past Cox has been clear that whatever the case, Daredevil: Born Again will not serve as a continuation of the Netflix series, calling it a “whole new deal” and explaining that Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige sees it as Season 1 rather than Season 4. Cox has also expressed enthusiasm at the fact that his future in the MCU will allow for the opportunity “to potentially get to tell some of the stories over and over again.” These comments certainly leave room for this iteration of the character to be a multiversal variant rather than THE exact same character seen over three seasons of the Netflix series.

Interestingly enough, EW addressed this very topic in a recent interview by asking Cox if he was playing Daredevil “the same as in the Netflix series”

It should be and it is always the same character. The difference is just like with people, we morph and change and are very different based on what’s going on in our lives. The Matt Murdock from the Netflix show, that world and what was going on for Matt meant that most of the time we were living with a man who had a huge amount of pressure and strain and tonally the show was very dark and gritty and heavy. I don’t know what the new show will be like, but when I came over to do Spider-Man and She-Hulk, the tone is much more lighthearted and tongue in cheek and fun and witty and full of levity, so the hope was that Matt is able to fit into that world and participate in it without it being a different character, a different person.

Pretty clear cut. Same character, same person. However, asked by THR if the character he will be playing in Daredevil: Born Again will be “the exact same character” as the one from the Netflix series, Cox’s response was a little different.

I honestly don’t know. I haven’t read any scripts yet, and we haven’t really talked at length about what this current iteration will be like. Just by the fact that they’re using me as an actor to play the part, it’s clear that there are going to be some consistencies and … some differences. We have an opportunity to at least take what worked really well and then also add some cool elements, ideas, concepts and themes that we weren’t able to do before. So it’s Daredevil, but upgraded.

Given that Daredevil entered the MCU in the Multiverse Saga, the second statement seems to fall in line with what Marvel Studios has put on film so far in Phase 4. Plenty of examples exist of characters who are almost identical, but just a little different. And that statement also points out the creative freedom of choosing to portray Daredevil (and Kingpin or any other Netflix character for that matter) as a Variant. As Cox says, they would have the “opportunity to at least take what worked really well” while also having the freedom to change parts of the story they didn’t like. A well-placed Nexus Event essentially makes Matt Murdock the same character at his core but allows Marvel Studios to retell stories (as Cox indicates they are willing to do) in a way that fits their shared narrative rather than having to force the Netflix stories into it.

Fans of the Netflix series may not love it, but Cox said it himself: “it’s Daredevil, but upgraded.” Ultimately it’s clear that Cox isn’t even sure himself what’s happening and the truth is that the longer he and fans are kept in the dark, the better it is for Marvel Studios because it allows them to do what they do best: keep interest in their characters and project alive even when there’s nothing new to see.

Charlie Cox Praises Vincent D’Onoforio; Talks Reuniting with ‘Daredevil’ Co-Star

With Wilson Fisk and Matt Murdock both making their respective ways into the MCU, it’s just a matter of time before the two meet up. Whether that meeting is a reunion between the two characters or their first meeting in a vast multiverse continues to be a hot topic of debate, but one thing has been clear since Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onoforio worked together on Daredevil: they each have a great deal of respect for the other. The two shared the stage briefly at D23 to discuss Daredevil: Born Again, an upcoming 18-episode streaming series and fans have been thrilled at the prospect of seeing them together again since. Fans aren’t the only ones excited about the reunion, however.

In an interview with GQ following his appearance on She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, Cox gushed about D’Onofrio’s talents:

He’s obviously a lovely guy, but more than that, he’s just such an extraordinary performer. He’s such a great actor. To be able to work opposite him and show up for a day of filming and see what he brings to the scene-which is always so much richer and more nuanced and more interesting [than] you could even have imagined in your mind I probably learned more from him about acting than I have from anyone else I’ve worked with. I think he’s made me a much better actor. Hopefully, I can learn more as we can continue working together.

D’Onofrio’s investment into the psychology of Wilson Fisk has been well-documented and paid huge dividends over the course of his time on the Netflix series. The actor has made it clear that he’s bringing the same energy to the character as he enters the MCU, meaning that when it comes time for him to meet Daredevil on screen, fans can expect something special.
