  • Marvel Studios One Shot ‘ALL HAIL THE KING’ Gets New Logo on Disney+

Marvel Studios One Shot ‘ALL HAIL THE KING’ Gets New Logo on Disney+

Marvel Studios is no stranger to testing out new formats. While they’re enjoying the success of releasing long-form projects on Disney+, they’ve tested out non-cinematic releases with the Blu-ray exclusives Marvel Studios One Shots. They started off minor before they even created small spin-offs exploring characters that had a supporting role in the film. Most notably, they used this format to tackle the Mandarin issue introduced in Iron Man 3. In that film, we found out that the the self-proclaimed Mandarin, played by Ben Kingsley, was just a actor. Of course, it rubbed fans the wrong way until they released a One Shot titled All Hail the King that revealed there was a real one still out there.

That very Mandarin will finally get introduced in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. As we are only a week away from its release, they re-released the One Shot with a brand new logo. Not only did the One Shot series finally get a unique design but they’ve laso included the ten rings design used throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe to highlight its connection. As it’s not available in some European regions, @TimGettys shared a shot of the new design.

It’s a great move to higlhight the short, as it does set-up Wenwu’s eventual appearance. Plus, they finally are giving these shorts some more focus which were hidden away in the Extra sections of the film’s they initially released with. So, we might see Agent Carter’s One Shot also get its own spot in the near future. It does make you wonder if they’ll also include a new logo for their Marvel Legacy connection that are technically not part the MCU. At least until Deadpool makes his debut in this franchise and potentially breaks reality as we know it.

  • ‘COBRA KAI’ Gets Early Season 5 Renewal

‘COBRA KAI’ Gets Early Season 5 Renewal

It looks like we’ll get a lot more of Cobrai Kai in the future, as Netflix has renewed the series for a fifth season ahead of the fourth’s release in December. The series continues the story of Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso from The Karate Kid. It initially started off as a YouTube Red series before they moved on from original programming and was continued by Netflix as of its third season. There, it’s success has made it a household name for many viewers.

It’s crazy to see how much this series has grown since premiering on YouTube’s early attempts at a streamer. The idea to look at the original film’s world from the perspective of William Zapka‘s Lawrence. The revival of Cobra Kai as he tries to escape his fall from grace. This act leads to his rivalry with LaRusso also getting reignited, who has been struggling since the death of his mentor Mr. Miyagi.

Throughout the various seasons, we’ve seen many familiar faces making a return. They even went on to include characters from the various Cobra Kai sequels. In December, we saw the return of Tamlyn Tomita and Yuji Okumoto, who appeared in The Karate Kid Part II from 1986. As the series continues, it makes you wonder if we’ll see other references, such as The Next Karade Kid or perhaps even Jackie Chan’s Mr. Han from the 2010 remake. Here’s hoping we’ll find out what the future has in store once the fourth season premieres in December.

  • Joy Omanski and Neil Hopkins Upped to Series Regulars for ‘STARGIRL’ Season 3

Joy Omanski and Neil Hopkins Upped to Series Regulars for ‘STARGIRL’ Season 3

Stargirl‘s second season has just begun on the CW network after moving from the DC Universe streaming service. It is set in the aftermath of the Injustice Societies defeat. Now, our heroes face a reality where they are no longer needed. The upcoming episode will see the return of Sportsmaster and Tigress, who were thought to be locked away after they took down ISA’s satellite and sent them packing. It seems this wont be the last we see of them.

Deadline is reporting that both Neil Hopkins and Joy Omanski have been promoted to series regulars in the upcoming third season of Stargirl, which was green-lit before the second had even premiered. The pair are definitely one of the shows deadliest duos, posing as quite the challenge for the JSA upon their first few missions, but the dynamic between the pair is quite perfect and it’ll be great to have them back.

While there isn’t any details on the upcoming third season, and filming has yet to begin, its possible we could see the Crockett crime family come together in the future of the series. Cindy Burman is on the hunt to form her own ISA with Tigress and Sportmaster’s daughter, Artemis being high on her list as a potential candidate. The series could even potentially bring in the Crocketts oldest daughter, Cheshire. Artemis and her might become fan favorites with their inclusion on Young Justice.

Stargirl‘s second season is currently airing on the CW Network every Tuesday. The sophomore season features the return of Brec Bassinger and Luke Wilson as Stargirl and S.T.R.I.P.E as a new evil makes its way to Blue Valley, one that could be deadlier then the entirety of the ISA.

  • Marvel Studios Starts Casting for ‘WEREWOLF BY NIGHT’ Halloween Special

Marvel Studios Starts Casting for ‘WEREWOLF BY NIGHT’ Halloween Special

Werewolf by Night is moving forward over at Marvel Studios, as The Wrap has just unveiled they are currently casting a Latino male in his 30s to star in a Halloween Special. It is currently still untitled but will follow the story of a werewolf character, which may confirm earlier reports that they are actively working on a project for the character. Production is eyeing an early 2022 with earlier reports hinting at a February start. No episode count has been named, but might be a one-off episode rather than a full season order.

There have been some rumblings on Werewolf by Night making a possible appearance in the upcoming Moon Knight series. If they are currently casting, it would imply that he won’t have a role. Though, there were two that held that title in the Marvel comics, Jack Russel and Jake Gomez. So, perhaps we get to explore the origins before he splinters off into his own project. It’s not the first special we’re getting from Marvel Studios, as Guardians of the Galaxy is also expected to release a Holiday Special next year.

The only confusing aspect is that earlier reports hinted at a series being in development. From the sound of it, and Disney+’s history with any kind of special, they are only a one-time release. Perhaps there are multiple projects in the work, such as Guardians getting a special ahead of the third entries release in cinemas. Of course, they might also want to introduce the character ahead of a potential crossover. Are we finally getting Midnight Sons?

  • ‘WHAT IF…?’ Planned as an Annual Release on Disney+

‘WHAT IF…?’ Planned as an Annual Release on Disney+

2021 became Marvel Studios’ big year of expansion, as they released their new series on Disney+. We’ve gotten introduced to various series that act as mini-series before the character’s journey into an upcoming film. Loki surprised audiences with the announcement of a second season, as it joined What If…? as the only series getting multiple season orders. It looks like a curious detail has slipped through the cracks, as Brad Winderbaum teased that they plan to keep the animated series as an annual release. As such, it would be Marvel Studios’ first series to get a yearly release.

We’ll see what happens. Obviously, I don’t want to predict the future with this new world we live in, but our intention is to make it an annual release.

We did find out earlier this month that the second season will include films from Phase 4. There’s no word if they will also include the Disney+ series in any capacity, but it seems likely they might get included at some point. Animation takes quite a bit of time, as they’ve already worked on the second seasonf or some time. So, if they want to keep their plans with an annual release, they might already be finalizing their plans for future seasons.

What If Episode 3 Voice Cast: Every New and Returning MCU Actor

Perhaps they get a chance to revisit some of the cancelled ideas teased by head writer A.C. Bradley. Of course, it’s uncertain if the same creative team will remain on the series, but the unique aspect of this show would allow anyone to jump on board to add a new twist on the concept. The multiverse is vast and allows for any possible combination of events to unleash. If anything, the last two episodes cemented that anything is possible and I am still thinking about the fact we have a zombie episode.

  • AMC’s ‘INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE’ Adds ‘GAME OF THRONES’ Jacob Anderson as Louis

AMC’s ‘INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE’ Adds ‘GAME OF THRONES’ Jacob Anderson as Louis

It looks like AMC’s Interview With The Vampire Adaptation has found its next cast member, as Deadline reports Jacob Anderson joined the project. He’ll star alongside Sam Reid, who was cast as Lestat not too long ago. The adaptation of Anne Rice’s famous books will run for eight episodes in its first season. He takes on the role that Brad Pitt famously played in the original 1994 film, Louis de Pointe du Lac.

The series is currently set for a 2022 release on AMC and its streaming service AMC+. Rolin Jones, the former showrunner of HBO’s Perry Mason, will tackle the adaptation. Mark Johnson, Anne Rice, and Christopher Rice will act as executive producers on the novel adaptation. It’ll serve as the beginning of their attempt to bring the entire series of Vampire Chronicles to life. They haven’t shared any details regarding which direction the series will take, but it might be possible they will create a modern interpretation of the series.

Anderson is most well-known for his time as Grey Worm in HBO’s Game of Thrones. He’s also set to appear in BBC’s popular Doctor Who series as Vinder. He has an extensive history in British television, as he also played opposite David Tennant, Jodie Whittaker, and Olivia Colman on the series Broadchurch. It’ll be interesting to see how he interprets this iconic character and brings new life to him once the series premieres next year.

  • First Concept Art of Brandon Routh’s Gideon Jura for Netflix’s ‘MAGIC: THE GATHERING’ Series Released

First Concept Art of Brandon Routh’s Gideon Jura for Netflix’s ‘MAGIC: THE GATHERING’ Series Released

It looks like Netflix continues to build out its various franchises, as they just confirmed on Twitter that their The Magic: The Gathering series will premiere in 2022 on the streaming service. Sadly, they don’t offer a specific date but revealed that Brandon Routh will tackle the role of Gideon Jura. That is not all, as they also confirmed the series will take the route of adapting the popular card game through 3D animation. They also shared the first look at Ravnica and Golgari through some concept pieces.

Netflix has been a powerhouse adapting various popular franchises and has started expanding into animation quite a bit frequently. They’ve also brought the popular gaming franchise DOTA to life with DOTA: Dragon’s Blood. As companies like Disney and Warner Bros. have an extensive library to rely on, they’ve been carefully exploring avenues on popular franchises to draw in new subscribers.

They’ve even expanded into bringing anime to life, such as the recently revealed first look at the new Cowboy Bebop series. It seems that they’ve been generally highlighting quite a few projects lately, which might also give hope we get some updates on the mysterious One Piece adaptation that got postponed due to COVID. There have been rumors that casting is underway with Ludi Lin as a contender to bring Zoro to life. So, we’ll have quite a few exciting new adaptations in the future and can add Magic: The Gathering to that list.

  • Clark Gregg Teases Coulson’s Return in Next ‘WHAT IF…?’ Episode

Clark Gregg Teases Coulson’s Return in Next ‘WHAT IF…?’ Episode

Some time ago, we finally got the confirmation that Clark Gregg will make his grand return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the animated series What If..?. There has been no confirmation when we might expect him, but it looks like it might be sooner rather than later. The actor took to Twitter to tease his appearance in the next episode set to release this Wednesday. He’ll join Nick Fury and Black Widow, who take center stage in this entry. While not an outright confirmation, he hasn’t shared any of the other posters. Plus, this episode seems to take place around Iron Man 2 going by various trailers and the posters, which he had a big part in.

The episode is the perfect choice for Coulson’s return, as the posters confirm this is the adaptation of Fury’s Big Week from the Avengers prelude comics. We heard some time ago that it will get inspired by Agatha Christie that could end badly for our favorite heroes. As there’s still some time before the episode premieres on Disney+, we might get a trailer teasing his return tomorrow to promote the latest entry.

What If…? reinvents the way we look at the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The franchise continues to grow in new ways, as we explore the multiverse that was unleashed in Loki. We started the first animated series by exploring a different version of Captain America: The First Avenger before we witnessed a timeline where Yondu accidentally picked up T’Challa instead of Peter Quill. We’re only three episodes in and there’s quite a bit more heading our way that may continue to challenge our expectations in new and interesting ways.

  • Netflix’s ‘COWBOY BEBOP’ Gets November Release Alongside First Look at Series

Netflix’s ‘COWBOY BEBOP’ Gets November Release Alongside First Look at Series

After a long wait and some teases, we finally got our first true look at Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of Cowboy Bebop. Not only that, but we also get the confirmation that the series will get released on the streaming service on November 19th, which will follow the adventures of John Cho‘s Spike, Daniella Pineda‘s Faye, and Mustafa Shakir‘s Jet Black. We even get a look at the space-traveling corgi Ein, which gives us a good sense of how much the first season will explore. The first look at the cast is great, as they’ve brought the original designs to life in a greater fashion. Faye got a slight redesign with the core aspects of her original design present.

There are some really interesting reveals, as we get a shot of Spike in a church, which might tease Vicious appearance in the first season. Alex Hassel was cast in the role of the series’ main antagonist, who is a cornerstone of our space cowboy’s past. The images are mostly focused on their planet-based adventures with some glimpses of the iconic ship. It’s uncertain how much will be spent in space and if we get any episodes that primarily feature space battles. It wouldn’t be the same without them and Netflix would have the budget to bring these types of stories to life. Here’s hoping we get the first trailer in the coming week, as they start rolling out the promotion for the series November release. See you Space Cowboys!

  • REPORT: ‘ANDOR’ Wraps Production

    REPORT: ‘ANDOR’ Wraps Production

It looks like Disney+’s Star Wars: Rogue One spin-off has wrapped production. According to Bespin Bulletin, the series has finished production over the weekend with most of the cast finishing up. They share that Diego Luna has also finished filming with sets already getting taken down. The series was first announced back in December during the Disney Investor’s Day by Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.

Andor Release Date, Cast, Trailers & News

The last thing we’ve heard of this production was earlier this month with the report that The End of the F***ing World‘s Alex Lawther has joined the series. Filming has gone on for quite some time as they faced the COVID pandemic throughout production at Pinewood Studios. The Bespin Bulletin goes on to highlight that this was approached as a film with a twelve-episode run. It also required quite a few sets which adds to the production time.

The timing is also quite fitting, as Carl Weathers shared the news that The Mandalorian will start production in September. There’s a chance they might utilize the sets from it and the Obi-Wan Kenobi series to cut down on costs. It also implies that they’ll focus on working on a specific amount of projects.

We still know very little about the project besides it’ll act as a prequel to Rogue One. The Disney+ series will explore the time before he joined the resistance. Surprisingly, there are no plans to include his sarcastic sidekick K-2SO even when his inclusion was initially announced. We might get multiple seasons as we explore his first meeting with the droid in the future.
