  • Latest ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Dev Stream Reveals an Incoming Mega Hive Revamp

Latest ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Dev Stream Reveals an Incoming Mega Hive Revamp

Marvel’s Avengers‘ Red Room Takeover is nearing its end, and we’re already throwing our guesses to what the future holds for the Marvel game. There have been continuous worries about the lack of endgame content that, sadly, is still uncertain when it will officially release. Still, the latest stream with Crystal Dynamics offered some minor updates on what is to come and even teased a complete revamp of the Mega Hives moving forward.

    • They are aware of the current Red Room issue that enemies don’t spawn. The event will end accordingly on May 31st, and they can’t fix it in time. CD hasn’t disclosed any current plans to address this, but they ensure that this won’t occur again once the event returns.
    • We will receive a small patch titled 1.7.1 that will correct the issue of players over Power Level 130 still receiving gear with stats lower than 130.
    • They are still testing out Omega-Level Threats, but the first to release is mainly getting fine-tuned to ensure a challenging experience. It will not be made available with next week’s patch, but still possible in the next major one.
    • They will be taking a closer look at the Champion Level issue, which has been a hotly discussed topic within the community.

Avengers will feature skill trees & customizable gameplay styles for each hero | Shacknews

    • There won’t be an MCU skin next week. Avengers: Endgame‘s Hulk and Iron Man skins got pushed early, as they wanted to keep their promise to make them available as soon as they can. They were signed off earlier than expected.
    • We can expect a rework of the Mega Hive in the next week or two. It will include more things to do and offer an overall better experience according to the community team. They also teased that Multiplayer Mega Hives are further down the line and may even be on the same stage as the first OLT. Multiple projects are running simultaneously.
    • They are still actively working on the cosmetic vendor rework. Their goal is to offer more control over what you can purchase.
    • Once we are closer to the release of War for Wakanda, we will get weekly updates during their streams.

The rework of the Mega Hive is an exciting prospect, as it is the main access to Exotic gear. It would be great to see it get released alongside the first OLT, which we’ve been waiting anxiously to provide some more diversity to the content. They couldn’t test anything for June’s Cosmic Cube or Patrol Mode, but they are underway. Hopefully, we will find out what is heading our way once E3 starts.

  • J.J. Abrams’ ‘Portal’ Film Still in Active Development

J.J. Abrams’ ‘Portal’ Film Still in Active Development

Valve has offered some iconic gaming franchises over the years. Yet, as they continue their tradition of avoiding the third entry of their big franchises, they at least seem to be allowing them to continue through other media. During the press day for Super 8’s 4K release, director J.J. Abrams offered some details on his upcoming game adaptation of the iconic Portal franchise. IGN got a chance to talk to the director, who offered a considerable update on the project.

We actually do have a script that’s being written for the Portal movie now at [Warner Bros.]. We’re really excited about the take and the pitch, so it feels like that thing’s finally on the rails.

It looks like the film won’t release anytime soon, but it’s great to know they are still ready to explore Aperture Science’s offices. There are no details if it will take place in the same timeline as the first two entries in the franchise or even re-tell the original’s story. We might even get a closer look at how Aperture fell apart and how GlaDOS took over.

There is a lot of potentials and the film will hopefully stick to the franchise’s ironic sense of humor. Here’s hoping we might even get the return of Stephen Merchant‘s Wheatley from Portal 2. Whatever direction they might take, there is a lot of potential bringing this franchise to the silver screen and hopefully, Abrams will avoid the game adaptation curse we’ve seen throughout the years drag down these projects.

  • ‘Peacemaker’: ‘Bridgerton’s Freddie Stroma Replaces Chris Conrad in ‘The Suicide Squad’ Spin-Off

‘Peacemaker’: ‘Bridgerton’s Freddie Stroma Replaces Chris Conrad in ‘The Suicide Squad’ Spin-Off

It looks like there is a cast changing happening with the upcoming The Suicide Squad spin-off, Peacemaker. Bridgerton‘s Freddie Stroma will take over the role of Vigilante from Chris Conrad in the HBO Max series. He will play Adrian Chase, who is a hand-to-hand combatant and marksman. Conrad is reportedly leaving the project due to creative differences, but no details are given on what occurred. The series was ordered straight-to-series and will premiere with eight episodes on HBO Max sometime next year. It will tell the origins of John Cena’s Peacemaker character who will make his debut in this year’s The Suicide Squad.

They still have kept a lot about the series’ plot under wraps and it is uncertain how it will lead into the upcoming film. James Gunn has openly discussed that no character is safe. So, it is uncertain if Cena‘s character might even survive the events as they face off against Starro. Still, the series has been filming for some time and it is surprising to see Conrad’s replacement announced so late into production. Either he already films a few sequences that will get reshot, or Vigilante is only featured in a handful of episodes later down the line. Still, it seems a lot is still happening on the project before Gunn moves on to direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and the Disney+ Christmas Special.

  • Marvel Studios’ Untitled Film for October 2022 Pushed Back by a Year

Marvel Studios’ Untitled Film for October 2022 Pushed Back by a Year

It isn’t unusual for film release dates to get mapped out years in advance. Marvel Studios is no exception to this rule. It makes it easier to predict when the various projects might release in the coming years. Now, when Marvel Studios revealed the official titles for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and The Marvels, they seemed to have skipped a reserved date. There was an unannounced project eyeing a release in October 2022. Until now, we never got an announcement of any kind. It looks like we won’t have to question its placement anymore, as it got revealed that the untitled film got postponed into October 2023 Now, the untitled film will release October 6th, 2023. It isn’t the only delay, as they also pushed back their November 3rd release in the same year by a week.

What film may have gotten delayed? Well, there have been hints that Mahershala Ali’s Blade film might’ve gotten pushed back during their search for a director. As such, it seems like the most likely candidate. Our very own Charles Murphy even predicted its placement for the 2022 line-up prediction. The film was originally going to enter production later this year and current delays might be the cause for the decision to push it back. They may have also decided to push back the film as 2022 was quite stacked in regards to Marvel Studios’ projects. Plus, there’s no point to rush the production just to hit that release date. It gives Stacy Ose-Kuffour can work out the script in more detail and we’ll have enough Marvel Studios projects to keep us busy until then.

  • REPORT: ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Assembling A Sinister Group of Multiversal Villains

REPORT: ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Assembling A Sinister Group of Multiversal Villains

Spider-Man: No Way Home seemed to be turning into Sony’s most ambitious project involving the friendly neighborhood wall-crawler. In a way, it has become the worst kept secret after one leak after another hinted at the threequel’s Spider-Verse storyline. After rumors started piling on about the return of famous villains from various former entries in the franchise, former Doctor Octopus, Alfred Molina, just confirmed his involvement with the project. Of course, it gave more credence to other rumors and stories, such as The Amazing Spider-Man 2’s Jamie Foxx returning in the role of Electro. He even leaked an image teasing his inclusion after the announcement. It led to more rumors hitting the web of other classic villains joining the project and Collider seems to be adding more fuel to the fire in their The Sneider Cut podcast.

He revealed various details about the film’s villainous roster, as he pointed out in the podcast that Sandman, Rhino, and Lizard will be joining the project in some capacity. He did point out that he is uncertain if the actors are also returning to portray these roles. Now, he also points out that Willem Dafoe‘s Green Goblin, who has also been rumored in the past, would be the main antagonist of this incarnation of the Sinister Six. Host Jeff Sneider does make the point that we should still take it with a grain of salt but makes a valid point that it’s easier to reintroduce older villains than having to set up a completely new cast for the Sinister Six to gather.

For now, we will see how it develops as we are still half a year away from the film opening in cinemas. The film’s inclusion of Doctor Strange also strongly suggests some magical or multiversal shenanigans will occur in the film. The various Social Media sites also seem to be preparing for a promotional push of the threequel, which could offer some insight into what direction the film will truly head towards. It’s funny to think that Mysterio made up the existence of the multiverse only for it to haunt Peter Parker in the sequel. Here’s hoping it all comes together.

  • New ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Set Photos Reveal Thor in Workout Mode

New ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Set Photos Reveal Thor in Workout Mode

It looks like more set photos have found their way online from Thor: Love and Thunder. Marvel Studios’ upcoming film will follow the events of Avengers: Endgame, as Thor joins the Guardians of the Galaxy out into space. In that film, our favorite God of Thunder had put on some pounds. It made us wonder if he’d keep his physique or slim down again. The first set photos revealed that Chris Hemsworth was back in shape and it seems we might find out how going by the latest set photos.

They feature Hemsworth in full workout gear. The film’s logo already teased the 90s inspirations and it seems they might even give us a complete workout montage as he slims down after the events from the crossover epic. it would be fitting with how director Taika Waititi likes to play with the classic concept of a superhero film. Thor: Ragnarok featured various sequences that caught viewers off-guard that have gotten used to a decade of heroic films and television shows. It also is a fun new look for the Norse god, whose character reinvention made him one of Marvel’s most memorable.

Waititi and his team have been hard at work with the film. Just recently, set photos revealed a secret set for New Asgard that many are theorizing is part of the finale. There is a chance that this workout-version of Thor might be from the film’s ending as well. Currently, we still know very little about the plot outside of the various characters involved. So, it’ll be interesting to see how this story comes together when it releases in May 2022.

  • Danai Gurira to Star in a ‘Black Panther’ Okoye Origin Spin-Off Series for Disney+

Danai Gurira to Star in a ‘Black Panther’ Okoye Origin Spin-Off Series for Disney+

When it got announced that Ryan Coogler is developing a series that takes place in Wakanda. We have no idea what direction the series will take. It might explore the founding of the fictional Wakandan country or explore its time opening up the borders to the rest of the world. Now, it looks like there might be more in development for the Black Panther franchise, as in an article exploring the various lawyers in the entertainment industry. It mentions that Danai Gurira will return for the upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever film. The thing that stands out is that she will get an original Disney+ series exploring her origins. A second trade report seemed to clarify that the Okoye origin story is a separate project from the previously announced Wakanda project being developed by Coogler.

Okoye has become a fan-favorite character since she appeared as the leader of the Dora Milaje. If they explore her origin, we might see her early days and what grueling training they undergo to become the protectors of their king. It would also give the franchise a reason to explore more time with T’Chaka, who had a minor role. There is also the relationship between her and Daniel Kaluuya‘s W’Kabi. We only got a brief glimpse of it in the film. So, it might be worth taking a closer look at what would lead this couple to drift apart due to their conviction to Wakanda.

  • RUMOR: Title for 2022’s New ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ Game Leaks Online

RUMOR: Title for 2022’s New ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ Game Leaks Online

A few hours ago, Team Sonic revealed the first new entry in the franchise since 2017’s Sonic Forces. The pandemic didn’t help matters, as it delayed the release and announcement by quite a bit but it luckily was able to kick off the 30th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog. They didn’t offer any details on what the title will be called or what type of game it might be. The teaser simply showed our favorite hedgehog running freely through the forest before leaving a weird symbol behind. Well, one gaming modder took their time to analyze the 4K version of the new game’s teaser that may have revealed the game’s title.

Now, the fact that it might be called Sonic Rangers is even more interesting if you consider that some time ago there was a leak in January that mentioned a game with the same title. The franchise is not a stranger to 4chan leaks but so far only the gaming retailer leak for Sonic Colors Ultimate was confirmed. Of course, we still have to take this with a grain of salt as they could easily change the title at any point during development. There is also the question of this was just a test title that was added into the teaser’s assets. Sega did tease more reveals throughout the rest of the year. So, hopefully, we’ll get a better picture of what we can expect from the 2022 entry into the franchise and if we might be entering a completely new world of Sonic action.

  • ‘Eternals’ Trailer 24-Hour Viewer Count Surpasses ‘Cruella’ and ‘Black Widow’

‘Eternals’ Trailer 24-Hour Viewer Count Surpasses ‘Cruella’ and ‘Black Widow’

It’s never easy to try out a brand new IP. Even a giant like Marvel Studios can’t always bank on its brand to sell the craziest concepts every time. They took a gamble when they first introduced the Marvel Cinematic Universe to the world. Their latest venture to explore the vast history of the franchise through the Eternals could’ve been another one. It looks like there was nothing to worry about, as Deadline reports that the trailer clocked in 77 million views within the first 24 hours. As such, it’s their biggest Disney-Marvel trailer drop since the pandemic started 14 months ago.

It beat out the first trailer for Cruella, which managed a total of 71M. It even beats out numbers from projects from before the pandemic, such as Maleficent: Mistress of Evil‘s 61.7M and Aladdin‘s 60.8M. It was also the No.1 trend right after it launched and is only bested by The Falcon and Winter Soldier‘s Super Bowl spot, which included broadcast numbers. Deadline points out that the Chloé Zhao-directed film is purely going off global online traffic.

It even manages to beat out the big return trailer for Black Widow, which announced it was heading to Disney+ Premier Access a few months ago. That trailer even managed to surpass the second one by 13 million viewers at the time. That trailer already surpassed the view count for Black Panther, WandaVision, and Loki. Sadly, we currently could not find any view counts for the Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings premiere trailer. Still, it looks like Marvel Studios has another successful franchise with Eternals in its hand if the viewer count is anything to go by. Seems even after a year of hiatus they aren’t slowing down anytime soon.

  • ‘WandaVision’s Jac Schaeffer Inks a 3-Year Deal With Marvel Studios and 20th Television

‘WandaVision’s Jac Schaeffer Inks a 3-Year Deal With Marvel Studios and 20th Television

It looks like WandaVision was a success, as Marvel Studios and 20th Television have signed a three-year deal with its head writer Jac Schaeffer. She will be developing projects for both companies with Marvel Studios’ entries being Disney Plus exclusive. Anything developed for 20th’s TV department will be made available for all platforms. She has quite the history with Marvel Studios, as she was also co-writer for Captain Marvel and was responsible for the script of the upcoming Black Widow film. It seems Marvel Studios is quite satisfied with her work and wants to continue their partnership. Interesting enough, there is no word if she might also be returning to film as part of the deal. Expanding her work to other platforms also gives her the freedom to explore new ventures outside of the ever-expanding comic book franchise.

Schaeffer has worked on various projects with her writing debut being 2009’s Timer. She went on to write a screenplay for Olaf’s Frozen Adventure before working on Black Widow and WandaVision. She also directed her debut film, which she might want to revisit with a future project. There is currently no word on what project she might be tackling next, as there will naturally be rumors about a second season for Disney+’s first Marvel show.

They could also spin it off into a completely new show, such as potentially exploring White Vision’s journey after the events of the film, which we even pitched an idea that you can check out by clicking here. No matter what direction they are taking, we are seeing that Marvel Studios’ investment into long-form storytelling has paid off. We’ve seen them explore more ventures, such as Ryan Coogler developing a Wakanda-based Disney+ series. Here’s hoping we see what series she might be be tackling in the near future.
