  • First Full Look at ‘Stargirl’s New Villain Eclipso Revealed

First Full Look at ‘Stargirl’s New Villain Eclipso Revealed

After a very well-received first season, we were only waiting for the second season of Stargirl. The show originally streamed as a DCU Original, but it also aired on the CW a day later. It was a way to get the show some more attention. As DCU has become a comic library, it got announced that the show would find its permanent home on the CW. Now, the second season is currently in production, the sophomore season finds the newly founded Justice Society of America facing the wrath of the God, Eclipso.

At the end of the first season, we witnessed a newly freed Cindy Burman rummage through an old storage closet within the former Injustice Society of America’s lair. It was unclear what she was digging for until we saw her pull a small purple diamond from one of the boxes. Our suspicions got confirmed when she uttered the word “Eclipse”. For those who don’t know, Eclipso is the being that represents God’s wrath. He is an angel of vengeance, who would eventually be replaced by the Spectre. The villain is set to be played by Arrowverse alum, Nick Tarabay who previously played Captain Boomerang on Arrow and The Flash.

Stargirl‘s second season doesn’t have a set release date, but will most likely be out by the end of the year. It will see the return of a newly founded JSA led by Courtney Whitmore and Pat Dugan. They are played by Brec Bassinger and Luke Wilson as they recruit more members to their ranks to face a threat far more dangerous than the Injustice Society of America.

  • ‘Black Adam: First Set Photos Tease Hawkman’s Origins

‘Black Adam: First Set Photos Tease Hawkman’s Origins

Anticipation is high for the upcoming debut of Dwayne Johnson in his first foray into the superhero genre, where he will don the bolt of the wizard Shazam to become Black Adam. The film had been on the back burner for quite some time until it finally got moving when the film picked up director Jaume Collet-Serra in 2019. Since then, the film would march full steam ahead, as it recruited star after star to fill out its cast. Sadly, it lost its release date due to the pandemic, but that isn’t stopping its production team from getting ready. Now, as the film prepares to get the ball rolling next month, it seems we have our first look at something completely out of this world.

Die-hard fans of Hawkman and Hawkgirl know what we’re talking about, as it seems to resemble the Thanagarian Star Cruiser. It’s a ship that plays a pivotal role in their origins. While they can be quite convoluted, it seems they’ll be going with his post-hawk world origin this time around. In it, a Thanagarian ship crashes in ancient Egypt as prophecized by Nabu. Prince Khufu, Nabu, and Teth-Adam find this ship and bring it back to Khufu’s palace. There they study the Nth metal and eventually melted down and used it to make a scarab, a knife, and the Claw of Horus.

The metal would also strengthen the souls of Chayara and Khufu, in which Katar believed they’d be together forever. The pair would eventually be murdered by Hath-Set using the Nth Metal Knife, trapping their souls in an endless cycle of reincarnation. Aldis Hodge will take on the role of Hawkman and his ties to Egypt could end up tying together with Black Adam’s origin. Hopefully, we get our first look at Hawkman in costume once it enters production next month.

  • Haley Bennett Joins Eli Roth’s ‘Borderlands’ Film

Haley Bennett Joins Eli Roth’s ‘Borderlands’ Film

The Borderlands film has been a shock to many. There is a negative stigma surrounding the very idea of video game movies. There have been exceptions, but their track record hasn’t been motivating. Maybe in the coming years, that’ll finally change. Something feels different with this one. The film has managed to acquire a large cast for what’s sure to be a volatile and deranged adventure on the planet of Pandora. We recently broke the exclusive on the film seeking an aged-up version of the popular character, Mad Moxxi. Now, it seems that they are expanding with a brand new character

The Hillbilly Elegy and The Devil All The Time star Haley Bennett has officially joined the production. She will play a brand new character. According to the description, she will be “the key to Cate Blanchett’s character, Lillith.” For those who don’t know, Lillith is a being with incredible and mysterious powers. She belongs to the famous Sirens, who are covered in tattoos. It is also interesting to note that only six can exist at a time. As IGN points out, Bennet could get connected to how Lillith gains her abilities. It is also interesting that they

Borderlands is set to be directed by Eli Roth, with a star-studded cast that includes Cate Blanchett, Kevin HartJack BlackFlorian MonteauJamie Lee Curtis, and Ariana Greenblat. Plot details are currently under wraps, but considering it’s a Borderlands movie, we’ll probably see them crack a vault or two.

  • ‘Zatanna’ Project Officially In The Works

‘Zatanna’ Project Officially In The Works

Almost a year ago, it was announced that J.J. Abrams and his production company, Bad Robot, would be getting into development on a series of projects that build up to a Justice League Dark series. At first, it seemed that it was going to be a series purely about the team, but a few months later words got out that HBO Max developing a new solo series surrounding John Constantine. At the time, they’d already begun searching for an actor to play the role. Now, it seems as though we could see a build-up to the eventual meeting of the JLD, as another famous member is getting their own series.

During an AT&T Investor’s Day presentation, they revealed a variety of DC shows that are in development. Eagle-eyed fans noticed a fan-favorite magician, Zatanna, is getting her own adaptation. While it’s not known if this project will be a film or a series, it seems more likely to be the series if you consider how these characters are being handled at HBO Max. Little is known about the project considering it was just announced but we’ll hopefully get some word on it soon.

It’ll be interesting to see what eventually brings these magical heroes together. We also will have to see who ends up on the roster of this team. In the comics, the roster has changed so frequently. So, they have a variety of choices for the upcoming series. I do believe that Zatanna is a necessity on the team. She has been part of almost every version, as such, she is a necessity. It will be great to see also see what evil might force these unlikely heroes to work together.

  • Amazon’s ‘The Boys’ Spinoff Adds Jaz Sinclair

Amazon’s ‘The Boys’ Spinoff Adds Jaz Sinclair

It looks like Amazon is not wasting any time, as right after they unveiled Lizze Broadway announced for the upcoming The Boys spin-off, they’ve already announced the next cast member. Deadline has revealed that Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star, Jaz Sinclair, has joined the upcoming spin-off as another one of the series leads. She will tackle the role of Marie Moreau.

Around a week ago, the casting details were supposedly released, which offer some insight into what character Sinclair will end up playing. Marie is a young, up-and-coming hero from the Caribbean. She is the first and only hero from that region, so she has a lot of responsibility to make her home country proud. Hopefully, we won’t see her downfall through the negative influence of Vought. We already know they can barely control a group of adults, so who knows how well they can manage hormonal teenagers.

The spin-off still has no official name as of now. It will follow a group of young superheroes, who visit Vought International’s school. The Boys executive producer Craig Rosenberg is writing the series, so that ensures that it will have the same heart, raunch, and satire as the original. At this rate, we might get the casting news for the rest of the cast by the end of the week. Hopefully, it also means we get an official title soon that finally unveils how they can title a spin-off based on The Boys. Its success could also start the development of more spin-offs in the future, so it is certainly a series to keep an eye out for.

  • ‘Doom Patrol’: Michelle Gomez Cast as Madame Rogue

‘Doom Patrol’: Michelle Gomez Cast as Madame Rogue

The upcoming season of Doom Patrol is quite an anticipated one considering the previous season’s abrupt and cliffhanger ending that found the team quite literally in pieces. Throughout season two the threat of the Candlemaker was a shadow that hung heavy over the team as they reeled with the hard truth that the Chief was at fault for every single accident that brought them to where they were. Little is known plotwise about this upcoming season, but many diehards will love the upcoming live-action debut of Madame Rogue, an original member of the Brotherhood of Evil, and while we haven’t heard much on the rest of the brotherhood we now know who’ll be bringing Rogue to life.

Fans of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and The Flight Attendant will be happy to know HBO Max is keeping it in the family with the recent addition of Michelle Gomez as the sinister Frenchie with a killer dual personality courtesy of a nearly fatal car crash. We’ll first see Rogue arrive at Doom Manor as an “eccentric and complicated” individual with a special mission. This mission could very well be to infiltrate the team via their leader. Rogue and Niles Caulder have quite a history in the comics, as the two once shared a romantic relationship in which Caulder helped Rogue overcome her evil personality.

Doom Patrol season 3 has no set release date but is currently in production. The upcoming season will see the return of Matt Bomer, Brendan Fraser, April Bowlby, Dianna Guerrero, and Jovian Wade as they take on the Brotherhood of Dada.

  • Stephen Fry Reveals Involvement with Netflix’s ‘Sandman’

Stephen Fry Reveals Involvement with Netflix’s ‘Sandman’

Sandman is another title that was trapped in development hell for quite some time. At one point, Joseph-Gordon Levitt was attached to a star before fizzling out. Luckily, that all changed as the Netflix adaptation started releasing its cast. It looks like even more cast members are coming out of the woodwork, as another actor revealed his involvement with the series. Stephen Fry accidentally let his involvement slip during an appearance on Channel 4. It was during the coverage of cricket, where a small remark on his recent work led to the revelation.

The best part is that Fry didn’t stop there. H ended up revealing that he’ll be playing an ‘Edwardian Writer’ named Gilbert. Many fans will know this as the alias for Fiddlers Green, a sentient part of the Dreaming that all travelers dream of finding someday. Green is known to be able to take a human form, enjoying some wandering from time to time. Fry went on about the excitement that he had for joining this new fantasy project:

It’s part of what we call the DC Universe but it’s really its own thing. I’m really looking forward to that, I’ve not been in anything quite like it before. I suppose the Hobbit counts as a fantasy world.

Netflix’s Sandman currently has no release date, and it is set to star Tom Sturridge as Dream, Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer, Boyd Holbrook as the Corinthian, Charles Dance as Roderick Burgess, Asim Chaudhry as Abel, Sanjeev Bhaskar as Cain, and Vivienne Acheampong as Lucienne.
