  • RUMOR: Title for 2022’s New ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ Game Leaks Online

RUMOR: Title for 2022’s New ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ Game Leaks Online

A few hours ago, Team Sonic revealed the first new entry in the franchise since 2017’s Sonic Forces. The pandemic didn’t help matters, as it delayed the release and announcement by quite a bit but it luckily was able to kick off the 30th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog. They didn’t offer any details on what the title will be called or what type of game it might be. The teaser simply showed our favorite hedgehog running freely through the forest before leaving a weird symbol behind. Well, one gaming modder took their time to analyze the 4K version of the new game’s teaser that may have revealed the game’s title.

Now, the fact that it might be called Sonic Rangers is even more interesting if you consider that some time ago there was a leak in January that mentioned a game with the same title. The franchise is not a stranger to 4chan leaks but so far only the gaming retailer leak for Sonic Colors Ultimate was confirmed. Of course, we still have to take this with a grain of salt as they could easily change the title at any point during development. There is also the question of this was just a test title that was added into the teaser’s assets. Sega did tease more reveals throughout the rest of the year. So, hopefully, we’ll get a better picture of what we can expect from the 2022 entry into the franchise and if we might be entering a completely new world of Sonic action.

Latest ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Dev Stream Teases a Big Summer

Marvel’s Avengers released its second event with the Red Room Takeover. Of course, that also means we get our weekly developer stream that offers insight into what is happening with the game. They went through the usual bug discussions. Yet, there was also some curious teases about what we can expect this summer. Without further ado, let’s jump into the updates

    • They have discussed some ongoing bugs. Some Red Room Takeover players have an issue with loading the second wave, which is getting looked at. There is also a bug that you won’t receive the reward that is getting looked at.
    • Champion levels have a UI issue, where they say +3 rather than 3%. They work as intended but will offer clarification soon.
    • The largest hint involved future updates, especially regarding new enemy types. It got confirmed that we will get a large batch of new enemies this summer, which could hint at Black Panther’s release. A brief mention also mentioned multiple villain sectors getting included in the expansion. There was a brief tease that Wakanda will be the most comic-inspired of all their design.
    • If you haven’t unlocked the nameplate for the Hulu MODOK show, you can unlock it by finishing the boss battle with the iconic Marvel villain.

    • Patrol Mode will not include a mini-map, but you can expect a new update that helps guide you through the open world.
    • Omega-Level Threats may release in the next patch, but that is not definite. They are currently working on three with the Cloning Lab to follow the first one’s release. There is also a big maybe in regards to a MODOK multiplayer mission.
    • They are looking into implementing the possibility to play multiple heroes as a permanent addition due to its popularity after the Tachyon Anomaly event.
    • Crystal Dynamics is taking a closer look at the feedback on the skins, especially regarding hair.
    • Elevator conversations are being looked into due to newer generations’ faster loading time skipping the elevator sequences.
    • Gear 2.0 will see incremental changes that offer more flexibility on how to establish your build.

It sounds like some larger updates are definitely in development. Crystal Dynamics has confirmed that the current event was intended as a minor update, as they are trying to focus their work on what is heading our way. Here’s hoping the upcoming E3 and Summer Game Fest events will offer more details on what the future holds for the game.

    • Next week’s patch 1.7 will feature various fixes, such as Hulk’s Tropical outfit, Hawkeye’s Counter-Earth mask, and Black Widow’s Outrider. Mega Hives are still being worked on.
    • Red Room Takeover is built on a storyline that was teased in the Rooskaya Protocols. The event will include five unique HARM Rooms that will challenge your actions. The layouts will be unique and mix up the gameplay in single-player missions. You can die instantly if you fall into the techno lava pits but the same goes for your enemies. It’ll kick off their focus on offering more challenging gameplay that will continue with the Omega-Level Threats. They also want to use these opportunities to offer new content and learn as they work on bigger drops.

    • It’ll add new Mission Chains that reward gear, polychoron, animated nameplates, and XP bonuses to push the Champion system. Once you reach Level 50, all the XP you collect will be used for Champion XP, which will be gold on your nameplate. It’ll be made available as of Tuesday with the latest patch. In total, you can reach up to Level 372 as each level increases. The long-tail system provides players unique customization per character, which is why it is unique per character. Once you invest a Champion Skill Point you cannot retract it.
    • The addition of new consumables in the form of Hero’s Catalyst will add new options for players. The first will upgrade XP gain and will be made available for free with plans to make them earnable in-game.

They teased that the Champions system might be the foundation for future additions. Gear 2.0 was teased throughout various dev streams to offer more customization. It’ll be interesting to see how the game continues to grow with further updates.

  • ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Reveals First Red Room Takeover Details and New Champion System

‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Reveals First Red Room Takeover Details and New Champion System

Marvel’s Avengers second event had a soft launch with the Rooskaya Protocols, which was a small tie-over event to farm some resources. With only one more week to go, Crystal Dynamics offered some more details on the second half that will see the true Red Room Takeover. It will kick off after Jimmy Woo notices that anomalies are in the HARM Rooms that seem to be linked to a virus. It turns out it’s the same hacked IP address as the Rooskaya Protocols, which were all manipulated by Yelena Belova. Players will get access to new mission chains and play through the single-player event, as multiple of the hacked rooms will be available to play. They will scale from one to 120 in power level.

The interesting aspect is that these aren’t just battle simulations, but will also test traversal and evasion abilities. There will be various hazards including Techno Lava that can kill you instantly. Red Lightning can also cause a lot of damage if you get too close. They did confirm you can get some tips and tricks in next week’s weekly blog, but each HARM room will have a unique layout. The event will reward an exclusive animated nameplate, a lot of XP. That is actually important, as they are introducing the first post-Level 50 content, the Champion System.

Every hero’s level is capped at 50 at the moment. So, to expand your character’s capabilities, you’ll be able to gather so-called Champion XP. It’ll upgrade you to receive a unique Champion Skill Point that can be used on various skills. These are available in the menu and add permanent increases to your character’s perks. It’ll release next Tuesday before the Red Room Takeover event starts on May 20th. The hacked HARM Rooms will be playable until May 31st.

There are some exciting things in the works, and I cannot wait to get my hands on an Omega-Level Threat. We’ve been anxiously awaiting the endgame content that got delayed due to the ongoing pandemic. It’ll be interesting to see what it adds to the game and how it may change the way we tackle these missions with our favorite Marvel heroes. Also, the mention of the implementation of more “Marvel DNA” in the future is an exciting prospect, which I hope they can talk about shortly.

  • Latest ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Dev Stream Revealed Red Room Takeover Start Date and Black Widow’s MCU Skin

Latest ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Dev Stream Revealed Red Room Takeover Start Date and Black Widow’s MCU Skin

Marvel’s Avengers has gone through quite the week, as various of their MCU skins have leaked online. We also had our first event with the Tachyon Anomalies, so we’ve been anxiously awaiting some information on the upcoming Red Room Takeover. Luckily, we got an official look and some more details in the latest developer stream by Crystal Dynamics.

    • Of course, we got some details on the development of some bugs. Priority Mission rewards have been fixed and the next patch will fix the missing Black Widow Outrider glasses. The Kate Bishop nameplate has also been replaced.
    • It looks like we are getting the Red Room early, as it will consist of two parts. The first one will kick off next week on May 6th and is titled Sky Protocols. The second part will release later in May but no date has been given. It will include brand new mission chains, animated nameplates, and Black Widow will be a recommended character. The actual HARM room takeover will be n the second part.
    • We will get a new set of Red Room-inspired outfits for all our heroes.  They also revealed Black Widow’s MCU skin officially that’ll be adapted from Avengers: Endgame. It’ll be made available next week alongside the Red Room’s first part.

    • Crystal Dynamics has hinted that further details on post-Level 50 progressions will follow in the upcoming weeks. They will give us insight even before they finish their development on it, and they might even tease some new skins potentially.
    • Omega-Level Threats continue to be in good shape. They are working on balancing and some minor bugs on the Labs OLT. They’ve teased some curious additions to the bosses that may add some new complexity in the future.
    • Patrol Mode might get a spotlight in the future, where they also want to talk bout future additions. So, we can expect them to grow as time goes on.

The MCU skin certainly looks like it got plucked directly out of the film. I am surprised that the next event is happening so soon after the last one ended. We’ve seen a lot of new additions, and active communication has been evolving with each stream. They are offering further details and are actively offering some insight into ongoing developments. Patrol Mode especially has been highlighted quite a bit. So, it could be a positive sign for it to release earlier than initially expected.

  • Activison’s Continued Focus on ‘Call of Duty’ Squashes Hopes on ‘Crash 4’ Sequel

Activison’s Continued Focus on ‘Call of Duty’ Squashes Hopes on ‘Crash 4’ Sequel

After the release of Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, we’ve been wondering what might be next for the franchise’s future. Toys for Bob was also the mastermind behind the Sypro Reignited Trilogy. So, it was safe to assume they might even tackle a new entry in the fantasy franchise. Recent announcements by the developer put a damper on those hopes, as they revealed they will be supporting Call of Duty: Warzone‘s third season. At first, it seemed simply like a brief departure, but a tweet by Crash 4′s character designer, Nicholas Kole, may have hinted at Activision’s continued focus on the Call of Duty franchise.

Kole’s work on both Crash 4 and Spyro added a lot of new energy to the projects. The cartoon-inspired designs were able to translate the once very polygonal characters into the modern-day. The fact he is no longer working at Toys for Bob isn’t a great sign if we were hoping to see that style continue with either franchise. There is the hope that Beenox could be working on a sequel, as they were heavily involved with the remake of Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled, but it seems that VGC’s Andy Robinson has heard that Activision has completely shifted its studios to work on Call of Duty.

What does this mean for the future? Well, it isn’t a confirmation that Activision won’t explore other franchises in the future, but, for now, they have set their focus on their cash cow franchise. Hopefully, this development is only a temporary focus to support the Warzone spin-off before they can tackle new projects. The game has grown at an exponential rate and it is understandable they’ll need resources, but it wouldn’t be wise to put all their eggs in one basket moving forward.

  • UPDATE: First Look at ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ MCU Skin for Professor Hulk Leaked

UPDATE: First Look at ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ MCU Skin for Professor Hulk Leaked

UPDATE: Well, it looks like that MCU skin might be real after all, as user @VWarrior31 shared the new skin animated within the game. If this is a fake, someone really invested a lot of time to trace those movements so there is a good chance this MCU skin is real.

We’ve known for some time that the first set of Marvel Cinematic Universe-inspired skins will be released in May alongside Marvel’s Avengers Red Room Takeover event. The team has been sharing their excitement for the new skins in their developer streams and we were going to potentially get the first look this week. Well, it looks like we truly did get the first look but not in the dev stream as originally planned. A Reddit user shared the first look at a costume ripped straight from Avengers: Endgame‘s Professor Hulk costume. @AssembleCast and @DammitEthan noticed the similarities to the Hot Toys figure, which gave a closer look to the full-body suit on Twitter and brought it to my attention.

Professor hulk MCU skin glitch (not mine originally but from a user on another forum)
    byu/nhillier inPlayAvengers

Now, it seems that a strange visual glitch created the suit. There is a possibility that the original skin and the developed MCU skin might be connected through code, which led to this activating. Yet, it could be that someone invested a lot of time to replicate the costume. So, we have to take it with a grain of salt for now. Crystal Dynamics might still give us a first look this Friday. So, we will see if they confirm this costume. It still looks believable as its lighting matches the other characters. There is no similar skin to readjust to turn it into this MCU’s version. If this design turns out to be real, it hopefully will relieve many people’s fear of the “inspired” word used in the roadmap. It seems pretty accurate to the films, and it wouldn’t be surprising if Marvel Studios signs off on the usage of these designs. Here’s hoping we get a better look at others soon.

  • Job Listings Hinting at an Open World ‘BioShock’ Sequel in Development

Job Listings Hinting at an Open World ‘BioShock’ Sequel in Development

It looks like some job listings at the developer studio Cloud Chamber may have given us our first glimpse at the next entry of the BioShock franchise. At the tail-end of 2019, 2K Games founded the studio to tackle the first-person gaming franchise. Kelley Gilmore took over the studio and is spearheading the next project. Bloody Disgusting noticed something rather interesting in their latest job listings that may offer a glimpse at the next entry’s direction.

They are currently looking for a Senior Writer, who is required to ha e a talent for weaving stories in “an open world setting.” The job details also include the fact that they will be required to brainstorm primary and secondary mission content. Now, the position of Senior World Designer also points to a game concept, where players are encouraged to explore the world rather than the franchise’s usual straightforward storytelling. Cloud Chamber is also actively looking for someone to create an urban crowd.

This information would also hint at the game moving closer to 2013’s BioShock Infinite, which had a living world throughout specific sections. It is uncertain if we might even be returning to the underwater city of Rapture or the city above the clouds, Columbia. It is likely that the story will be a self-contained story that pays tribute to those that came before. Still, the concept of an open-world BioShock game sounds intriguing.

  • RUMOR: Leaks Hint at a ‘Sonic Colours’ Remaster

RUMOR: Leaks Hint at a ‘Sonic Colours’ Remaster

Here’s an interesting rumor going around. There has been some evidence online pointing to a remaster of 2010’s Sonic Colours. The first hint came when German dubbing studio iksample listed the game. It was only misleading with a visual from the Sonic Boom franchise. So, it could’ve been added accidentally on the site. Yet, SoGamely, a French retailer, revealed a Limited Edition game for Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One under the title Sonic Colors Ultimate.

It makes sense that SEGA might revisit some of their most popular Sonic the Hedgehog titles, as they are celebrating its 30 anniversary. It’s going to be a big year for the franchise. The film’s sequel was announced to release in 2022. A brand new Netflix animated series has also entered production, which will be unique from the previously released American-French Sonic Boom series. Now, the question is also if this might be the only remake we will see this year.

There has been a lot of hope for SEGA to revisit the Sonic Adventure series, which is a personal favorite from the franchise. It’s also going to be interesting to see who will be the new voice for the hedgehog, as his original voice actor Roger Craig Smith has announced that he is no longer voicing the iconic role. He has played Sonic for ten years now and it’ll be quite the adjustment to hear someone else take over the role. 2021 will be a big year for the SEGA mascot and it’ll be interesting to see if that will be revealed during the anniversary.
