Early in the week, I got the go ahead to share just a little bit of information about the roles of Kingsley Ben-Adir and Killian Scott in Marvel Studios 2022 streaming series Secret Invasion. Nobody was going to be surprised that Ben-Adir, who was cast as the villain in the series, would be playing a Skrull; however what puts a little more meat on the bone of his role is that he’s playing one that has a shared history with Ben Mendelsohn’s Talos. Speaking of Skrulls, it looks like Scott will be playing one as well, partnering up with Ben-Adir’s character.
Fans Have Much More Marvel Studios Content Coming
Newly promoted Marvel Studios exec Victoria Alonso gave fans something to chew on when she revealed in an interview that the studio has 31 projects currently at some stage of development. Even the hardest of the hardcore have a hard time coming up with all 31 could be, but with 13 films scheduled between 2022 and 2024, a half dozen or so Disney Plus series and some animated shows on the list, we know there’s going to be diversity not only in the type of projects we’ll see, but also in the people creating and starring in them.
Star Wars Fans Won’t Have It So Bad, Either
It’s not quite 31, but it’ll do. Disney Plus has plans to release 10 series set in a galaxy far, far away over the next few years. We know that will start on December 29th with The Book of Boba Fett and we know a few other titles, but it seems Disney Plus still has a few surprises up their sleeve.
ScarJo and Disney Are Friends Again
After taking a $40M settlement from Disney, Scarlett Johansson is ready to make some more movies with the studio after suing them over the hybrid release of Black Widow. Disney and Johansson are expected to continue their collaboration with the upcoming Tower of Terror film.
After a short diversion with Batman: The Long Halloween, the duo takes on the next set of episodes of HBO Max’s Titans. Wasthe show able to turn it around, or are John and Joe still struggling with the current season?
On CW’s Stargirl, the Justice Society of America has an “it” factor. It’s partly what makes them such great heroes. Their inability to not know any better also helps to make them a formidable team. In the first season of Stargirl, the team fighting their way through inexperience was a big reason why they defeated the Injustice Society of America. Resolve and ignorance to the idea that they’re just kids. Now, they have a different problem, one that requires much more than a plucky attitude: Eclipso.
Eclipso has been a villain that has not attacked Courtney, Yolanda, Rick, and Beth physically. Instead, he has attacked them psychologically, mentally, and emotionally. He’s fed on their fears and their doubts to the point that in this past episode Yolanda quit the team. Wildcat is no more. Her guilt over killing Brainwave last season has been on her mind ever since, and there’s no telling if she’ll ever recover.
Yolanda goes to confession in the last episode, hoping for some absolution of her sin. What she gets is Eclipso making her believe in things that aren’t there… or are they? When we see Brainwave speak to her he says that his consciousness is in her mind. It’s enough to make Yolanda go mad.
Courtney being the leader that she is attempts to get Yolanda to talk about these issues hoping that will help her heal. Unfortunately, when the group gets together, Beth isn’t definitive in her support which fractures the team more. The funny thing is, Beth, isn’t wrong for saying the words, “I don’t know.” How could she know? A secret like the one Courtney and Yolanda have kept is a difficult one to spring on the team.
This is why Eclipso is so dangerous. He feeds on the questions, he revels in the cracks that were already in Yolanda’s psyche. Now, as the JSA is splintered, Eclipso is setting his sights on Beth who’s been struggling with her parents failing relationship. She could really use the help of Dr. Midnight. Nonetheless, as long as Eclipso is around Stargirl & Co. have their hands full. It’s going to take more than punching and kicking their way to win this fight.

We Might Finally Know Who is Voicing Kro! Wait, Who the Hell is Kro?
Eternals is next up for Marvel Studios and is going to introduce fans to the most obscure group of heroes and villains yet. The trailer revealed one of those villains: the Deviant warlord Kro. To be sure this Kro looks a whole lot different than his comic book counterpart but now we might know why he sounded so much like Dan Stevens. While talking to Collider, Stevens randomly namedropped the character and since only 0.05% of the population knows who it is, it might just be because he’s voicing him.
Hit Monkey Trailer Indicates He’s Set to Square Off Against Some Killer Foes
Marvel’s animated series Hit Monkey is set to debut on Hulu on November 17th and the first trailer for the series gave brief glimpses of a couple of characters that the merc turned macaque might find himself up against: Daredevil baddie Lady Bullseye and Immortal Weapon Fat Cobra! The trailer didn’t really give any context for their roles in the series, so they might be brief cameos for all we know, but they were certainly cool surprises in what was a fairly intriguing trailer.
Marvel Studios Victoria Alonso Gets Promoted
One of the keys to Marvel Studios continued success is that the people who built it beginning with 2008’s Iron Man have stayed the course and followed their vision. One of those key visionaries, Victoria Alonso, who Kevin Feige called “one of the most dynamic, candid and accessible executives in the industry”, just got herself a new job within the Studio. Alonso is now President of Physical and Post Production, Visual Effects, and Animation Production and we have no idea what that means but it’s great to see Alonso continue to climb the ladder of the company she helped shape.
Here We Go! ‘Super Mario’ Animated Film Has a Bonkers Cast List
One major announcement coming out of Nintendo Direct was the voice cast Illumination’s 2022 Super Mario. The animated film will hit U.S. theaters December 21st, 2022 and has a fully loaded baked potato of a cast. Chris Pratt and Charlie Day will voice Mario and Luigi, respectively, while Anya Taylor-Joy will voice Peach. Seth Rogen, Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key and more will bring other characters from the iconic franchise to life.
In a Murphy’s Multiverse exclusive, we reported that Academy Award-winning actress Olivia Colman’s unknown spy character will be sticking around the MCU in future projects. The character, described as a Fury-esque spy, will first be seen doing some shady work in Secret Invasion. Fury. The Contessa. Now this spymaster. Seems like things are going to get real interesting in the MCU. Who do you trust?
‘Aquaman 2’ Will Have a Shark, But Not King Shark
Aquaman andThe Lost Kingdom is rounding out its cast and it looks like they figured that since everyone liked King Shark so much in The Suicide Squad, that they should have a shark too. And since they aren’t using King Shark, they decided to have a telepathic shark!Sounds like this one is going to get pretty wild.
‘Secret Invasion’ Will Be Quake-free
Chloe Bennet will not be reprising her role as Daisy Johnson/Quake in the MCU…at least not yet…and probably not ever. The star of ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. took time out of her day to break the news to her fans via Twitter. Nobody is exactly sure why she did it nor why anyone thought she was in Secret Invasion in the first place, but let’s not facts get in the way of fan theories. On a positive note, she has yet to deny that she will be joining the MCU as Mephisto, so keep your fingers crossed.
The king of the seven seas is set to make his big return in Aquaman andthe Lost Kingdom. Plot details are still very much under wraps and much of the films casting has yet to be made public but looks to be making some moves as multiple new cast members have joined the upcoming sequel to the 2018 hit.
If you couldn’t get enough of King Shark in The Suicide Squad, another shark seems to be making their way too the DCEU as Indya Moore has been cast as Karshon. Jani Zhao will play Stingray, an original character created for the movie, though it is unknown if she will be friend or foe.
Vincent Regan will play King Atlan in a recast from the original film. The role was originally played by GrahamMcTavish and is unknown why the role was not reprised, possibly due to his involvement in House of the Dragon. Randall Park will also return as Dr. Stephen Shin who featured in a smaller role in the original film.
Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom Is currently set to release in theaters on December 16th, 2022.
It looks like HBO Max will be putting the spotlight on DC Comics’ rich history and influential legacy as part of a three-part documentary series. Oscar and Emmy-nominated director, and producer, Leslie Iwerks, will act as showrunner alongside Greg Berlanti. It’ll explore the early years of the company and how it evolved into the comic book giant we know today.
HBO Max is no stranger to DC, as the streaming service already features a number of titles including Doom Patrol, Titans, and the upcoming Peacemaker series. All that is in additional to working closely with Warner Bros. films. With comics assets as popular as they have become, it makes sense that DC would want to celebrate its successes and relive some of the world’s most beloved characters and stories. Jim Lee, Publisher and Chief Creative Officer at DC told Deadline:

Iwerks previously received an Outstanding Nonfiction Special Emmy nomination for her work on The Pixar Story, a documentary that took audiences behind the scenes of the the animation legend. She will exeuctive produce with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and David Madden. Co-executive producers are Mark Catalena, Rachael Jerahian, and Jonathan Gabay. The series will be co-directed by Iwerks alongside Catalena.

Hit Monkey First Look, Release Date Revealed
Once upon a time, Marvel Entertainment gave the green light to a handful of animated series. Of those, only MODOK and Hit Monkey survived Kevin Feige’s ascendancy. While we’ll probably never see The Offenders event series, we can see Hit Monkey beginning on November 17th on Hulu. The show is rumored to be “hyper-violent”, so we might not see the Marvel Studios credits roll ahead of it, but it’s still looking like it’ll be a blast.
Serkis Says Spidey and Venom Meeting is “Gonna Happen”
Sony’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage screened last week and all the buzz (including from the studio, bizarrely enough) was about the post-credit scene that is rumored to hint at something fans have long hoped for: Spidey and Venom being in the same place. According to the film’s director, Andy Serkis, fans are eventually going to get what they hope for, saying “of course it’s gonna happen.” When? How? Why? Which Spidey? We’ll all find out together.
Krysten Ritter Wants to Join Charlie Cox in the MCU
Actress Krysten Ritter, who brought Marvel’s Jessica Jones to life on Netflix back in 2015, has decided that she’d like to not be done playing the character. Ritter, who was last seen as Jones in 2019’s third season of Jessica Jones, says she’d “absolutely just die to play Jessica again.” Nobody wants Ritter to die, but it’s great to know she’s up for returning to the role and reimagining the character like her Defenders co-star Charlie Cox totally for sure isn’t doing in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
‘THE PENGUIN’ Series in Development at HBO Max
Director Matt Reeves is definitely getting the chance to do some world building around his upcoming Batman film. The latest development, according to Deadline, is a streaming series focused on Colin Farrell’s Oswald Cobblepot. That makes at least 2 series spinning out of 2022’s The Batman.
It’s been almost a year since we’ve first heard of Cartoon Network and HBO Max’s Batmobile cartoon Batwheels. The series is aimed at preschoolers and marks DC’s first foray into the market. Even with its younger demographic, the series has nabbed quite the name as Moon Knight and Before Sunset‘s Ethan Hawke joined the project to voice Batman. He’ll be one of three human characters, which also includes Duke Thomas and Cassandra Cain. It will explore the world from the perspective of five anthropomorphic vehicles from the bat family and the sentient Bat-computer. Here’s also a first look at the three human characters:
He’s joining the voice cast, as Cobra Kai‘s Jacob Bertrand will voice the series’ main protagonist, as the name suggests, Batmobile named Bam. Here’s the official description:
Having just been created by the Batcomputer, our heroes are essentially kids with little to no life experience. Led by Bam (The Batmobile), the Batwheels – Bibi (The Batgirl Cycle), Redbird (Robin’s Sports Car), The Batwing and Buff (The Bat Truck) – must navigate the growing pains of being a newly formed super team as well as the growing pains that come with just being a kid. This relatable and aspirational series will follow the journey of this dynamic team as they thrill and entertain with their heroic adventures as well as demonstrate to kids the value of self-confidence, friendship and teamwork.
It sounds like a great series for young DC fans getting into the franchise. It’s uncertain what role the human characters will have and how much one can expect of Ethan Hawke. His inclusion is a great way to show that actors of any caliber can also do some work for a younger audience to enjoy. It may introduce a young mind to the world of Batman and set them on a journey to uncover their new favorite superhero.
