At this point, we might see the entire cast of Secret Invasion through set photos if more continues to find its way online. We got our first look at Emilia Clarke on the set just yesterday, and it seems, even more, have found their way online. This time though, we get a good look at Kingsley Ben-Adir on set. He’s another actor who has appeared in person and not as a Skrull, which makes sense with the whole “secret” part of the Disney+ series’ title. @SInvasionNews has shared the image provided by Instagram account donnajuds
It’s still very likely that Kingsley Ben-Adir is a Skrull, as he was initially cast as the series’ antagonist. Of course, we don’t know exactly who he might be playing, which is the big question mark and the fact we haven’t seen any Skrulls on this set does also lead us to wonder if they are keeping those reveals for in-door sequences. Of course, he may also be a red herring that the series is setting up to catch us off-guard during our viewing.
It’ll be fun to see how the series plays with our expectations, especially with such an iconic premise. Plus, we don#t know if some familiar faces might make a return from the films or other TV series, which raises the question of just how far have the Skrulls gone with their inflation. We might not be able to trust everyone in the projects to come.
Not too long ago, we’ve learned that Moon Knight may have become Disney+’s most anticipated entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Not only did it get the most likes of any series, it even managed to become its second-most-watched entry within 24 hours. It’s crazy to think how popular it is if you consider that Moon Knight has mostly been known either from a meme calling Dracula a nerd or many Batman comparisons. There’s a lot more to the character, of course, but there must be something about this series that appeals to viewers with its trailer.
I think its biggest selling point lies in the tonal change from the rest of the MCU. The Disney+ shows have been unique and offer different takes on what it means to be a hero, villain, and more. Yet, there’s something much darker at play with Moon Knight compared to the rest. It may be similar to why Loki and WandaVision were such darlings during their release, as they offered something truly unique. We’ve seen enough superheroes and now Marvel Studios has started to break the mold. And, on top of it all, they provided one of their best trailers that found the perfect mixture of intrigue, action, and character.
Their next Disney+ series feels like a psychological horror film that was combined into ChristopherNolan‘s Memento. The initial trailer offers so much intrigue that forces anyone to question what is real. Comic fans might fully grasp the many personalities of Marc Spector and the existence of Khonshu, but an everyday viewer will have no clue. All they saw, was this strange monster stalking him, and the way the first trailer implies it may just be in his head. It’s an eye-catcher in many ways, as you might question how real is Moon Knight as a hero in this universe.
Oscar Isaac‘s performance of a mentally disturbed man, fighting to figure out what is real or not would probably drag quite a few people into theaters if this wasn’t a Disney+ series. Throw in the possibility of him becoming a hero more in line with Punisher or Daredevil‘s Netflix run, you might reach an audience that has been clamoring for exactly that. The poster with a bloody crescent moon-shaped weapon certainly seems to promise that Marvel Studios isn’t holding back this time around.
Disney+ is a family-oriented streaming program at the end of the day, and there were concerns that it could hold back Marvel Studios’ expansion. If they can make this concept work within the perceived limitations of a Disney-owned streaming service, the future of Marvel’s darker characters, which includes Daredevil, Punisher, Ghost Rider, and more, seems – for a lack of a better term – quite bright. Moon Knight may be the point where Disney+ starts to mature and opens the floodgates to welcome in more stories like it.
Loved every second of it. From the shot of Egypt that made me immediately think of the Eternals to the use of one of Marc’s alter-egos to the shot of the criminally underrated Ethan Hawke (he’s who everyone pretends Jared Leto is), it set the tone far more than a teaser should. It gave us our first shot at many intriguing things (was that a Lycan? An Animus?), While also setting the stage for what seems to be a more visceral show than we’ve gotten from the MCU on Disney+. FWS had it’s moments, but this seems to up the violence ante. There’s some concern that Marvel didn’t cast a Jewish actor in the title role and that this means they’re going to retcon that for Isaac’s character, and this trailer did nothing to confirm/deny that. It left me wanting more, especially considering I believe MoonKnight will tie into Blade and some of the other properties coming down the pipe. All in all, mission accomplished.

That trailer put me at ease. Despite my huge hype for this show, I still had some concerns in the back of my mind about adapting this character into a live-action feature. However, the trailer is absolutely fantastic for me and I can’t remember the last time I looked forward to a Marvel project this much. The trailer gave me the emotions I was expecting: disorientation, surreal atmosphere, and confusion.
The focus on DID and the character’s psychological problems is gratifying. The beginning of the trailer in terms of execution is very much in the style of directors Moorehead and Benson, enclosing the character in tight frames with a close-up camera. Somewhere in the back, there is the symbolism of the surroundings being reflected in puddles and mirrors, which I also think will at times serve as an interesting means of expression in portraying Marc’s problems.
Another huge plus is that the story will begin from the perspective of Steve Grant, Marc’s alter ego. I like how the subconscious has repressed Marc’s death, which by the way is very consistent with how DID works. The subconscious has separated the trauma and grief to protect the person from themselves. Such a theme gives room for many interesting narrative treatments, and I hope that the further into the woods the story becomes less linear.
I was also very positively surprised by the fact that the series will be mostly based on the series from 1985. Ethan Hawke’s character himself is named Arthur Harrow, who debuted in the comics in 1985, and the hero himself was studying the theory of pain. Here I think that they will combine Harrow with Sun King and I know that Moon Knight’s fans may turn their noses up a bit because the plot with Sun King was poor, but such a synthesis of these two characters may come out on a good note.
I do love this outfit. I’m glad that they didn’t go for any armor, but something mystical and out of the ordinary for the MCU. Once again, I associate it with the 1985 run where the theme of Egypt and mysticism was present, and according to the description, this element will also be important in the series.

I loved it. Take out the last 10 seconds or so, and you wouldn’t even know it was a Marvel or superhero-type series. It definitely came across as more of a psychological thriller with a smattering of horror and a smidge of action. I really like that combination, but it will be interesting to see what that balance actually is in the series, since it’s a solid bet the action (and actual Moon Knight part) will be more prominent. I’m extremely curious how they will handle and explore Marc Spector’s D.I.D., and I hope it doesn’t take 5 episodes to explain it or to reveal Jake Lockely. I definitely felt some elements of the Lemire run with Marc (or Steven) going in and out of perceived realities in really abrupt and harsh ways, and I would love if they played into that consistently throughout the whole series. If Ethan Hawke’s Arthur Harrow is actually who I think he could be, I’m very interested to see how they develop the dynamic between the two in this context. We only really saw Moon Knight going to town punching something in a bathroom for a few seconds, so honestly in my mind the jury is still very much out on the Moon Knight himself. But it’s looking good.

I enjoyed thetrailer. I think Marvel Studios got almost exactly the right mix of attraction for a casual audience and for more dedicated fans. The trailer makes it clear we are going to have Steven Grant as a gateway to the character of Moon Knight with some subtleties of the wider Moonie mythos. There is a mystery to unravel for Steven as there is for the audience. All of my friends who watch Marvel Studios TV and films in a late-casual way thought ‘it was unlike any other Marvel thing’ they had seen, and were really excited about it. So in that sense, it’s job done. The only thing I think could maybe have been improved on is the music for this particular trailer, as it didn’t get me as hyped up as other Marvel Studios trailer music has done, but it’s not a deal-breaker by any means in my enjoyment of the trailer. I’m excited for the next trailer and for the show itself!

My thoughts are simple: the most non-Marvel trailer I’ve seen in a while and I love it. The only real piece of info I had on this show was that it would be partially inspired by Christopher Nolan’s Memento: the trailer showed us that is probably the case and that makes for a very interesting dynamic for the audience, especially anyone who doesn’t have a good handle on who Moon Knight is. I love the quasi-Earth X inspired costume. I think this has the makings of an incredibly fun series that will probably have weekly conversation on the level of WandaVision as fans try to piece together the mystery.

The trailer is interesting in so many ways. First, for the MCU at large this feels like something entirely different than anything we’ve ever seen. For the uninitiated to the character it has to feel trippy as it not only is mysterious, but incredibly psychological. The tone of the trailer is a dark one, bringing us inside the mind of someone who’s clearly lost theirs. Oscar Isaac has a chance to do something special here in playing multiple personalities. Ethan Hawke’s character seems very influential without us knowing exactly who he is. There’s intrigue in all of this, and the Moon Knight suit itself looking so good on screen. Lastly, the brief physicality of seeing Moon Knight hammering a creature of some sort (Anubis perhaps) is exciting as we haven’t seen a fighting style like this one in the MCU. The fans are in for quite the ride with Moon Knight.

The Moon Knight trailer probably goes down as one of my favorites alongside WandaVision and Loki. There’s something about the atmosphere that makes it stand out, especially with the psychological thriller aspect. Khonshu’s arrival as this horror monster makes me wonder just how they might approach the story, and even the strange accent by Oscar Isaac adds that something is off throughout. I really hope the series completely leans into that aspect and sticks to it throughout its runtime, as us questioning if Moon Knight is real or not could make for a great storyline before he enters the wider MCU.

For me what stood out the most in the Moon Knight trailer was the project’s apparent cinematic-quality. All other Disney+ MCU series have been great in terms of bringing a lot of the Marvel Studios big screen expertise to streaming, but Moon Knight’s footage seems to be on a different level. The series will be the first MCU show not to count on previously established characters within the franchise to help sell the property and therefore it might be going the extra mile in terms of presenting itself as a must-see television event based on looks alone.
The trailer itself hasn’t given out much in terms of plot, but if the feeling of its footage is anything to go by in terms of the overall quality of the series, one of the most enigmatic characters Marvel has decided to bring into the MCU might very well end up with the best-looking show, on par with the movies. Something that Marvel has been promising ever since its streaming strategy was announced, but that seldomly has been delivered.

It looks like she is walking alongside Cobie Smulders‘ Maria Hill on the set, which may hint at her being an ally of sorts for our group of spies. Her role is still kept in the shadows, and it’s unclear if she is a human or even a Skrull, as anything is possible in an adaptation of Secret Invasion. It looks like some of the pictures we saw earlier featuring Samuel L. Jackson also included Ben Mendelsohn, who was just off-screen. Some more photos have found their way online that features a small glimpse of him in his human form on the Disney+ series set. The last time we saw him as himself in the MCU was during Captain Marvel.
It’s been a crazy start to a Sunday with this many set photos leaking online, especially with almost everyone that has been announced for the project spotted on set. The only ones missing are Kingsley Ben-Adir, Olivia Colman, and Killian Scott. Yet, it could only be a question of time at this rate until they may end up getting spotted on set.
It’s surprising how little has found its way online from the Secret Invasion set. We’ve been following the Batgirl film through set photos and videos quite closely, while the Marvel productions have kept quite a tight lid on their projects. The only tease we got was that it was heading to Halifax’s Piece Hall with some set photos hinting at it being used as a stand-in for Russia. Now, some set photos have found their way online through Leeds Live, which gives us our first look at Emilia Clarke on the film’s set
It certainly isn’t the first look you might’ve expected, as it offers no hint at who she might be playing and it’s kind of perfect. Secret Invasion will dive into a world overrun by Skrulls and with Nick Fury’s involvement, there will be quite a lot of spies going undercover. So, it’ll be a lot of “whodunnit” action in the series and we’ll still have to guess who Clarke is playing. According to the set photos they’ve shared, the Lead city center was transformed into a Russian street. So, we might spend some time in that location and we’ll see if they might even explore SHIELD’s history with the KGB.
It’s certainly great to finally get a good look at the series’ set even if it doesn’t really tell us much for now. As they are still filming, and the film was taken out from an official website’s 2022 lineup, we probably won’t see it until 2023. As such, we might not find out who Emilia Clarke is playing for quite some time, but that won’t stop us from definitely theorizing.
Everyone has their “ol’ reliable” show to fall back on. It’s that one show you can’t help but go back to, over and over again even though there are countless other things to watch. Some have The Office, while others Parks & Rec, and for me, it always ends up being How I Met Your Mother. I have watched my ol’ reliable over 30 times by this point. If I’m being honest, I watch it so much that I have started to leave it on while I fall asleep purely to function as white noise. You can imagine both my excitement and skepticism when How I Met Your Father, a spin-off set in the same universe as its predecessor, was announced. I loved the prospect of a new series with the same love and charm that made the original so great. However, I was also worried about the all too common problem of a sequel that either falls into the trap of trying too hard to be the original, or steers so far off from it that the only link is by name. Now, after a long wait since its announcement, it has finally arrived on Hulu. Does it live up to How I Met Your Mother, or is this another sequel disaster in the making?
Thanks to a two-episode premiere, we already have a start to the character and relationship development needed for a romantic sitcom. The show follows Sophie, played by Hillary Duff with Kim Catrall as her future self, as she tells her son the story of how she met his father. Similar to the approach of How I Met Your Mother, we follow older Sophie recounting her memories of the past. However, the show has made some changes to the original formula. Instead of being in the blind on who the aforementioned mother or father is, the new show lets us in on a pretty big secret as of the first episode: the father is one of the men we see her meet in the very first episode.
Another change is that instead of watching the kids react to the story in the future, future Sophie is instead seen telling the story to her son, who is the one kept a secret from the viewers. I feel this was pretty obviously done in an effort to not make it obvious who the father is, considering we are narrowing it down to four gentlemen from the start. I personally love this change. The original was very ambiguous, which made it so any lucky lady could be the mother during the journey. However, I feel like this new approach will make for some tense and emotional moments as the show progresses. We’ll be on the edge of our seats, as four possible suitors are in the picture, all being around Sophie and competing for her attention as the plot unravels.
In the two-episode premiere, I was surprised by how fast I was getting emotionally invested in the characters and their relationships. Jesse (Chris Lowell) is an emotionally damaged character that immediately takes a liking to Sophie. He is charming but awkward, which makes for a great character to cheer for. Sid (Suraj Sharma) seems to be a fun and loving man, who gets engaged to his fiancee in the first episode. It’s a similar scenario Lilly and Marshall’s from the original, but with a twist. Unlike the original, Sid’s fiancee has to leave to work in another city, seemingly not a part of the main cast. This dynamic has led me to believe that while he is engaged now, he is definitely not out of the running to be the father.
Other characters include Valentina (Francia Raisa) who is Sophie’s best friend – a character that immediately made me laugh out loud – and her date Charlie (Tom Ainsley), as well as Ellen (Tien Tran), Jesse’s adoptive sister. I felt the cast immediately had chemistry and seemed like a very easy to imagine as a group of friends. This is largely why I am excited for the future of the show, a lot of shows struggle with introducing a new cast or building them into a cohesive friend group. With this largely already out of the way, more time can be focused on developing the plot.
While the relationships and characters are lovable, the humor felt a bit forced. Multiple times I heard a laugh track and couldn’t help but feel that it distracted from the show rather than back up an actual hilarious moment. I’m not particularly fond of laugh tracks in general, but I will never fault a show for using them considering it is such a standard practice in the genre. However, using them to force a boring moment into being a funny one is never fun. That isn’t to say the show doesn’t have its laughs, there were many times when my fiancee and I audibly laughed out loud. While this was a negative thing for me, I also feel this is a problem with a lot of shows as they start out, so I will reserve judgment on this until the full season is completed.
All-in-all, while I feel like the humor could use some work, the groundwork laid out in the first couple of episodes has me excited for the future. So far, I feel the show lies firmly in the “fans of the original should check this out” category. Sitcom lovers will also probably feel right at home. However, so far, I think the show is not for everyone, but we will see how that changes over the course of the season. Considering the emotional moment at the end of the second episode that ties How I Met Your Fatherto How I Met Your Mother, I think we are in for a real treat when we see what’s to come.
Production on Ahsoka is set to start moving along sometime soon as the cast for the project continues to expand. The series will see Rosario Dawson return as Ahsoka, who she brought into live-action in Season 2 of The Mandalorian. Hayden Christensen is returning as Ahsoka’s former Jedi master-turned-Sith, and Natasha Liu Bordizzo and Ivanna Sakhno are joining the cast as Sabine Wren and a “formidable, fierce and striking mercenary”, respectively . Now word of another actress jumping into the galaxy far, far away has come our way: Mary Elizabeth Winstead is reportedly set to join the cast of the upcoming Disney+ series.
Winstead is best known for her roles as Ramona Flowers in Scott Pilgrimvs. The World and Huntress in Birds of Prey, as well as her work in 10 Cloverfield Lane. Along with plot details on the series, info on Winstead’s role is still currently under wraps. Ahsoka is currently casting for a few other female leads, including one for a female, 36-40, that is described as “tough but maternal.” It’s possible that Winstead, who is 37, could be Lucasfilm’s choice for that role.
Production on Ahsoka is expected to be ongoing in Los Angeles for most of 2022, with an October wrap tentatively scheduled. The series will see the return of corrupted Jedi Knight Barriss Offee and the live-action debut of Grand Admiral Thrawn when it streams, likely sometime in 2023.
There are a lot of metrics we can work with nowadays to get a glimpse at how a project is performing before it even has officially aired. It’s never truly set in stone, but there they do help people to get t a feeling for just how popular an upcoming project may en dup being. Spider-Man: No Way Home’s impressive YouTube viewership was a testament to just how big of a release it ended up being. Now, it seems like Marvel Studios might have another big winner on its hands with Moon Knight going by its performance on YouTube.
As the Direct points out, the latest premiere trailer for an upcoming Disney+ series has garnered over a million likes. That’s not a small accomplishment, as the trailer was only released barely a week ago and has managed to get more attention than WandaVision (760K), Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘s (433K), or even Loki‘s 695K likes. Until now, Hawkeye held the most likes with 915K, but none of the Disney+ series managed to pass that milestone until now. However, you have to keep in mind these are purely the numbers from Marvel Entertainment’s official account. There are plenty more sites that may show different numbers based on their audiences.
There’s definitely a case to be made that Oscar Isaac and a darker tone may have sold people on it. It felt closer to what we saw with Daredevil when it comes to tone, and that might just be the fresh take that viewers have been waiting for, especially on a family-friendly platform like Diseny+. Still, a relatively unknown character like Moon Knight beating out well-established characters is a testament to the synergy Marvel Studios is enjoying with their projects and the excitement for new takes on their ever-expanding franchise.
Disney Plus has now added all of Marvel Studios One-Shots to their streaming library, giving fans a chance to relive some of the memorable shorts that once accompanied the home releases of their films. Agent Carter, All Hail the King and more are now streaming on the service and have all been added into the official, chronological viewing order. Interestingly enough, one of the One-Shots has knocked one of Marvel Studios biggest hits out of its place as a bookend to Phase One.
As you can see from the screenshot, the 2012 One-Shot Item 47, which was released on The Avengers Blu-Ray, is now the official end of Phase One. The 12-minute short, which was heavily tied to ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., starred Lizzy Caplan and Jesse Bradford as a couple who, in the wake of the Battle of New York, find a Chitauri weapon and use it to go on a crime spree. S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents Sitwell and Blake, played by Maximiliano Hernandez and Titus Welliver, respectively, intervene on the couple’s spree and eventually incorporate them into S.H.I.E.L.D.
While the events of the series were never mentioned again and neither Caplan nor Bradford’s characters were ever seen again, the One-Shot, directed by Louis D’Esposito, led directly to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. getting the green light on ABC. Bob Iger, who was Disney’s CEO at the time, gave the go ahead on AoS after watching Item 47 and the series debuted one year later on the network. Of course, Agents Sitwell and Blake continued on in the series and, in Sitwell’s case, the films with Sitwell dying during the events of Captain America: TheWinter Soldier and Blake pretty much just disappearing.
It looks like the Monsterverse will live on, as we’ve been anxiously awaiting an update since the release of Godzilla vs. Kong. Turns out, Apple TV+ has made a massive deal for a new series that takes place in Legendary’s Monsterverse franchise that will explore the aftermath from when San Francisco was destroyed in a battle between Godzilla and the Titans. The story focuses on a family that starts to uncover how their legacy connects to the mysterious organization known as Monarch.
The project is currently untitled, but Chris Black will serve as showrunner. It seems that Legendary has been searching for a potential buyer to carry on the franchise through a TV series, as they work on a film in the meantime. Apple has been struggling with a lack of IPs, and it seems they were the ones to get their hands on it. What makes this a surprising direction is that the Monsterverse was part of Warner Bros.’ IP, especially with Godzilla vs. Kong releasing simultaneously on HBO Max. Justin Kroll offered some insight into why they decided ended up with Apple TV+.

Matt Fraction is also a co-creator of the series and will produce alongside Safehouse Pictures’ Tory Tunnell, and Joby Harold. Toho is also involved with Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita acting as executive producers. Their involvement confirms that the series will include Godzilla in some capacity. It’s great that the franchise will continue, but does raise some questions regarding their relationship with Warner Bros. moving forward, as they are also working on a Dune spinoff series with HBO Max. We’ll see what the future has in store.
