What to Expect from the Future of Video Game Adaptations and When to Expect It

DECEMBER 17, 2021: THE WITCHER, SEASON 2

Netflix decided to greenlight the second season of The Witcher even before the first one debuted in December 2019. Following the first seasons’ success, we are scheduled to return to The Continent to follow the stories of Geralt of Rivia, Ciri, and Yennefer. Whereas season 1 followed a non-linear structure, taking place across three timelines, one following each of the three lead characters, the second season will focus on one single timeline.

Filming for the new season was heavily affected by the 2020 COVID-19 Pandemic. It initially started in London in early 2020 and is expected to continue into 2021 due to the constant shutdowns. All the rescheduling led to at least one cast member having to leave the production, as Thue Ersted Rasmussen, was replaced by Basil Eidenbenz in the role of Witcher Eskel.
